The Next Day.
"I have to ask Mox what's the deal with you and Kate?" Robert Anthony asked. He was an old friend of Jon's from his CZW/Indie days. They brought him to AEW for a few matches and Mox was thrilled to reconnect with him.
"Just friends man." Moxley asked.
"Just friends huh? Is that why you haven't stopped checking her out since she got ring side?" Robert asked as they were going over their AEW After Dark match.
"Not sure what you are talking about man." Moxley said putting him in a head lock.
Robert laughed. "Bro we've known each other a long time you can't bull shit a bull shitter."
Robert countered and tried to put Mox on his back. To which Mox countered and shoved him into the ring ropes.
Kate kept glancing up at the guys in the ring. She loved working in AEW it was more low key and less dramatic. She felt comfortable. She was stocking the ring side medical bag when she heard some one clear their throat and lean up against the barricade.
"Hey Sunshine need any help?" Kenny asked.
"No thanks Kenny I'm actually almost done." She said putting the few items in the bag.
"So have you thought about my little offer?" Kenny asked as he was checking her out.
"I have thought about it." Kate stated.
"So is that a yes?"
Moxley looked over at Kate seeing Kenny talk to her. He growled and slammed Robert to the mat hard making the ring bounce.
"Damn Mox. A little warning next time." Robert choked out.
"Sorry bro you alright?" Moxley asked helping him up as he noticed what Mox was looking.
"Your jealous man." Robert said.
"I am not." Moxley said.
"Do you want to go over there and punch Kenny in the face?" Robert asked with a chuckle.
"Yes I told him to stay away from Kate." Moxley told him.
"Why? Why did you tell him that?" Robert asked his friend.
"Because I don't want him near her." Moxley stated.
"You want her for yourself makes sense."
"I didn't say that."
"You didn't have to Mox I see the way you look at her. I can tell you've fallen for her."
"It doesn't matter how I maybe feeling. We are both technically still married." Moxley said. "So it's not like I can do anything."
"Dude lame excuse. Renee is already with another dude we both know that. Kate is living with you take that chance bro." Robert said.
Moxley thought about it as he looked back over at Kenny smiling and laughing with Kate.
"So what do you say just come out for a drink with me? A few of us are going out tonight after the show." Kenny smiled.
"Just a drink huh?" Kate said to him.
"Just a couple drinks and maybe a dance."
"Yeah could be fun I'll go." Kate agreed.
"Great see you after the show." He winked at her walking away.
With Seth.
"When Mommy coming back?" Ella asked as she was coloring at the table in the hotel room.
"Hopefully tonight sweet heart. Did you like that Mommy and Daddy took you out for breakfast?" Seth asked her as he was playing with Jaxon on the bed.
"Yeah it yummy." Ella said.
"What about you my boy did you like it?" He asked as he held Jaxon's hands and let him jump on the bed.
"doood." He giggled jumping and laughing.
"So Ella does Mommy and Uncle Mox sleep in the same room?" Seth asked as he looked over at his daughter.
"Not all the times." She said. "Momma sweeps in the room by mines room. Jax and I tare a room." Ella shrugged.
Seth nodded. He didn't know how he was going to do it but he knew he had to get his wife back.
"Is Uncle Mox nice to you too?"
"Yes he gives me tandy and dot me more bubbles. Oh and he dot us a pool." Ella smiled.
"Wow that's nice of him." Seth said feeling bad that he didn't get his kids those things.
"He dot ouchies." Jaxon said poking at his Dad's face.
"Who got an ouchie?" Seth asked.
Ella started laughing. "Uncle Moxie does. He hurts his butt."
"Oh he did? How do you both know that?" Seth asked looking at his children.
"Mommy takes tare of him. She made him put ice on his butt and he sit funny too." Ella laughed.
Seth just nodded as he started to feel his blood boil a little bit and his heart felt empty. Was Jon Moxley his supposed Shield brother trying to take his family away from him?
Later that evening.
"Before you enter this ring … shut the music! Before you enter this ring just think and be careful. I promise you that." Taz said.
Moxley shook his head and chuckled not thinking twice he got into the ring.
"This is fun!" Moxley said strutting around the ring a little with the AEW World Championship over his shoulder. "Well Taz the reason I was smiling last week, the reason I am smiling right now is because the thought of stepping in the ring with Brian Cage. With that level of intensity with that level of aggression and going to absolute war. Well that makes me happy. That's why I'm in this business. But be very very clear stepping into the ring with me with my title on the line is the farthest thing from a game. Brian Cage! You are impressive! The machine seemingly indestructible. I am far from indestructible. I am only human. I can be beat. But dude it would take you all night long and that's my point. You were right Taz when you said Brian Cage is a different thing entirely than anybody else in AEW. But I am a different thing entirely taking the AEW world championship away from me is a different prospect entirely. And you are gonna find that out at Fyter Fest when you are in over your head. And you realize you are swimming with a different breed of shark. With all due respect gentlemen don't waste your time or mine trying to intimidate me. And the next time you want to bring my name up on TV just remember exactly who the hell you're talking about!" He stated as he dropped the mic and looked at Brian Cage and Taz before leaving the ring.
"I swear his promos only got better with time." Robert said to Kate as they were walking the screen.
"Agreed. I am so just happy he can actually give a promo the way he wants too. I know it was getting so hard for him during his last WWE heel run. Seth didn't make it easy but the promos they just weren't Mox." Kate said. "But he is happier now and that is what matters most."
"He is way more happy now. Not just in his career if you know what I mean." Robert said with a smiled.
"Not gonna lie was never a fan of the way Renee treated him. But it was his choice he's a grown man but something about her just rubbed me the wrong way. I want to see him happy whatever that means if he chooses to get back together with her or he chooses to move on. He deserves to he happy." Kate said as she noticed Moxley was rubbing his back side walking towards the trainers room and pointing toward the door. Kate gave him a nod that she would be there in a few minutes.
"I know I don't know you that well but you deserve to be happy to Kate. Whatever that may look like for you. All I can do is give you the same advice I gave Moxley trust yourself and your heart. It wont steer you wrong." Robert told her.
"Thanks and very sound advice. Mox is lucky to have you in his life." Kate smiled patting his shoulder before walking back to the trainers room.
Later that Night.
"Thanks for agreeing to come get a drink with me." Kenny smiled getting his beer then handing Kate the cocktail she ordered.
"Of course I said I would think about it and I did." She smiled as she took a sip of her drink.
A group from AEW headed to a local bar to unwind after another great show.
"Dude you're staring again." Robert said as he made his pool shot.
"What the hell is she doing?" Moxley said chugging his beer.
"You say you don't like her like that but bro I am actually kicking your ass in pool." Robert said as he noticed now Moxley wasn't even paying attention to him. "How about we raise the stakes a million dollars to the winner."
"Yeah sure fine Ego whatever." Moxley said clearly not paying attention his eyes still on Kate and Kenny.
"You're hair looks cute this way." Kenny smiled tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Thanks. I went with high lights thought it would look cute then just went a little shorter." Kate smiled.
"Glad it's not to short. This length is perfect for you and the high lights bring out your eyes." He smiled.
"You are just full of compliments aren't you?" Kate laughed as she took another sip of her drink.
"Oh just you wait sunshine." Kenny smiled. "Anata wa utsukushīdesu'" He said looking into her eyes.
"What did you just say?" She asked again taking another drink.
"I said you are beautiful in Japanese." He smiled touching her cheek softly.
Kate bit her lip. "Thank you."
"How about that dance?" Kenny asked.
Kate didn't say anything as he took her hand and went over to the dance floor. Moxley eyes were on them both as they started dancing.
"I guess this pool game is over." Robert said shaking his head and Moxley downed another beer.
"Huh? Yeah good game bro." Moxley said.
"Go cut in." Robert stated doing the head tilt towards the dance floor.
"You know I am not much of a dancer."
"So what? Clearly it's bothering you at Kenny has his hands on Kate." He said.
"What makes you say that?" Moxley asked through clenched teeth.
"Like I said I've known you for a long time. Your teeth and fists are clenched not to mention you haven't taken your eyes off her since Kenny went near her."
"Kate shouldn't be wearing that black and white top it's showing off to much and those pants? Look at her ass in those pants." He stated.
"Just go cut in." Robert said patting Moxley's back as he took a deep breath and headed over to the dance floor.
When a slow song started Kenny put his hands on Kate's waist pulling him close to her. She put her arms around his neck as they started to dance.
"What do you say you and me get out of here?" Kenny asking looking down at her.
"My turn." Moxley said coming over to them.
"Nah we're good." Kenny said.
"Oh I wasn't asking Omega I was telling." Moxley said chest bumping him.
"Dude She agreed to dance with me." Kenny said looking at Kate as she let go him.
"Now it's my turn." Jon said as they were now chest to chest.
"Stop both of you are gonna make a scene." Kate said wiggling her way in between them.
"He started it!" Kenny said.
Moxley didn't say anything his eyes locked on Omega. Kate hadn't ever seen that look in his eyes before.
"Mox look at me!" Kate said his eyes locked on Omega still. "JON!" Kate said as he finally looked down at her.
"Let's just get out of here and head home please?" Moxley asked taking her hand.
"Yeah alright we can do that. But I am driving you've clearly had to much to drink." She said reaching into his pocket and getting the key.
"Kate call this drunk ass a cab and we can continue our night." Omega said smacking her booty.
"Don't touch her like that again!" Mox growled.
"Or what Jon Moxley? What are you gonna do?" Kenny smirked knowing he was now pushing his buttons.
"Kenny stop! Thank you for the drink and the dance. But Jon's right it's time we left. I have to get my kids in the morning." Kate said. "Jon we can go it's fine." She said taking his hand.
"He shouldn't be touching you like that." Jon said as they were heading towards the door.
The ride back to the house was quiet. Kate didn't really know what just happened. She didn't think it was a big deal to hang out with Kenny but clearly it upset Moxley. When they got back to the house Moxley went over to the fridge and grabbed some water and downed it.
"Jon what was that?" Kate asked coming into the kitchen looking at him leaning up against the counter.
"I didn't like his hands on you alright." Moxley stated.
"It wasn't appropriate because I am Seth's wife." Kate said. "I know that. He asked me out for a drink and I thought he was harmless. It was nice to be wooed for once so to say."
"It's not about Seth. Fuck Seth!" Moxley stated.
"Mox if it's not about Seth then what?" Kate asked looking at her friend was clearly drunk.
"You Kate it's about you! Every time Kenny touches you I want to punch him. If any guy is gonna touch you it's gonna be me!" He said moving over towards Kate.
"Jon what are you saying?"
"I am jealous OK! I don't like that about myself but I am jealous when you are around Omega and Seth I want to fucking punch him in his baby dick for hurting you."
"Why would you be jealous?"
"Kate I like you alright! I don't know when our friendship changed but clearly it has in some way I like you as more than a friend. Kit!" Moxley said pulling her into him and touching her face softly. "You are sweet, kind and always taking care of everything and not to mention sexy as hell. So how could I not fall for you?" He said.
Kate stood there looking into his eyes speechless as Moxley caressed her cheek with his thumb and bent down his lips touched hers for a kiss.
