Aurora, Nik and Elijah were making their way back to Mystic Falls. The three of them were driven by Nik sat in silence. Elijah saw his brother staring at the woman who sat in the backseat with her eyes closed.
Never had Elijah seen his brother more enamoured by someone than he was with Aurora. Maybe this woman might be the key to bring back the brother Elijah had lost over the years, with her presence in his life along with Henrik, maybe Niklaus will be the man he was supposed to be. The brother he loves and would be proud to stand by.
Nik parked the car in front of a gorgeous mansion painted in a pale-yellow colour with white columns. Nik led his brother and Aurora in, the house was tastefully furnished on the walls Elijah could see the paintings done by his brother, he had even painted a portrait of all his siblings including Henrik which stood on top of the fireplace.
When he heard a gasp, he turned to see Aurora standing in front of a painting, pointing at the corner where Niklaus had initialled his painting.
'Did you do paint all of these?' she asked, her awe clear in her voice.
'Yes, I did love. Did you like it?' his brother replied.
'Like? I love it. I have never had the talent to make something so beautiful, that is precisely the reason I visit art galleries when I can. I am in awe of the painters who can turn a piece of canvas into a masterpiece. You, kind Sir are very talented it is almost like magic.' she complimented him, still looking at Niklaus's painting of the Scottish Highlands.
She missed the blush that rose on Niklaus's face and she missed the warm look of wonder he directed at her but Elijah did not. Niklaus composed himself as he stood by her.
'Well love, do you want to see my painting workshop?' he asked.
'Yes! Let's go.' she replied, her voice filled with anticipation and excitement.
Nik took her hand led her upstairs leaving Elijah alone with his thoughts.
Yes. She would be good for him.
Nik and Aurora were still upstairs in the paint room, during this time Elijah took a bath and changed clothes, Niklaus had been kind enough to keep his room furnished and his wardrobe stocked with clothes of his preference. Suits, preferably Armani.
The hired help was tasked with cooking a large meal which the Mikaelson siblings have after a long time which will not end in daggers and threats.
Elijah sat comfortably on an armchair and made himself busy with a book as he waited for his siblings to come back.
It was almost nine when Nik and Aurora came down and within moments they were joined by Rebekah and the others.
The Blacks bid them farewell, leaving them to spend some time with each other and with Henrik.
For the first time in a thousand years the six Mikaelsons had a peaceful dinner, filled with laughter and happiness, and all Elijah could think was maybe they were not broken as they seemed, maybe all they needed was Henrik because it was something all the Original Vampires could agree on, their love for their youngest.
The next day was a very busy one for all, Aurora retreated far into the forest with Niklaus in the afternoon to find the spot where Henrik had been attacked a thousand years ago. She had vampires clear that place of all trees and vegetation without any magic as it might interfere later in the spell.
She would use the soil from the same place where Henrik was attacked to mould in it into a shape a body for Henrik. Nik had to go and meet their father at the Lockwood mansion where the Homecoming dance was taking place, he was accompanied by Rebekah and Elijah along with Draco and Sirius.
Aurora was in the clearing with Finn, who did not want to see his father and his death while Kol was fascinated by the magic Aurora was about to do. He had been a magical prodigy but his being a vampire took away his connection to nature. When Rebekah had told Aurora of this, she had planned something for the impish Original.
"Are you ready to see something spectacular?' Aurora asked Kol with a smile on her face.
'Hells yes!' He exclaimed.
With a smile she raised her hands, calling the elements to bend to her will. First came Earth, soil from deep rose, it was tinted red, she had called all the soil which had absorbed the blood from the wounds of Henrik, then came Water, it flowed over the soil making it malleable, at this point Aurora cut her hand letting her blood flow into the mound of soil which was taking a shape of a body, she poured a significant amount of her blood into the soil and then she called Fire, the earthen body caught fire making the hard, like what a potters oven does to clay, to extinguish the flames she called Wind.
All the while she was doing her magic her eyes glowed an eerie purple, Goosebumps rose on the arms of Kol and Finn. They shivered at the power they were feeling around them.
Aurora had sent Kol to bring her dinner and blood bags for the vampires as they would need after draining themselves of blood.
That left her alone with the eldest Mikaelson. She had almost no interaction with him. The oldest sibling always had an air of melancholy around him. It was as if he was perpetually in mourning, as if he missed something, he had no idea if it existed or not.
'Are you okay, Finn?' she asked in concern.
He was startled by her question; he had been lost in his thoughts.
'I am fine, Miss Black.' He answered not convincing Aurora in the slightest.
'Please call me Aurora and Finn you do not look fine. Is there something troubling you?'
Finn did not know what it was but something in him made him answer.
'I am not like my other immortal siblings, Aurora. I did not wish to live the many life times I have. I had simple wishes, a quiet life, a wife and a few children. When we became vampires, no one knows this but I had a flashback of my own life. I saw my mother sending away my elder sister away with our Aunt. She had lied to us all, even father that Freya had died of plague but I remembered it as clear as day. Our Aunt took her and we never saw her again. Over the years as vampires we killed countless people before we came to know about our power of compelling. We left no survivors as survivors meant our father could follow them to us. Now you give us something that my family lost a millennia ago and I don't know if I am powerful enough to survive in this new age.'
His words were full of sorrow and defeat as if he had no more wish to fight for his life.
'Is there nothing you wish for? A lover, a friend, a hobby or even an enemy?'
'I loved a girl before I was daggered. Her name was Sage. I turned her into a vampire, I hope she is well and finds me.'
'Well then tomorrow I will find her for you. Let it be my gift to you and Finn you have a friend in me, I know what it is like to feel the air around you chocking you and making you feel helpless, I will help you and be your friend. I hope you enjoy living in the new century as I wish for you to live and not just survive but really live and love your life.' She squeezes his hand in support.
Finn smiles at her and with her words he feels like maybe he would enjoy the new century.
They were then joined by Kol who passed a bag of burger and fries and a milkshake to Aurora. She finishes her meal and notices that it is almost eleven, the others will be joining them soon.
With a crack of air Draco and Sirius appeared in the clearing startling Kol and Finn. Within a few moments they were joined by Elijah, Rebekah and Niklaus. In his hands Elijah carried an urn with Mikael's ashes. His essence would linger around the ashes so they were needed to resurrect Henrik. The Mikaelson siblings surrounded the body made by Aurora. There was still a little time to midnight but the blood the siblings had to donate was a significant amount, so the five of them stood around and cut their wrists and let their blood flow freely and be absorbed by the body lying on the ground.
While the siblings were doing their thing, Aurora tried to get Henrik blessed by Nyx, she prayed for any God and Goddess who would listen to her prayers. She chanted their names one after the other, calling all of them, she did not leave any of the pantheon. She knew at least one of them would listen to her, she especially focused on Hecate as the mother of the siblings was a powerful witch, she needed her to bless not only Henrik but Kol as well.
She could not even imagine living without her magic for a day let alone a thousand years, so she prayed and prayed calling out names of her maternal family in her mind, with the sole purpose of finishing the spell.
Draco and Sirius watched as the air around them hummed with magic, the wind speed increased and the entire clearing which was clear of any vegetation now had a myriad of flowers and exotic fruit trees grew in great speed. Draco handed blood bags to the siblings to facilitate the flow of blood to be regular and Sirius checked the time, it was nearly twelve so Sirius took the urn of ashes of Mikael and placed in near the mound of Earth which was now gaining a resemblance to the boy he had seen a scant few hours ago.
Sirius's phone rang out to display the time, it was finally midnight. Aurora again cut her wrist and let her blood flow. As soon as her blood touched the now fully human looking body of Henrik, the air stilled. The entire area was now pitch black, even the moon's glow did not reach them.
While the Mikaelsons were wary of the change Aurora was not, she smiled. Nyx had heard her prayer.
Henrik's body rose from the ground it was wrapped in a blanket of darkness; the magic was absorbed into the body. As soon as the darkness lifted, a golden glow engulfed Henrik's body.
At that moment Aurora linked Henrik's spirit to the body, the golden glow pulsed around Henrik.
His body was now fully resembling to that of a twelve-year-old. As the golden glow faded Henrik lied down on the ground. Rebekah clothed him while Elijah held him in his arms.
Aurora had still not stopped her prayer as she had one more task. She now focused on Aunt Hecate. She asked her to return the gift of magic back to Kol.
With a gasp Kol feel to his knees, his entire being incased with what looked like violet flames. He did not feel any pain but his entire body was buzzing with an energy that was almost foreign to him. As the violet flames retreated, he stood up. He could feel his siblings staring at him with concern but he was too busy to feel the magic that was now coursing through every part of his body. He held out his palms and concentrated, on his palms were twin flames, they were a shocking violet color but for the first time in a thousand years he could feel and do magic.
He rushed at Aurora who had finally stopped chanting and engulfed her in his arms. He hugged her with all his might, making Nik, extremely jealous.
'Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will always be in your debt for giving me my magic back. For now, and forever you are my favorite person and best friend.' Kol said.
Hearing he had his magic back made Kol's awake siblings groan, they could only imagine the havoc he would reign now that he was twice as deadly as before.
'Why are Henrik's hair golden? He had brown hair before.' Elijah asked running his hands through his hair.
'He has been blessed by Apollo. He will gain his powers and some of his appearance will be reflected on him as well.' Aurora replies.
'Apollo? The Sun God?' Finn said.
'Yes. You people will be raising a very powerful teenager. I wish you all well.' Sirius quipped.
The Mikaelsons did not care for the powers their brother would come into, all they wished was that he would be happy and safe, if he had power to defend himself from the people who would harm him then it was for the better.
Wanting to finally rest after the day, the Black and Mikaelson siblings made their way home, all except for Aurora. She wanted to ward the clearing with now resembled the most beautiful garden. Nik waited for her, as she mumbled spells after spell, warding the garden from all except for the Blacks and Mikaelsons.
Never had he seen a person so magnificent, so transcendent. All the feelings and emotions he had in Chicago came rushing back. His wolf wanted to parade in front of her, he wanted her to pet him, to go on a run with him. All he knew was that he had to ask her out, lest he be late. She was the most spectacular person he had ever encountered.
'Thank you. For you have done for my family.' he says.
'There is no need, Nik. I loved to help you all.' she says.
'No, there is a need, you not only gave us back Henrik but you made Kol whole, he without his magic was like me before I broke the Curse. He was feeling like his essence was halved. So, love, thank you.'
'Well, if you insist Mr. Mikaelson, you are welcome.'
'I would love if you agree to spend Sunday with me. My family and I would like to spend this day together but I want to spend tomorrow with you.'
'Are you asking me on a date?'
'Yes. So, will you say yes?'
'Yes.'
With a kiss on her knuckles he vamp speeds back home after she apparated back to her house.
She had a big date tomorrow and something inside her told her that it would be the last first date she will ever have.
Hope you like this.
