Chapter 15 – Ciel's Despair – His Last Chance for The Masters!
"I can't believe that witch!" Ciel shouted in front of his comrades as they stood bewildered not knowing what transpired between him and The Masters. He groaned and shouted as he kicked the dirt beneath his feet and flung rocks at trees. He grew frustrated with every second that went on in that meeting. Every word that was uttered, essentially made his blood boil.
"After everything I have done for them?! After I have done everything, they asked of me? Because now he is the vessel of the Hollow Dragon, I am the villain? How dare they! How dare Reine get in the way of my plans!"
He was punching the tree trunk next to him he kept going for he was deep in his rage induced trance. He stopped when he realized when his knuckles started bleeding and riddled with scratch marks.
"That power, that power should have been mine… and of all people, Cassius was blessed with this gift he does not deserve?! I would be a better candidate. Yes. Yes." He mumbled to himself as his eyes darted around his vision. He was slowly acting deranged. His rants filled with frustrations of his misfortune, slowly were transforming into ramblings of a man gone mad. He could not help but let the slightest chuckle escape his breath. Something in him was about to snap.
Then his eyes widened with shock. He remembered something that was told of him long ago. Something that would hopefully give him his selfish desires of the divine power that he craves.
"Yes! That's right! He told me about something that can be done. What was it again?"
-flashback-
"Interesting. So, you mean there is a ritual to take away one's Sacred Gear? I must say you fallen angels are impressive. Granted, since you told me that only humans can be born with Sacred Gears, I don't see why you don't try to recruit them or at the very least control them in some way?"
"It's a lot of work, my friend. Honestly, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack to come across a mere mortal that not only has one at all but is willing to listen to someone with wings babbling about the supernatural." The man sitting across the table from Ciel had a coy smirk upon him. "It's easier to take what I need and be done with it. Like I could care of a disposable vessel potentially not doing what I wish for in my design. Why should we monitor someone else's power, when I can just take it for myself?"
-flashback ends-
"Yes. That is it. The ritual is my ticket to get in The Master's good graces. They only care for the kid because of the dragon. Not him. He never believed in anything. Not the dragon. Not even The Masters! He is so ungrateful. He doesn't deserve any power, useless boy let alone the mighty Hollow Dragon himself."
His chuckles grew into an infectious laughter. Soft in its beginning but over time spread to his cohorts like a plague as they joined in on the laughter. The realization for what must be done.
"The Masters will look at me and not ridicule me anymore. I'll be the one that everyone relies on. I shall protect the family and The Masters! Not that insignificant miscreant! Come! Everyone! This scheme shall be my greatest yet. Even The Masters shall have to acknowledge me and give me praise. We shall be the ones to bring The Masters' true vision and their desires to fruition. For Oblivion!"
"For Oblivion!" the crowd shouted in unison with all raising their fists in the air exemplifying their determination to see this through.
For they must kill Cassius and extract his Sacred Gear from him. What happens to Cassius is no longer Ciel's concern. Once he has the strength he craves, no one can deny him any longer.
"Come my friends! Let us begin!"
Cassius woke up early after waking up during Rias' and Akeno's conversation. He still felt very tired as he woke up and slowly got up around his room. He stretched his arms and legs as he looked out in the window seeing the sun starting to rise.
"I woke up early again didn't I?" Cassius mumbled still trying to get the cobwebs out his head.
("That you have, my child. I hope it is enough sleep for today. I wonder if anyone else is awake now.")
"Probably not. Anyway, I guess it's going to be a bit before anything is done today."
("Since we have this time on our hands, meet me, my child. We have something to discuss.")
"Alright." He said as he sat back down and closed his eyes.
He took deep breaths. He opened his eyes and was inside that familiar void. Oblethe appeared before Cassius as well as Chikara and Grimwald, two faces he has not seen in quite some time.
"Well, looks like everyone is here again. Is this something that is related to what we're talking about, Oblethe?" Cassius inquired the great beast looking up at him.
("Indeed, I believe that it's time you learned more about me and my history. Chikara and Grimwald are here to assist. For you know of these two already. They are the strongest Hollow Dragon Emperors in their own right.")
"Wait, seriously? Both?" Cassius was surprised a bit to hear that. He knew these were probably important throughout the time of Oblethe's existence but the strongest. This grew a new eerie air in the area as Cassius began to feel a bit tense.
"Easy there, my boy." Grimwald snickered with a grin. "Not like we can kill you now. We've both been dead a long time ago."
"It's as he says Cassius." Chikara spoke in a softer tone compared to Grimwald's harshness. "We are merely here to help you on your path."
"My path?" Cassius's look became puzzled. Trying to decipher what is being presented to him.
"Yes. You remember last time when we met what I told you? About your emotions?" Grimwald's looked through Cassius as a trickle of sweat trailed down his face.
"To be in tune to them?" Cassius was not sure about the answer, but he felt like that was the gist of it.
"The boy can listen. Excellent." Grimwald chuckled. "Me and Chikara here were the strongest in our own right. Although I will admit, there are…flaws with me and him."
"You see while Grimwald was buried in his emotions, acting out based on emotions alone, I discarded my emotions long ago. I relied on thinking how I could traverse through conflict after conflict. Sure, in the mind of Grimwald here, you could just wipe any conflict off the face of the existence. With me it was different. I always thought out every possible route. Every potential outcome. It became my downfall in the end, with the Red and White Dragon Emperor."
"I see." Cassius nodded as he stood there absorbing all this information.
"In the end, I too was careless, and they ended up killing me as well." Grimwald spoke somberly as he clutched his chest. He still felt upset about all of it. "See in our lives, we never came across many other vessels carrying pieces of Oblethe. As you know, he is not who he once was. His full strength was even a problem for Ddraig and Albion. In the end it took the dragons and all manner of being to contain Oblethe, cut him into pieces, and seal him inside the Sacred Gear. Your Sacred Gear."
Upon that, the colorless gauntlets wrapped around Cassius. He was not phased by this.
"In the records they were known as the Hands of Emptiness. These can suppress the power of others or in some cases erase them from existence. You seen this before." Chikara waved as it showed Cassius's point of view when Raynare first tried to kill him. The spear was disappeared with a wave of Cassius's hand.
"So that's what it was." Cassius nodded as he turned back to the two. What he saw took him by surprise for three light trails appeared before him. To the left was Chikara's path. To the right, Grimwald's. Then the path that was between the two before. It went straight to Oblethe.
"Your path, unlike ours is being paved for you. You have come across a unique opportunity to not only become the personification of power and knowledge, but you can repair Oblethe. Bring him back to his original form, change the world nay, the universe itself. Human, devil, angel or fallen angel. They will see to it, if they discover that Oblethe exists as well as your intent to repair him, they will stop you. We brought you here so no other ears can hear. If you are to go down that path, you must return to your home. Find the Mothers. Tell we send our regards. They'll understand everything."
"The Mothers? Wait who are The Mothers?"
("To answer that my child, we would have to return to your home. More answers are waiting for you there, as well as Ciel.")
"I have to face him, don't I?" Cassius looked up to Oblethe.
Oblethe simply nodded as a light broke out at the end of the middle path. Cassius looked onwards as he began walking towards it. As he took another step he looked behind and saw nothing but darkness. He felt uneasy but kept pressing forward. Whispers and mumbles began filling the area. Cassius could not decipher their words, so he kept walking and slowly woken up. He looked to see the sun rising more. Not much time has passed.
He decided to take a step outside for a breath of fresh air. He stood there in his thoughts thinking about everything that was told to him. He looked at his hand as it turned into a fist.
"Take my path huh?" he mumbled to himself.
Just then someone came up from behind and attacked Cassius from behind. It was one of Ciel's cronies as Cassius struggled to break free from the grip. More came in as they pinned him down as Ciel casually strolled on to the pile.
"The only path you'll be taking is to your death. Now you're going to come quietly. Refuse and I'll make sure to it that you and Lucille will share the same fate."
"Let me go, you psychopath. You just want to kill me leave her out of this!" Cassius shouted at Ciel with venom. Cassius sneered at the boy as he kicked him in his sides.
"Don't you talk back to me! Remember who raised you, stupid brat! Now come on! Get him up!"
The group picks him up as they begin dragging him out of the vicinity.
"So, what now? To The Masters we go?" Cassius said angrily, still trying to fight out of his grip as the group kept punching and wailing fists for him to stop.
"Oh no. We are not going to them. We're going somewhere special for you. Like I said, you're going to die, and then finally The Masters will see me like they saw something…" he gripped Cassius' throat as he looked down on him. Cassius continued to fight and struggled as he felt the pain from his neck being squeezed.
"When they saw something as useless as you. An insignificant little runt. I'm taking what I deserve, then they will see as a loved one." He lets go of Cassius's throat as he catches his breath.
"Wait you're telling me that this is all because you're upset that the dragon chose me, and The Masters don't love you? As far as I'm concerned, they didn't love me either so don't stand going 'oh woe is me,' and you say I'm pathetic."
"Say what you will. It will not matter when you're dead." Ciel smirked and cackled as they went off with Cassius.
Reine could be seen in the distance watching this from afar. She had a look of panic on her face.
"This is bad. I got to let The Masters know at once!" she said quickly as she made a magic circle and jumped through it disappearing.
Hey everyone! Me again! As always thank you for everything! I'm putting this here because I'm currently thinking up of another story I plan on writing. I won't go into details just yet but just know that it will be based on another series I enjoy and was inspired to do it for a while. I'll start that up when I finish the next section of Cassius's story! I don't want to work on too many at once. Need to keep a good spaced pace you know.
As always appreciate everyone favoriting and following this story! If you like to, tell me what you think. What ya like and don't like. What would you like to see? Any ships maybe *wink wink nudge nudge*
Take care everyone and stay safe!
