Chapter 001 - Ragnarök [EN]
It was a really ordinary day for the Snake tribe, at least until an event totally unpredictable happened. In no more than a heartbeat, the entire tribe lost their mastery over the power of time. This unprecedented event left the leaders of the tribe entirely off-guard, because without the Time, the warriors of the tribe, even the most powerful, lost half their power, due to the fact that all of them mastered nearly exclusively time and darkness.
After this unpredictable event took place, the leader of the tribe, desperate to protect themselves as well as the rest of the tribe, tried to find the origin of this problem. Their only lead was the other tribe who have a dominant mastery over Time, the Guardians of Time, and those were the events that started what is nowadays known as "Ragnarök", the War of Time.
Shortly after a rousing speech about the "thieves of time" that the entire tribe declared a total war against the guardians of time, thinking that the end of every last one of the guardians will give them the ability to master the power of Time again.
Those were the events that lead to more than four thousand years of intense war between the Snake Tribe and the Guardians of Time. During those times the balance never tilted more on one side than the other, always perfectly stable. For every battle won by one side, another would be lost. Even if the Snake tribe lacked power, they made due in cunning strategies, while the guardians of time trained more and more, reaching height never even imagined a few years prior.
This war has allowed both sides to develop their own way of fighting, following the never ending rhythm of the bloody battles, but in the shadows people from both sides were trying to definitely tilt the scales in their favor.
Those events then lead us to a beautiful day on the home planet of the Guardians of Time, during the festival of the spring, every person present lost for but a moment the control over every energy.
This weird event, because of its shortness, didn't alert the guardians more than that and was soon forgotten, or at least until a month later. It was the first big battle since this incident, except for a few skirmishes. It was called a battle, but it would be more realistic to call it a massacre.
That day, the Guardians of Time were entirely decimated.
To understand how the scales could have tilted this strongly and quickly, we will need to go back in time, to the day of the festival of the spring, because on that day, not only the people belonging to the guardians, but every living organism of the 4 KINGS momentarily lost the control of their energy. This was caused by the artificial creation of a brand new energy, never heard before. Kiriamo, the inventor of this energy, did it with the goal of artificially recreating the energy of time, but he created a weapon even more deadly.
Every person of the Snake Tribe, in a fraction of a second, acquired a new energy, in addition to those they controlled before, The SMOG, an energy extremely "contagious" because one person only need a touch to make it learn to another person, but if this one is unable to control this new power, he will suffer a slow and extremely painful death.
Now, after some time to learn how to master this power, the Tribe decided to last an all-out attack against the Guardians. With those new powers, even in direct combat, the warriors of the Tribe had but little difficulty to kill the entire population living on this planet, but a dozen or so people managed, by sheer luck, to escape this massacre..
Included in those persons, only one child, named Ryu, managed to escape, thanks to someone who visited the planet at that time. That person took the child under his care, raising him as his own, but sparing no detail of his upbringing, creating a deep hatred for the snake tribe in the mind of the young man.
Those were the events that took place at the origin and relative end of Ragnarök. "Relative end" because, even with the extermination, the Tribe was not able to control the Time again. The leader then decided to stop the battles and search for possible survivor, even if this possibility was, in their eyes, abysmally low, but that is a story for another time.
