***Hello, everyone! So I do actually have a trigger warning for a very, very brief scene of child abuse towards the end of the chapter. If that affects you, then just skip the little italicized part. That aside, neither of the Yuris belong to me, and neither does Otabek. Let's go!

Chapter Seven: Assistance Well-Needed

Katsudon had let the news process for a few seconds after initially hearing it. "I'm sorry, you're what?" he asked.

Yuri let his gaze fall downward. "You heard me the first time," he muttered. Well, that answered Katsudon's next question of whether not the younger man felt good about the pregnancy.

"How far along are you?" he asked instead. "The doctor said earlier today that I was five weeks along. I can't bring myself to get rid of the little parasite, but I don't know what to do. I mean, I can't skate any more! I'm too young for this!" Yuri exclaimed, his sharp temper beginning to rear its head towards the end of his spiel.

"Calm down, Yurio. I need you to take it easy. I know better than anyone that freaking out doesn't solve anything," Katsudon said. Yuri sighed, rubbing his face. "Got it," he said quietly.

"Did the doctor give you a scan for your appointment? I mean, since you probably had an ultrasound..." Katsudon trailed off. Yuri pulled an envelope out of his pocket and passed it over. "I've kept it in my pocket since I got it. The doctor said that I should start showing sooner than most people because I'm as thin as I am. I can't get fat like you," he said.

Katsudon ignored the pointed commented at his weight, instead adjusting his glasses and looking at his friend's ultrasound printout. Indeed, he could make out the beginning of a new baby.

"Well, you won't be able to skate this season, but it's alright. With your determination, you'll be back in shape before next season! Granted, you need to be careful, or you could really hurt yourself," he said.

Yuri looked at him. "Since when were you an expert on this topic?" Katsudon rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I've... done some research on starting a family with Victor after we both retire," he confessed.

Yuri took back his scan photo and looked at it, concerned. "I still can't believe I'm having Beka's baby..." he mumbled. He jumped slightly as he felt Katsudon's hand rest on his back.

"If you need more support, you have my number. And Victor will be ecstatic to help, although I'm going to have to swear him to secrecy until you decide to make this public. After all, you're pretty famous," the Japanese man said.

Yuri sighed. "But the first person who needs to know is Otabek. And from there, the can of worms only opens even more," he said. "Yep," Katsudon said. Yuri leaned back into the couch.

"I'm already stressed."

XxX

Yuri acted like his normal, coarse-mouthed self until he and Otabek went to bed that night. "Goodnight, Yuri..." But before Otabek could go to sleep, Yuri geabbed the scan photo from his nightstand drawer.

"Wait," he said, "I went to the doctor for my stomach bug. I found out that it wasn't a stomach bug at all. For the past five weeks, it's been this." Otabek turned on his lamp and looked at the scan.

And when he realized what it was, his eyes widened, and he muttered something in Kazakh. "Well?" Yuri asked.

He was pulled into a hug. "You're pregnant, Yuri! We're going to be parents!" he exclaimed. "So it took a baby to get you to speak up for once in your damn life? Okay," Yuri noted. He smiled as Otabek met him in a kiss, and they both got comfortable in the bed after the lamp was turned off.

Otabek curled an arm around Yuri, letting his other hand rub across the Russian's still-flat stomach. "I should start showing soon. I need to let the ISU know that I can't skate this season. It's like telling me I can't leave the house for the next eight or so months..." Yuri muttered.

"Well, you can be my personal cheerleader. How do you think everyone will react?" Otabek asked. "Katsudon already knows, I went to him for advice first. Victor probably squealed like a little girl. The old man and the battle axe are getting the closest thing to a grandchild they'll ever have now, so they might lighten up for a change. Grandpa will probably give me a lecture because I'm the same age that Mo..."

And right as Yuri said that, the casual attitude disappeared slowly.

"Yuri?" Otabek said, concern overtaking his expression. Yuri sat up so quickly that his morning sickness almost became nighttime sickness, his heart starting to hammer in his chest.

Otabek shook his shoulder and called his name, but Yuri couldn't hear him.

"Damn, Yuri..." Nadya said, lying on the floor of the floor of the ramshackle home. she hiccupped, clearly a bit drunk. But three-year-old Yuri, who sat playing with his favorite stuffed tiger, looked at his drunkard mother.

"Don't ever get knocked up... especially at my age... I wish that abortion worked..." Nadya said. Yuri didn't quite get what 'knocked up' meant, but it did remind him of a joke his grandpa once told him.

He sat next to his mom on the floor and gently knocked on her arm, as if he were knocking on a door. "Knock-knock, Mama," he said.

"DON'T TOUCH ME!" Nadya snapped suddenly, grabbing the empty glass beer bottle next to her and smashing it against the side of Yuri's head...

—XxX—

And just like Yuri's memory went black there, so did the world around him in that moment.

***Don't ask me why Nadya just randomly became the Computer from Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared 4. That wasn't the intention. Be sure to leave a review on the way out, and I'll see you all in the next one! Bye!
