Author Note: Hey guys! So I wrote this whole chapter and then had some computer issues before I could save it.. sorry about the delay! But I think this actually went better than the original draft so maybe a blessing in disguise? Anyway, thanks for the reviews! I do apologize for any grammar/spelling errors - I am not the greatest proofreader - I often times miss typos.

I also want to make a quick note - my timelines could be off from the comics. I only just started reading them, so I apologize in advance if things I write go against the comics.

I still don't own any Avatar characters.. I wish

1 Day Later

"You're going to do WHAT?"

"Suki, please keep your voice down," Aang said in a soft voice, "she could hear you!"

It was a warm, sunny day in Ba Sing Se. The streets were crowded with shoppers and travelers enjoying the city. Now that the Fire Nation was no longer in control of the city, Ba Sing Se was a popular spot once again for tourists.

Aang, Toph and Suki gathered in the large open room of their home. Katara was just outside, practicing her waterbending with a stream that was next to the building.

Aang had decided to take this time while Katara was outside to explain his plans to Toph and Suki. Toph remained her usual, sassy self, while Suki was nearly jumping up and down.

"Yeah Aang," Toph said with the same questioning tone as Suki. "You seriously think you guys are ready for that? It's a huge commitment."

"Well, I love her. And she loves me," Aang confidently replied, "we talk about the future all the time. I can't imagine life without her, so, why not?"

"Well Twinkle Toes, it's about time." Toph remained cool and calm, arms crossed as she leaned against the wall.

Aang's eyes grew wide. "What do you mean?"

Suki let out a snort as she sat down on the couch. Aang's confusion grew more intense at her response.

"Seriously guys, what?"

"Well for one," Toph said, "the moment I met you, I could tell you guys were in love with each other. I mean each time you got near each other, your hearts would start fluttering -"

"Not to mention ALL the blushing-"

"Well that I don't know. But seriously. I could sense it from the very start. You two had all the signs. I almost mentioned it, but when I realized you weren't actually together yet, I decided to not mention it. Let you two figure it out."

"So, we were that obvious?"

"YES," Toph and Suki said in unison.

"Okay, okay, this conversation is getting off topic. So do you guys think I can pull this off?"

Toph walked over near Suki and placed her hands on her hips. They both smiled. "Oh yeah Twinkle Toes, we've got your back."

A large grin spread over Aang's face. "Really? This is great! Thanks you guys!"

"You and Katara deserve a happy life together, Aang," Suki replied, "you two have been through so much. It's time you make the next step."

"So," Aang started, "I just don't know how to get there. I'm supposed to be here helping Earth King Kuei. Not to mention, we haven't heard from Zuko in a while. With the problems he has had there, I'm sure he'll need me soon."

"That's what we're for," Toph said confidently. "I can stay here and help the Earth King."

"And I need to go back to the Fire Nation soon anyway. The Kyoshi Warriors are still Zuko's security. I'll just let him know you're doing something important."

"Okay," Aang placed his hand on his chin as be spoke, "so I'll drop Katara off at Whale Tail Island, give her a few days to get to the South Pole and get settled, and then I'll show up and surprise her!"

"Do you have any idea what you're going to do once you arrive at the Southern Water Tribe?"

"I'm gonna have to plan that out. But I only know airbending customs. And they're... probably not going to work on Katara. I'll just talk to Sokka and their dad when I get there, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help me plan."

"Great," Toph said a little louder as the conversation went on, "so we have a half plan."

"Half plan of what?"

"Katara!"

Aang, Toph and Suki all shouted in unison. The three jumped at the sound of Katara.

"Katara, did you float here or something? I didn't hear you come."

"Well, I heard whispering, so I figured you three were talking about me. I walked as lightly as possible."

"We weren't talking about you," Toph crossed her arms as she lied to Katara, "we were talking about surprising Zuko for his birthday."

"Yeah, Zuko's birthday is coming up -" Aang interjected.

"And we thought, since things are calming down in the Fire Nation, we thought it would be good to surprise him!" Suki added in.

"Why didn't you add me into the conversation then?" Katara questioned, clearly curious.

"We-"

"Didn't-"

"Oh, jeez guys." Toph rolled her eyes. Aang and Suki were clearly not good liars. "I don't know why they're being so weird. We might do it while you're gone. We didn't want to make you feel left out since you're going home, so we figured we would keep it to ourselves."

"Um, okay," Katara wasn't sold. She decided to change to subject anyway. "Is anyone else hungry? It's late. We should eat some dinner."

The rest of the group each felt a small sigh of relief as Katara changed to subject.

"Yes, let's get some dinner!"
