Tantor is enjoying his time with the girls that he has met. But one of them, Maddie, is a lot tougher to ally with than the other six, which includes her daughter from a previous relationship, Dania.
Dania can be mean, but she isn't much of a bitch to the core like her mother, who is a bad boss even by pachyderm standards, and possibly somehow more undefeatable than her much older full brother, the huge and equally tough to relate but rather sympathetic Mabaya. Given the fact that Dania calls her mother generally nothing but 'Unbeatable Mother Dearest', she is pretty much full of herself since she was only a calf when she and Mabaya got abandoned by their elderly mother and as a result, both acted as a boss and a bodyguard to each other.
Maddie, being such a battle-axe, finally admits that Tantor is the only good enough mate that she has looked for. They then decisively mate on each other, with the latter becoming pregnant in the process.
