Several Days later.
"Is that Seth again?" Moxley asked glancing down at Kate's phone buzzing.
"Yes again." Kate said staring at her phone then glancing back at the kids.
Ella and Jaxon were in the back seat of Jon's truck both watching a moving until Jaxon had fallen asleep. They were on their way to South Carolina. It was less than a four hour drive from Jacksonville so Jon agreed to drive.
"Not gonna answer it?" Jon chuckled turning his attention back to the road.
"I don't want to fight with him again. The last three conversations have all been the same. He wants to know who leaked the affair to the dirt sheets and how the fans have turned on him and how they are treating Becky like shit. That's not my fault. I didn't say any thing to anyone. Being honest some of his fan girls have been blaming me so I've been avoiding social media. Not really sure what he wants from me at this point." Kate said glancing back at the kids again.
"If I ever find out who leaked that to the dirt sheets I will kick their fu … ass." Jon stated as he glanced back in the review mirror. He was starting to watch his language around the kids. Ever since the other day when Jaxon said "oh fuck" when he dropped a toy.
"That's sweet Mox but you'll have to beat me too it. Seth insists he didn't do it. Then got annoyed when I suggested that maybe Becky said something to someone. I didn't say anything , you told me you didn't say anything. So who did? Who actually knew about Seth and Becky." Kate said taking a drink of her water.
"I don't know babe. I really don't."
"I know. I do want to say thanks again for coming to this party with me. I know it's not how want to spend your days off." Kate said.
"Any time. Besides I want to meet the parents." Moxley smiled.
"Mox you've met my parents a few times." Kate laughed.
"Yeah but that was different. This time I have to impress them." He winked.
"You are something else. But good news is my Dad already liked you so I think you wont have to try to hard to impress them. Now my mom she wasn't sure about you." She chuckled.
"Oh Moms love me. By the end of the weekend your mom will be in love with me." Jon said all cocky.
"We will just have to see about that." Kate smiled.
"Oh we will you are gonna be so jealous cause your Mom is gonna fall for me." Jon chuckled. "She may even leave your Dad and run away with me."
"Really? On her anniversary?" Kate laughed as Jon had softly grabbed her hand at some point and held it in his.
"Stranger shit has happened." He winked.
A couple hours later.
"Mommy we almost dare?" Ella asked from the back seat.
"Yes princess almost there." Kate smiled looking back at the kids as Jaxon was chilling in his car seat looking out the window rocking his sun glasses. "Mox you are going to turn here." She pointed down a side road.
"Here?" Moxley asked turning right.
"Yep." She smiled. "You see this large house down that long drive way?"
"Yeah that huge ass one?" Moxley asked pointing as he was chewing his gum.
"Yes that one. That is actually my Grandfather Garrett's house. My Dad was raised there."
"Damn bet it's haunted." He chuckled.
"It's not haunted. Well not that I know of anyway." She teased.
As they drove another five or six miles she had him pull into another drive way.
"This is my parents house and where I grew up." Kate smiled as Moxley stopped and parked the car looking out the window at the nice southern style modern looking home.
"The child hood home of Kate Callaway." Moxley smiled.
"You could say that." Kate said looking up at the house.
"You alright?" Moxley asked her.
"Yeah fine. Just a lot of memories." Kate said.
As they got out of the car Kate got Ella out of her car seat as Moxley got Jaxon out of his as he stretched and giggled. Ridge and Lynnette Kate's parents had come out of the house to great them.
"Grammy! Papa!" Ella yelled with excitement as she ran to her Grandparents.
"HI my Ella bug!" Lynnette smiled hugging her Granddaughter.
"There is my little Ella girl. Hey did you get taller since I saw you last?" Ridge asked scooping her up and giving her hugs.
"Papa." She giggled.
"Hi Mom. HI Dad." Kate smiled as they walked over towards her parents. "You remember Jon?"
"I do welcome to South Carolina Jon." Ridge said extending his hand.
"Thank you for having me." Jon said shaking his hand. As Jon also greeted Lynnette.
"And who is this young man? This can't be my grandson he is still a baby." Ridge smiled bopping his little nose.
"I big Papa!" Jaxon giggled.
"That you are my boy." Ridge smiled.
As they went inside and settled into the living room the kids went to play with the toys in the den.
"Can I offer you a drink Jon?" Ridge asked.
"A water sir." He said.
Ridge laughed. "How about something a little stronger than water?"
"That sounds perfect Mr. Callaway." Jon said still a little nervous.
"You can call me Ridge." He stated as he started making a couple of Mint Juleps. "Here you go." He said handing one to Mox.
"Thanks Sir." Jon said sipping his drink.
"Had to give him a Mint Julep a Dad?" Kate smiled coming into the room.
"Of course Lady Bug. It's the Southern way of life." He smiled sipping his drink.
"Do you like it?" Kate asked sitting down next to Jon.
"It's not half bad. Just a little sweeter that I am use to. It's like sunshine in a glass." Jon chuckled offering her a drink. As Kate smiled and took a drink.
"Ooo yeah! Dad went a little heavier on the bourbon and powder sugar." Kate said taking another drink of Jon's drink.
"Same family recipe Lady bug." Ridge smiled taking a drink of his as he sat down across from them. "So Jon what is it that you normally drink?"
"I like a good Jack and Coke. Which is best if you use real Mexican coke it's got real sugar in it." Jon smiled. "Or just a good old beer Heineken or a Pabst Blue Ribbon."
Ridge smiled and nodded as Kate handed Jon back his glass.
"So I have to say I watched AEW Dynamite this week." Ridge stated sipping his glass.
"You did?" Kate asked a little shocked.
"Yes Katie I did. Don't act so shocked. I have to admit it actually kept my attention. You getting tossed into that car had to hurt. Are you alright?" Ridge asked.
"Yes sir I am fine. I have an amazing nurse who is always looking out for me." Jon winked at Kate.
Ridge smiled as he was watching Jon and Kate together.
"So you have to fight the guy who attacked you or the man that talks for him?" Ridge asked to clarify.
"I will be facing the one that attacked me from behind. Brian Cage or as Kate calls him the wild ape like man child." Moxley chuckled nudging Kate.
"Mox come on you know I am right." She giggled.
"He is a beast that's for sure. But I am not gonna let him win my title." Jon said in promo voice.
"Even if it means hurting your self more. Your tail bone is barely healed and I worry about your neck." Kate said rubbing his neck out of instinct.
"Like I said it's a good thing I have an amazing nurse in my corner." Jon smiled.
The spent the rest of the afternoon making small talk. Ridge asking Jon questions about his life and of course telling stories and showing photos of Kate growing up. After dinner Ridge and Lynnette were inside with the kids while Kate took Jon for a walk around her family's land. Kate didn't noticed that at some point they were holding hands.
"WOW Kit so your family owns all this?" Jon asked as they made their way down to the dock near a pound.
"Yeah. This land has been in my family for generations. I am sorry that my Dad talked your ear off all afternoon and asked personal questions. I think he is under the impression we're dating or something." Kate said as she stopped looking over the water.
"Would that be the worst thing in the world?" Moxley asked spinning her so they were facing each other.
"Mox you know I care about you but I just can't commit to anyone right now. I am still married and a much as I have tried to avoid it. I have to figure out what the next step is for me and Seth. Do we try and work it out or do we official call it quits. You also need to do the same with Renee." Kate said looking into his eyes.
"I did. I officially filed for divorce last week." Jon stated.
"Oh Jon. I'm sorry why didn't you tell me?" Kate asked.
"I was going to then all this shit went down with the dirt sheets. I figured it could wait it's not that big of a deal." He stated.
"Jonathon it is a big deal your marriage is ending. I am so sorry." Kate said.
A smile appeared on Jon's face. "You've never called me Jonathon before. But Kate listen my marriage has been over for a while. It was time for me to face that fact. I don't know where I go from here but one thing I know is that I couldn't have gotten through the last few months with out you. So I can only hope my future has you in it."
"I am sorry Jon I know this can't be easy and it wasn't an easy choice for you to make. Listen we are friends and I will always be here for you. But I just really need to think about what is best for me and the kids. Jon whatever future you see I hope you know that my kids mean everything to me they have to come first." Kate stated.
"Kit I know that they are your world and I care about them too. But I just ask that you make the choice for you and what you really want. Don't stay with him because you think that is what the kids need."
"What we really need is time. Seth said something to me about how being apart wasn't working. He had a point there it's not working but being together wasn't working either. So I just don't know what to do any more."
Jon took a deep breathe and looked into her eyes.
"I think maybe it's time for you and the kids to head home to Iowa. You just need to figure this out Kit just know that no matter what you both decide I will always be here for you." He said touching her face softly.
"Thanks Jon you are amazing." She said as she placed her head on his shoulder as they watched the sun go down together.
Back at the house Ridge and Lynnette were playing with their grandchildren.
"I like that Jon. He's a hell of a guy sounds like he had a rough childhood but man did he crawl out of that and make something of himself." Ridge said.
"He's a nice guy and all but he's not for our Katie." Lynnette said.
"Why because of his past? Sure he's a little rough around the edges but the way Katie smiles around. This is just different."
"It's not is past. It's the fact that Katie is married to Seth as much as I hate him right now and I want to smack him for breaking her heart. She really needs to work on her marriage. She can't just up and leave Seth because of one little rough patch." Lynnette said. "They have these two beautiful kids to think about."
"You want Katie to stay with Seth even thou he cheated on her?" Ridge asked.
"You want her to give up on her marriage? You don't even believe in divorce Ridge." Lynnette said.
"He cheated on my daughter not only that but he doesn't seem to care. That is what I have a problem with. She's been through hell Lynn you know that. Trent fooled me into thinking he was a great guy and we almost lost our daughter because of him. Seth I thought he was different he came into her life and I had my guard up but he fit in he was sweet and nice and he fooled me too. He broke Katie's heart all for another woman. It wasn't just a one night stand it's a relationship. I know marriage isn't easy believe me I know that but how does Kate just turned a blind eye how is that fair to her?" Ridge asked.
"I don't know honey. I don't have those answers that is for Kate and Seth to figure out. But having Jon in her life right now confuses her. She needs to go home and work on the marriage she has and not turn to another man. That wont solve anything. I am mad at Seth too for breaking her heart, but I really thought she would have tried harder to save her marriage not quite her job." Lynnette said. "I just hope Seth can talk to her before it's far to late."
"Lynn honey bee what did ya do?" Ridge asked looking at his wife.
"I asked Seth to come to the party he is our son in law, the father to our grandchildren. He should be here with his family." She said.
Ridge just shook his head not sure this was a great idea but standing by his wife's choice to invite their son in law.
Kate and Jon made their way back up towards the house.
"This place is amazing." Jon said looking around.
"They say no place like home." Kate said as her phone buzzed she looked down as she read the text message from Seth.
"I can't wait to see you and the kids tomorrow. I know things haven't been easy for us but I am hoping we can enjoy your parents anniversary together as a family. Please know that I am so sorry. I love you Kate."
