Chapter 8 - A New Life Starts! - As A Devil and... A School Student?!

"What do you mean I start school today?! I agreed to join your peerage what does have to do with school?!" Cassius yelled beside himself.

"Like I said yesterday, this club is more of a front. I can't have one of my supposed members running about all over the place. Plus I need eyes of everyone."

Cassius groaned but he eventually agreed although begrudgingly. "I suppose you're right about that. Even so that's a cruel move not telling me about that."

"Oh hush now. You'll be fine." Rias scoffed but not in a mean way. " Besides you'll be in the same class as Issei and most of the others so it's not like you'll be alone."

"With how he was googly eyes at Lucille, I'm pretty sure that's more of a detriment than a benefit."

"He's like that with everyone. Although sometimes it may be...troublesome, I wouldn't worry about it."

"Saying that makes me worry." Cassius slid his hands in his pockets as he stood up in front of Rias letting out a huge yawn. "A nap sounds great right now."

Rias pinched Cassius's cheek causing him to wince. "H-Hey there's no need for that! Jeez!"

"That should wake you up for a bit." Rias said looking stern but then returned to her smile. "Alright come on let's go." she said as she started walking out. "Welcome to your new life, Cassius Ainsley."

He sighed in disappointment. He didn't want to do the whole school thing but I guess it was something he had to deal with. Stinks I can't summon my devil wings yet." he paused for a moment as he pictured. He strained trying to will it and it finally happened. He looked at them in their pointy splendor.

"Huh. I guess I can do it now. Neat"

Later on

"Everyone was staring at us you know that right? Damn that was really awkward."

"Well." Rias began as she turned to Cassius while they were walking to a classroom. "You are new here. Everyone will be looking. Especially since you're walking with me."

"Only cause you insisted." he groaned and whined.

"Oh? Was that not something you wanted?" she teased but to no avail. Cassius yawned once more.

"What I need is more sleep. I don't what you did while I was sleeping but that took a lot out of me." Rias pouted as she pinched his cheek. "Ow! Will you please stop that?!"

"Hmph." she looked away as they continued walking towards the door eventually arriving. "This is your classroom. Good luck." she winked at him before walking away as Cassius looked on. Rubbing his cheek which was red and still throbbing.

Cassius walked in and the classroom stopped talking seeing the bot walk in. Donning the rolled up sleeves and the school uniform upon the teacher's signal, he curtsied and introduced himself.

"Name's Cassius. Hope you're all doing well. I'ma take my seat now."

The classroom was kind of taken aback. Even the members of the Occult Research Club who known him for a bit. He took the only seat available in front of Issei. Next to him was the other two members of the Perverted Trio. Cassius didn't know of them yet but he heard of people to watch out for, mainly the girls who were aware of the reputation they uphold.

"Oh my he's cute." one girl began chatting.

"Quite the looker I do say."

"He's almost as handsome as Kiba."

"Seems the girls love you, dude." Issei chuckled a bit.

Cassius lounged in his chair with his hands in his pockets. He shrugged his shoulders and made a small noise signifying no interest.

"Don't really matter to me, man" Cassius said as he looked onward.

"I'm just saying you might overtake Kiba for hottest guy in class."

"Eh. I'm sure he's got it covered. Not focusing on that right now."

"Wait really?" Issei sounded confused. "But what about you and Lucille?"

He turned to him immediately with a slight blush. "I told you she's not my girlfriend!Now will you chill with that?"

"But I coulda swore-"

"Just. Chill with that. Alright? We just known each other for a long time and we aaahhHHHHHHHHHHH?!" Cassius looked surprised and shocked to see a very familiar face donning the school uniform.

It was Lucille who like Cassius, was enrolling today but Rias didn't bother telling him at all probably just for this event. Issei was surprised as well and blushed at the sight of the gorgeous girl as she looked on to see Cassius. Her eyes lity as she laid her gaze on the blushing stuttering mess.

"Hey, Cassius! Surprise I'm going to school too! Don't cha think I look cute in this?"

"I-I-I-I-I-I-I..." Cassius couldn't form a sentence at all. He couldn't handle Lucille looking so cute in the uniform. He slammed his head on the desk hiding his face as all the girls aww'd at the boy.

"Look at him he can't even form a sentence!"

"He's so adorable!"

"I wonder if they're dating?" Cassius and Lucille blushed harder at the question hiding their faces as she sat next to him. Cassius begun to scream internally as Issei looked on.

"This is turning into one interesting class."

Later that day

"You could've told me Lucille was enrolling too!"

"Oopsies! Must've forgot to tell you!" Rias said playfully as her and Akeno giggled. "We heard all about what happened. You sounded so adorable."

"Will you shut up?! I did not!" Cassius flipped over his hood hiding his blushing face.

"Seriously although you look and seem mysterious, you are absolutely adorable to tease." Akeno giggled as she sat down on the chair across from Cassius and Lucille.

"Anyway you and Issei need to get to work on some contracts to see if you can make a pact. I told you about them earlier today. Koneko has a bigger load of summons so I'm wondering, Cassius if you can take one of them?"

"Oh for the girl with the candy? Sure why not. Gotta return the favor."

"Perfect you can take this one. Issei currently on his way to do one. I'm hoping he gets a pact."

"Eh. I'm sure the pervert will get one sooner or later if you motivate him enough. Anyway I'ma work on this and I'll see how he's doing if I come across him. "

"That would be perfect. Thank you." Rias expressed her gratitude. "Now hopefully you'll be able to do the summons successfully so let's give it a go." she said as a big red magic circle revealed itself. Cassius stepped towards it and moments afterward it zipped him away.

Later that night

"Welp that sucked. Hoping Issei is having better luck on his end." Cassius sighed in disappointment. The request and everything failed the moment he was summoned there. Apparently not looking like the white haired petite girl was a big enough let down to kick him out. "I mean really was it really that important for it to be Koneko?"

"Eh. Well anyway. Let's find where Issei is." he muttered to himself as he felt a sense of dread overwhelm him. He froze for a moment but then realizing potentially the reason for it. "That felt bad. Really bad." he said as Cassius quickly bolted towards the direction he felt what caused that sense to envelop him.

He arrived at the house as he noticed it was open. He stood at it thinking of what to do before he heard noises and yelling before he kicked down the door. He ran into the room to see a blond haired girl and her clothes ripped up, clearly in distress, a seemingly psychotic with a sword of light, and a gun. Probably an exorcist. He turned to see Issei who is shot in the leg as he sat up against the wall.

"Well I know now you're not doing great." he said as he turned to the exorcist.

"Well well well. Somehow another devil came to play. Well that's fine more pieces to chop up ahahahahahahha!" he laughed maniacally as he lunged his sword at Cassius before he dodged and launched a spinning backfist . The fist connected and the exorcist stepped back a few steps before looking back in annoyance.

"Well aren't you just a piece of shit. You don't seem special yet that hit hard as a rock! What gives?!" the white haired man started yelling. The sacred gear revealed itself and upon it's appearance the exorcist winced.

'Didn't seem too excited seeing the sacred gear.' Cassius thought to himself readying himself again. 'He might know something about it. Gonna have to be careful.'

The exorcist grinned again his psychotic behavior seemingly taking over as he was getting ready for another attack. "You seem interesting. I like you, boy! Especially that sacred gear! I wonder what it can do. I can't wait to see!" he shouted as he jumped towards Cassius swinging his sword in a downward motion. Cassius winced as the sword was close and the light was irritating him. He once again dodged as he then swung a kick into the exorcist's gut. He knelt over in pain dropping his weapons as a sphere rolled out of his coat. That immediately caught Cassius's eyes. The sphere rolled at Cassius's feet as he picked it up with his left hand. An energy resonated with the sacred gear and the orb glowed.

"Is this what I think it is?" Cassius muttered to himself.

("Yes indeed. This is the sphere you're looking for. To think that it would be in the hands of an exorcist.")

"H-Hey. That's mine don't you dare touch it!" the exorcist screamed as he slowly got up. His eyes widened before realizing what the sacred gear is. "Wait. If you know what that is then... it's you."

Cassius looked confused as a red circle appeared out of nowhere. The group came out one by one as Rias tended to Issei. The exorcist winced as he realized Cassius is with the Gremory house.

"You all have no idea what you're doing with that sacred gear of his. It's cursed! It will destroy you all!" the exorcist ranted and raved as he backed away. "You will all be sent to oblivion!"

"I will not listen to such ramblings of a madman. Now you will suffer for hurting my servants!" Rias shouted as her aura enveloped around her.

Koneko sniffed the air as she sighed. "Fallen angels are here."

"Backup! Finally!" the white haired man squealed with glee.

"Let's grab Issei and get out of here!" Rias ordered as Cassius already had him over his shoulder.

"Way ahead of you there." Cassius said as Issei struggled. "Jeez man! Will you calm down?!"

"No! I can't leave Asia! We have to help her!" Issei punched and kicked weakly at Cassius while he sighed.

Rias looked at the flailing Issei as she signaled Akeno to send them out.

"No!" the exorcist shot at the group but the bullets missed. "Damn it! That brat has the sphere! Shit!" he shouted as he swung his sword around in anger. "I have to tell the fallen angels! We have to get that back or we're all gonna die!"

As the group returns, Cassius props Issei down. "Easy there, guy." as he settled him down on the couch. While Rias and the rest tend to Issei, Cassius slips away outside the room as he pulls out the sphere.

"To think that is what I would be sensing. But why would that exorcist have this?"

("He must know about my existence. Though it's strange, I've been told throughout all my wielders that any records of me were wiped from existence. As if they were intentionally hiding me.") Oblethe spoke as Cassius looked down at his left hand.

"Hell even touching it with my left hand I can feel energies coming together. Like their fusing. It's strange."

("Indeed. Now that we have it however we have a bigger target on our backs. Especially now that they'll try to take that sphere back. I exercise caution from this point forward, Cassius. I'd advise telling the peerage about this.")

"About what?" Rias walked in with Akeno in tow.

"Damn you scared me!"

"Sorry about that, Cassius. Rias was wondering where you were hiding and heard you talking. "

He nodded as he showed off the sphere. It emitted an eerie energy that sent chills down everyone's spine.

"That weird screaming guy was carrying it. He seemed pretty distraught when I took it. He must know about my existence as well as this tool might be of use to me."

"You remembered him rant and raving about how I am cursed? How apparently you're all doomed with me in your peerage?"

"Yes and I deemed it utter nonsense. As far as I'm concerned, you may have been here a short time but you were able to save Issei in the nick of time. For that, as the master, I thank you, Cassius." Rias bowed slightly showing her gratitude.

"We're all a team are we? Might as well start working together...even if they're the biggest pervert in existence."

Rias giggled. "Very true. Akeno I would like you to take Cassius to his room if you could."

"Of course, Rias. Follow me, Cassius."

"I get a room now?"

"You're one of us remember? Besides you could use a place to stay."

"You know. Fair point. Also. I'm sure taking this means they must know about me and are gonna do what they can to get this."

"We'll keep you safe, Cassius. We don't leave family behind." Akeno said as she continued walking. Cassius slowly in tow as Rias looked onward. An eventful night coming to a close.

Hey look a longer chapter will some silly stuff as well as fights and plot for Cassius! What is that sphere? What does it do? We'll find out soon!
