I hope that everyone is doing ok and that 2020 isn't kicking your butt too much. Anyway, stay safe and wear a mask.

Callie Torres, January 29th:

Callie had been thinking about it for a while and now she was sure. She finally made up her mind. It was a hard decision, but she knew that it was the right thing to do. Everything was ready, she even cooked. She just had to wait for her to arrive. She was a little anxious considering how their last real talk ended. Since that day they barely saw each other at the hospital exchanging polite greetings.

The woman called her before Callie did, telling her that she too needed to talk to the brunette.

Callie didn't have to wait long before the doorbell rang. She looked at herself one last time in the mirror before walking to the door.

"Hello, Kate." She greeted once she opened the door. The redhead looked even more anxious than her.

"Hey Callie" Kate replied. When she saw that Callie wasn't planning on moving, she cleared her throat making the brunette come back to her senses.

"Oh sorry" Callie said moving to the side to allow Kate inside the house. "Please come in."

Even though her step seemed hesitant, the redhead walked inside the house. "thank you for agreeing to meet with me" she said once Callie closed the door and turned to look at Kate with a small smile on her face.

"Yes, of course. I was going to call you when you did." Callie said. She looked at Kate wondering if what she wanted to do next was appropriate or not. Shaking her head and deciding to throw caution to the wind, Callie took a step closer to Kate. She took the redhead's hand in hers before blurting "I missed you."

However, the answer she got wasn't one she had expected. In fact, Kate couldn't look more uncomfortable, before slowly taking her hand out of Callie's and giving the brunette a tight smile.

Callie tried to ignore the tug at her heart and walked past the redhead to the living room where you could see behind her the romantic table she settled.

"I hope you're hungry" she continued not hearing Kate call her name. "I made your favorite" she added rushing to the kitchen.

"Callie" Kate said a little louder to catch Callie's attention. The brunette stopped on her way and turned to look at the redhead. "I…uh" she hesitated. Kate didn't want to do it, but she knew she had to. She swallowed hard before continuing "I'm not staying, Callie."

"Uh.. What?" Callie said confused.

"I'm not staying. I just came because I needed to tell you something. So that's what I'm going to do and then I'll leave." Kate said with more confidence this time.

"Oh, ok" said the lost brunette. "do you want to sit?" she asked pointing to the couch. Her hopeful look vanished when Kate just shook her head and stayed put.

"I just need to tell you something and I need you to let me." Kate started. "Promise me you won't stop me cause I know if you do I won't be able to go through it." She asked and Callie just nodded, letting the redhead continue. "I… uh.." she stammered "I think we should end this." She said and Callie was about to open her mouth to argue when the redhead threw her a look that made Callie close her mouth as soon as she opened it. "I know you don't want to admit it to yourself, but I did, and I know there's no point in us being together when you're in love with someone else. I gave you your space to think about it and I too thought about it and I realized that I deserve to be with someone who will put me first and love me as much as I love them." Kate stopped to take a breath. At this point the tears were threatening to fall but she tried to ignore them and continue. "I love you, Callie and I always will. But I know that I'll never be able to make you as happy as Arizona does, no matter how hard I try." This time she walked closer and took Callie's hand. "Look Callie, I'm setting you free. You are free to go chase the love of your life. Don't waste time being mad at her or whatever. Just go back to her. She loves you still and you love her. No one and nothing is preventing you from having your happy ending." Kate said wiping Callie's tears. "You deserve it more than anyone". Kate finished and this time a tear managed to roll down her cheek.

By this time Callie was full-on crying and she didn't fight it when Kate took her in her arms. It was then that she started sobbing. "I'm so sorry" she said through sobs. Kate didn't say anything and just held Callie as she cried. "I love you" she said to the redhead.

"I know" Kate replied breaking the embrace but still staying close and looking Callie in the eyes "you're just not in love with me" she added and when she saw that Callie was about to say something she continued "And that's ok, the heart wants what the heart wants. I don't blame you. I always knew what I was getting myself into." The redhead then kissed Callie on the cheek before walking to the door.

"Goodbye, Callie." She said with a sad smile before closing the door behind her and leaving Callie alone in her living room.

Once the door closed, Callie couldn't hold herself anymore and she fell to the floor a sobbing mess.

Arizona Robbins, January 30th:

For the first time this morning, when Arizona woke up, she woke up with this kind of weird feeling in her stomach, it wasn't butterflies, no she knew what those felt like, especially when she felt them for most of her life. No, this time it was different. She couldn't pinpoint it, but it wasn't a bad feeling. It almost felt like excitement but less strong.

She couldn't believe it, she was going on a date tonight, for the first time in forever. Well, it wasn't really a date, it was just drinks at the bar near the hospital. It was unexpected, really. She was getting her coffee where she usually gets it when the barista scribbled her phone number on Arizona's order and told her to call her if she wanted to go get drinks.

At first, she hesitated, but after giving it some thoughts and Teddy pressured her to call the girl, she realized that she had nothing to lose and dialed the girl's number on her phone.

Things with Callie were ok, they were settling into a routine. They would avoid talking about their feelings and especially about the night where they let their guard down, they just focused on being Sofia's co-parents. It seemed that Callie and Kate were doing better, and Arizona was happy for them even though she always felt that pinch in her heart every time she would see them interact at the hospital.

During that month, Daniel's trial happened, and he was found guilty of assault and battery on both Arizona and Barbara. The day the verdict was given, Arizona found herself being free at last and there was no better feeling. Her mother and her could finally move on and live their lives. Barbara finally found her own place in Seattle and sold the house she shared for so many years with her husband. She was happy to start fresh, however, it didn't stop the little sadness to be felt when the contract for the house was signed and she closed the door of the empty house behind her for the last time. Her new apartment wasn't far from Arizona's and she enjoyed weekly visits of her daughter and granddaughter.

Soon after that night Arizona started physical therapy for her arm and after a month it was almost back to normal. She was itching to get back in the OR and couldn't wait for her arm to be back at a hundred percent.

"Come on Sofia! You're gonna be late for school." Arizona called from the front of the door, keys in hand, and ready to go.

A couple of weeks ago, after she turned her second bedroom into Sofia's, the little girl started spending a few nights a week at Arizona's. They called it the mother/daughter bonding time. It took Callie some talking into but when she was faced with two pairs of puppy eyes, it was impossible for her to say no.

However, every time Sofia had to go back to Callie's she would hide or pretend to take an eternity to get ready because she didn't want to leave. This morning was no different than the others and Arizona found herself walking back to Sofia's bedroom and the sight that met her eyes was enough to break her heart over and over.

Sofia was sitting on her bed looking at a picture she was holding in her hands and with tears in her eyes. Quickly, Arizona walked to the other side of the room and joined Sofia on the bed. Looking at the picture she realized that it was an old picture of Callie and herself when they were in their 20's, both with the biggest smiles on their faces.

"Sofia, sweetie, what's wrong?" Arizona asked making the little girl look at her.

"Do you and mommy don't love each other anymore?" the little girl asked with a tear rolling down her cheek and looking back at the picture.

Arizona was at a loss for words to say the least. She never had deep conversations with Sofia, it was always fun and light. It was usually Callie who dealt with the heavy stuff. "I …I … why do you say that Sofia?" Arizona stammered.

The little girl looked at her with her sad brown eyes. "Ella, my friend at school told me that only parents that love each other live together and that parents that don't get a di- divorce." Sofia said with a little trouble on the word 'divorce' "did you and mommy get a divorce?" she asked.

To say Arizona was lost was an understatement. She was trying to think of an answer appropriate for a seven years old, but the longer she took the more distraught Sofia looked. In the end, Arizona decided that honesty was the best way to go.

"oh Sofi" Arizona said taking her little girl in her arms. "your mommy and I love each other very much." She started making Sofia stop crying. "It's more complicated than that. People that love each other don't have to live together to know that they love each other. If I don't live with you and your mommy, it's not because I don't love you."

"you promise?" the little girl asked lifting her head to look at Arizona.

"I promise." Arizona said kissing Sofia's forehead. "you and your mommy are my whole world". They stayed like that for a few minutes until Arizona was sure that Sofia was ok.

They stopped on the way to school, Arizona buying Sofia's favorite sweets.

Walking to the attending changing room, Arizona texted Callie that Sofia was at school and that she needed to talk to her. She frowned when the only answer she received was a short 'ok'.

She was still looking at her phone and didn't notice the person walking towards her until it was too late, and Arizona's body hit another, both of them stumbling backwards.

"oops. Sorry I-" Arizona said in her usual perky voice. "Oh Kate!" she exclaimed when she realized that the person she ran into was none other than the redhead. "How are you?"

"Hey, Arizona." Kate said in a small voice. "I'm ok, busy." She hastily added before practically running away.

"weird…" Arizona said to herself before going about her day.

Soon her shift was over, and Arizona found herself getting ready for her sort of date with the cute barista. She received all day teasing texts from Teddy and the more she was getting closer to the date, the more texts she received. At one point she just muted her text.

Not living far from the bar, Arizona decided to walk there. On her way there, without even realizing it, she started thinking about her first date with Callie. How they were too young to even go to a fancy place and decided to pretend they were in a chic restaurant in Callie's big backyard.

She remembers how Callie set the perfect table turned towards the beach. Having money had its advantages and Callie had the people working at her house bring them their food and pretend to be the restaurant staff. The girls had the place to themselves thanks to Callie's parents being on a business trip and her little sister spending the night at a friend's. The night ended with them sharing their first kiss and falling asleep in each other's arms.

She still remembers it like it was yesterday. That day she knew that Callie would be it. That there was none other. And yet there she was walking to a date with someone that wasn't Callie.

Truth be told, she didn't really want to go to this date. Even though she kept telling herself that she needed to move on, she just couldn't. She couldn't stop thinking about Callie and all the memories they shared. She couldn't stop thinking about how much she still loved her and how she would give anything to be with her again. She couldn't stop thinking about how sad Sofia was this morning, that her mothers weren't together.

Suddenly, Arizona stopped walking towards the bar and turned around. She took her phone out of her purse and sent a quick text to the woman probably already waiting for her. She apologized and said that something came up and that she won't be able to make it.

She didn't know if she wasn't ready to move on or to give up on Callie.

She just wasn't ready.

A few hours after she got home and after she had to listen to Teddy lecture her, Arizona was ready to go to bed.

She was walking to her bedroom when suddenly someone knocked on her door. She sighed and went to get the door.

Nothing would have prepared her for what she found behind the door.

"Calliope…"
