Chapter 12

AN: Well this took a bit longer than wanted. But thank you for hanging in there, I hope you enjoy this chappie!

Sango felt a tug on her pants leg as she was finishing up the laundry, she looked down and saw Kisa standing there. She knelt down to her level, "Kisa sweetie what are you doing awake it is almost 2 in the morning?" Kisa rubbed her eyes with one hand while hugging her stuffed dog, "I had a bad dream. Can I come sleep in your bed with you and uncle Roku?" Sango gave a small laugh and picked the young girl up.

"Of course sweetie, come on lets go to sleep." Sango carried Kisa into the bedroom, where Miroku was sitting up looking at some files, "What is wrong with Kisa?" He asked putting the files over on the side table, Sango set her down in the bed and she immediately moved over to snuggle next to Miroku, he smiled and sank down in bed and cuddled her closer to him. "I had a bad dream." She said looking up at him.

"Oh well we can't have that. Don't worry me and Aunt Sango will keep you safe. You know that your Aunt here is a demon slayer." Kisa's eyes grew wide, "Really?!" He nodded, "Yup, she keeps all the demons away with her fighting skills." Sango gave a giggle, "Yeah and Uncle Miroku is a monk that keeps all the evil spirits away." Kisa's eyes just continued to grow, "Good then I will be safe in here." She said with a smile and then rolled over to Sango while she climbed into the bed.

Kagome and Inuyasha just held each other for a long while, she could slowly feel his body relax. He was the first to pull away and he placed his hand on her cheek and she leaned into it. "I don't want you to go." He said is a raspy voice, she gave a small smile, "I won't leave tonight, and I can stay." He rested his forehead on hers and he closed his eyes, she leaned in for half a second and then stopped. He looked down at her and nodded. Her cheeks slightly flushed and she pulled away and back into the bathroom to clean up the mess.

Inuyasha walked over to the bed and sat down then he started to feel a vibrating coming from somewhere on the bed. He turned around and saw a phone that must have been Kagome's, on the caller ID it read 'Hospital.' "Hey Kagome the hospital is calling." She came running into his bedroom and over to him and grabbed the phone, "Hello" she said, "No, I am sorry I lost track of time. I had a bit of an emergency." She was quiet for a moment, clearly listening to the other voice mumbling on the other end. "Oh, okay I understand. I do hope everyone is alright and if you need me please call." She said with a bit of concern in her voice, "Oh well thank you sir, I will see you then, thank you. Bye"

"Everything okay?" Inuyasha asked leaning back on the bed and staring at the ceiling letting out a long breath. Kagome looked over to him and smiled, she walked over to the bed on the other side and sat down.

"Yeah, I mean sort of." She gave a small laugh, "I should have been there about an hour or so, but I guess because of the storm the bridge is blocked and my boss wanted to know if I was alright." Inuyasha turned his head to look over to her, "Well I am glad that you are here safe then." Kagome smiled, "Me too, and actually he gave me the rest of the week off!" "Well that is great, is there a reason why."

Kagome shrugged, "He just he knows I have been working extra hours and knows I have a lot going on right now with family, so he wanted to give me a break. It is nice of him." She said with a smiling looking over to him and laid down next to him and rolled onto her side to face him. "Well it is getting late, maybe we should try to sleep." He looked over to her and nodded and walked over to the couch he had in his room. Her gaze followed him as he walked over there, "Inuyasha, I can sleep on the couch this is your home." He turned and looked at her and shook his head, "No Kagome. I will sleep on the couch, I'd rather you have the bed." She didn't object because she knew he wouldn't back down, she sighed and got under the covers in the bed and once she saw that he was laying on the couch she reach up and turned off the bed side light. "Goodnight Inuyasha, get some sleep." "Goodnight Kagome."

"Sango honey I am sure Kagome is fine, she called you last night. I am sure just after work she got tired and went home." Sango was sitting at the table running her finger around the rim of the coffee cup, "She didn't go to work Miroku. I called over there this morning. The weather was so bad she didn't come in. What if something happened when she left Inuyasha's?!" She said sounding more frantic by the moment. Miroku stood behind her and began to rub her shoulders, he leaned down and kissed her neck and then said, "Kagome is fine, I am sure of it. Let me take the kids to school today it is Friday and I don't have to be in the office for a bit. The baby is asleep and you need to just calm down for a bit." Sango took a deep breath and nodded, he smiled and kissed her cheek and headed upstairs to get the kids together.

After Miroku left Sango had about paced a trench into the floor, Kagome's phone was going straight to voicemail and Inuyasha was not answering. She was about to call in reinforcements. "Kagome why can't you just answer your phone!" She said aggravated out loud, "Well I didn't have a charger and it died." Sango spun around and looked over to Kagome who was standing in the doorway.

"Kagome Higurashi one of these days you are going to give me a heart attack and won't be here to save me! Where have you been?" She said pulling her into a tight hug and then pulled away and held Kagome at her shoulders semi- shaking her," Do you know how worried I was with this storm?! You didn't even go to work! What was I going to tell Kisa, or Sesshomaru when I called him?!" Kagome shook her head and gave a laugh.

"Sango I didn't go to work because of the bad weather and I stayed at Inuyasha's. I am okay and I was going to call but I couldn't find my car charger, but everything is fine I promise. I am sorry I worried you." She said hugging her friend again. Sango sighed and hugged her back. "Just don't do that again." Kagome nodded.

Sango walked into the kitchen to grab Kagome some coffee; she looked like she needed it. "Wait you stayed over at Inuyasha's" Sango said turning the hand Kagome the coffee raising an eyebrow while doing so. Kagome gave a glaring look, "Not like that."

Sango sat down at the table and gave a lecherous smile, Kagome rolled her eyes, "Okay one, this isn't high school and two, your husband is rubbing off on you." Sango gave a laugh, Kagome continued. "I went over there to talk and we did. Then I didn't need to go to work because of the bad weather so I stayed because of that as well. He wanted me to stay there."

"So he just wanted you to stay, but it wasn't like that?" Kagome shook her head and took another drink on her coffee, "No. He just has a lot that he is going through, he just wanted me there for the comfort plus I needed to be there. He is so different Sango. So broken." She said staring ahead at nothing. Sango reached out and grabbed her hand, Kagome looked over at her. "Second chances at life are sometimes hard to start again."

"I am so ready for this baby to be here already." Rin said as she slowly sat down onto the couch at her mother-in-law's house. Izayoi came over carrying a tray of tea, "Sweetie you are almost there just about another month. Just be patient." Rin sighed, "I will be patient when the doctor hands me the child and it is out of me. I am so uncomfortable, I am as huge as a bus and I can't even see my feet. I am pretty sure my shoes don't even match because Sesshomaru left early this morning!" Izayoi looked down and couldn't help but smile, she had on one red flat and the other brown. She didn't have the heart to tell her otherwise. She handed the cup to the very pregnant Rin, she took it with a smile.

They sat there for the afternoon and talked about the baby and hopefully the room being done soon with all the construction. Their time was running out and they needed to get everything ready for the baby. While they were talking Inutashio came walking in and kissed Izayoi on the cheek and Rin on the forehead. "How is my grandchild today?" He said sitting down next to Izayoi. Rin slumped back on the couch and smile, "Being a little kicker. I am waiting for my ribs to pop out. I have Kagome on speed dial." They all laughed.

"Speaking of Kagome, has anyone heard from her lately. I was meaning to talk to her about something." Izayoi said standing up and grabbing the tray with the tea, Inutashio stood up and took the tray from her, "I have not seen that girl is so long, her of Kisa come to think of it. How is my little angel?" Rin smiled, "She is just that. That little girl is everything you want in a child." She said rubbing her stomach. Inutashio laughed, "You clearly have not seen the child mad; she has the temper of her father and the stubbornness of her mother. Quite a force to be reckon with she is."

"Well then I supposed our child will be just as bad." Sesshomaru said walking into the room with Inuyasha behind him. Rin smiled and struggled to get herself off the couch; but managed after a minute or two and made her way over to Sesshomaru and got on her tiptoes to kiss him. He looks down at her feet and raised an eyebrow and gave a small laugh and shook his head. "Don't" she said holding up a finger. "I cannot see my fat feet over this huge monstrosity of a stomach. So shush!" Inuyasha laughed and walked over to his parents, "So Kisa's dad has a temper. Did he ever hurt Kagome?" He said with a growl in the back of his throat. "Inuyasha calm yourself. No one has ever hurt her." Sesshomaru said.

Inuyasha stood and looked at his dad, it has been 5 years since he saw him. Maybe even longer he didn't go to his dad when he left he was too ashamed for running. His dad would not stand for it. He expected so much more of him. He was mentally preparing himself for what his dad was getting ready to say. Without a word he pulled Inuyasha into a hug, Inuyasha just stared wide-eyed as he hugged him back.

"Now that I am finally able to see you, let's go have a talk my son." "That's what I was waiting for." Izayoi smiled and shook her head. "Go on you too, I will bring lunch to the study after I feed the pregnant woman." Rin gave a small laugh, "Finally I am so hungry!"
