Chapter Twenty: Red, Yellow, Black and a Storm.
Jack sleep in his own bed that night of course he was sleeping on top of the quilt, just like Aster who was tossing and turning he could feel it, someone was playing around with time and being a Pooka he could feel it but he knew that however it was, was making sure that time was played with but the were going back and repeating time, the funny thing was who ever it was, was repeating class times.
Jack, being a light sleeping, woke to Harry trying to leave the dorm at four thirty in the morning, but once he realized there was no danger he fell back to sleep the same thing couldn't be said for the boy-who-lived.
The storm had worsted by the time the game came around. It wasn't just ran, it was the wind as well, Jack had flown though worse but the rest of the team were worried as Wood tried to tell the time he's usual pre-match talk, but didn't was anything to go by.
Aster watched as Red and Yellow dressed teams made it to the middle of the pitch, two of the 'nightlights' or moonbeams where by his head as Sandy's was with him for the match and Jack's with North. In this weather he knew it was fair game, for the teams but knowing Jack will to good as it was no different then flying in the Blizzard of 68'.
The shill of Madam Hooch's whistle was heard and they were off. Aster kept a close eye on Jack as he followed a Hufflepuff Chaser with the Quaffle and easily taking it when she passed it to another teammate. Jack dogged a Bludger as it was like natural thing for him to be flying in this type of weather and easily scoring, getting past Sandy, who looking more like him-self in the yellow robes, than the black school everyday ones. And that's how the game continued as, Jack looking natural flying in this weather not once being hit by another player or a Bludger. Unfortunately for the others not only the other team was hitting them but their own as well as the Bludgers. Harry having the not having the most luck with his glasses, and it was getting darker, as though night had decided to come early.
"He should really consider contacts." Aster said to North as they were sitting next to each other, North not wanting to be with the other teachers.
"OH good idea Bunny, should do that for Christmas"
With the first flash of lightning came the sound of Madam Hooch's whistle, the teams splashed down into the mud.
"I called for time out!" Wood roared at his team. "Come on under here-"
They huddled at the edge of the pitch under a large umbrella; Harry was seen wiping his glasses on his robes.
"What's the score?"
"We're seventy-five points up, Jack making the most scores" said Wood "but unless we get the Snitch soon, we'll be playing into the night."
As the Gryffindor team was talking about how to win the game Hufflepuff was doing the same, tho Diggory couldn't go off at the Seeker as he was the teams Seeker all he could ask, if Sandy could stop Jack from getting anymore goals.
Aster and North watched as the teams took off again. Two more flashes of lightning had passed before Aster noticed something that was worrisome. Jack was holding his head with one hand and looked unstable.
"North, something not right," Aster said not taking his eyes off Jack, as the two seekers skyrocketed. It all happened too fast, everyone felt it cold and depressed. Aster forgot about everyone except for the white-haired boy who dropped from where he was flying, were the Australian was standing there was now a giant bunny who jumped from the stands and jumped to catch the falling boy before he hit the ground. Aster turned himself so there was more impact on him than Jack. The slid across the muddy pitch a few meters. Noticing that the young boy still had his staff in his hand he gave a sigh of relive, before he heard screaming and yelling from the stands. He looked up to see another falling figure.
The headmaster stood up and cast a spell to slow the falling figure down, knowing it was still going to hurt the boy falling even at the decreasing speed he was at North had joined Aster on the pitch ground and jumped to catch the boy.
Two silvery animals were already in the air, a manta ray and a flying elephant.
Aster turned to North as he went to stand with Jack him his arms, transforming as he asked; "Well that's dreams and memories, how about hope and wonder join 'em?"
North's answer was pulling out his wand and calling his patronus, which was a horse, Aster's soon followed.
"Let's get them to Madam Pomfrey" Aster said to North just as Diggory stopped beside Madam Hooch, and Wood.
Harry woke before Jack and his friends and team mates soon gave him a run down on what had happened and that they had lost, but Diggory didn't think it was a fair game as two Gryffindor's had fallen because; Dementors were at the game, but the rest of the team and Wood believe it was fair game. After a discussion on how they could still win the Cup Madam Pomfrey came over to tell the team and Sandy to leave both Jack and Harry in peace. Fred gave Jack and Harry some parse on how they played and Sandy gave Jack a small golden coloured bag before leaving with the team, trailing mud behind them. Madam Pomfrey shut the door behind them, looking disapproving. Aster, Hermione and Ron were left with the two boys. Aster was made to have a shower when he brought Jack in and was told by North and Ana to not leave Jack until they came to see him
"Dumbledore was really angry," Hermione said in a quaking voice. "I've never seen him like that before."
Aster snorted, "Right and you've been here what three years, you've never seen him out of school, you only see what he wants' you to see."
Jack look at Aster with a sad look, "Please Bunny, don't fight" Aster looked back, "Not after what happened, please Bunny."
Aster sighed, if he was in his Pooka form his ears would have folded back against his head. He sat beside Jack's bed and crossed his arm. "Fine"
Hermione went on with the story telling of what happened; that Jack fell first and Aster transformed to catch him, and when Harry was seen falling Dumbledore cast a spell and that Harry had 'sort of slowed down' before North had caught him before he hit the ground, and that North, Toothiana, Sandy and Aster had made 'some sort of silver animals' to chase the Dementors away.
"Dumbledore was furious they'd come into the, grounds, we heard him –"
"And Professor Toothiana, actually I think Hogsmeade heard her" said Ron. "The weird thing was she was worrying about all of us not just those three," he said pointing to Jack and Aster. "North and Aster brought you two up before all that tho. Everyone thought you two were…" His voice faded away. Harry soon changed the subject.
"Did someone get my Nimbus?"
Ron, Hermione and Aster looked quickly at each other.
"Oh no" Jack said under his breath, he knew Aster. Something bad happened to Harry's broom.
"What?" asked Harry, looking from one to another.
"Well… when you fell off, it got blown away," said Hermione.
"Sandy went after it." Aster added looking down.
"And?" asked Harry.
"And it hit –it hit –oh, Harry it hit the Whomping Willow," finished Hermione.
Harry's insides lurched, as Jack looked at Aster with wide eyes. The Whomping Willow was a very violent tree that stood alone in the middle of the grounds.
"And?" Harry asked, dreading the answer.
"Well, you know the Whomping Willow," said Ron. "It –it doesn't like being hit."
"Sandy and Professor Flitwick brought it back just before you came around," Aster said, looking sorry.
Slowly, Hermione reached down for a bag at her feet, turning it upside-down and tipped a dozen bits of splintered wood and twigs onto Harry's bed, they were the only remains of Harry's faithful, finally beaten broomstick.
