Chapter 9: Happiness vs. Sadness

One very mild first Saturday of November 2020, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri at their apartment in Penn Hills. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Our boss, Mrs. Ellis met up with us over FaceTime. We ate cobb salad and potatoes for lunch. The first presentation she gave was a discussion on honoring lost loved ones and grief due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the second presentation she gave was our normal presentation on the basics of throwing slumber parties. This inspired the 4 of us to have our own night of fun together. The games we decided to play were Hold It, Musical Sleeping Bags, Can You Do It?, and Palm Reading. We also decided to make Me Pillows and Friendship Bracelets for crafts. Then, we all sat down to eat dinner. I ate homemade pepperoni pizza, Sarah ate a homemade salad, James ate a taco pie, and Henri ate chicken nachos. We each provided our own desserts to eat, as well. I provided cupcakes, Sarah provided a fruit compote, James provided s'mores, and Henri provided turtles. "At least, when people go away on a trip, you know they will always be back," I pointed out. "Unless they are moving away or passing away." "That was the case when I baby-sat you and Henri for the very first time," Sarah pointed out. "I knew that we could still make our own evening of fun and games similar to tonight." "We had fun back then, and we are all having fun right now," Henri stated. "Of course, I would come back home and throw a house party for my best friends of all ages," James remembered. "The pizza I made tonight reminds me of what we ate at the party," I told my friends. James laughed. "I know you love pizza, don't you, Angel?" James asked. "Uh-huh," I agreed. "We all do." I yawned and went inside Sarah's bedroom. "You probably are very tired, aren't you, Angel?" Sarah asked me. "Yes," I told Sarah. "That discussion we had on honoring lost loved ones and grief was very sad, because what would happen if your cats, Silky and Buttercup died?" "I would be very sad, as you would be if your mom or your cat, Mattie passed away," Sarah told me. Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to go to bed. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
