Chapter 6: Hello Jacob
Bella's POV
It's been a month since the attack and all is somewhat well. Teddy and Pillow, along with Alice and Rose have been treating me like I'm close enough on being an adult. However mom, dad, and Edward keep treating me like I'm that scared 4 year old that I was when I moved in with them. Why can't they see that I'm growing up and that I'm not some fragile doll that will break if you accidently drop it?
"Bella you have a visitor." Mom called up to me. As I walked down the steps I could feel the tension in the room. When I came into the living room I saw a teenage boy that I had a sense that I knew him from somewhere.
"Hey Bella how have you been?" He asked in a kind and gentle voice.
"Do I know you?" I asked wondering where I had heard that voice before.
"It's me Jacob. I mean you're my pen pal." Jacob said with a warm smile on his face.
"Jacob? Is it really you?" I asked not sure that I can believe that it was really the wolf boy that I met all those years ago.
"The one and only." With that I ran into his arms for a hug shocking everyone including Jacob with my actions.
"Do you want to go for a walk? I think that if we stay here much longer my family will hurt you." I said with seriousness and a hint of humor.
"I'm game."
"You better take good care of her mutt." Rose said in a threatening voice.
"I will. God Blondie I would never hurt Bella." Once we were out the door I knew that my family were watching us as we headed into the woods. "So what's been new with you?"
"You first." I said not wanting to dump all my problems on him.
"Well I'm now here in Forks for good now. I have a new pack and a new pack leader. Nothing much else is going on in my life. Now what about you?"
"Well I told you about the guy that took me to that party a month ago." I looked at Jacob to see if he remembered that letter that I have sent him. When he nodded yes I continued. "Well since then me and Edward have admitted that we have strong feelings for each other and are boyfriend and girlfriend. However there is a down side to that."
"What do you mean? I mean you love him right?" Jacob asked trying to understand what the problem could be.
"Yes I love him with all of my heart but he still sees me as a fragile child. I mean he doesn't see me as an equal. I mean I know that I'm human and fragile in that sense but sometimes I think that he would rather me stay human and not change after I graduate like I plan to." I explained.
"I know that you want to be one of them but maybe he feels that you should life your life as a human and not as a vampire. Maybe he wants to protect you." Jacob said. I couldn't believe that he was taking Edward's side on this.
"You really think that, that is the case? Or are you saying that because you want me to stay human" I asked knowing the answer.
"Honestly I would like you to stay human, but I also want you to be happy. So I guess you can say that I empathize with Edward in a way but your happiness is the main thing." Jacob explained.
"Well at you don't treat me like I'm some fragile baby. You, Emmett, Alice, Rose, and Teddy… I mean Jasper. Everyone else treats me like I'm still a child. And I'm sick of it."
"Have you told them this?"
"No I'm afraid that I'll hurt their feelings or that they would get mad at me. I've only vented to you, Jasper, and Emmett."
"I'm sorry you feel that way but I do think that you would feel better if you told them how you feel. Who knows it might not be as bad as you think. I mean if you want I can be there with you when you tell them." Jacob offered.
"Thank you so much Jacob."
