Hey everyone I'm new here been inspired to write a story here around Highschool DxD for a while. This essentially will pretty much more or less follow the canon story of the anime. (I've haven't read the manga. My apologies if that causes inconviences) Pretty much think an alternate universe where it's the same story just with some ocs sprinkled in. Some elements will be different but I'll do my best to represent the characters here. The first couple chapters will focus more of the main oc of this story. Think of it like a prolouge before we incorporate him into the main story.
Okay let's get started.

Chapter 1 - Deadly Hunt! A Desperate Escape!
"After him! Don't let him escape!" a masked man shouted. He was followed by a small group of others as they ventured through the forest. These masked figures donned with flashlights shining through the thickness of the forest. Rustlings and moving branches could be heard as the group would shine their light at the source but see nothing causing the disturbance.
"I'm not seeing anything!" a feminine voice shouted. The group moving as one unit. Frantic and rushing in a panic.
"Keep looking we have to find him alive or his power will be lost! The Masters will have our heads! For Oblivion!" the masked man shouted. He was more in a more delicate decorated robe, signifying that this one plays an important role in the group.
"For Oblivion!" the group shouted. The leader rallied the group working into a more cohesive unit as they traversed through the forest. Beams of light pointing in different directions. One beam tracked a moving shadow but they couldn't confirm if it was the branches or something else. They continued to traverse into the forest.
Another beam saw a more clearer shadow. It's shape not that of a branch but more human. Whoever this was was careless for this moment and it could cost them.
"I see a shadow running that way! It must be him!" a member shouted pointing towards the location. They gestured the group and left a smirk on the leader.
"Seems ya gotten careless boy! You know ya can't run from us forever! You have something we want and we won't stop until we kill ya!" the leader ranting at whoever the figure would be. "It's best you quit now before things get worse!" he shouted as he gestured the group to spread out. Each one going in different directions to try and corner the owner of the shadow.
"We know this forest inside and out! None of ya silly tree hopping and acrobatics can get you out of this! Show yourself! Or I'll burn this forest to the ground!" the leader kept poking and prodding trying to get a reaction of sorts.
We pan over to the owner of the shadow hiding up in the branches. He propped himself to blend in with the trees. His face was covered by a mask of sorts minus the eyes and a large hood over him. Vibrant golden eyes looked down at the group darting between the different robed figures. Beads of sweat trickled down his face as he held his breath hoping for a small opportunity to move without being noticed.
"Fine then! Have it your way!" the leader shouted. He then pulled out a small canister of lighter fluid. He took a dagger from one of the other figures and jabbed a small hole and tossed the canister towards a tree trunk. The canister continued to leak leaving a puddle ready to be set on fire.
A box of matches was then pulled out and he struck one lighting it. "Last chance!" he shouted.
"Shit!" he whispered to himself quietly. "He's actually going to go that far..."
The boy then decided to avoid any more attention that the best course would to show himself. He then climbed down from the branches of the trees and dropped down onto the dirt path in front of the group. All the lights then jerked to him as he covered his face to see better.
"That's a good kid." the leader snickered as he emerged from the group. "You know you almost got away with it you know. As much as you irritate me I have to give you credit! You're an elusive rat! Your death before The Masters will be a swift one. Come on now!" he gestured for the hooded man to walk towards the group.
The hooded one left his hands in the air as he walked towards the group. A small smirk was left underneath the mask he wore. As he was surrounded by the group he flinged one of his sleeves revealing a small ball flung out his right sleeve. A cloud of dust and smoke suddenly expanded around the group distorting their vision.
"Ah damnit!" one shouted before a hand chop landed dropping them to the floor. The hooded boy then shoved one into another he stepped to the leader landed a hit disorienting him and made a break for it. He dashed away as his appearance slowly disspated into the darkness.
The smoke cleared and the group minus the three on the floor regroup.
"Clever little shit..." the leader muttered in frustration as he went for his matches but they weren't in his hands. He patted himself down and searched his pockets before realizing the real reason they're gone. His expression, hidden underneath the mask he bore, turn aggressive in an instant pushing the other members out of rage.
"Damnit all to hell! I'll find you Cassius! Do ya hear me? I swear I will bring The Masters ya head on a platter! Mark my words!" The members clustered back together once again.
"Well? After him! Find him! Search every nook and cranny! I will not let you all sleep until we get him tied up and shipped back to the ritual site! It's that or it's all OUR heads!" he shouted and berated at the members as they panicked and searched throughout the forest profusely and without rest.
The boy kept running until he was close to the other end of the forest. As he ventured out and exited the area, he took a moment of reprise as he kneeled over to catch his breath. He panted heavily. Beads of sweat trickled down as he pulled down the mask revealing his full face. A scar bore near his bottom left cheek and trailing up the cheek. Golden eyes looked around to see if there was any more robed ones chasing him and looked back at the forest. There were no shining beams of light and he heard the leader berating the others echoing throughout the forest.
He took another deep breath before he started walking out in the open. Not a soul to be seen.
("Hold it. Stead fast, child.") A voice shouted as the figure groaned softly doing as told.
"What? You know I'm running for my life right now. Can it wait?" he said looking up into the sky.
("Unfortunately no. I sense a stronger presence near you and approaching. Be steady and tread carefully.")
"Well that's another thing to worry about. Alright then." he took the ambiguous voice's advice and kept on walking all the while paying attention to his surroundings. Cassius went up the sidewalk strolling.
("That presence is approaching quickly. You better hide.") the voice quickly called to him as Cassius looked to find a bush in a nearby house and hid in it. He kept his breath quiet and steady as he pulled his mask back up. He parted a small opening to see up the way another figure from a distance. They were also in a robe but it was different from the others.
"That must be that presence you were talking about. Do you think it can sense you?"
("I don't know but keep quiet until you think you have an opportunity.)
"I swear I'ma be doing this all night aren't I."
("Stay strong. I have faith you'll be out of this soon.")
The boy sighed deeply before looking back out at the end of the street. He couldn't make out who or what it was but there was one detail he could make out; wings sprouted from the back of whatever was standing on the end of the street. They were pointed at the end and pitch black as the night itself.
"Pointed wings are you kidding me?!" he grunted quietly. "What the hell is this a demon?"
("As a matter of fact it is. More specifically a devil.")
"Wait say what now? The boy sat there confused. Dumbfounded by the voice's statement. "You can tell that just from here? Aren't those just fictional?"
("You say that as you're talking to me.") the voice deadpanned.
"You know what that is fair." he shrugged it off for he knew the world he knew was unraveling. "So what do we do? They must know I'm here if they're just standing there. Do you think I should just bolt a different direction.
("I wouldn't advise. You would just be going back to the cultists being at risk for capture again.")
A nervous smirk spread across the boy's face. "Weird feels like I'm at a crossroads aren't I? I go back to what I was running from or run toward whatever is over that hill over there."
("Like I said, I'd advise going back. Nevertheless, no matter what you choose, I'm with you till the end, child")
A nervous chuckle came to the boy as he emerged from the bush. "Well time to move forward then." he said as he threw on his hood and he stepped out onto the road in an attempt to make it past the devil.
"No matter what I'm not going back. I'll take whatever comes at me."
Hey there! If ya made it this far, I just want to say thank you very much for taking the time to read the first chapter. This is my first time writing up a fanfic. I had the basis for this story planned out and whatnot. I'm currently working on the second chapter but I work full time so it'll be a few days. If anyone have any questions/ criticisms I appreciate it!
Until the next chapter! See ya then!
