Blu didn't know exactly how long he had been flying, his mind was too preoccupied with the thought of Jewel for him to even think. His wings were sore and tired, his stomach was growling, begging him to feed it with food, but he didn't have the appetite to eat at all.
The sun was already halfway down the horizon, it hid behind the clouds but its light still shone through, making the white clouds look orange.
It was the most beautiful sunset Blu had ever seen in his whole life, but he wasn't in the mood to enjoy it.
Blu needed somewhere where he could seek shelter for the night, but the only things he was seeing were trees, trees and more trees. God knows what creature could be lurking among those trees and his not going down there to find out.
Something man-made would be nice, but Blu must be delusional if he thought that he would find some man-made stuff out here in the vast woodlands of the Amazon rainforest.
Luckily for Blu, life decided to be good to him for once. In the distance, he spotted a building in a small area that was clear from trees.
Blu didn't question why there was a building here in the middle of nowhere, in fact, he was grateful that someone was crazy enough to build it here as that gave him a place that he could spend the night.
Blu landed on the roof and the first thing he noticed was that the roof was in complete disarray, piles of dead leaves littered the roof, muddy puddles of water covered the rest. It wasn't ideal but it would have to do
Blu navigated around the roof, looking for an area clean enough for him to rest. He eventually found a corner on the roof which wasn't at all clean, but it was still cleaner than the rest of the roof.
As Blu settled down, the moon rose and took over the place of the sun to shine light on the earth beneath it.
Blu was finally able to rest physically after a long day of flying, but he couldn't rest his mind. He kept thinking of him and Jewel and all the great memories they had made together.
Blu was the one who left her, he knew that it was for the best of both of them, but why does it still hurt so much?
It would hurt less for him if he stopped thinking about Jewel and started thinking positively.
After all, why should Blu put himself through all that pain and torture thinking of someone who probably didn't love him anymore? While he was here suffering, Jewel was probably back at the tribe happily dancing with Roberto celebrating that he was gone.
Blus' headaches badly right now and he needs to rest. Today was a bad day for him and hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.
Blu closed his eyes and tucked his head under his wing and soon he was fast asleep.
Jewel and her friends had been searching high and low all day for Blu, but after a hard day of searching, they came back with nothing, not a single trace of him.
They were all tired, they hadn't eaten anything for the whole day and Jewels' stomach had been growling at her for the past few hours, begging to be fed.
"Jewel, we should stop for the night, we are all tired," Rafael suggested.
Jewel looked at her kids and the rest, they were all panting from exhaustion and her kids were so tired that they could barely keep their eyes open.
"Alright we will find a place to rest for the night," Jewel replied.
Jewel scouted the area until she eventually found a hollow big enough for the seven of them.
They entered the hollow, it was dark and eerie but they were all too tired to care.
Carla, Bia, Tiago, Nico and Pedro fell asleep almost instantly. While Jewel and Rafael stayed up to discuss some matters.
They flew out of the hollow and landed on a branch next to it so that they wouldn't disturb the rest who were sleeping.
"Jewel, I know how you are feeling right now," Rafael said.
"You do?" Jewel asked with her head cocked as she didn't expect someone like Rafael who was always happy to understand how it felt like to lose someone you love.
"Of course I do, the same thing happened to me and Eva a few years back," Rafael replied with a smile on his face.
"Really? the two of you are perfect for each other, how did that happen?" Jewel asked as her curiosity built up.
"You should ask yourself, Jewel, you and Blu are also perfect for each other, so why did you guys break up?" Instead of answering her question, Rafael turned the question back to her.
Rafael was right, Blu and she was made for each other, they were meant to be together. But her mistakes had made a dent on their love until eventually, it broke.
"It was my fault that we broke up, I mistreated him, "Jewel replied with tears forming in her eyes.
Rafael shook his head and said, "That isn't the main reason."
Jewel looked at him in confusion and asked, "Then what is it?"
Rafael placed a wing on her shoulder and replied, "The real reason is that both of you were too cowardly to face the problem of your relationship, instead of facing the problem both of you chose the easy way out which was to end your relationship."
"I will leave you here to think about what I told you." Rafael patted Jewel on the shoulder before he flew back into the hollow. Jewel sat on the branch alone as she looked at the moon.
Come to think of it, Blu and Jewel were just like the moon and the sun. She was the moon and Blu was the sun. Her life was dark and empty just like how the Moon would be completely dark without the sun.
But when Blu came along, he brightened up her life and therefore gave her the ability to brighten up others' lives too. Just like how the sun gives the moon it's light, which the moon will then spread to the whole of the planet.
"Blu, Wait for me, our relationship isn't over yet," Jewel whispered.
Back at the blue macaw tribe, Eduardo and Mimi were still awake as they were both worried for Jewel.
"Why must she always go against my orders, why can't she for once listen to me!" Eduardo exclaimed in frustration.
"Eduardo calm down, you need to understand that Jewel is all grown up now and she no longer likes to be bossed around," Mimi replied with her wings on Eduardo's shoulders.
"What do you mean by no longer? it's not like I had ever bossed her around when she was young," Eduardo said with his eyebrow raised.
Mimi shook her head and sighed. "Just forget that I said anything, let's call it a night, we will search for Jewel tomorrow," Mimi said.
"Alright, see you tomorrow," The two said farewell to each other before they flew back to their own nest to call it a night.
