A:N: Sorry for the delay guys, I was hoping with everything going on with COVID I could be better with updates, but I did end up getting a job so I have been busy! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter!

CHAPTER 17

Sesshomaru had just finished his shower and was going through his closet to get dressed, when he heard Rin walk into the bedroom, "Honey you are going to be late for work if you don't leave soon." She said poking her head into the closet.

"I'm not going into the station today, I am going over to Inuyasha's." He said grabbing his shoes and walking over to the foot of the bed to sit down and put them on. Rin nodded and went to the closet as well and struggled to grab a pair of shoes, to this Sesshomaru immediately jumped up to help her.

"What do you think you are doing?" He asked as he held the shoes she was reaching for away from her slightly. She crossed her arms and huffed.

"I am coming with you. I am not going to sit here while you go and find out what is wrong. He hasn't responded to my calls or texts all week.

Sesshomaru sighed and closed his eyes, "I know he said he was going to get the nursery done last week when he was here but hasn't come back over and he isn't responding to me either and now my father is calling me as well."

"Exactly, so we will go together!" She said and snatched her shoes from him and then walked over to the bed with them in triumph, he shook his head, rolled his eyes and laughed.

"I don't want you to be home alone, but I don't think it is best you come with me to my brother's. I will drop you off at Kagome's." He said as he knelt down to help her put her shoes on. Rin gave a defeated sigh and nodded.

As they drove over to Kagome's house Sesshomaru began to think out loud, "Kagome was over at the house the other day when he was there, wasn't she?" He asked looking over at Rin, she turned to him and nodded, "Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?"

"I just was checking to see if they had gotten into another one of their fights." Rin shook her head to that, "Nope, he left right after her though. Didn't even come back in to say goodbye. So that was a bit odd."

He finally got Rin over to Kagome's and then headed over to Inuyasha's from there, it was about another 15 minutes. He finally pulled up to Inuyasha's and noticed his curtains were shut over all the windows.

As soon as he parked in the driveway he sat in the car for a moment trying to prepare himself for whatever state Inuyasha was going to be in. As he got out of the car he noticed the mailman was pulling up to Inuyasha's mailbox so he walked over to get the mail from him.

"Oh good, you are home. Your mailbox is overflowing, so here is today's mail and then the last I think 5 days." The man said assuming that he was Inuyasha and then opened the mailbox to hand Sesshomaru the large pile of mail.

"Thank you." Was all Sesshomaru said and then headed towards the front door, he waited for the mailman to drive off before knocking on the door. After a few minutes and about 3 more times of knocking he was running out of patience, so he began to pound on the door.

He waited for another 10 minutes while still continuing to pound on the door before Inuyasha opened the door with an unhappy look on his face. "Don't you know when someone doesn't come to the door that means that you should go away?" He said with an irritated tone, Sesshomaru just looked him over for a minute; his hair was out of place and his eyes had dark circles and you could smell the alcohol on him, and he also was just wearing a pair of boxers and a tee shirt.

"Inuyasha you need a shower." Sesshomaru said as he walked in slapping his mail into his chest as he passed him in the doorway.

"Oh sure just come on in why don't you?" He said with heavy sarcasm, slammed the door and then began fumbling with the locks on the door in his drunken state. Sesshomaru watched his younger brother and then looked around the living room and saw the mess it was. With bottles and then a few empty ramen cups lying around.

Inuyasha finally finished messing with the locks and then turned to his brother, "Look I just want to be alone okay?" Inuyasha said walking into his living room and sitting in the chair in the far corner, tossing the mail pile on the floor next to him and grabbed the glass he had on the side table. Sesshomaru immediately took it from him and smelled it.

"Inuyasha no more." He said and placed it on the coffee table on the other side of the room, he then sat across from his brother on the couch.

Inuyasha let out an aggravated sigh, "I am sick and tired of everyone telling me I have had enough or no more! I am an adult dammit and I can do whatever the hell I want!" He yelled leaning back in the chair he was sitting in.

"So everyone can shut the hell up and let me drink it away!" Sesshomaru just sat there and didn't say anything for a minute and Inuyasha half expected him to and now was getting angrier from the non-response he was getting, he was now standing.

"I just need everyone to leave me alone, and let me just deal with things on my own." Sesshomaru let out a long breath and then looked over at his brother.

"Yes, because clearly that is working for you. Drinking your life away when you have been given a second chance at your life with your friends and family."

"Well getting a second chance isn't worth shit if you can't make anything work!"

"What happened between you two this time?" Sesshomaru asked getting up and headed to the kitchen, he grabbed a glass of water and two Aspirin, bringing it back to his brother.

He shook his head and sat back down in the chair and started rubbing his temples, then took the water and medicine, "I brought up Kisa's dad." At that Sesshomaru now was the one giving the frustrated sigh, "Inuyasha." He said in an almost annoyed tone.

"Oh don't start with that! I am so over this deadbeat man that isn't around." He said and then took a deep breath and then continued to tell him about what exactly he had said to her that night at their house and that he felt like they were finally getting to a point of being able to talk again but he messed it up.

"Inuyasha you need to stop treating Kagome like she is 19 and you are her boyfriend. That time has passed. She is a grown woman with a child and she has responsibilities. I understand you guys used to be close but you need to get your head out of your ass and think before you talk to her. Especially if you want to be close to her again; which clearly you do." Inuyasha grunted and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Oh please- don't act like we all don't know you two." Sesshomaru said quickly in response to his brother's pouting, "The difference is, you were gone and there is time that has gotten between you. You are both different people. You said you have seen and done things I am sure you are not proud of, but you need to remember two things. One, she has had just as much time pass as you and things happened for her too. Two, you are not over there anymore. You are here and I think it is about time you let yourself move forward and actually start to heal little brother." He paused for a moment. "That is if you do intend for things to actually work this time. Otherwise by all means keep doing what you're doing and masking the problem with these." He gesture to the bottles.

"You left her once before little brother and that leaves and deep wound. Even she may not fully see how deep. So you need to ask yourself how invested are you? Are you really willing to do everything it's going to take to help heal that hurt, to truly get what you want? If what you want is what you had before? Or could you be content to just be her friend? To only have that little bit of her heart and not allowed access to more- allowed to get closer. Could you truly handle that?" Inuyasha just sat there for a few minutes and didn't say anything.

Just thinking about what Sesshomaru had just said. "I'll let you stew on that for a while, but for the sake of those that love you- especially my pregnant wife you've ignored for a week. Take a damned shower and then return your damned phone calls."

After the talking Sesshomaru had with Inuyasha, he came back over and finished the nursery and still would come over a few times a week to make sure Rin was okay while Sesshomaru was at work. Rin had just about a week or so left and was super ready for this baby to come, between her mood swings and not being able to sleep she was completely over it.

"Rin are you sure you don't need anything before I go?" Inuyasha asked as he finished putting away the dishes he had just washed, she smiled and shook her head.

"No Inuyasha, you have done enough. Thank you."

He nodded and then waved at her as he was leaving, when he opened the front door his eyes widened as he say Kagome standing there holding her hand up to knock.

She let her hand fall, "Hi." She said in a quiet voice, he nodded and responded back.

"Hi." As he said that he then stepped around her to leave to which she turned around.

"Hey Inu, wait!" She said walking over to him at his motorcycle, he stopped putting on his helmet and turned towards her.

"Whats up?"

"I am sorry about the other day. I didn't mean to get so angry, Kisa's dad is just a sore subject with me."

He sighed and nodded, "Yeah, I know I shouldn't have said anything. I just - the situation, I mean, it makes me angry."

She gave a small smile, "What happened, there is no going back. So we just have to "start over," like we talked about a few weeks ago."

He nodded and then he put on his helmet and got on is bike, she smiled and waved as he turned on the engine, which roared to life then he back out of the driveway and rode away.

Kagome turned back around and walked into the house and smiled over at Rin who was sitting on the couch with her feet up on the ottoman. She said down next to her, "How ya doing momma?" She asked with a smile.

"Oh you know the size of a house and emotions of a Schizo." Kagome shook her head and gave a small giggle. "I am sure your emotions are not as bad as you think. You just feel that way."

They laughed together and then were silent for a few moments, Rin kept looking down at her stomach and smiling while rubbing it slightly, then her smile fell. "How did you do this by yourself?"

Kagome was a bit thrown off by that question and didn't look at her when she answered, "I wasn't necessarily alone. I had you, Sesshomaru, Sango, Miroku, Souta, and of course Izayoi and Inutashio. But I won't lie and say it was easy. The worst parts were the nights and then of course when I went into the hospital, I felt such an enormous weight on my shoulders because he wasn't there."

Rin reached over and took Kagome's hand; which made Kagome look over at her, she had a small smile on her face. "Kags you had no control of him being there." Kagome nodded and looked over at Rin's stomach and placed her hand atop it and smiled when she felt a kick. Rin jumped slightly at this and then let out a short breath. "This little peanut is sure strong, some days I feel like they will just jump right out." Kagome shook her head and laughed.

They spent a few hours talking and then finally Kagome had to leave to go get Kisa from Izayoi's house as she was watching her for the day. A short bit after she left, maybe about half an hour, Sesshomaru finally came home. Rin was just finishing dinner and sitting down to eat as he came in.

"Oh honey, I didn't know you were going to be home so early tonight. I would have made you a plate." She said starting to get up from the table, but he held up his hand to her and she sat back down, he came over and kissed her forehead.

"Babe I can make my own plate, you sit down and relax." He then went to make his plate and sat down next to her at the table.

"Sesshy I am at home all day "relaxing." I can at least try to be useful." He shook his head and smile, "Rin you are making a child, you are being plenty useful right now." She just laughed and continued to eat dinner with her husband.
