Chapter 7
Bucky the gentleman

First thank you to my Assgardianprincess for helping me out with this chapter. Even if you are really annoying and demand spoilers.

Warning Bad language

Bucky ignored the fact he was exhausted as he drove for hours all the way up to the Belize border. He'd known the small airport was no use now it was too close to where Hydra had found them. Maybe they would have better luck in Belize, at least he hoped they would. He felt Lucky s arms go loose around his waist a could of times as she's drifted off to sleep using his back as a pillow. He used his human hand to hold her hands that where clasped around his waist steadying her so she didn't slide of the bike. It baffled him someone could fall asleep on a motorbike riding at 90 but then again there was nothing normal about this woman at all.

Every time he thought he had her figured out she threw something new at him. As he drove he couldn't stop thinking about her sat in the dirt crying, he had actually hurt her with words, they have had physical fights but name calling is what made her cry. He frowned as he drove through the night thinking about her, her past, Tom Decker and HYDRA … none of it made sense.

The sky was now a pale shade of pink as the sun began to rise, he'd passed the border with no issues. He managed to fake a story about her losing her passport and paid a fine, easier than he had expected he hadn't even needed to wake her.

He drove for about another hour until they reached a town, it was larger than the last one maybe this one they could actually blend in to until he'd thought of a quicker way back to America. A hotel caught his eye and he slowed his bike causing Lucky to jolt up from leaning on his back. Her eyes widened as she felt his warm hand on hers holding her hands firmly against him so she didn't slip off, she suddenly felt flushed and was thankful he couldn't see her face. The bike came to a stop and Lucky quickly pulled her hands off him and hastily jumped off the bike.

This placed looked a lot different from where they had been the night before, she quickly darted her eyes around until she saw a sign giving away where they where. "Belize?" She asked pulling off her helmet and looking around. The town was small but there was something about it that seemed familiar almost.

Bucky jumped of the bike and kicked the stand to hold it up. "Yeah. You ever been here?" He asked as he pulled his helmet off exposing his messy unwashed hair.

"Maybe" She mumbled as her eyes scanned around the area.

He sensed a weird tension, this was the first time they had spoken since their fight the night before, he gestured toward the hotel. "We can stay here c'mon" He called as he walked over to the door, holding it open to Lucky to walk inside. It was nice, a lot nicer than the last place they had stayed in. He walked over to the front desk, Lucky hovering behind him, she looked a mess, her hair was messy and knotted, her clothes full of dust, she clung on to the leather jacket Bucky had given her and wrapped it around herself shielding the state of her clothes. "Hello, do you have any rooms available?" Bucky asked with a polite smile on his face.

The woman nodded and smiled sweetly at the sweating man. "Yes sir, for two people, under what name?" She asked in a soft voice.

Bucky cleared his throat "James Barnes" He said confidently, Lucky raised her eyebrow when he spoke, she had never heard him use that name before, she almost forgot that was actually his name, it sounded so wrong.

She smiled and tapped the name into her computer. "Mr and Mrs Barnes. Okay do you have a card?" She asked looking back up at Bucky. Lucky noticed the woman fluttering her eyelashes at Bucky and smiling, she rolled her eyes.

"I'll pay cash" He told her.

She smiled and nodded at him "Sure okay" She said. She reached into a basket in front of her and pulled out two cards, she scanned them against a machine and passed them to Bucky, making sure her fingers brushed against his. "Here is your key it's room 32 on the third floor" she told him with a big smile.

"Thank you Ma'am" Bucky said smiling back at the woman. Lucky groaned and rolled her eyes, if only that woman knew what a pain in the ass he was she wouldn't be smiling so sweetly she thought to herself.

Bucky groaned in disgust when he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. "I need a shower" He muttered. His white shirt was now covered in dust from the ride and his pants didn't look much better. His hair was stuck together with sweat and he could start to smell himself. He walked over to the large bathroom and pushed the door open, he suddenly stopped and turned to Lucky who was perched on a chair near the door.

"Don't tie me up again" She said quickly, her arms still hadn't recovered from the last time he did that. "I'm not going to run" she added.

Bucky frowned. "I don't believe you" He told her honestly. "You are a danger to others and yourself at the moment I am not going to let you out of my sight until I know you can be trusted" He told her.

She flapped her arms in frustration. "I'll come stand in there while you shower if it makes you happy, just don't tie me up again" She argued.

Bucky's eyes shot open wide, like he was terrified. "You're not coming in" he stressed.

She sighed and her arms flailed at her side, she had no fight left in her. "Bucky please I don't want you to tie me up again look at my arms" She pulled the jacket off he had given her and rested it on her knee. She held out her arms to him, he stepped closer and saw the purple wrings around her wrist from where he had tied her up, a pang of guilt hit him in his chest, he didn't realise he'd actually hurt her.

He let out a deep breath through his nose. "Fine you can stay out here. Just know that if you do decide to run I will find you and I will not go easy on you this time" He tried to sound threatening but he was tired of fighting too.

"Thanks for the trust" She muttered in a sarcastic voice as she folded her arms and sat back in the chair.

He rolled his eyes at the impossible woman. "I'll be five minutes" He grunted before he disappeared into the bathroom.

The shower was the best shower in the history of showers and there was no changing his mind. Bucky washed away the grime and dirt from his skin and it felt like bliss. He stood in the shower and let the cold water hit his face as he looked up, washing away all traces of dust. The drive had taken it's toll on him too, he was tired and ached a little bit. He began to wonder how she felt, after all she didn't have the serum any more.

He began to think maybe he should of offered her the first shower, but to be fair she had been a nightmare ever since he found her so he told himself he deserved it more.

As he washed himself he couldn't get her out of his head, he was wondering if she was still in the bedroom... or had she ran … no she wouldn't do that, she knew she was safer here. His mind was working over time, nothing else mattered now. His one and only thought process was that woman and it was driving him insane. He cursed to himself quietly for not being able to get her out of his head.

He hated himself even more the second he thought about her the day before when he found her in her bikini, her slim figure, wavy hair salty from the sea, her large br... "You have to be kidding me" He muttered to himself looking down as he water dripped from his face.

Lucky sat sulking for all of five minutes and began to explore the room. It was nice, big king sized bed, flat screen TV on the wall and a desk with a little notepad and pen on it. She walked around the room looking at the different pictures on the wall, all so colourful and bright, the opposite of how she felt. She heard the water running and tried to not picture him in the shower, she hated him, well hates a strong word. She was conflicted, truth be told she didn't know what she wanted. She knew one thing though, that there is something about that man that drives her mad and scares her. But there where some things she found endearing about him, maybe it was his blunt and sometimes cocky attitude, maybe it was that metal arm, his smile she saw rarely or maybe it was the fact he was so powerful. She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the water shut off, seconds later the door clicked open.

"Good, your still here. Your turn" Bucky said. She looked over at him, he had a white towel wrapped around his wet body. His body was carved to perfection, drips of water ran between his abs and down to the towel. Lucky stared at his body for a few seconds before dragging her eyes back up to meet his. His eyes seemed brighter, his hair was messy and wet from being rubbed with a towel and his face was covered in thick stubble. "Shower?" He asked as she stood quietly looking at him.

She began to feel her cheeks burning "Yeah okay" She blurted out quickly almost like she had forgotten how to speak. She scurried past him and into the bathroom closing the door behind her.

After her shower she wrapped herself in a towel and stood awkwardly in the bathroom realising she had nothing to wear. "Fuck" She whispered to herself. She exhaled deeply through her nose and reached for the door handle, she opened the door a tiny bit only to get his attention. "Bucky, I … I have no clothes" She stammered awkwardly. There was no reply but she heard him unzip his bag. Moments later his hand appeared through the door holding a single white T-shirt. She took it and the hand disappeared. "Are you serious?" She asked. No underwear … great.

"Either that or stay in your towel" She heard him call. She closed the door and rolled her eyes, once she was dry she pulled his shirt over her, it smelt like old spice which was rather welcoming. She pulled it down, luckily he was much taller so the Shirt ended mid thigh, as long as she was careful how she sat it shouldn't be a problem she thought to herself. Once she had finished messing with her hair and fixing the shirt, triple checking it covered everything she finally exited the bathroom and walked back into the shared bedroom. Bucky was sat on the end of the bed now fully dressed, his hair still damp from the shower. "I'll go buy you some new clothes soon, first I want you to sit" He patted the bed. She cocked her head and slowly walked over making sure when she sat she placed one leg over the other and tugged at the hem of the borrowed shirt.

"Why?" She asked in a small voice.

Bucky shifted on the edge of the bed and turned his body slightly towards hers. He noticed she was sat on the corner as far from him as possible, he could sense her vulnerability and fear. He offered an unconvincing smile that didn't make her feel better. "I'm helping you" He told her. She nodded and crossed her arms over her body. "What's your name?" He began.

She frowned "Lucky".

"Your real name" He pressed.

She shrugged and looked down at the floor. "I don't remember all I remember is the name I was given for the mission, that's Lucky. Other than that I was soldier" She told him looking back up at him.

"Where were you born?" He asked, she just shrugged. "Mom and dad?" She shrugged again. "Brother and sister?" He added in a hopeful voice.

She sighed loudly in frustration and flapped her arms smacking her sides "I don't know okay" She ranted.

"Try harder" He ordered. She just pouted and crossed her arms again choosing now to look at the wall ahead of her. If this was his idea of help she would rather go without. "Do you have dreams at night?" He asked.

She paused before answering "Sometimes" She said in a dazed voice, she was trying to remember.

"About?" He asked still staring at her even though she wasn't looking at him.

He noticed she gritted her teeth and her jaw hardened. "It's private" She muttered.

He lent forward and placed his head in his hands, she was frustrating, he needed her to remember not only that he knew deep down he wanted to help her. "Listen doll I can not help you if you won't let me" He told her finally looking back up from his hands.

She looked at him turning her body slightly, carefully keeping one leg over the top of the other to avoid any exposure of herself. Bucky swallowed and tried to ignore the fact he knew she was completely naked underneath his shirt. "You only want to help me so I'll remember more about Hydra you don't care about me" She spat pulling Bucky away from his thought of her body.

He frowned "I did care about you so don't start saying shit you know nothing about" He didn't expect his voice to sound as offended as it did.

She scoffed at his response. "Name one time" She snapped.

He scoffed at her and smiled shaking his head. "When you followed me that night on my run, I told you that you shouldn't be out at night, it's not safe. When you came to my apartment crying and told me someone wanted to hurt you, I'd already thought of at least five different places I could of hid the body once I took care of it. So don't tell me I don't care, you're the one that stabbed me in the back" His rant left her speechless. He didn't like feeling vulnerable and he didn't like sharing, he didn't like what she brought out in him, it wasn't safe. He shook his head and stood up walking over to the opposite side of the room. He was trying to calm himself down.

She quietly watched him pace around. His jaw set in stone, she knew this look on him, he was mad but she didn't understand why. "Why did you care so much?" she asked softly.

"Because you where innocent" He yelled back at her, she jumped. "Just a normal woman trying to live her life, no guns, no violence and no secret organizations. You seemed sweet, and to think I felt so bad for breaking into your apartment that night" He crossed his arms and shook his head laughing to himself, thinking about how he beat himself up so bad about it when she was lying the whole time. "I'll give it to you, you're a good actress you really seemed scared" He added looking over at her.

She twisted her mouth up "I was terrified of you" She snapped back. They both glared at each other for a few seconds before Bucky broke the eye contact and went back to facing away from her. "I heard your horror story's, are they really that bad?" She asked.

"Worse" he mumbled as he stared at the wall.

"And now what? You reformed or something? … do a couple of good missions and it wipes the slate clean" She asked with a hint of attitude still in her voice.

Bucky closed his eyes, he knew he would never forgive himself completely and he didn't appreciate her asking. "The slate will never be clean but it helps me sleep at night, that's why I want to help you as annoying as you are" He mumbled. He cleared his throat and turned around "Stop deflecting now, your dreams" He pressed.

She exhaled deeply and closed her eyes in an attempt to concentrate. "It's in bits and pieces.. doesn't make sense" She began in an attempt to get out of talking about it, her dreams scared her because they never made sense, like reliving a fiction that never happened.

He crossed his arms and lent back against the wall. "Try me" He said.

She pressed her mouth together in a firm line and closed her eyes again trying to remember the details of her reoccurring dream. "It's a desert, I don't know where. I have a big bag, something on my head … I don't know I have a big gun" She rambled keeping her eyes closed, she had Bucky's undivided attention. "There are explosions and screaming, that's pretty much all it ever is" She said with a sigh opening her eyes again.

He stared at her with furrowed brows "What about Hydras facility what does it look like?" He asked knowing he was probably pushing his luck with the amount of questions he was asking.

She simply shrugged. "Outside the facility I don't know, I was asleep when they moved me" She said casually.

He frowned "Asleep" he repeated not sounding convinced, she looked up at his puzzled expression.

"Or.. drugged?" She paused for a second. It never occurred to her that while she was there they could of been drugging her, she'd never thought of HYDRA in a negative way until Bucky came along. "It's white, clean, not a lot of people... only me actually... in a room on my own. Tom comes to see me, everyday to check I'm okay and I am strong. There are machines sometimes to monitor me" The more she spoke the more memories flooded into her head, she frowned as she spoke it felt like she herself was hearing this for the first time. Bucky noticed the distress in her voice and knew she was remembering more. She paused briefly and stood up from the bed running her hand through her hair. "Sometimes other men come in and I … " She trailed off as she visualised the memories. "I kill them" She breathed.

Bucky watched her as she walked slowly around the room, she was distressed but trying her best not to show it, he needed to know more. "How?" He asked, still stood leaning against the wall with his arms folded.

"I don't want to do this any more" She blurted.

He pushed off from against the wall and took a step closer to her, she stopped pacing and looked up at him, his eyes where soft. "It's okay to be scared" He told her in a soft tone as he extended his hand to touch her arm, as soon as his vibranium hand came into contact with her hot skin she grabbed it and twisted it using her body to push him away.

"Don't touch me" She blurted sounding more panicked, she didn't know why she did it, it was almost like a reflex.

Bucky turned and rotated his arm, it didn't hurt but he was taken by surprise. She knew how to fight she had skill and technique. "Where did you learn to fight Hydra?" He asked.

She shook her head franticly, she felt overwhelmed all the memories that where coming back it was terrifying. "I … don't know... I .. Who am I?" She whispered as a tear rolled down her cheek.

Bucky put his hand on her, this time she didn't attempt to attack him. "We will find out" He promised.

She took a deep breath . "It's easy for you to say, you're out... you remember" She babbled.

"I didn't always... Steve pulled me out" He told her remembering how his best friend helped him when he needed him the most, without Steve, Bucky knew he would probably be the Winter Soldier still, or dead.

She gulped starting to feel agitated again. "Steve was your best friend, you're nothing to me how could you help?" She snapped pushing his arm off her, she glared at him her eyes where glassy and she was on the verge or crying.

Bucky's jaw was set firmly "I'm going to get you some clothes and food" He said as he turned and left the room quickly leaving her alone. She stood alone in the room and tears began to fell from her eyes, she didn't know why she felt this overwhelmed, its like Bucky had forced a door open in her brain and everything was trying to pile though at once. She knew it wasn't his fault, but she also couldn't help but feel if he would of left her in Mexico for HYDRA to find she wouldn't be feeling like this now.

Bucky was surprisingly hurt by her comment, but he made sure to scold himself for feeling such a thing. He'd only known her for a few weeks, of course he meant nothing. It was different for him, he had spent so much time locked away from other people every person he met, even if it was only a couple of times he began to feel protective for. Unfortunately for him not everyone felt the same way.

He'd been to a near by store and got her a few simple things, a couple of dresses and skirts, some underwear and sun-cream, he noticed from all the riding on the bike her legs where starting to turn pink. His mood fluctuated from sadness to anger to full blown anxiety from the whole situation. He paced down the side walk going over everything she had said to him in the hotel room, trying to block out the last hurtful comment and focus on the important stuff. He stopped dead in his tracks like he'd just got an idea, his eyes darted around he needed to find a phone.

After about a five minute walk he noticed a post office, he walked in and smiled when he saw the payphone attached to the wall inside, he quickly dialled the only number he'd bothered to remember.

"It's me" Bucky spoke as soon as he heard Sam answer.

"What's the update?" Sam asked.

"How quick can you get to Belize?" Bucky asked. He'd had a thought, he didn't know if he was right but he knew if he was Sam could help.

When Bucky got back to the room Lucky was sat in the middle of the bed with her legs crossed and a small blanket wrapped around her. She didn't look up at him but he could tell from her red eyes and puffy cheeks she had been crying.

He placed a bag at the end of the bed and took a step back "I had to guess on size I hope it's okay" He said quietly.

She reached forward and took the bag not bothering to look inside, she jumped off the bed and walked to the bathroom to change. "It's fine... thank you" she mumbled before closing the door, her tone was different, she sounded exhausted.

While she was changing Bucky set out some food also bought when out, nothing special just tacos and soda he thought she'd appreciate it after a long travel. She came out of the bathroom dressed in a light pink cotton sun dress, she tugged on the hem awkwardly as she walked back over to the bed, the food smelt delicious, her stomach agreed. She perched on the edge of the bed and grabbed a taco shoving it in her mouth unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it smelt.

Bucky smiled as she pulled a face but carried on eating. He grabbed a bottle of coke and handed it to her, she looked down at it and shook her head. "I don't like that" She said as she furrowed her brow, she couldn't remember when she'd last had it but she knew she didn't like it.

Bucky cocked his head. "How do you know?" He asked.

She shrugged "I just know... I don't like it" She sounded surprised.

Bucky took the bottle back and offered her his instead, sparkling water. She took it and forced a small smile. "Did you remember anything while I was gone?" Bucky asked in an attempt to make small talk as they ate.

"No" she mumbled taking another bite of her food pulling a face as she chewed it.

"Did you try?" He asked.

She sighed and looked up at him. "Could you just leave my brain alone for 5 minutes please" She asked in a stressed tone.

"You're scared i kno-" He was cut off before he could finish.

"No scared... pissed off" She snapped, his eyes widened in surprise. "You have dragged me out of my nice hotel and took me on the run with you... against my will may I add. You treat me like shit and tie me up at any given opportunity and this" She stressed gesturing down to the half eaten taco that sat in a tray on her lap. "This isn't food it's disgusting" She finished. Bucky sat with wide eyes looking like a child being told of by its mother. "You pick my brain apart and don't offer any information about yourself. You say I can't be trusted but what makes you think I trust you, I don't know you... I only know the Winter soldier I don't even know Bucky" She continued.

She waited for him to respond. "High maintenance" he said simply with a smile before taking a bite out of his own food.

Her lips twisted in rage "You little-" She jumped up sending her food to the floor and jumped on him in an attempt to get a hit on his face.

Bucky laughed lightly and grabbed her by her arms "Come on I was joking" he said with a smile finding her reaction humours.

She twisted and tried to break free of his grip so she could hit him. "I hate you" she spat and she finally gave in and snatched her arms free from his grip.

Bucky sat smiling at her which only made her more annoyed. "Are you done?" he asked raising his eyebrows at her. She snarled and turned around storming into the bathroom and slamming the door shut behind her. Bucky lead back on the bed and laughed quietly. "Come out" He shouted in a teasing tone.

"No go fuck yourself" He heard a muffled shout from the other room. "You have no idea how to treat woman" She added.

He looked surprised and sat back up on the bed, still with a faint smile on his lips. "Now that's just not true and to be fair back in my day woman didn't talk like that" He shouted back. He didn't mind the way she spoke, at first it shocked him as back in his day it could of been classed as unladylike like to say such words, he knew the world had changed and he didn't mind this aspect of it.

"Fuck off" She responded making him smile again.

He sat on the bed smiling to himself for a minute thinking about what she had said about not knowing him. It was true and he could not argue with that, no one knew him, not any more at least. He understood her frustration and wanted to make her trust him. He was unsure of weather he should tell her story's of his old life or if she would even be interested but he thought it was worth a shot to attempt to build trust between him and the volatile little woman.

He stood up and walked over to the bathroom door. "Also back in my day I was known for treating woman... very well actually" He told her with a small smile on his face as he remembered the 'good old days' where woman used to drop at his feet. Gone where those days, now they usually ran in the opposite direction. He tried to ignore that and instead chose to remember the happier memories.

"I was always a lady's man, I used to drive Steve nuts with it. I would always be setting us up on double dates and what not" He began, he lent against the wall next to the door so he wouldn't have to raise his voice and she could hear the story. "When I enlisted I couldn't wait to get my uniform, do my hair real nice and go find a nice dame to take out. Girls used to love guys in the army, it was great" He laughed at the end of his sentence. There was no reply from Lucky but she was listening, sat cross legged behind the door waiting for him to continue. He sounded different she noticed, a tiny smile crept onto her face at the fact he was telling her this.

"One night when I was out I found these two sweethearts a blonde and a brunette. I can't remember their names but they where real pretty, all dressed up and nowhere to go. So I went and found Steve, the little punk had gotten himself into another fight I ended up finishing for him. I told him to clean up and get ready for our double date, he was so pissed" He didn't realise the smile on his face as he remembered Steve stood in the alley looking up at Bucky annoyed that he had jumped in and finished the fight for him.

"I had everything planned out to perfection, we where going to a science show and then I was gonna take her for dinner at this nice new Italian place, It had just opened and I knew a guy" He said proudly remembering the date. He stopped talking when he heard the door click and open a little. He turned to look at Lucky and noticed her sat on the floor with her legs crossed looking up at him.

She was smirking "You took her to a science show?" She asked in disbelief.

Bucky crouched down until he was sat on the floor facing her, only he didn't cross his legs he stretched them out in front of him, he was so tall his feet almost reached Lucky. He smiled a big smile, one she had never seen before, he looked almost proud of himself. "Howard Starks expo" He said proudly.

She laughed and shook her head. "Nerd" she teased, he smiled at her and shook his head. Most woman back in the day would of swooned at the idea of a soldier taking them to a Howard stark expo, not this one. "keep going" she ordered softly.

He nodded and complied "After the expo Steve snook off, tried enlisting again like the little punk he was. He ditched me and the ladies, I tried to find him but I guess he didn't want to be found. His date was pretty upset she'd been ditched. I didn't want the girl to feel bad... never could stand to see a dame cry... so I took them both for dinner, treat them both like princess's for the night, cost me an arm and a leg but they where happy" He told. Lucky smirked again.

"Like there was nothing in it for you?" she said wiggling her eyebrows suggestively causing Bucky to laugh.

"I took them for dinner, and then for a nice walk through the park. Then we got ice cream and talked all night. At about midnight I dropped them both back of at home and left the next day for the war" He finished. She cocked her head to the side and raised her brows.

"You just dropped them off at home?" She asked almost not believing him. He was handsome she couldn't deny that, rugged but handsome.

He smiled and winked. "Like a gentleman" He told her with a grin. "I swear" he added placing his metal hand over his heart, they both laughed.

There was a small pause, Lucky stopped laughing and looked to the ground before looking back up at him, she looked into his eyes, he noticed something had changed in hers. "Can I trust you?" she whispered. For a second he was shocked, but he masked it by smiling.

"Are you going to stop attacking me with sharp objects?" He asked with sarcasm in his voice earning a glare from her. "Yes you can trust me" He told her genuinely, she smiled and looked down at the hem of her dress she had been messing with the whole time they where talking.

"Can we take a break trying to get into my head for a while?" she asked in a small voice.

Bucky smiled "Sure doll, anything else?" he hadn't meant to call her that, it just slipped out.. something he used to call woman 'back in the day', she didn't mind though, she liked it when his New York accent slipped out, it made him more human.

She nodded. "I want to go for a walk" she told him. He gave her a look, he wasn't thrilled with the idea of her being out in the open with HYDRA looking for them. "I have either been on your death machine or cooped up. I need fresh air" She added.

He rolled his eyes knowing it was useless arguing with her, he didn't want to cause a fight after they had made progress. "Alright, we will go" He told her. She smiled and jumped up instantly running to put her shoes on.

The sun was just going down. It had been a long day, Lucky was thankful for the small nap she got on the back of the bike, she wondered how Bucky was still so awake and alert but she just put it down to the super serum.

They strolled down the street of the town they where in, it was quite and pretty, the shops where colourful and everyone they saw nodded and smiled. "It's nice to be outside" Lucky exhaled as they strolled down the path.

Bucky looked over at her, she was smiling as the little wind blew her hair off her face. "Did they let you outside much at Hydra?" He asked. He noticed her smile drop and mentally kicked himself for bringing it up. "Sorry" he mumbled. She stopped dead in her tracks and turned to him and grinned, he frowned at her wondering why.

"Ice cream" She said in an excited voice.

His eyes followed her gaze to a little ice cream store on the corner, he turned back and flashed a bemused smile. "Really?" he asked.

She nodded. "I think you owe me" She joked.

He rolled his eyes. "Fine" He said still smiling.

They went and ordered their ice cream. Lucky took only 5 seconds to decide what she wanted much to Bucky amusement. Once they got the ice cream they walked outside and noticed a park, Lucky made a run for it and sat down on a patch of grass with her ice cream her pink dress pooled around her, Bucky shook his head and laughed before going to join her sitting down next to her on the grass.

They sat in silence for a few minutes watching the world go by, the sun was a beautiful shade of orange as the sun set over the buildings. "When was the last time you had ice cream?" Lucky asked breaking the silence.

Bucky thought for a second and smiled. "On that date" he told her as he took a big mouthful of ice cream, she cringed.

"You'll get brain freeze" She laughed.

He smirked and shook his head before taking another huge bite. "Super soldiers don't get brain freeze" He told her. Just as he said that it happened, the pain behind the eyes and the urge to cough, he tried hiding it but she noticed and laughed.

Truth be told she couldn't deny this was the first time she'd had fun in a long time. Even when she was living at the apartment alone it wasn't fun, she had a sense of freedom but no one to share it with. "I can't remember the last time I had ice cream but this... Is the best flavour" She said gesturing down to her bright pink and blue ice cream on the cone.

He shook his head and smiled slightly. "You're wrong" he told her matter of factly.

She giggled and pointed to his. "That" she began. "Is an old man flavour" she teased.

He stared at her as he took another bite of his rum and raisin ice cream. "I am an old man" He told her with a mouth full.

She laughed and offered hers out. "Try it" She told him. He immediately frowned and shook his head.

"It looks toxic it's bright blue" He said frowning down at the desert. Suddenly Lucky pressed her ice cream against his face over his mouth. She pulled it away and laughed as she carried on eating. "Wow" He said simply as he licked the pink and blue from around his mouth.

She smiled flashing her teeth. "Nice isn't it" She teased.

Bucky wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and stared at her for a second. She looked so free, so different.. it was beautiful he thought. "It's... different, but I like it" He said smiling back, he wasn't talking about the ice cream.

The doctor dressed in a white lab coat came running into the room Tom Decker was sat in. He sat at his desk smoking a cigarette watching the footage of Lucky's training on his computer. "Sir, we lost another one. The formula just isn't working Sir we need the soldier before we inject any more subjects. It's a death sentence and it is brutal" The doctor sounded out of breath. Tom sighed and stubbed his cigarette in an ash tray on his desk before looking up at the frantic Doctor.

He glared at the man who stood in front of him. "The soldiers location is unknown" He said simply.

"And the other one?" The doctor asked referring to Lucky.

Tom sat back in his chair and pressed his hands together. "She will come back, and when she does I will kill her myself" He said with a smile.

The Doctor stood with a worried look on his face. "W-What if she remembers who she is?" He asked worried about how his boss would react to his question, Tom Decker wasn't known for his kindness or patients.

He lent forward in his chair glaring directly at the fearful doctor. "She will never be that brutal soldier again and she would never turn against me. She ran, but she won't keep running. Soon she will come back to me and then.." He trailed off and raised his eyebrows at the doctor. The doctor look down sadly, Tom rolled his eyes, he didn't have time for such petty emotions. "Oh lighten up doctor, go carry on with your work" He ordered.

The doctor looked up with a pittiful look in his eyes. "Sir we can not use any more subjects like I said, its a slow and painful death" He sounded like he was begging.

"Well alter it again and try again" Tom snapped.

"They are just children" The doctor whispered.

"Doctor" Tom snapped in a deep voice, he didn't like it when people gave him their opinions, he was in charge and he liked everyone to know it.

The Doctor jumped and nodded. He didn't want to do it but he knew if he didn't he would be the next one that got injected with the bad serum. "I will take another look at the formula" He told Tom with a fake smile.

Tom nodded and flashed a million dollar smile at the man. "Good man" he said in a cheerful voice. The Doctor turned and scampered out of the room closing the door behind him. Tom slowly turned back to his computer screen and rewound the video playing it back again. "Oh my little soldiers, where are you" He whispered to himself with a smile as he watched a video of Lucky breaking the neck of a man in the training room. 'his ruthless soldier'.
