"You know, I can't believe I've spent all this time with you in the TARDIS and I've never been to the swimming pool," Rose marvelled as she lay comfortably on a deck chair and sipped a cocktail by the pool in the TARDIS. Her bikini matched the view coming in through the 'sun roof.'

Without moving from his own deck chair, the Doctor replied, "Well, to be fair, you've never asked until now. Why would you want to spend all of your time by the pool when there is a whole universe out there to explore?"

Rose thought about it for a second, "Yeah, alright, that's true, but -"

"Do you hear that?" the Doctor asked, suddenly sitting upright. Before Rose had a chance to answer the TARDIS had started up and was on the move. They both fell off of their deck chairs and then scrambled to their feet, hurriedly heading for the control room.

Upon arrival they saw no one and nothing unusual. The TARDIS had just decided to fly itself.

"Where are you taking us?" he asked, flipping switches and pushing buttons. Of course he received no answer.

"Maybe the TARDIS thinks it's important that we go wherever it's taking us," Rose speculated.

"It wouldn't be the first time she's done it."

Thunk.

They had presumably landed, but where?

The Doctor opened the door cautiously to whatever world they had landed on; sonic screwdriver at the ready. He jumped out and pointed the screwdriver at the first thing that moved; almost scaring a poor rabbit to death, it hopped away rapidly and shot down a hole.

"Oh, sorry," he apologized to the rabbit and straightened his brown pinstripe suit, then turned back to the TARDIS, but as he did a glimmer of light caught his eye. He spun back around, taking in the forest around him, scanning it for that light he saw. And there to his right, between the trees not too far away was the light.

Meanwhile Rose had appeared in the doorway with the Doctor's coat, she had also found her jeans and shirt to put on, "What are you looking at? Are we in danger?"

"No, I shouldn't think so, although," he made a face "you never know. Do you see that shining light through the trees there?" he pointed in the direction he was looking and then shrugged on his coat.

Rose saw it, "Do you think that's why we're here?"

The Doctor stuck out his screwdriver to get an initial reading, "There's quite a large energy reading coming from that direction, so I would say that's a good assumption."

He was about to start walking then turned back to the TARDIS again, "Don't wander off. Come along, Rose."

Rose shut the door behind her and followed the Doctor into the forest, "It's a nice place, where are we?" she looked up to find the canopy hiding most of the sky, though she did spot a few birds dashing between the branches as they chirped to each other.

"I'm not entirely sure about that, I'll get back to you," the Doctor's attention was on the light they were getting closer to. He stepped out from between two trees and found himself on the edge of a small, sunny clearing.

Unexpectedly, a stick came out of nowhere and almost stabbed him. He moved away to get a better look at it and saw that not only was the stick protruding through the light source but there were seven golden glistening orbs of light hovering about in the clearing.

"Fantastic!" The Doctor announced as Rose joined him, her jaw dropping open in awe. The stick moved forward, extending out further from the light, and grasping the end was a hand. Just like that it was gone again.

"Oh this is interesting, very interesting," the Doctor was excited, what a discovery!

"What are those things?" Rose asked tying her blonde hair back in a ponytail.

"Not a clue, but I'm sure the answer is going to be thrilling," he told her, scanning each light, they all had a similar energy reading, yet the where and when was different for each one; the screwdriver seemed to be malfunctioning. The readings were very strange. He frowned and tapped the screwdriver on the palm of his hand a few times before lifting it to his ear and then fiddling with the dials.

In place of the stick came two young men, one with very short, dark hair wearing simple linen and the other a blonde haired muscular man dressed in much nicer cloth as if he were of importance, possibly centuries in the past of the time they were in.

The first thing Rose noticed was that they were holding hands but let go immediately upon seeing other people.

The Doctor smiled welcomingly, "Hello, this must be a bit strange for you, since you're obviously out of your time period, or in a play, either way it's probably a bit strange, yeah? Don't worry, I'm here to help, I'm the Doctor and this is Rose."

Rose beamed and gave a little wave, "Hi."

"I am King Arthur of Camelot, this is Merlin; my...companion," the blonde man told them, "do you know where we are, we just came from a forest but this one appears to be different."

"Uh, yes, I'm not entirely certain about those details, we just got here ourselves," the Doctor admitted sheepishly.

"Did you also come through one of these portals?" Merlin queried, he had noticed that there were seven here.

"Um, no, we got here via another mode of transport," the Doctor admitted, adjusting his long brown coat.

"Has anyone else come through?" Merlin asked next.

The Doctor ran a hand through his brunette hair and frowned slightly, "I don't know, like I said, we just got here and you're the first lot we've seen, but that doesn't mean others haven't come through before we arrived."

"Doctor, look!" Rose cried and the three men turned to look where Rose was pointing.

Sticking out of another portal were two long thin pieces of metal glinting in the midday sun, they stayed there for a few moments and then retreated back again without a trace.

"It looks like we may be expecting more company," the Doctor turned to the two strangers, "if you're wondering, your stick looked just as odd poking through."

"We had to test it, what if it wasn't merely a portal elsewhere? It could have been harmful," Arthur defended.

"Who says it's merely a portal?" the Doctor put out there.

Merlin and Arthur glanced at each other but the discussion ended there as they were joined by another two men. One was slender with black neat hair and a most distinguishing feature; his pointed ears. The other man had styled, short, dark blonde hair and a lean but strong build with the bluest human eyes they'd ever seen (and the Doctor had seen a lot of blue eyes). They both wore a uniform of mostly black except for their shirts. The one with the peculiar ears wore blue and the other, yellow. Both shirts adorned a symbol that the Doctor did not recognise.

The newcomers looked at the four people and stopped, they didn't seem as surprised as Merlin and Arthur, more uncertain.

"Welcome to the party," the Doctor greeted the new arrivals, "I'm the Doctor, this is Rose, Merlin and Arthur, sorry, King Arthur, should I have introduced you first? Anyway, we have all just arrived ourselves before you showed up and we don't really know much other than these are portals to what I presume are other universes," he blurted out all while staring at those pointed ears, "I'm sorry, I know a great deal of the races of the universe, that tends to happen when you're as old as I am, but I can't place where you are from."

"You speak very fast. I am Spock, of the planet Vulcan. Would it be fair to assume that you are also not human?" the blue shirted man replied in a calmer fashion.

"Oh, very good, I am a Time Lord, of the planet Gallifrey," the Doctor confessed, "you must be the brains, are you the brawn?" he turned his attention to the other man.

"This is Captain Kirk of the starship Enterprise, human, but do not underestimate his intelligence," Spock introduced the man next to him. "I do not know of the Time Lord race, nor its planet."

"Jim, to my friends," Kirk smiled and dipped his head in greeting, "Good to meet you all."

"Nor, I of the Vulcan race," the Doctor rubbed his chin, "see? Didn't I tell you this would be interesting, Rose?"

Rose rolled her eyes and shook her head slowly causing her blonde ponytail to sway but she smiled, "You find just about anything interesting,"

Arthur leant forward and raised his hand weakly, "Um, I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand, are you saying that you are not from this world?"

The Doctor looked at him, "Ah, well, yes, I know it's a lot to take in," he got out his sonic screwdriver and scanned each person, "your 'companion' isn't all he seems either though, is he? But yes, it appears that Spock and I are the only 'aliens' as it were."

Merlin and Arthur shared a guilty look, "How does your metal stick work?" Merlin inquired, swiftly changing the subject.

The Doctor held up his screwdriver, "It runs off of sonic power and can do just about anything, well, not wood; it's useless with wood," he frowned at it for a moment then looked back at Merlin and smiled, "quite a handy gadget though."

"I have a question…" Kirk said, "What planet are we on? Because it sure isn't the one we just left."

"As far as I know, we're on Earth, my reading says California, in the twentieth…no, twenty first century," the Doctor answered.

"My readings confirm that," Spock agreed studying his own gadget.

Abruptly, two men came out from the trees nearby, "So, anyone know what the hell is going on here?" enquired the slighter taller and gruffer looking of the two.

There was no time for anyone to answer, however.

"That is a very good question," another new, distinct voice chimed in from one of the portals behind them; it appeared to be a man. He then leant back into the portal and said something before strutting over to join them. He was tall and had a bad boy attractiveness to him, his dark hair and tailored suit were pristine. Another man, much more muscular and serious looking in nice, casual clothing appeared through the same portal and paused a moment as he took everyone in.

"Come over and join us, love, I'm sure this is going to be quite the case. Oh, how rude of me, I'm Lucifer Morningstar; the devil himself and this is Lieutenant Marcus Pierce," his British accent was easily recognisable; it held a certain charm though.

The two men, who had just stepped out of the forest a moment previous, both pulled weapons; a triangular silver blade and a gun, and aimed them at Lucifer whilst holding their ground.

"That's not possible, how can you be here?" there was a look of horror on the second man's face; he wore a tan trench coat over a cheap suit that had seen better days.

"Whoa, everybody calm down," the Doctor threw his hands up and moved cautiously towards the two with the weapons, "these people are likely not who you think they are, so far everyone has come from a different universe, please put away your weapons. I hate guns."

"If it helps, I certainly have no clue who you two are," Lucifer assured them.

"You'll forgive us for being sceptical; the devil has not exactly made our lives easy," the man in the trench coat told them, "however, you do not appear to be the Lucifer we know. What is your business in our universe?"

"Well, we found a hole in space and time and decided to go for a stroll. Well, I did, Marcus just likes to make sure that I don't get into too much trouble," Lucifer squinted at the man in the trench coat and blurted out "Are you an angel? I know he isn't," he motioned to his companion who was still yet to lower his gun, "but you have that air about you."

"I wouldn't have to if you'd stop wandering off through portals and the like," Marcus grumbled under his breath.

"I am Castiel, an angel of the Lord, and this is Dean Winchester, a human. A hunter in fact," Castiel announced, there was a small amount of authority in his voice with just hint of adoration.

"I am the Doctor, and I can assure you that you are in no danger from anyone here, you can relax," the Doctor promised, gesturing for them to lower their weapons.

Dean lowered his gun and slowly put it away, he motioned for Castiel to do the same with his blade. "We aren't very accustomed to trusting people we've just met, but we don't have a choice when the situation calls for it."

"Thank you," the Doctor smiled and was about to reintroduce everyone when a small coin dropped out of the closest portal, landing just in front of him. He bent down and picked up the coin, and after a moment of consideration, he stuck his head and hand through said portal, "Uh, hello, did somebody drop something?" the Doctor asked the six people standing around the other side of the portal as he held out the coin for inspection.

"Where are you from?" a skinny man in a cardigan and glasses queried.

"Ah, well now that's a long story. Why don't you come through and we'll work all this out. Don't worry, it's quite safe," the Doctor insisted. He pulled himself back out of the portal, "We have more new friends joining us," he announced to the group.

A tall lean man with black curly hair, wrapped up in a big black coat and blue scarf, followed by a shorter, stockier and slightly older man with neat greying blonde hair stepped into the forest and joined the assembly.

"Sherlock Holmes, I'm a consulting detective; the only consulting detective and this is Dr John Watson," proclaimed the first man.

"I'm his blogger," added John.

"You are more than just a blogger John," they both shared a look and then Sherlock turned back to the group, "Now, I've deduced that this isn't some kind of bizarre fancy dress, or a sort of gay lover's convention, however there is a lot going on here isn't there?" Sherlock paused and scanned each person before continuing, "Yes, you two have been having the same argument repeatedly for some time," he directed the comment at Lucifer and Marcus, "You were the first ones here by accident," that was for the Doctor and Rose. Next was Merlin, "You have a big secret that you hide from everyone," lastly he turned to Spock, "and either you were unfortunate or you're an alien."

"Sherlock, that's enough," John hushed him in a tone that said it wasn't the first time this had happened.

"Ooo, very clever! Can you tell me what number I'm thinking of?" the Doctor said excitedly, what an interesting individual.

"It doesn't work like that; I'm not a mind reader. However, the number is twelve," Sherlock told him matter-of-factly.

"Oh, very good! You are an interesting one. Now, I think we should all introduce ourselves to the group and say a little about ourselves as our new friends Sherlock and John just did," suggested the Doctor, he thought it might help them be more relaxed with each other and have more of a team feeling.

"I'm James T Kirk, Captain of the starship Enterprise, of the United Federation of Planets, this is my first officer Mr Spock; we are from the future," Jim spoke first, introducing himself and his companion.

Merlin stepped forward, "This is King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot and I am Merlin. I would take a guess that we are from a time more in the past than anyone else here."

"It would be most interesting to learn about where you are from, if time permits it later," Spock interjected.

"Of course, it can't hurt to have allies such as yourselves," King Arthur agreed, "while learning about you both in return.

Lucifer raised his hand lightly and stepped forward, "Lucifer Morningstar, I own a nightclub in LA, on vacation from hell. This cheery, handsome chap-" he clapped Marcus on the shoulder, "is Lieutenant Marcus Pierce of the LAPD, also biblically known as Cain."

Dean and Castiel looked at each other.

Marcus rolled his eyes at Lucifer's words but didn't comment.

"Dean Winchester, I'm a hunter of anything and everything that goes bump in the night, this is the angel on my shoulder; Castiel. My brother Sam, and his Archangel other half, Gabriel, are in town, we came here looking for werewolves but found you lot instead, so you can imagine our surprise," Dean offered.

"Aliens, angels, and now werewolves? This is madness!" King Arthur exclaimed.

Merlin touched his King's arm, "Madder than some of the things we have seen and fought against? You must remember that we each come from a different place and time, Sire."

The King gave Merlin a look that said he didn't like being called 'sire' and brushed his fingers over Merlin's arm and squeezed it gently, "You're right Merlin, I apologise for my outburst friends; this is all very strange, that's all."

The Doctor glanced at Dean who seemed a bit more at ease now, and he was relieved that King Arthur could be reasonable about the odd situation they had all found themselves in.

"Quite alright, and I am the Doctor, a Time Lord, I came here in a blue box and I travel through space and time with my lovely companion, Rose," he gestured to her and she smiled and gave a small wave, "I'll admit it's a bit odd to not be the oldest being in the room, or forest rather."

"And just how old are you, Doctor?" Kirk enquired.

The Doctor fiddled with his screwdriver and said, "Oh, closer to a thousand years than five hundred years, let's put it that way shall we."

Castiel spoke next, about a completely different topic, however, "Doctor or Spock, can either of your devices tell if anyone has come through the other portals?"

"You think-?" Dean started.

"Yes it would make sense, otherwise it is a rather large coincidence and I don't think we are in the habit of believing in such things," Castiel answered the unasked question.

Spock and the Doctor both went about the task of scanning each portal with their respective device.

"It would appear that each of the portals has been 'used.' However the energy disruption seemed to have happened hours ago, it would have been yesterday here," Spock reported and re-joined his Captain who subtly held out his pointer and middle finger together towards the Vulcan. They were briefly met by the same fingers of Spock's.

The Doctor confirmed what Spock had stated and noticed their small display, it seemed personal, but he was intrigued so he decided to ask them about it later.

"The werewolf we are after may have come from one of these portals then; there was an accident yesterday on the road nearby; a man was hit and taken to hospital, we believe him to be the werewolf. This town, Beacon Hills, has a reputation for supernatural occurrences," Castiel brought them up to speed with why they were there.

"I assume these sorts of creatures are common here if you hunt them. Do you kill them once they are found?" Merlin put forward the query.

Dean swallowed before he answered, "If a monster kills or harms a human then we kill it. That's usually what monsters do, so often we do kill them. Werewolves are a fairly common monster though, yeah."

"Fascinating," commented Spock, his hands seemed to be clasped firmly behind his back; he was such a rigid being.

"Interesting," Sherlock remarked, he had a glint in his eyes that said all this was exciting him.

"Not every monster is out to kill humans though, some find other ways to sustain their needs and lead quiet, peaceful lives. Some were human themselves at some point. Our job is more than hunting monsters and killing them," Castiel added.

"Tame monsters, how lovely," Lucifer joked.

"What if we came along on this 'hunt', it may be a better idea to get the creature home rather than kill it, you do not know anything about it or where it comes from. It may not be the same thing as what you're used to," the Doctor suggested. He could see that the hunter and his angel were reluctant from the way they shared a look, "We don't know how long these portals will be open for, and I'm sure everyone would like to be back home when they close. We should also look for the other people who came through before. The situation is a bit unclear and I think it would be better to stick together to ensure everyone gets home safely. Is that an acceptable proposal for everyone?" the Doctor directed to all his new friends.

Everyone seemed to share glances between themselves and moments later there was a collective nod and they were all in agreement to help everyone get home safe, werewolves or not.

"Right well we should get a move on then, where do we start?" Marcus wondered aloud.

Dean pulled out his cell phone, "Our brothers just went to the hospital to check out a lead. I'll check in with them and see where they're at," he then held up the phone and took a few photos of the portals and everyone standing in front of them. He hit some buttons on the phone and put it up to his ear as he moved away from the group just out of ear shot.

Each pair began to talk one another, the Doctor wandered over to Rose and gave her a peck on the cheek, "You've been quiet," he observed.

"Just been watching everything and taking it all in. I think this is possibly the oddest collection of people I've ever seen," Rose stated thoughtfully.

The Doctor looked back at everyone, "Indeed, what a curious bunch we are."

"Do you think they're all…together? Like, each pair seems to be a bit more familiar with each other than just friends or colleagues, and Sherlock made the comment of a gay convention," Rose wondered.

"Hmm, you could be right," He hadn't really thought about it but now that Rose mentioned it, each of them had displayed their own type of personal connection.

Dean came back to the group then, he spoke to Castiel momentarily and then addressed everyone, "So, our brothers have checked into a hotel near the hospital, Cas will take you to the location and I will meet you there. We can figure out what our next step is from there."

"How are you going to transport twelve people? I doubt you own a mini bus," John queried.

"No, he's more of an American muscle car type of person," Sherlock declared casually.

The Doctor was also intrigued as to the transport method, of course they could all go in the TARDIS but he didn't really want that to be their first option.

"You are right, John, I do not, however I do have an angel boyfriend that can basically teleport everyone to where we need to be. I will drive my 'American muscle car' and meet you there. Any objections?" Dean informed them.

A smile bloomed on the Doctor's face; Sherlock had been right again, he briefly wondered how the man had learnt these tricks.

"No objections, Dean," the Doctor turned to Merlin and King Arthur, "Oh, just so we are all on the same page; a car is like an automatic cart, you are going to see a lot of things you probably won't understand," he informed them.

Merlin laughed, "We were a bit confused, I'm sure we will have learnt a lot before we return home."

"Thank you for the clarification," King Arthur added.

"Who's first?" Castiel asked.

"At the risk of sounding sceptical, how do we know we will come out on the other side?" Captain Kirk put forward.

"You don't, but as I have learnt, trust is a very fragile but tangible thing, and we have given it to you all, we only ask for a little in return," Castiel answered, he had a formal way of saying things but there was this underlying tone that said he had seen and done a lot and it had changed him.

"Marcus and I will go first; it's not really anything new to me," Lucifer volunteered.

"Great," Castiel stepped up to both of them and touched a hand to one of each of their shoulders, the next moment the two men were gone, "Next."

Two by two (like Noah's ark) everyone was transported to the new location. Dean had left to go back to his car and it was just the Doctor and Rose left.

"Ready?" Castiel asked.

They nodded and then they were transported through time and space, only it wasn't in the way they were used to.
