The Doctor and Rose finally hugged. Time and space and alternate dimensions had been overcome, just so they could be together again.
"You can hug me if you want," Donna said to Jack.
Jack laughed.
"No, really, you can hug me!"
The Doctor let go and smiled at Rose. "So, flying, eh?"
"I've been practicing," Rose said modestly.
"How far have you got?"
"Not as good as you." She couldn't help grinning. "I've never flown like that before."
"That's brilliant! Can you fly straight up yet?"
"Sometimes."
"Wanna show me?"
Rose smiled bashfully. She stood straight up and spread her arms. She jumped into the air and flapped her arms. She flew up, but started falling back down. She flapped her arms faster, but it didn't work.
"No, no. Not so fast," the Doctor said. He jumped up and grabbed her hand and held her up.
She stood still on the air.
"Speed doesn't matter. It's how hard you pump your arms. Not faster, just harder. Like this." He pushed his arms down once and floated higher. "Even though it's just air, really push hard."
Rose slowly lifted her arms and pushed hard. She floated a little higher. She pushed hard again and floated higher.
"Good! Good!"
"How come you taught her to fly, but you never taught me?!" Donna asked.
The Doctor took Rose's hand and helped her up even more. "Rose, remember when I said everyone has the ability to fly?" He nodded at Donna. "I think I was wrong."
Donna's mouth dropped open in indignance. The Doctor grinned and pulled Rose around the TARDIS. Rose grinned and flew with him. Donna gave Jack a look and he immediately stopped sniggering.
He looked up at the Doctor, flying in circles with Rose. "Hey, you never
taught me how to fly either!"
"Flying Captain Jack? I think I'm gonna have nightmares," the Doctor said.
It was Donna's turn to snigger.
The Doctor, Rose, Martha, Jackie, Mickey, Jack, and Sarah Jane watched in delighted surprise as the TARDIS materialized in the Vault.
"But that's . . . ." the Doctor said, unable to believe his eyes.
"Impossible!" Davros exclaimed.
Another Doctor appeared in the doorway, surrounded by bright light, holding some kind of device.
"Brilliant!" Jack exclaimed.
The Doctor flew toward Davros.
"Don't!" the trapped Doctor shouted.
Davros pointed at the Doctor and a bolt of electricity shot out of his finger, zapping the Doctor in the chest. The Doctor fell backwards and the device slid across the floor. He was stunned, but not badly hurt.
"Activate holding cell," Davros said.
The blue light shone down on the Doctor as he slowly pushed himself to his feet.
Rose heard the TARDIS door closing and pulled away from the human Doctor. She ran to the TARDIS, but it was too late. She watched, devastated, as it slowly faded away from her life forever. The Doctor approached and took her hand. They looked at each other. The Doctor pulled her into the air. She stepped up after him. He smiled at her and flew upwards. She followed him and began to smile. They flew away together, high in the air, hand in hand.
