Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Chapter 116

Author's Note: So this is a Rick and Jewel centerd. I know you all hate these. It may take me a bit to actually finish it since I can't seem to stay out of bed for more then half an hour at a time! If only I could convince Andrew Lincoln to come take care of me! Review please.

Rick smiled as he watched Jewel sleep, his hand tracing down to the small roundness that was developing. He moved down and kissed her stomach. "Hey Peanut, this is daddy. Wanted to talk to you while mommy's asleep."

Jewel tried not to laugh. "Mommy's now awake," she said.

Rick grabbed the pillow. "This is a private conversation mommy, cover your ears. I'll be back up with you in a little while."

Jewel laughed. "I don't think there's such a thing as a private conversation, I am the incubator," she laughed.

"Humor me, Mrs, Grimes. Serious baby and daddy talk," he told her as he kissed her stomach.

Jewel laughed as she put the pillow over her ears. "Better?"

"Much," Rick told her. "I love your mother, little one. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that you are going to have an easy life, because as much as I wish I could protect you from all the darkness of the world, but I can't. But, don't ever think for one minute that you are not wanted, not loved. You are a bright spot in a dark world. You are hope that good things still exhist. I can't wait to meet you, and as your older sister says you're part Grimes part Dixon, you're going to be a force to be reckoned with. So your job, your only job right now is to get settled inside your momma. Never know what's going to happen in this world, day to day, right now we're safe, so you just get settled inside mommy. Know that you are loved and wanted," he said as he kissed her stomach again. "I think mommy's been listening so I better go talk with her," he said as he moved up.

Jewel wiped her eyes as she removed the pillow. "Damn hormones. And damn you for being so sweet," she told him as she looked at him for the first time. "You shaved."

Rick grinned as he kissed her. "Last night after you were asleep. Figured it's the least I could do for our first anniversary."

Jewel rubbed her hand over his face. "Made it another year in this world, we're beating the odds."

Rick kissed her fingers. "Plan on keep beating them too," he told her.

"I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, if it's not the Governor….something else, someone else," Jewel said.

Rick kissed her. "Hey no worrying today Mrs. Grimes, it's not allowed. You are supposed to let me spoil you, take care of you today. So, no worrying about what if's. We focus on today, we can control right now," he said as he kissed her shoulder.

Jewel smiled as she touched his face. "You're amazing Mr. Grimes."

"No, I'm just a man who is in hopelessly devotedly in love with his wife," Rick told her as he ran his hand over her stomach. "A man who knows how precious each day is. A man who knows how important it is to tell his wife and children that he loves them everyday," he said as he kissed her shoulder.

"God I forgot what if felt like for you not to have a beard," Jewel said as she touched his face.

Rick laughed. "I forgot how light my face felt without a beard. How are you feeling?"

"Good. I haven't done this in almost seventeen years…God my daughter is going to be seventeen in two days. And, you might laugh, but actually got more now then I did back then. Definatley got more people that gives a damn. I'm not going to be suffering a couple beatings from a drunk old man," Jewel said.

Rick looked at her, as he ran his finger down her jaw line. "Your father beat you while you were pregnant?"

Jewel nodded. "A couple times. Daryl got me out, moved us into a one bed room apartment. He slept on the couch. He's probably the only reason the state didn't take Summer from me."

Rick shook his head. "When I was a Sherriff, I would answer domestic abuse calls and I could never understand how a parent could do that to a child. That's why you and Merle always had problems, because you blamed him for leaving," he said softly as he kissed her.

Jewel shrugged. "Partly, and partly that Daryl always followed him like a little puppy dog and he was so much better then that. But, push comes to shove, we're still family. Especially now. I know it's hard for Glenn and Maggie to have him around, and I know he's always toing a line between being an ass and doing what's right. I'm not going to make excuses for Merle, and I know Daryl isn't. If he causes trouble, we know they'll be consequences, hell, he'll be facing our wrath. I mean I did go down a roof on a rope to save his behind, he better behave."

Rick tried not to laugh. "Things that are not recommended for unborn baby to try as he or she gets older."

Jewel laughed. "Things that's not recommended for me to do again."

Rick laughed. "I agree. Definatley not something I would like you to repeat."

"One thing Merle doesn't want to do is piss me off pregnant. I get a bit fierce," Jewel stated.

"You aren't fierce now?" Rick asked with an arch of his eyebrow.

"Oh I get worse, lots worse," Jewel warned.

"I think I'm officially scared. If Walkers break into the prison and you are in a fierce mood, you can attack them, I'll be right behind you," Rick teased as he kissed her.

Jewel stuck out her tongue at him. "Just remember you did this to me."

Rick laughed as he kissed down her neck. "Oh I'll remember, Mrs. Grimes."

"I'm hungry," Jewel said.

Rick grinned. "I have breakfast handled. Carol's going to bring a hot lunch up and I'll go down and get dinner, but for now," he said as he got up.

Jewel grinned. "God, you're a handsome man Rick Grimes."

"I'm sure the scars just add to it," Rick commented as he laughed. He brought over a tray. "We've got a very rare can of fruit cocktail, a sixteen oz. can at that," he said with a grin.

Jewel grinned. "Now, how did you score that?" she asked as she took the can.

"Oh I've got my ways, but I'm not done yet," he told her as he produced a jar of honey. "Honey, I'm afraid that stale crackers will have to do, but peanut butter may help too," he said as he held out the jar.

Jewel grinned. "Oh Rick, you know how to seduce your pregnant wife."

"Oh then this will make you very happy," he said as he held up a pack of twinkies. "Now, with the risk of losing a limb, this I might have to ask you to share," Rick told her as he kissed her.

"I can do that," Jewel grinned as she kissed him and took the peanut butter out of his hand and laughed.

"Now how did I know that would be the first thing you picked?" Rick asked with a grin.

"There's just something about peanut butter that I crave when I'm pregnant," Jewel said with a shrug as she used her finger to dig into the peanut butter. "Mm."

Rick laughed. "Never thought I'd see anyone enjoy peanut butter that much."

"Didn't Lori have cravings with Carl?" Jewel asked.

"A couple, but I don't think she enjoyed them as much as you do," Rick said as he ran his hand over her leg. "Anything you need?"

"A spoon," Jewel said with a grin.

Rick held up a spoon. "Got it covered."

Jewel laughed. "I guess I can share the fruit cocktail."

Rick laughed. "I feel special."

Jewel shrugged. "It is our anniversary," she said with a grin.

Rick laughed. "I do love you Mrs. Grimes."

"I love you, Mr. Grimes," Jewel responded.
