Chapter 12: Intertwined Fates

A/N: So I said that the story will be ending soon so I'm thinking like 1 or 2 more chapters after this, and then a time skip to the future for our cute couple. That's the plan. I will continue writing stories though. I'm thinking of some more plots in the actual Tangled universe as well as a college one. I'm also thinking of an apocalyptic one, whether it's zombies or just some disaster. The college one most likely won't be based in the same universe as this Fanficiton, so it'll be its own separate piece.

Well I hope you guys enjoy this chapter!

Warning - [Smut] ahead!

I do not own Tanged… Still sad about that.

Here they were again. A hospital. It had only been a few weeks and they're back in this horrible place filled with suffering and anguish. The difference is that they weren't the ones in the bed, it was Max. Max laid still in the bed, his breathing soft and rugged. His face would scrunch up every once in a while then go back to his normal state. He seemed to be just hanging in there.

"Oh Max," Rapunzel whimpered, looking down at his pale face.

"It's okay Rapunzel," Eugene squeezed her hand, "He's strong. He'll soldier through it." Eugene tried to convince himself that everything was fine, but he just couldn't. They were the ones who dragged them into this, and now Max is paying the price for it. It just wasn't right. Eugene grimaced as he looked down on Max. "I'm so sorry," he whispered.

"Did you say something Eugene?" Rapunzel said quietly.

"Nothing dear, nothing at all," Eugene wore a weak smile.

If only I didn't prove her. If only I didn't say those things. If only I didn't lose my cool. If only I didn't meet-

"Eugene, what's wrong?" Rapunzel cupped her hands around his face, taking a good look at him. His eyes were glossed over with tears, sorrow covering his face. He looked as if he had just lost something important to him. He looked miserable.

Rapunzle threw her arms around him, pulling him into an embrace. She squeezed him tightly, trying her best to comfort him. Eugene buried his face into her shoulder, his tears dripping out onto her. Rapunzel smiled as she felt the tears drip onto her shoulder. Eugene isn't one to cry, and she knows that. She was happy that she was able to be there to support him whenever he did.

"I'm so sorry Rapunzel. I-I almost thought of something horrible. I almost wished we didn't meet," Eugene confessed, squeezing his eyes tight. He was preparing for the worst from her. To his surprise, he was met with her hand petting his hair. Her strokes were calm and sympathetic, causing Eugene to slouch.

"It's okay Eugene," she said in a soft voice, "everything is okay. I know you don't mean anything like that. I know you love me and would do anything to make me happy. This wasn't your fault, there's no need to blame yourself. They wanted to help us out of their own accord. We can still feel sad, but don't put it all on yourself."

"I-I know, but it's just hard to think like that Goldie… I was the one who suggested it to them and you," Eugene tried to argue.

Rapunzel lifted his face so they were looking eye to eye. "No Eugene, we wouldn't have agreed if we didn't want to help you. We did this because we wanted to, not because you forced us. Don't be so hard on yourself Eugene."

Eugene's face was wet, tears still in the corner of his eyes. He didn't look like the usual Eugene, and nothing like Flynn Rider. Flynn Rider would've never cried like this. His tears slowly stopped as he regained his posture. He smiled at Rapunzel.

"Thanks Rapunzel, it means a lot."

"Of course Eugene. I'll always be here to support you."

Pascal sat in the corner, witnessing the whole thing. Although he was still uncomfortable with it, he got to see the soft side of Eugene. A small smile formed as he looked at the two. They had been through a lot that day, and it was nearing midnight. They had all been in that room ever since Max got out of surgery. Max soldiered through the surgery, phasing in and out of consciousness.

"I think we should head out now," Pascal suggested, interrupting the two, "let Max get some rest. We can come back in the morning tomorrow."

The two were reluctant to leave, knowing that Max didn't leave Eugene until he woke up. Pascal had to convince them thoroughly that Max would be fine with it. Pascal and Max had grown to be good buddies, rivaling Eugene's and Max's friendship. Ever since Eugene started hanging out with Rapunzel more, Max went to hang out with Pascal. An unlikely friendship, but a strong one.

The trio said their goodbyes to Max and each other, going their own ways. Eugene and Rapunzel returned back to the apartment and plopped themselves into the bed. They were tired, almost falling asleep instantly due to the warmth of the covers and each other. They snuggled together, trying to rest their minds.

"You awake still?" Eugene whispered into her ear with a raspy voice.

"Yeah…" she responded absent-mindedly.

"Thinking of Max?"

Rapunzel shook her head. She had other things on her mind. Like Gothel and their future. Now that Gothel was gone, they were free from her. The police had arrested her and now she's in custody. Her trial would be in a couple months, and Rapunzel knew she would be found guilty. The only problem is what would happen to her? Would the police take her from Eugene and make her live with some other relatives? What other relatives did she have? There was so much Rapunzel didn't know.

"Eugene… what does the future hold for us?" Rapunzel suddenly asked.

"What do you mean Blondie?"

"I mean now that Gothel's gone, what's going to happen to us? Do you think they'll tear us apart?"

Eugene finally understood what she was thinking. She was worried that they wouldn't have a future together due to a clouded future. No one truly knew what would happen to them, but one could have a good idea. These two, on the other hand, did not have a clear future. They never really thought what would happen if Gothel really disappeared from their relationship.

"I'll make sure they won't," Eugene comforted her.

"But how will you do that Eugene?" Worry lingered in her voice. She felt him shift up, his warmth suddenly leaving her back. Confused, she looked back at Eugene, who was now sitting up next to her.

"By doing this," Eugene smiled, obviously nervous. He opened up his hands to reveal something shining. Rapunzel looked down at it, a small gasp escaping her mouth.

It was a beautiful ring. A small amethyst lay in the middle of the ring. "Eugene!" Rapunzel was filled with all kinds of emotions. Eugene cupped her hands in his, the ring touching her skin.

"I know we haven't known each other for the longest time, but I know you're the one for me. Something brought us together, whether its fate or destiny. You changed me for the better. You loved me for who I was, and didn't care about my past. You helped me through my struggles, through my pain, through everything. And I love you for that," Eugene paused, taking in deep breath, "Will you marry me, Rapunzel Braun?"

Rapunzel sat there in shock, looking at Eugene. His eyes were filled with determination and a hint of anxiety. Squeezing his hands back, she smiled, tears forming in the corner of her eyes.

"Yes Eugene Fitzherbert, yes I will."

"So run me through this one more time," Max said, staring at the couple. Pascal was seated next to Max's bed while Rapunzel and Eugene stood in front of the hospital bed.

"Well, Eugene and I," Rapunzel started, giggling and clinging onto Eugene, "are engaged!"

"Surprise!" Eugene grinned stupidly.

Max and Pascal stared at the two in shock and disbelief. Engaged? Aren't they still in highschool? Isn't that illegal? Pascal shook himself out of shock, cleared his throat, and looked at the two with the most serious face possible.

"Now, I know you guys are all lovey-dovey and a perfect couple, but don't you think it's a little early for this?" Pascal particularly looked at Rapunzel. She was young, being the tender age of sixteen. She hadn't experienced much of the world, but now she's getting married?

"Yeah, I agree with Pascal here. I know you guys are probably going to stay a couple, but there's no need to rush into it. You've only known each other for a couple months," Max chimed in.

Eugene and Rapunzel stood in silence, thinking about what the duo had just said to them. Was it really too early? They loved each other a lot and had been through a lot. The couple of months they've been together were the happiest moments of their lives. If they got married, no one could separate them. That's when Eugene remembered the reason he proposed in the first place. Well, the main reason, but not the only reason.

"I understand your guys' concern for our sudden moves in our relationship, but I only proposed to her so we could be together forever..." Eugene paused, thinking of the right words to say, "to ensure our future together? No… it was more along the lines…" Eugene just couldn't express it correctly in words. The tip of the tongue phenomenon had struck him at the worst time!

"So we won't be separated!" Rapunzel finished his thought, knowing exactly what he wanted to say.

"Yeah… that's it," Eugene smiled, hugging her from the back. "That's why I love you so much," he whispered as he gently kissed her head.

"Stop Eugene that tickles," Rapunzel giggled.

Max shook his head at the scene, while Pascal tried his best to stay calm. What the two had just said makes sense, since Rapunzel mentioned she has no other parental figure or guardian she could go to. If she marries Eugene then everything will be fine for them. There was one issue though.

"Isn't Rapunzel still a minor? Doesn't she need a legal guardian to sign the marriage certificates?" Pascal looked at the two.

"Oh yeah…" Eugene rubbed his chin. Rapunzel was still sixteen and he was eighteen. Although the age gap wasn't too large, she was still a minor. The couple was conflicted. Even laws wanted to tear them apart.

"There's a way around that," Max interrupted their silence.

"And what would that be?" Rapunzel's face lit up.

"You guys are going to have to go to court and battle for yourselves," Max said.

"Battle for ourselves?" Eugene raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, that's a little misleading," Max laughed, "I mean you guys have to win your right to marriage. Since Rapunzel is a minor with no known or traceable relatives, you may have a chance. If you can become her husband, you'll also be her guardian."

"That's kind of odd…" Pascal thought of the dynamic. Husband and guardian. Weird.

Rapunzel blushed, shying away from the conversation. Husband. What an odd word. She'd only seen it in the books back at her house, but she obviously knew what it meant. She looked at the ring on her hand, and up at Eugene. Eugene was lost in thought that he didn't notice her stare. Rapunzel smiled, looking at her future husband.

"Is that our only choice?" Eugene sighed.

"Or you could flee the country into the wilderness," Pascal added.

"That sounds kind of fun doesn't it Eugene?" Rapunzel thought about it. Living in the wilderness with just Eugene and the animals. It was true freedom, something so much different from living with Gothel.

"Yeah, very fun until we have to look for food, shelter. We won't be able to use our convenient technology too," Eugene rolled his eyes, "Soooo fun."

"No need to be such a debbie-downer," Rapunzel pouted.

"I think we should just go with the court case. How hard could it be to win?" Eugene said.

"You guys will be fine… hopefully," Pascal seemed a little worried. He didn't doubt their love for each other, but he doubted the way society looked at them, especially Eugene. Eugene used to be a playboy so that wouldn't help his case. He also had some other bad habits like skipping class, smoking, and drinking. If the court found out about this, he'd be dead out of luck.

"You should be fine," Max seemed more confident. He knew all the things Eugene had done, but they could use it in their favor. As long as they do and say everything right, they should be fine. One possibility is to use his bad behavior as a past thing, and show how Rapunzel changed him for the better. The court would probably question how Rapunzel would benefit from this marriage, and they could counter that by saying that Eugene taught her almost everything she knows about the world alongside protecting her from Gothel. He even went out of his way to confront Gothel, which shows his loyalty.

The four agreed that this would be the best course of action. Eugene didn't want to flee and live in fear of being caught. He didn't want to live in fear ever again. They had their ways to win the court's favor, now all they needed was someone to stand for them. They could get Max and Pascal, but they have their biases obviously. They planned to ask people at school and maybe even the thugs at the bar.

"I think we should ask the thugs," Eugene admitted.

"The thugs at the bar would be a perfect choice!" Rapunzel clapped her hands together.

"And why is that?" Max raised an eyebrow. Those thugs hated Eugene's guts, but only beared with him because of Rapunzel. They had a soft side for her.

"They all hate me, don't they?" Eugene stated.

"Yes, and how could that help you?" Pascal looked real confused.

"Oh…" Max realized why.

"Because they'll say how I changed because of Rapunzel. They know I have, at least I'm pretty sure they do," Eugene had a little doubt in his voice.

"They do Eugene, don't worry. They tell me about it all the time," Rapunzel said, keeping vague on purpose.

"Hey! What do you guys talk about behind my back?" Eugene frowned.

"Nothing dear," Rapunzel grinned innocently.

"Oh..." Pascal finally realized, "That makes sense!"

"Yeah I think we could ask them to do it. They'll do it if Rapunzel asks," Eugene nudged her side.

The four laughed and enjoyed each other's companies. Even if Max had just been shot yesterday, it seemed like the world was finally at peace. Max was fine now. He really did soldier through. Everyone was happy that almost everything had been resolved. It was a good day. Luckily Max was shot during the break, or else he would have missed a lot of school.

"We weren't able to express our gratitude yesterday, Max," Eugene and Rapunzel stood up from their seats. Eugene gave him a light pat on the back as Rapunzel embraced him gently.

"Thank you for saving me bud," Eugene smiled at him.

"Thank you for saving my husband," Rapunzel said a little awkwardly.

"Hey guys, it's no big deal," Max laughed lightly.

Pascal looked at him, his eyebrow raised. "You were shot Max, remember? I think it was kind of a big deal."

"Whatever," Max rolled his eyes, "I just did what they brought us to do. If something went wrong, we were the ones that had to do something," Max smiled at the two. "I'm happy you two are safe. I'm glad we were able to get through all of it as well with only me getting hurt."

"We are most definitely taking you out to eat someday," Eugene concluded.

"Yes we are," Rapunzel chimed in.

"I know we're having this kind of emotional moment guys, but I think we should let Max rest again."

"Come on Pascal, you did this last night as well," Eugene complained.

"I think he's right though," Rapunzel reluctantly agreed with Pascal, "Max needs to heal up as fast for our Friendsgiving!"

"Fine… alright, lets go guys," Eugene slouched as he walked out the door, earning a laugh from Max.

The three walked out of the hospital, hit by a cool autumn breeze. It was nearing Thanksgiving, and they had to get things ready for their little gathering at the Snuggly Duckling. They decide to do a little event for Rapunzel, as she never did anything for Thanksgiving. Gothel would always just go out for the night, leaving Rapunzel at home to do whatever she wanted. They didn't celebrate most holidays, and Gothel even tried to dodge Rapunzel's' birthdays from time to time. This would be her first big holiday she'd celebrate.

"Well, I'm going to go finish up a project," Pascal excused himself, walking out of view from the couple.

"We should probably go shopping for the gathering," Rapunzel chirped.

"Sounds like a plan. Let's stop by the market then" Eugene agreed. The two held each other's hand tightly, they walked to Eugene's car.

The drive to the wasn't too long. The market was always a fun place to go to with all the open stalls and other goodies. Usually there was a marketplace set up everyday in the central park, where the lantern showing was. They had all kinds of stalls set up. Meat vendors, farmers, bread sellers, even little food carts. They had accessories and other household items. Rapunzel smiled as they walked through the park. She smiled at everything, picking out ingredients needed for her pies and other goodies. Eugene, on the other hand, kept his eyes mainly on Rapunzel. She was easily engrossed by the things around her, so he needed to make sure she was safe.

"Eugene… do you want apple or pumpkin pie?"

"I don't mind either one of them," Eugene scratched his goatee, "but if I had to choose, I like apples more."

"Okay!" She said, picking out a couple of different color apples.

"I love your pies either way," Eugene shrugged.

The two continued on, buying all the things they needed for their Friendsgiving. Rapunzel was in charge of desserts, while Eugene brought some side dishes. Eugene decided to cook some green beans and cornbread, so he made sure he had everything he needed. All their goods were starting to become a little burdening, so they decided that was enough.

"Whew Blodie, you bought a lot," Eugene said as he whipped off the sweat on his forehead. He dropped the bags into the trunk of the car.

"I know but I just want to make sure I have everything," Rapunzel said.

"It's alright if you didn't dear. I would just go pick it up for you," Eugene shrugged, getting into the car.

"I wouldn't want to trouble you with such a task," Rapunzel smiled as she herself got into the car.

"I thank you very much, because I would not want to do it either," Eugene joked, causing Rapunzel to roll her eyes playfully. Driving back to the apartment, they trudged up the stairs and pooped themselves down on the couch.

"I still can't believe all this," Rapunzel sighted.

"Can't believe what darling?" Eugene looked to her.

"I can't believe that I'm finally free. That I'm here with you without having to worry about Gothel. There's no lingering fear or anxiety. I feel like we can take on the world," Rapunzel smiled. Her smile is just so beautiful today. Not that I wasn't beautiful any other day, but it was just… different. Eugene was fully aware of her smile, but just couldn't pin what was so different about it. She seemed so free and happy now. She doesn't look like what she used to, a scared and broken little girl. She was beaming with confidence and joy. She was so different from before, and that was good.

"That's great darling, it really is. I'm glad you're feeling better. Maybe now you won't have those night terrors," Eugene brought up.

"Maybe…"

Rapunzel was prone to having nightmares about Gothel. Whether it was Gothel stabbing Eugene, or the abuse, it was horrible. She would wake up screaming and gripping at Eugene. Eugene, being the great boyfriend he is, always comforted till she fell back to sleep. He would stay up as long as he needed to, always sleeping after she was sound asleep. Her nightmares didn't happen every night, but were quite common, happening at least once a week. Eugene recommended a therapist but Rapunzel didn't want to have anything take up her free time, so Eugene stuck with it.

"We'll just have to see," Rapunzel finished.

"Indeed we will."

The room went quiet, leaving the two in silence. The clock ticked and ticked and ticked. They stared forward, only catching quick glances at one another. Rapunzel fidgeted around, her face becoming a little red. Her cute freckles become more apparent as she grew redder and redder.

"What's up Blondie?" Eugene raised an eyebrow.

"Eugene… would you like to try that with me?"

Eugene, shocked by her boldness, was silent for a bit. He regained his thoughts as quickly as he could, not wanting to leave her hanging. "Are you sure Rapunzel?" Eugene asked seriously, placing his hand on hers. They stared into each other's eyes, and Rapunzel gave a firm nod.

Oh you have no idea how long I wanted to do this Eugene thought as he swept her off the couch. She yelped, surprised by his sudden action. Eugene carried her princess style into the bedroom, plopping her down the bed. Rapunzel stared up at Eugene. She may not have realized it, but she looked so attractive to Eugene like that. He just wanted to devour her. Eugene smirked and got onto the bed himself, pushing her down. Rapunzel was not laid out in front of him, her sundress and hair a little messy. She was just too cute.

Eugene creased her hair as their lips connected. Electricity ran through their bodies as their lips touched. Rapunzel closed her eyes, embarrassed by Eugene's stare. Eugene smiled inwardly, continuing his assault on her mouth. Thinking of something a little evil, he slipped his tongue into her mouth. Rapunzel tried to gasp, but her mouth was filled with his. Getting hot and heavy, Eugene pulled back. Rapunzel let out deep breaths, obviously flushed.

"Eugene…" Rapunzel let out a slight moan.

"Yes dear?"

"Keep going."

With that, Eugene continued his attack. He kissed her deeply for a little while, finally starting to touch her body. She was a little small in Eugene's mind, but that didn't matter. Her body was perfect to him. Caressing her sides, he moved his hands up. Rapunzel jerked her body a bit as his cold hands ran up her hips and sides, eventually reaching her upper body. He gently massaged her, earning himself some small moans. She was so cute. She felt a little uncomfortable at first, but started enjoying his touch. She never felt something like this before.

Eugene moved his hands down to her waist line, tugging at her undergarments. Rapunzel giggled as she felt it slide down her legs. Rapunzel was a little embarrassed but very happy. The love of her life was enjoying himself as she did as well. It was an amazing thing. She felt his hands move up her legs, finally resting them on her inner thighs. He gently caressed them, causing her to shake a little.

"Eugene, you're tickling me!" Rapunzel kicked lightly at him.

"Sorry honey, this is just the process," Eugene smiled at him, and she smiled back. He began to move his hand towards her precious place. Mother Gothel always told her this part was evil and should never be seen nor touched by anyone, but here she was, getting it both seen and touched.

Eugene gently rubbed her. She felt a shock run through her body, confused on whether it was pleasure or something else. She bit her lip, confused by the feeling. It felt nice but a little awkward. Eugene continued, slowly ramping up the speed.

"Are you alright?" Eugene asked.

"I'm good," She panted as more pleasure filled her body. She now realized that this felt really good. Why would Gothel want to keep her from it?

"Okay good. I'm going to try something new so don't be alarmed. Just tell me if it hurts, okay?" Eugene wanted to make sure he didn't hurt her.

"Okay," Rapunzel smiled.

Eugene slowly stuck his finger into her, feeling the warmth and dampness envelop his finger. Rapunzel yelped once again, surprised by the foreign object entering her body. It was a little uncomfortable, but he just kept it in there, so she grew a little accustomed to it. He began to move his finger slowly. In and out, in and out. Rapunzel bit her lip harder, trying to conceal her voice, but she just couldn't. Little moans escaped the corners of her mouth as Eugene attacked her.

"Don't be shy Rapunzel, your voice is so cute, let it out," Eugene smirked.

Rapunzel let out louder moans, but they were soft and cute. Eugene held himself back from going too fast, wanting their first time together to be perfect. He was known to ravage any woman he was with before, but now he was actually trying to be gentle. People change, huh?

Eugene continued his finger movements for a little longer, eventually feeling her juices seep out. It seemed just about right. It was the perfect time to move onto the next part. Eugene slipped his finger out, and embraced Rapunzel. "

"Don't be alarmed with what's going to happen next, okay?" Eugene whispered in her ear. She nodded slowly, smiling. Eugene stood up from the bed and began undressing

Eugene removed his pants and slowly began lowering his boxers. Rapunzel had seen him with his boxers on, but never naked. Sitting up she looked over to him, her eyes rounding. "Eugene, what's that?" Rapunzel said as she pointed towards him.

"Well Blondie, this is a penis," Eugene chuckled a bit.

"A penis huh…" Rapunzel looked at it, squirting her eyes. "Penis, penis, penis…"

"Please don't say that outside of here," Eugene said.

"It looks so different from the books," She inspected it a little, "It's a lot larger than I imagined."

"Well, I am known for it," Eugene winked at her. Eugene got onto the bed and started to position himself. Rapunzel sat down next to him. Eugene forgot something…

He never took off Rapunzel's clothes. He should probably do that.

Eugene quickly disrobed her, taking off her jacket and undershirt, revealing her petite body. Her breasts weren't the largest, but they were supple. She had a decent figure, but still had somewhat childish features. Not that Eugene minded how she looked. She tried to hide it from Eugene's eyes, but she couldn't cover everything. She blushed hard, obviously embarrassed.

"You're beautiful Blondie, don't worry," Eugene said as he pinned her to the bed. "Okay Blondie, this might hurt a little at first, but I promise it'll feel better soon. But if it becomes too unbearable, just tell me alright?"

Rapunzel gave a nervous nod as Eugene positioned his rod at the entrance of her holy tomb. Eugene gave a slight push and looked down at Rapunzel's face. She seemed to have cringed a little, but her face calmed down after he stopped. He slowly pushed it in, making sure to keep monitoring her. Finally going all the way in, he stopped and let it soak in.

It was warm and real tight. Tighter than anyone he'd ever been with. It was her first time after all. Rapunzel stared up at him, and nodded her head. Seemed like she was ready. Eugene slowly went in and out, causing Rapunzel to let out moans with a little groans mixed with it. It stung a bit, but she could bear it. She'd been through worse.

"Is everything alright Blondie?" Eugene said as he continued his slow thrusts.

"It's starting to feel a little good," Rapunzel admitted, "So you can keep going."

Getting the green light from her, he continued to ramp up his speed a little. Rapunzel let out more and more moans. They were quiet and adorable. He kept going and going. It was an amazing moment for the both of them. They were finally connected both emotionally and physically. It was something they've been waiting for.

"Rapunzel… I'm almost there," Eugene said in a low, quiet voice. Rapunzel, on the other hand, had no idea what he meant. She could also feel something coming though. It was like her muscles were tightening, and the pleasure was rushing in her. Eugene suddenly jerked her up and embraced her, causing him to go deeper into her.

"Eugene!"

"Rapunzel!"

The two moaned each others name in unison as a flower of pleasure blossomed within the two. It was beautiful. The two were now connected fully, nothing could separate them now.

Rapunzel felt something warm enter her. She knew how babies were made but was still confused about the process. She didn't know every little detail, just that they had to have sex to make babies.

The room was filled with their pants as they plopped down into the bed, still connected. "That was amazing Eugene."

"It really was, Rapunzel."

"Thank you Eugene," Rapunzel giggled as he hugged her close.

"No problem Blondie, no problem."

The two laid there in silence. The world was good now. They loved each other and they were happy. That's all that mattered. They embraced one another as they peacefully drifted off to sleep.

End of Chapter 12

A/N: Well, that was my first time writing smut in a long time. I hope it turned out okay. I tried to keep it not as vulgar so hopefully that was alright. Sorry for the wait as well! Anyways, this story is coming to its end soon. I have a couple of ideas for the new ones I want to write, but I want to hear your opinions on my new ideas.

Here's some I was thinking of (all for Tangled by the way):

Some sort of Apocalypse A/U

A college modern A/U

Eugene and Rapunzel have to flee the King because he won't let them be together

Rapunzel is just a normal girl who had a run in with Flynn Rider

Those are just a couple of the big ideas I have. I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter.

See ya'll next time,

Ciao.
