"Hey mom. I talked with my teacher and I told her that you were willing to participate in the carnival fundraise. She told me to tell you that she put you in charge of the kissing booth."
"Excuse me." Miranda almost yelled.
"Don't worry mom it's not for the kids it's for the adults. There is a male kissing booth and a female." Tucker said trying to calm her but only added stress to her plate.
"So you signed your mother up to kiss Men as a fundraiser. When I said I wanted to participate. I meant financially. I wanted to donate money, not my time or my mouth." Miranda yelled at her 10 year old.
Her son basically just sold her out.
The thought of kissing multiple men made Miranda want to pass out. It was disgusting.
"I'm sorry mom. I can tell her to take it back." Tuck said realizing the effect this had on his mother.
Looking at him sad because she was angry made her click her teeth.
"It's okay Tuck I'll do it. I'm just going write a note. You take it back to your teacher. I'm giving her my terms. " Miranda said hugging him.
"The carnival is next Friday evening." Tuck said running to his room.
Miranda rolled her eyes. The things she would do for her child.
Miranda went to work Friday and she walked to through the halls.
"Hey Bailey what are you doing after work. Did you want to go to Joe's for drinks." Callie asked catching up to her.
"Can't." Miranda mumbled.
"Why do you sound so angry." Callie's asked looking at her face.
"I have to go to Tuck's stupid carnival fundraiser tonight." Miranda whined.
"Wow that's not how you normally act when it's something to do with Tuck. What happened? Is Tucker going to be there ?" Callie fished around to get to the bottom of her attitude.
"No it's just that my dear ol son signed me up to be the main event of a kissing booth." Miranda mumbled.
Callie bursted into a loud laugh.
"Whew, are you serious?"
Miranda side eye her to tell give her a warning. Why would she joke like that.
"Well since we are all off, I'll come and could buy 100 tickets and you kiss me." Callie offered.
Miranda turned to face her. "I love you Callie, you are my best friend but you don't have to rescue me like that." Miranda laughed.
"How do you need to be rescued?" Derek asked walking up to them.
"Miranda is the head line for the kissing booth at Tucks school.
Derek laughed before saying "I'll come kiss you Bailey."
"You will do not such thing, no one will be kissing me."
"Excuse me." Webber asked walking up.
"Nothing Chief." Miranda said walking away.
Miranda put on some high waisted jeans and tucked her black tank top in her jeans making sure it was smooth before putting on her cropped jean jacket. She grabbed her black boots and put them on.
She looked in the mirror and was satisfied with her look. She decided to put on light make-up. After she was finished. She grabbed her purse and walked to the door.
"Tuck. Come on and don't forget your bags so you can stay the night at Michael's house." Miranda yelled out.
After a couple of minutes she heard Tuck jog to the door.
"Alright I'm ready ma." Tuck said as Miranda opened the door for them to walk out.
Ben walked around with his friend John, a fellow doctor from anesthesiology. He had to take his two kids to their school carnival while his wife was stuck on call. So Ben told him he would keep him company.
He watched as the kids got on the merry go round.
"Aye Ben you see there is a kissing booth." John said. Ben didn't even bother turning around.
"Why don't you go buy some tickets and get you some kisses."
"uhhh no thanks. " Ben said looking at him with an uninterested face.
John laughed " I don't know why."
Ben turned in the direction of the kissing booth before his eyes got wide when he saw the women standing at the booth. "I've changed my mind." Ben said and John watched him walk over to the booth.
"You are beautiful." Were the first words that flew out his mouth when he walked over to her.
Her face held a look of unamused until she'd seen him. He was incredibly handsome.
"Uh thank you." Miranda whispered and blushed.
"are you interested in getting a kiss tonight?" Miranda asked. She still wanted to sound professional.
"That depends." Ben said slowly as he looked her up and down taking in her curvy body.
"on what." Miranda asked with a sly smile not messing at beat.
"Are you the one doing the kissing." Ben asked licking his lips. Never in his life had he been this flirty nor forward but this women was a goddess.
"Yes sir. I'm the kiss." Miranda said slowly dragging out her words. She didn't know what came over her but she wanted this man and for the first time tonight she was actually excited and glad to be there.
"if you want a kiss, the tickets." Miranda held the tickets up showing him "are two dollars a piece." Miranda said smiling.
Ben pulled out his wallet and grabbed a hundred dollar bill.
" well let's get started." Ben said handing it to her as Miranda smiled grabbing it out of his hand putting it into her back pocket. She was trying to be sexy but she honestly was nervous. He was so dam sexy and she hasn't been kissed by anyone in almost two years and here she was her first person tonight.
Miranda pushed all of her feelings aside and she leaned in over the booth to brush her lips against his. The second her lips touched his, it was a fire that ignited between them. Ben deepened the kiss by thrusting his tongue inside of her mouth. Miranda moaned and reached out putting her hands on the side of his face. She desperately wanted to get as close to him as possible. If they kept going he would've pulled her across the booth to get to him and she was honestly okay with that.
When they pulled apart. Miranda licked her lips and stared into his eyes as her heart raced and she tried to catch her breath. "Wow that was." Miranda couldn't even find the right words as she fanned herself with her hand. "Yeah it was." Ben grinned and leaned in for another kiss.
John watched Ben and Miranda kiss and kiss and kiss. After 20 minutes. John walked over "hey me and the kids will be over by the concession."
"Okay I will be right here." Ben said and Miranda laughed loudly leaning in, claiming Ben's lips for another explosive kiss.
The kisses they were doing were inappropriate for a kids carnival.
It was two men in line that were angry with Ben for taking so long. Ben turned around and licked his lips. " You might as well leave. We are just getting our stride." Ben said as he reached into his wallet and pulled out another hundred dollars. Turning around to hand it to her.
Other people got into her line and Miranda shooed them away while keeping her lips on him. She didn't even know this handsome man's name. This man was giving her pleasure with just his mouth. It swirled around her body until it reached her toes.
"Mmm" Miranda moaned against his mouth once more.
"Times is up." Miranda said against his mouth. Pushing her hands against his chest
Miranda looked Behind him and saw other people standing in line. It was a nice looking guy standing behind him. "What's your name." Ben asked staring at her.
"Miranda." She responded.
"How much for you to put sold out on this and close up shop." Ben asked.
"Are you trying to buy me out sir. Because I can't be bought." Miranda teased.
"My name is Benjamin but I go by Ben and Miranda I honestly don't want you to kiss anyone else. So how much." Ben said reaching for his wallet.
"300 will finish out this roll of tickets"
Ben handed her 3 more hundred dollars bills. "Alright folks. Shop is closed." Miranda said handing Ben the whole roll of tickets. Ben came around the booth and pulled Miranda into him kissing her once more, sliding his hands across her body until it reached down to her bottom, grabbing a handful.
Miranda ran her hand up and down the sides of his body.
" Miranda come enjoy the carnival with me." Ben said
"Okay." Miranda said smiling and Ben held out his hand for her to grab. Miranda walked with him to go turn the money in to the head coordinator.
Ben and Miranda walked around playing games with their hands connected. " So are you a teacher here." Ben asked.
Miranda tossed a ring for the ring toss game. " No I am a surgeon. Seattle Grace." Miranda said looking up at him.
Ben smiled she was short, beautiful, curvy and intelligent. She really was a dream.
"What bout you Benjamin." Miranda asked tossing another ring. She figured he probably was a gym teacher or science.
"Anesthesiologists. Mercy West." Ben replied. Miranda's mouth gaped, he was a man that was on her level. This only made her want him more.
" So how did you end up at a kissing booth." Ben asked .
"Oh my-
"Hey Ma." Tuck said as Miranda unlocked her hands from Ben's.
"You are done at the booth.?"
"Yeah, I had a sale out." Miranda replied nudging Ben.
"This is Ben." Miranda said to Tuck. She didn't know what to call him, seeing as how they just meet.
" Hello it's nice to meet you." Tuck said before turning back to Miranda.
"Ma, can I get your keys to grab my night bag. I'm getting ready to go." Tuck said as Miranda reached into her pocket and handed him the keys.
"That's my son. Me and my ex husband co-parent. He is 10." Miranda said as she smiled.
"He looks like a great kid." Ben replied as Tuck came back handing her the keys. I will see you Sunday Tuck said hugging her.
"Be good, I love you and have a good time. Make sure you call your father this weekend." Miranda said as she hugged him and watched him walk away.
"Soo, now that this is ending. I don't really want this to end." Ben said pointing between the two of them. "Would you go out to dinner with me." Ben asked scratching the back of his head. Nervously.
"Yeah sure. I would really like that."
"Okay great. You want to ride together or meet up. " Ben asked.
"Um I can ride with you. We can leave my car here. It should be fine in the school parking lot. We will come back to get it afterwards." Miranda said.
"Okay great. Let me tell my friend that I am leaving." Ben said as he walked with her.
"Hey John thanks for inviting me. I really appreciate it." Ben said hinting because he met Miranda.
"I'll see you at work on Monday" Ben said to John as he slid his hand in Miranda's
"Thanks for coming and we haven't been properly introduce." He said extending his hand to Miranda.
"Oh um sorry about that I am Doctor Miranda Bailey" Miranda said confidently as she shook his hand.
"I'm Doctor John Knox, it was very nice meeting you Miranda." He said as he walked away with his children.
"Alright, are you ready." Ben asked and Miranda nodded her head walking with him.
He opened up his car door so she could get in. She didn't know where he was taking her.
"Where are we eating." She asked quietly.
"Oh, I should have asked what you like to make sure you don't have allergies."
"I not allergic to anything and if you are talking about seafood. I love seafood, it's my favorite." Miranda said.
"Okay great because I was thinking about the Crab Pot." Ben said smiling.
"Wow, I've heard about it, but I have never been there. But then again I've never really have time to do much" Miranda rambled.
"I'm glad to be your first." Ben said wiggling his eyebrows.
"You know what" Miranda said laughing.
After they pulled up. Ben opened the car door for Miranda, followed by the front door to the restaurant.
The host lead them to their table as they sat down across from each other in the booth. Miranda looked at menu and she didn't know what she wanted. " Let's do the Royal crab feast." Ben said and Miranda dragged her eyes down to that on the menu.
Over one and a half a pound of Alaskan crab, Bairdi Alaskan King Crab, Alaskan Dungeness Crab, Snow Crab, Red Jacketed Potatoes, Fresh Corn, Andouille Sausage, and Shrimp.
"Okay great" Miranda said, she did love a good seafood broil.
"Sense all of that is crabs. We could do a order of fried fish and crab cakes." Ben also said as he smiled putting the menu down.
Miranda once again smiled, he was a man after her own her.
"You read my mind. " Miranda said.
When the waiter came to the table Ben ordered their food and Miranda order a glass of red wine and a glass of water as Ben did the same.
Miranda looked at the other waiter as they set the food down on the table emptying the bucket. "Ben they sat their food completely on the table with no plates. Just on the table cloth." Miranda said surprised.
"yeah they do that. It's paper table cloths that's brand new. They change it when they leave."
"Ohh because I was like wow they are short on plates and stuff."
Ben laughed. "No they just do the broils and crabs like that but anything else comes on plates." Ben explained.
"So you never told me. How you ended up at the kissing booth." Ben questioned.
"Oh yeah. I made the mistake in telling my son that I would participate in his school fundraiser. I meant financially but he came home and told me that I would be the girl for the kissing booth." Miranda laughed rolling her eyes.
"Oh I see and you couldn't back out."
"I was upset and I wanted to but I never have the chance to go to programs or stuff like that for him or with him so I didn't want him to feel like I'm too busy to do things for him. So I sucked it up and participated." Miranda explained.
She looked as the waiter brought their food out. Setting it out on the table.
"Yupe, I would have never thought that my son would sell my lips." Miranda giggled.
"You have wonderful lips. They are very plump and full. You could use them to model for a lipstick cosmetic line." Ben said seriously narrowing his eyes at them before licking his own.
"I glad I was able to experience them."
"Mee too." Miranda smiled eating the corn.
Ben's face frowned up.
"What the matter" Miranda asked.
"I'm not a big fan of corn." Ben replied.
"You could have told them to exclude it. Plus when is the last time you ever had corn. " Miranda questioned.
"When I was a kid." Ben spoke.
"Hmm you know things we don't like as children, we tend to like as adults. Try it again" Miranda said rotating the corn to the part she didn't bite. Reaching her arm across the table until it was close enough to him.
"I don't think so."
"Eat it." Miranda said sternly, her momma side coming out of her.
Ben bit into it and chewed it before swallowing.
"Wow it really isn't that bad. You put some more garlic butter sauce on it and it would be really good."
Miranda with drew her hand and bite into the corn off the side he just ate. Little things like that was turning him on.
"So, Ben I never asked if you were single. Which seems like a stupid question because we are out together now but then again you never said it was a date." Miranda asked sorta rambling.
"yeah I'm single and I didn't want to say date until it went good. So yeah, I want you to count this as date one." Ben said smiling before eating his crab legs.
"Plus I already figured you were single because if you were my wife looking how you look, there is no way in hell you would be standing at a kissing booth."
Miranda laughed loudly. "Oh is that right? " She said
"Why are you single any way Miranda if you don't mind me asking."
"Well uh, Im just busy. I wasn't really looking to date. I was happily married for 10 years. Married for 12. We got separated our 11th year.
Divorced was final the end of the year after that. I wasn't really looking. I wanted some time as a single woman for once."
"So if I'm doing the math correct you got married when you were 18?"
"Yupe and my son is 10 I had him back in 06. So you know how old I am." Miranda questioned trying to see if he could put all the math together.
"You are 36 or 37." Ben said doing the math in his head.
"36 about to turn 37 next month." Miranda said smiling.
"Not to be intrusive but you got married at 18. You look like you were a good girl, so I'm assuming you lost your virginity to your husband?"
"Yes, to this day he is the only man I've ever been with." Miranda said blushing.
Ben wanted to change that.
"So 20 years of being with the same guy, never experiencing no one else. Wow." Ben said nodding his head.
Ben looked at Miranda in a new light. He had a challenge in the back of his mind to sex her. He wanted it to be the best experience she ever had but he also didn't want just sex he wanted more with her.
He wanted to date her and he didn't know if she was ready to be in another relationship. Although it's been well pass the time of starting over.
"What are you thinking about." Miranda asked.
"I'm thinking about you. I want to date you and want you to give us a shot. I don't know if you are ready for a serious relationship like I am." Ben said and Miranda smiled.
"Wow, you're ready after the first date?" Miranda questioned.
Ben could see that she was nervous so he dialed it back some.
"I'll go as slow as you want me to." Ben said
Miranda raised her eyebrow.
"We are grown Miranda and I believe that none of us are looking for something trashy." Ben said
"Right I'm not, so we are going to date properly and no talk of sex until about date 8 or 12." Miranda said.
Ben wanted to groan, she was a temptation all by herself but he agreed.
"Okay great. I'm glad we got that square away." Ben said.
After they finished their meal. Ben paid for it and Miranda pulled out her money for the tip. " I got it." Ben said but Miranda was persistent.
He let her and then grabbed her hand to pull her up. They walked out to the car and they laughed and talked.
Ben enjoyed her company so much.
"Come home with me." Miranda blurted out fast.
"Hmm" Ben said
"I mean, we never got dessert. I have turtle pie and chocolate cream pie and coffee." Miranda suggested nervously.
"Yes I would love too." Ben said smirking.
"Okay Mr. Warren, let's go. " Miranda said walking around to the passenger side of the car.
Miranda directed him to her apartment. She opened up the door and let him inside. "This is my humble abode." Miranda said bending down to take her boots off.
She then washed her hands before taking both pies out of the fridge.
"Turtle or chocolate." Miranda asked
"Turtle." Ben responded as she sat it out and put the other one back.
"I'll make us some coffee." Miranda announced.
Miranda finished making the coffee and cutting them a slice of pie. She handed Ben his piece of pie. Sitting the coffee mugs on the coaster.
Miranda let out her loud obnoxious laughed "You did what."
"I was threatened with detention in 7th grade because I corrected my English teacher's spelling. Multiple times. In retrospect, I probably should have just erased the mistakes from the board and rewritten, instead of using proofreading marks. " Ben chuckled.
"So you were a young smart ass." Miranda giggled.
"Yep."
"I was shy, and I still had my training wheels on my bike at the age 11." Miranda told him chuckling.
"Now, Miranda 11 years old, stop playing." Ben said taking advantage of his turn to laugh loudly.
"Yes, 11 my mother was over protective."
"I can see you now, with glasses and high-water pants, riding a pink and purple bike with training wheels." Ben said picturing it in his mind as he continued laughing causing Miranda to laugh.
"Ben you are not a funny man." Miranda laughed hitting him on the chest.
Ben caught her hand and wrapped his hand around her. "You are beautiful." Ben said looking into her eyes, making her breath hitch.
Heat rose from Miranda's stomach to her chest. Ben's lips were getting closer and her heart decided to skip a beat, the smell of him hypnotic beyond reason. She parted her lips and felt him washing over like a wave of warmth, curling her toes, unfurling all her senses as the taste of him nearly silenced all thoughts.
Her whole body tingled, the feel of his frame leaning on hers as his arms wrapped around her felt nearly forbidden. He pulled her in, claiming her mouth again, hungry and intense, until her knees gave in. By the time Miranda became aware of her fingers, they had already slipped under his shirt, his skin smooth and radiating heat.
As if time had stopped right there, as they sat propped against each other glued to one another. As if nothing else existed. Miranda looked up at Ben through her eye lashes. Her mouth parted. Licking her lips. Neither of them spoke. "Ben." Miranda said barely audible as her hands stayed flat up under his shirt.
"Are you thinking, what I'm thinking." Ben asked and Miranda nodded, they were on the same page.
"Forget all about date 8 or 12." Miranda moaned already shuttering from the thought.
"Exactly." Ben said pushing her back on the couch.
