PROLOGUE
"Hello, and welcome to The World of Pokémon!
My name is Oak, your host for tonight's show! I am once again joined by my dear friend Mary from Goldenrod City and the champion of the Johto League, Lance!"
Cheers echoed around the room as the elderly Professor smiled gratefully. The pink haired woman beside him waved, whereas the tall, red haired dragon tamer simply watched the crowd.
"Tonight, I am excited to discuss the finer details of the newly separated Kanto and Johto League's currently being implemented at the Indigo Plateau, especially with thousands of new trainers set to start their long-awaited Pokémon journeys tomorrow!"
Mary turned to Oak and smiled.
"Of course, they've been waiting longer than most, ever since the laws changed."
Lance nodded quietly; the laws had changed years ago alongside the rise in industrialisation within the Kanto region. Trainers were now required to be at least sixteen before they got their official Trainer's licence.
As Oak dove into a deep explanation of the differences between the Kanto and Johto Leagues, back in a small quaint town in the south east of the Kanto region, a young woman watched the TV. It's small glow and chatter crackled throughout her living room. The woman's short blonde hair was tied neatly into a ponytail and her piercing emerald eyes scanned the pages in front of her. She quietly read a newspaper in her lap while a Meowth slept peacefully next to her on the sofa.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The woman flinched, being ripped out of her calm state. Her Meowth leapt up from its slumber and stretched, glaring at the door for being so rudely awakened. Unamused, the woman stood and went to answer the door. She pulled it open but was surprised to see nothing.
"What on Earth...?" She muttered, stepping slightly outside and glancing around.
However, her attention was quickly drawn to a quiet whining at her feet. Looking down she gasped as she saw two babies wrapped in a small blanket sitting on her door step. One slept soundly, while the other seemed confused by the intrusion of the cold evening breeze. The woman leant down and saw a letter placed carefully between them.
To Austin and Ashlyn, my children.
Gingerly taking the note, the woman quickly opened and scanned it, her eyes widening with every line. She took one quicker glance around her lawn before swiftly gathering the twins and taking them inside. Unbeknownst to her, a figure watched from afar, a deep frown written on his face.
END OF PROLOGUE
Hiya! Okay, so I'd firstly like to welcome you all to this story. It's kind of my own telling of the many anime stories I've read on this site. However... with OCs. Now before you freak out, I just wanted to say that... I think I'm not half bad at writing my own characters. To be honest I was completely okay with doing existing characters, but I feel like they've been done to death and I just... don't think I'd do them justice. I'm sure some of the will make an appearance though! ;)
As for the story itself, it's going to be mostly light-hearted and not too dramatic, for now. Who knows how I'll feel in the future! For now, it'll just be Austin and Ashlyn's journey throughout Kanto (and several other regions). Yeah, I know the formatting is kiiinda off, but I wanted to set this chapter apart since it's the prologue.
I'm sure you'll have more questions if you look at my profile and see the incomplete mystery dungeon book, however I do plan to either continue that or move on depending on how this goes! I wrote it without any plan during a time of my life that was insanely busy. I've got a couple ideas for it but we'll see where I can go from there (any further details will be explained in a future update of that book!)
One more thing! This will most likely be the only update for a while since I want to get into a good groove of writing and get a few chapters under my belt before posting anymore! I also want to just let everyone know that they should expect different lengths of each chapter. If I try to force myself to make every single one super long then I just think I'll see this as a chore. I'm going to write the ideas I have an then move from there, but I will split each region into its own book and each book into their own arcs/seasons.
So yeah! Ask any questions you have and I'll answer (as spoiler free as I can...) but until then, I'll hopefully see you next time!
Up next, Episode 1: Sweet Sixteen
