Disclamer: All characters belong to J.K Rowling! I am copying the actual text of the story in my own, I do not wish to criticize the amazing work of Ms. Rowling, but I love the idea of characters reacting to their own stories. I do not own Harry Potter in any way!
Chapter 2
Harry woke up that morning to an announcement over the school. "Hem Hem, all students and staff are required in the Great Hall by eight." Harry groaned and turned over watching his dorm mates do the same. Seamus he could see openly glared at him.
"What do you think the old toad wants?" Ron questioned. He had barely opened his eyes but was starting to drag himself out of bed to get dressed.
"Probably another one of her stupid decrees," commented Dean. Like Ron he was pulling on clothes but he looked slightly more awake, seeming he was more of a morning person. "All I know is that it won't be anything good. The foul toad seemed way too happy for my liking."
The dormates had all come to an agreement no matter what their views of each other, that they all hated Umbridge. So they made sure to call her the toad in every sentence that wasn't heard by the staff or the inquisitorial squad. Within the next hour the students of Hogwarts had all pulled themselves together enough so that they were all in the Great Hall by eight. Oddly enough the House Tables had been removed to offer purple cushions scattered across the floor. Some small tables had been scattered across the hall, and many had decided to take their groups to sit around one. It looked as if there were calming potions on the table, which only seemed to confuse Harry more as to what was happening. Harry, Ron, and Hermione, all pulled cushions to an empty table. Fred and George, along with Luna, Ginny, and Neville, joined them there too. After everyone was settled down, Umbridge stood. "Hem, Hem, Before I explain what is going on we have a few guests that will be joining us today." Harry watched Cornelius Fudge, Alastor Moody, Nymphadora Tonks, Kingsley Shacklebolt, The rest of the Weasley family (except for Bill and Charlie), Remus Lupin, Sirius (in dog form), and Madame Bones.
"Si- Snuffles!" Harry exclaimed, as the large black dog bounded to him. Harry watched as Tonks, Charlie Weasley, Bill Weasley, Molly Weasley, Arthur Weasley, and Sirius found cushions to drag over to their group. By far it had become the largest. Giggles were heard across the hall as they watched Sirius clamp his teeth across a cushion and drag it back stepping towards the rest of them. The rest of the newcomers took their seats by the rest of the staff. Then Umbridge stood up again.
"Hem, hem. You are all here today for the reading of seven books I have found. I assure you that every word in these books are truthful as I have looked into it myself. These books are about the life of Harry Potter." Silence followed the words, only to be cut off by Harry's yell.
"WHAT!" He snarled. Sirius and Remus took up the cry by growling.
"Now Mr. Potter, I assure you that nothing should be done until every book is finished. By my assessments that includes four books from the past, one from the present, and two from the future. We all know that you have been a liar, and this has just proven to be the only way to get the truth out." Umbridge's high voice pierced the noise. She seemed to be smirking with her words, all too pleased with herself.
Harry thought it over. "She said that no action would be taken until all of the books have been read." He thought. "If she doesn't I can just call her a liar and it will all backfire on her. But what about all the time that he and his friends had broken school rules? He couldn't go along with this if it would get his friends in trouble. But it would also prove to the entire school as well as the ministry that Voldemort really had risen again." Finally he came to a decision.
"Professors, if we read these books, can I be assured that no student will be punished for things that have happened in the past?" Harry tried to ask the question so that his friends wouldn't get in trouble. But so that measures could be taken to hold certain people accountable, and to get others out of trouble.
The teachers glanced at each other that seemed to be a reasonable demand, considering they were about to breach his privacy to an extreme measure. Eventually Mcgonogall answered. "Would a compromise of, no students should be punished for past actions further than three detentions work for you Mr. Potter?" Professor Mcgonogall tried her best to make her offer reasonable, but she also knew that there are some students that would need to be punished for their actions once they come to light.
Harry considered this then decided that he would rather have three detentions for his actions than not come to an agreement and get more. "That will do Professor." Harry tried to answer in a polite tone but was still finding it hard to keep his emotions in check.
"Then we must start. My plan is to read the books as quickly as possible." Umbridge's voice cut across the hall again. Her happiness at breaching his privacy, made Ron mutter under his breath, "Annoying toad," Before Hermione hit him over the head lightly and scolded him for saying those things when people could hear him. Harry grinned, while Remus snorted, as he had never heard the name before. Sirius was grinning as much as a dog could grin and he turned to Remus and started to look at him questioningly. Remus seemed to get the hint, because he smirked at the dog, and whispered "Later" under his breath. All the while Umbridge has continued to talk.
"Though there are slight consequences to the readings of these books!" Her voice rang out, seeming all too pleased with herself. "It seemed that the creators of these books have had another effect tag along with them. While these books are made with Mr. Potter's memories, it seems he will feel any physical touch or pain, while that part is being read." For a moment these words were met by silence. They didn't know that Umbridge could be this crazy, and some of them had been forced into having detentions with her blood quill.
Suddenly an enormous amount of noise rang through the hall. Ron and Hermione were the loudest of these complaints. "You don't know what you are doing!" Hermione shrieked.
"Yes! We don't even know all of what has happened with his unfortunate skill of being in trouble!" Shouted Ron.
"You could be putting him through a lot of harm!" Hermione shouted again.
Harry just watched the scene in shocked silence. He didn't want to relive any physical thing done to him. Especially not the end of the third task, which would undoubtedly be revealed in the fourth book.
Umbridge on the other hand seemed to ignore all of these shouts and protests.
"We will be taking turns reading these chapters so that no one wears out their voice. I suggest in order of seniority, though I will obviously go first." The teachers turned to look at her each with looks of fire on their faces for having to be a part of this awful reading. None of them wanted to be a part of reading something personal about a student. It was worse than looking through someone's diary. But Umbridge had been slowly taking over the school, and anything they did to go against her, would get them all kicked out. Even Snape didn't want to read the books. It wasn't as if he cared for the boy, but he believed Dumbledore about what happened at the end of the Triwizard Tournament. He didn't know anywhere near the full extent, and not even he was cruel enough to want Potter to relive that. But as no one had voiced immediate objections, do to shock, Umbridge continued, not wanting any to start back up.
