Once Kagome got Kisa over to Sango's and explained the situation she headed straight for the police station. Once inside she walked right past the front desk, "Ma'am you cannot go back there." The woman at the desk called as Kagome ignored her and continued to walk towards the very back office, once she got to the door she didn't stop and knock but walked right in. As soon as she opened the door Sesshomaru looked up from his laptop and gave a smile. A man walked up behind Kagome and grabbed her shoulder, Sesshomaru put his hand up in her defense, "She is fine Akito." The man nodded and removed his hand and walked away. Sesshomaru motioned for her to sit down, she did. "I was wondering how long it would take for you to show up in my office." Kagome didn't even take a second to say hello she got right to the point. "Sesshomaru, she didn't kill that bastard and you know it!" Sesshomaru shut his laptop and pulled a file in front of him, "Forensics is looking over the evidence now. I wouldn't have had to bring her in if it wasn't for the previous complaints and the call about the dead body." Kagome looked at him confused, "What other complaints?" He flipped through the file till he got to a page; he turned the file around and pointed to it, "Read here." Kagome did as he said, what she read was not what she was expecting. There were several domestic dispute complaints, complaints about loud fights and screaming heard from neighbors, along with noises of broken objects. Then she read the paragraph that was in Sesshomaru's hand writing about how he observed the bruises on her body when she came in to talk once, he stated that because she would not come out about the abuse nothing could be done. Kagome shut the file and placed it on his desk.

"How long has this been going on?" Sesshomaru looked over at his calendar, "About 8 months. Like I said in the file, she would never come to me about the beatings so nothing could be done. I emphasized to her that I could help her in a lot of ways, she didn't take any of it." Kagome sighed, "When can she leave?" "As soon as everything is processed and we get her statement I will personally bring her back to your house." Kagome gave a small smile and nodded and got up to leave and without thought pushed up her jacket sleeves and Sesshomaru got up at the sight of the marks on her hands.

Sesshomaru walked over and grabbed Kagome's right wrist and brought it towards him so he can get a better look at her arm. Two seconds later he looks back up at her and looking into her eyes says. "Who did this?" his voice sounding more like a growl. Kagome pulled her arm back and her sleeves back down. "It's nothing to worry about." She replies, shrugging. "Kagome." He growls. "Who. Did. That." He gestures to her arms on his last word, looking at her pointedly and letting her know by his tone and body language that he fully expected an answer to his question and the truth. "And if it was Inuyasha, I swear I'll kick his-"

"It wasn't Inuyasha." Kagome sighed. "One of your officers just grabbed me a little too hard this afternoon, that's all." Sesshomaru's stern expression turned angry and back to stern. He knew exactly who had harmed Kagome and they were going to hear from him about it. "Why were you thinking that Inuyasha might have hurt me?" Kagome said, snapping Sesshomaru's attention back to her. "I saw both of you outside the coffee shop and I know he's been trying to talk to you…it's not hard to picture him forcing the issue, as much as I hate to say it. Let me know if he gets too pushy, alright. I'll see you later, with Kikyo okay?" Kagome nods and gives him a quick hug, which he returns, before she walks out of his office. As Kagome was leaving the building she saw Sesshomaru motion for a man to come to his office, the same man who'd bruised Kagome. He didn't even bother to shut the door and when Sesshomaru started yelling, everyone heard everything. Kagome shook her head as she left the building and then looked at her watch and figured since Kisa is with Sango that she would go to the grocery store. Shopping was so much easier without a child around. When she got home and made her way to the front door with her groceries, she saw someone on her front porch and gave a frustrated sign when she noticed who it was. "Inuyasha what are you doing here?" She asked as she fumbled with her house key and the groceries, Inuyasha went to help but she had already got the door open and was inside, he followed her to the kitchen and she put the groceries on the counter, and then went to get the rest. Once again he tried to help but she wouldn't let him, the only thing he could do was shut the trunk.

"How did things go at the station?" She started putting groceries away and without asking he helped, everything was where she always kept things and this made him smile. "Are you going to answer me Kagome?" She slammed the cabinet shut and turned towards him.

"Why are you so interested in what happens with her. Why are you trying to shove your way back into my life Inuyasha?" She asked, Inuyasha was shocked by the question he didn't know what to say. "I uhm…I just wanted to show you how sorry I am." Kagome laughed.

"Inuyasha you left me, you left your home. You never tried communicating, I have known you since I was three years old and after sixteen years of you being in my life you up and leave to never be heard from again. Then you come back and think nothing has changed. I am not the 19 year old girl you left four years ago, I am a mother and I have a full time job with responsibilities. I have grown up and so should you, take responsibility for the actions you took four years ago. This is not some little fight we had when we were five, one conversation isn't going to fix this. I planned a life with you, and you took that all away when you left." Inuyasha stared at the woman before him, "Kagome I know one conversation isn't going to fix this, but you won't even let me have a conversation with you! I am sorry for what I did, I regret the choice of leaving without an explanation but I want to time to explain to you." He said getting aggravated; Kagome shook her head "It's going to take a lot more than that for me to forgive you. This is a bigger situation that you think Inuyasha." Inuyasha gave a frustrated sigh, "Kagome just listen to me." There was a moment of silence, "Please leave Inuyasha." She said in a low voice turning around to get back to her groceries, he was going to say something but stopped himself it was no use she wasn't going to listen to him. As soon as she heard the front door shut Kagome let her tears fall, "What is wrong with that man!" She was now roughly throwing things around the kitchen, "Who does he think he is." After a few minutes she laughed at herself as she noticed she was talking to herself out loud. She was losing it. She stopped talking to herself and finished putting her groceries away and decided it was time to go get Kisa

Kikyo was pacing the interrogation room, she had been in here for hours and she was tired of it. She finally sat back down and decided it would be best to put her head down and rest since she didn't sleep well the night before. Her head popped up at the sound of the door opening, in walked Sesshomaru with a young blond woman holding a folder; they both sat down and were silent for a minute. Kikyo broke the silence, "Can I go home now Sesshomaru?" She asked in a pleading voice, he sighed. "I'm afraid not Kikyo, they found your fingerprints on the gun and we need to ask some more questions." Kikyo rolled her eyes and sunk back into her chair, and then the woman spoke. "Kikyo we have plenty of complaints of the arguments you and Naraku had, plenty of witnesses who have seen you two in public fighting. You have the motive to have killed your husband. Why don't you walk us through the night he died."

Kikyo stood up and began pacing again she was crying again too, she was so frustrated. "I told you I didn't kill him! That was my gun; he took it out of my nightstand drawer!" "Kikyo just tell us everything that happened." Sesshomaru said in a calm voice, she sighed. "I fell asleep on the couch waiting for him to come home for the fourth night in a row he had been late coming home. I was woken up from him slamming the front door; he was drunk I could smell the alcohol on him. I was so tired of these situations so I calmly told him I wanted a divorce, after I asked that he flipped out. He started throwing things and screaming at me about what a lousy person I was, talking about how my parents died and saying they were better off without me. That he was better off without me, I tried to calm him down and in the process I got hit a few times." She pulled up her shirt and showed them both the bruises on her stomach, then continued. "After he knocked me down from hitting me he ran to our bedroom and came back holding my gun, I immediately backed up with my hands in the air. I knew for sure he was going to shoot me, so I started to talk to him calmly. He turned the gun on himself and I begged him not to do it, it wasn't worth it. I told him I would be a better wife, things would change. He told me that I was worthless and I led him to his life ending decision and he pulled the trigger." She finished with tears in her eyes.

After a few moment of silence the woman spoke, "How did the blood get on your clothes Kikyo?" She looked up at her confused, "After he shot himself I tried to stop the bleeding or find a pulse." "Your husband was quite wealthy Kikyo; did he ever tell you that?" She shook her head, "No he never told me about his finances, we only talked about our money together. I had no idea." The woman was standing now, "So you're telling me you had no idea that Naraku was a multimillionaire and that with his death you would receive this money. That when he came home drunk you initiated a fight knowing he would get mad, and then you shot him!" Sesshomaru looked over at the woman, "Sara that is enough." She looked down at Sesshomaru and nodded and sat down, "Give me a moment with Kikyo. Leave now." Sara did as she was told and left.

Kikyo looked up at Sesshomaru with her blood shot eyes, "Please Sesshomaru I had no idea. I didn't shoot him I swear." He sighed, "I need to see ballistics, and they are still running some tests. Sit tight for a little while okay?" She nodded and he left her to sit alone again.

Kagome arrived at Sango's house; on her way inside she could hear Kisa and the boys laughing in the backyard. She smiled as she walked inside, she found Sango in the kitchen humming as she working on frosting a cake. "That looks great Sango." Kagome said, leaning against the door jam and smiling. "Hi Kagome. How did things g- "Sango looked up at Kagome after setting the knife she was using to frost the cake down. "Oh sweetie, why have you been crying? What's happened? Is Kikyo alright? I haven't told Miroku what was going on with her yet. They think she did it, don't they? Don't you worry I'll call Miroku right now and have him go straight over to the police station. We'll have this all straightened out in no time. "Sango pulled her cell phone out of her back pocket. Kagome shook her head, "It's not about Kikyo. Inuyasha was over." She sighed and plopped down at the kitchen table, "Every time he comes around there are some many things I want to say to him and then I get so frustrated. It's like he doesn't understand what he did Sango. It's like ripping a scab off an old wound over and over again." She said with a few quiet tears. "Oh, Sweetie." Sango embraces Kagome. "I hate that this hurts you so much...though it's not an easy situation for anyone." she was rubbing soothing circles on Kagome's back. "Men." she scoffed. "Always thinking they have the bigger 'plight' and us women are just too frail to handle what they do. I swear Inuyasha's thick-headedness has no equal." Kagome have a short laugh at her last comment and sighed and changed the subject. "Was Kisa good today, she has been a handful lately." She said rubbing her forehead. "An angel like always. She's out back with the boys; I'll let her know you're here." Sango gives Kags another hug, squeezed her shoulder reassuringly and walked out the back door to round up the children.

Kikyo had finally fallen asleep waiting for Sesshomaru to come back. After about 2 hours he comes back, once in the room he notices that she has fallen asleep and quietly walks over to her, lightly nudging her. Kikyo jumps up and backs up against the wall looking around franticly, Sesshomaru put up his hands calmly, "Kikyo it's just me, it's okay. No one is here that can hurt you." Kikyo sighs and takes a few deep breaths and slides down the wall and pulls her knees to her chest. "Will I ever be normal again." she cried putting her head down, now she was sobbing. Sesshomaru gave a sad look and walked over to her and crouched down in front of her, and said in a quiet voice, "Kikyo let's take you home okay?" Kikyo slowly lifted up her head and nodded, he offered her hid hand to help her up and she gladly took it.

The car ride to Kagome's house was very quiet, there was so much information for Kikyo to process. 'Where am I going to live, I can't stay in that house. I can't live with Kagome for the rest of my life.' She had been so involved in her thoughts that she didn't notice they were in Kagome's drive way, Sesshomaru had gotten out of the car and walked around to open the passenger door, Kikyo got out and hugged Sesshomaru, "Thank you." She said is a quiet voice, Sesshomaru hugged her back and sighed, "I'm sorry Kikyo."

Once Kikyo got into the house she glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was half past 10. 'Kagome must have taken a night off from work again.' She sighed and headed for the spare bedroom which was technically Souta's but since him and Kira have gotten so close and now are dating, he has been staying over there a lot more. As soon as she got into the clean room she headed straight for the bathroom and turned on the shower, all she wanted was to wash away the stress. After her shower, it was almost 12 when she finally crawled into bed and fell asleep from mental exhaustion.
