Chapter 7

"You let me die, how could you let me die! Now my sister is alone!" Inuyasha spun around looking for the source of the voice in the dark, but saw nothing. The sound of explosions was coming from a distance, then gunfire and screams. Inuyasha put his hands over his ears to block the sound but nothing could muffle to sounds. He open his eyes and was shocked, everything went silent, there in front of him stood Kyo; in his uniform, with pale as snow skin, dark circles beneath his eyes and blood on his body. "You let me die in your arms; you did nothing to save me! Why Inuyasha! WHY!"

Inuyasha bolted upright in his bed in a cold swear. His sheets were tangled around his legs, he was breathing heavily, he sighed and got out of bed glancing at the clock, it read 2:24AM he has only been asleep a little over and hour. He went to the bathroom and noticed his puffy eyes, he obviously had cried during his dream. He splashed water on his face, but as soon as he closed his eyes he saw Kyo's haunting face. He shut off the bathroom light and went to his kitchen and straight to the pantry, to the back where the vodka was. He opened it and took a big gulp and sighed as he felt the warming sensation go down his throat.

"Kyo get down here and eat your breakfast before it gets cold!" Sango called up the stairs to her son, she turn to pour herself a cup of coffee and realized it was gone, "Great!" she sighed and saw down and began eating her bagel. She watched Shiouri eat her cheerios which she has all over her high chair table. Finally Kyo came downstairs and sat at the table, when Sango saw his hair she could have screamed. A huge piece of gum was stuck just right above his left ear. "Kyo how did you get gum in your hair?!" She yelled, Kouta laughed, Kyo glared at him. "Kouta did it!" "Did not!" Kouta yelled standing up and grabbing the eggs off his plate and aimed at Kyo. "Don't you DARE!" Sango yelled grabbing his arm from across the table. Kouta looked up at her, "Drop it. NOW!" She said sternly, he opened his hand and the eggs fell back on his plate. "Kouta go to your room, Kyo get upstairs to my bathroom so I can deal with your hair." "But mom! I didn't eat!" Kouta whined, Sango picked up Shirouri and carried her into the living room and put her in her play pen. "You should have thought of that before you tried to throw it at your brother." He crossed his arms and pouted. "March." She said as she pointed to the stairs, he huffed and stomped out of the room and stomped up every stair. Sango looked down at Kyo and sighed, "Mommy are you gonna get the gum out of my hair?" "Yes" "How?" he asked, "I'm going to cut it."

"Kyo if you move one more time I am going to have to shave your head! Now hold still!" She said as he danced and sang a jibberish song. He quickly shifted to the left and Sango cut his hair too short. "Damn." She said as she shook her head, Kyo spun around, "Ooooooh mommy said a bad word." She sighed, "I know, I know, but now I have to shave your head." "No no no no nooooo!" Kyo cried jumping up and down. "Now you stop that right now! If you would have just stood still I wouldn't have to shave your head. Stand still for 5 minutes. Got it?!" She said crouched down holding his arms on either side of his body, he nodded. She turned him around and began shaving his head and sighed again as chunks of his black hair fell to the floor.

She swept up the hair as Kyo ran out of the bathroom; she shook her head as she hears her twins start rough housing. "Boys take it outside!" She called as she went to check on Shiouri, who was happily sucking on toy blocks. Sango slowly slumped onto the couch with a sighed and ran her fingers through her hair; she glanced up at the clock and gave an aggravated sighed. "It's only 11!" Shiouri giggled and smiled at her mom. "Shiouri thank you for being a girl, you may be an only child soon, what do you think?" She asked looking over at her daughter, who smiled back at her.

Sango had just put Shiouri down for a nap and looked out the window to check on the boys; they were playing catch with a baseball. She smiled at the calming sigh and continued with her usual schedule and started sorting laundry. She had almost all of her and Miroku's clothes sorted before she heard glass break and like on cue Shiouri started crying. She hurried to Shiouri's room and examined the window all was well so she grabbed Shiouri and hurried to check on the boys. Before she got to the back door she saw the broken window and the baseball on the floor.

"Great!" She thought to herself as she carried Shiouri to her play pen where she left her to go clean up the glass. "Kouta and Kyo get in here now!" She called out the backdoor, once the glass was all cleaned up. The boys came running inside; Sango gave them a stern glare, "How many times have I told you to play catch near the back of the yard? You both are in big trouble, just wait until your dad gets home." "Mom don't tell dad. Please we can fix it!" Kouta shouted, Sango gave a small laugh. "And How are you going to do that?" she asked giving a questioning look. Kouta smiled a 'know it all grin' "With glue, we can make it like a puzzle!" "Yeah mom like a puzzle!" Kyo chimed in, "Boy this cannot be fixed with glue. How about you go watch a movie with Shiouri in the living room while I figure out how to fix this window." They both nodded and ran into the living room, not even 5 minutes later she could hear the Pokémon movie playing. She shook her head and spoke to herself, "Do they ever get tired of that movie?"

The hours had gone by and it was now almost 5 and Miroku should be getting home any minute, Sango was relieved at this. She has finally been able to get the laundry done for her and Miroku, but still had the kid's laundry to do because she had to deal with a mess that Shiouri made on the floor with paint because the boys gave it to her when they wanted to do arts and crafts. She groaned at the giant green spot on the carpet in the hallway to the stairs. The boys also got paint all over the kitchen table which she will have to scrap off later. "I am in serious need of a drink right now." She said as she slumped into the chair at the kitchen table, she rubbed her throbbing head as she watched the boys chase each other in the living room. "If you two don't stop it right now you will be grounded for two weeks!" She yelled over their giggling.

A few moments later Miroku walked through the door just in time to see the boys knock over the table that had a crystal vase that Sango and Miroku got as a wedding gift from her father before he died. Miroku didn't even have a chance to say anything before the boys were running to him and before Sango snapped. "Ughhhh! That is it! Kouta and Kyo you are grounded for a month! Both of you have done nothing but be little hellians today! I have had enough!" She was now screaming, the boys ran and hid behind their father, barely looking around his legs to see her. "Now Sango dear, it was an accident I'm sure they didn't mean it. Don't be so hard-" She stopped him with her hand. "Don't even say it. Let me just tell you something Mr. Houshi, your sons have put me through a hell of a day! I didn't get coffee this morning I had to shave Kyo's head because Kouta thought it would be funny to put GUM in it! They almost had a food fight; they broke the window on the back door! I have bright green paint on my carpet and paint on my table, and NOW they have broken the only gift my father gave us before he passed! I am ready to rip my hair out, they house is a mess and as far as I am concerned you can take care of the children because I am leaving!" Miroku just stared at his fuming wife and waiting to make sure she was done, "What do you mean you're leaving?" She grabbed he sweater off the back of the couch and started picking the cheerios off of it, tossing them to the floor. "I am leaving. I don't know where I am going, but right now it is not here. Maybe I will come back. Good bye" And with that she was out the door.

As soon as the door shut, the boys stared up at their father with tears in their eyes and then Shiouri started crying. Miroku closed his eyes and sighed, "It is going to be a long night."

Sango walked and walked until she came to the center of town to the coffee shop, she walked in a sat down. A waitress came over and gave her a menu, Sango didn't even look at it. "I'll have a coffee with cream and three sugars please and also a garden salad." The waitress nodded, "It will be right out ma'am." "Thank you." As the waitress walked away Sango reached for the salt shaker and began messing with the top because it wasn't screwed on right, she was so absorbed in fixing the salt shaker she didn't see the person sit at the booth with her.

"Sango sweetie are you alright?" Sango jumped at the sound of the voice and looked up and smiled, "Mrs. Takahashi you scared me." "I am sorry dear, I assure you I didn't mean to." Sango nodded. "Now again, are you alright?" Izayoi asked again, Sango sighed and nodded. "Are you sure, because it looks to me that a certain mom is ready to rip her hair out." She said calmly with a smile. Sango's eyes widened, "How did you know that?!" She asked shocked, Izayoi laughed and grabbed Sango's hands that were atop the table. "Sango dear I raised Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. I know the look of a mother that wants to rip her hair out. Your hair is out of place, your have dark circles under your eyes from sleep deprivation and you are wearing a night shirt with a sweater with cheerios stuck to it." Sango laughed and shook her head. "I don't know what to do with them! How did you do it? I can't even imagine and child Sesshomaru or Inuyasha!"

Izayoi leaned back in the booth, "Dear it never is easy. But let me tell you something, their father's will never understand the hardships and stress we deal with day to day because our sons. Men have such a different bond with their sons. Their boys can do no wrong." Sango rolled her eyes, "Oh I know!" Izayoi laughed, "Sango just a word of advice. Relax; you have the time to do things. So what if the laundry piles up, things break, or messes occur. Just remember that boys will be boys and they will only be this age once. Mine are two grown men now, one with a wife and soon to be child and the other back from war and living in a house he bought for himself. You will laugh about this day soon I promise." Sango smiled, the waitress had come back with her food and coffee, "Ma'am did you want to order something?" She asked looking at Izayoi, "Oh no thank you dear." The waitress nodded and hurried away to answer the phone.

The two sat silent for a moment before Sango broke the silence. " So are you happy Inuyasha is home?" Izayoi smiled, "Very. I just wish I could pop in on him more. I know he is still having a hard time adjusting back to normal life here; but I can't go see him all the time." "Would like me to go check on him for you?" Sango chimed as she stirred her coffee, Izayoi's smile grew. "Oh dear could you please go see him for me. I haven't heard from him in days and I just want to know that he is alright." Sango nodded, "I will go over there right now." Sango said getting up leaving money for her food; Izayoi got up as well and hugged Sango. "It was good seeing you sweetie." Sango smiled and hugged the woman back, "You too Mrs. Takahashi"

When Sango got to Inuyasha's house it was 7:45 PM, once she got to the door she saw the newspapers that were piled up, at least 4 of them. She gave a questioning look and then knocked on the door; there was no answer she looked around the corner to see that there weren't any lights on. She turned the door knob and it opened, she slowly walked into the dark house. "Inuyasha are you home?" She called out to the quite house, she waited a moment for a response as she started to walk towards the kitchen; there was no answer. She turned the light on in the kitchen and realized alcohol bottles empty everywhere, "What in the world?" She thought out loud, THUMP, she slightly jumped at the noise and turned to where the noise was coming from. It was coming from upstairs, she slowly climbed the stairs. THUMP…THUMP…THUMP THUMP THUMP. She turned down one of the halls and saw a light coming from underneath the door at the end of the hall. She slowly reached for the knob, before her had got there the door flung open and there stood Inuyasha holding a knife down by his side.

Sango gasped, "Inuyasha it is just me! I didn't mean to startle you." Inuyasha let out a frustrated sigh, Sango immediately smelt alcohol on his breath. "Sango you seriously need to think about coming into someone's house uninvited. Especially if that person has been to war, I could have killed you!" Sango nodded as she looked around the room, more alcohol bottles and a punching bag hanging from the ceiling and multiple knives stuck to a cork board covering one of the four walls. "Inuyasha are you okay?" He stumbled over to the punching bag and then punched it hard creating the THUMP noise Sango heard earlier.

"Never better. Why?" He said as he continues to punch the bag. Sango sat on the couch on the far side of the room, "Because you are clearly drunk and have not left your house in days." Inuyasha stopped in mid punch, Sango noticed this and smiled. "Look Sango, I don't have to leave my house all the time, and so what if I am drunk. I am aloud to drink, but thanks for the input MOM." Sango stood up and walked over to him and poked his shoulder, him being a little unsteady, took a step back. "Look Mr. "Tough Guy". She said with air quotes, " I came to check on you because your mother is worried about you. I also thought it would be nice to sit a talk with you because I haven't since you got back. " He glared at her, "I don't need to be checked up on. I am not a child." Sango laughed, "Clearly someone needs to check on you because you certainly have a drinking problem!" Inuyasha turned and walked towards the window, " I don't have a drinking problem. I can stop whenever I want. I'm drinking to make it go away." Sango walked over to him, "Make what go away Inuyasha?" She placed her hand on his shoulder and he twitched beneath her touch and moved away, turning around to face her. "The memories of the boy I let die."
