Break time! I'll try updating again today. I should have a free hour later since my tutor is sick.

"Its funny," Lucy began, fist clenching as she lied to him once more. With each one her heart cried out, wanting nothing more than to throw herself at him. "If you had told me that a year ago, I would have gladly come back to you," finally meeting his eyes, her own frosting over with ice. "But you didn't. I'm with Galen now, and what I felt for you, you killed off those feelings. If anything, I care for you as a Guild-mate and nothing more. I'm sorry Laxus, but like I said before, I no longer love you, and I intend to keep it that way."

No words were spoke after that, both ex-lovers simply staring at one another. After another minute of silence passes by, Lucy sighed. "If you won't leave than I'll leave instead." She said moving to go around him.

Laxus' arm shot our once more, gripping at her upper arm. However, neither of them turned to look at the other, staring straight ahead.

"Is this what you really want?" He questioned her after a few more seconds of silence had passed.

He was giving her one more chance to change her mind and tell him yes, she realized. Feeling her eyes water, Lucy nodded. "Yes." She finally managed to answer around the ball that had formed in her throat.

Perhaps it was the way the whole conversation opened up old wounds, or his confession, but when he let her arm go, seemingly accepting her decision, Lucy swore the pain in her chest hurt far worse than when she had broken off their arrangement.

The realization that he was letting her go, that he was giving up, tore at her heart.

She wanted nothing more than to turn around and jump into his arms, and apologize for all the mean lies she had said.

But she had to remain strong.

She had to show him that she was serious.

She wouldn't allow herself to give in and have her heart broken again.

She wouldn't allow him to turn her back into the broken mess she had been. Not after all the hard work she, her spirits, and the girls had put in to dragging herself out of that dark place she had been in.

Shaky hand reaching up, fingers turning the lock, she paused for a second. This was really it. After she walked out the door, she would be free of Laxus for good. Not like it would make a difference, she though as she recalled the way they ignored one another. Ever so slightly she turned her head, stopping when she could just barely see his broad back from the corner of her eye. Taking in his form for what felt like the last time, knowing that after this she would never have him again, she pulled the door open.

And if not for his dragon hearing, Laxus would have never heard the soft goodbye that left her lips as the clubs music filled the bathroom before once more dampening when the door closes behind her.
