Chapter 3: The plan
Morning had run it's course, the orange light of the afternoon sun splashed itself onto New York. The hustle and bustle which was a trademark of New York City Life, finally slowed. Everyone who had business in the metro station had settled in.
Loitering outside the train carts, conductors and other employees of the Yankees east station stood in wait for the "ok", which would allow them to finally proceed with their usual operations: transporting each and every in attendance to their undisclosed location. Voices and sounds from the multiple carts traveled audibly into the outside, while muffled, they caught the attention of some of those who remained outside. "Weird isn't it?"
"What?"
"We haven't gotten the ok to go yet."
"Eh, seems normal when you consider the situation. Boss calls us up and tells us, 'due to the circumstances in which this day must work within, all current schedules have been delayed and a new one will be reserved for today and must be carried out on a station wide, announcement-by-announcement basis.'"
"You remembered all that?"
"Had to, the damn thing rang all morning throughout upper Management's headsets."
"Yeesh, thank God I'm not a conductor yet."
"Hmp. Listen kid, by the time you reach my position, you stop caring about being told what to do. Reaching new heights in this job doesn't mean you stop getting bossed around, it's just that you get used to it by that point."
"Huh… ok, thanks for the advice, I guess."
"Anytime. Hell, there is a bright side. The best part of this job is having the power to yell at you guys!"
"That's not funny."
Throughout the afternoon the metro station remained empty of any civilian occupance, only allowing the occasional tardy passenger to proceed onto the property.
This entire operation seemed impossible to pull off. The general plan was: "Gather all that had come into our universe, and those who had engaged them (through battle or conversation), and send them to the Yankees 153rd street metro station and allow further instructions to be given out by the station employees. - S.H.I.E.L.D."
S.H.I.E.L.D. was the go-to enforcement group to call whenever unexplained and paranormal activities occurred. Of course they didn't come out whenever something "paranormal" happened, it had to have the potential to cause widespread panic and compromise to their society at large. The merging of universes definitely was one of those events. It was the third time something like this had happened, but in a different multiverse, meaning that the first and second times a merging happened, they were in two different realities. The universes that merged, remained merged and managed to co-exist since then. While this seemed like a promising result, which shouldn't cause any alarm, S.H.I.E.L.D. wanted to handle it much better in a more orderly fashion, allowing everyone to peacefully live amongst each other to discourage a civil war, as more than likely, unsavoury figures with malicious intent were brought along the others from the other world and vice versa.
The metro station plan was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s way to sort persons of interest and group them up with others, similar to them in specific categories. The idea was to disallow conflict and coups to arise by keeping certain people together and certain people apart, such as those with malicious intent, apart, and with those good of heart.
There was the elephant in the room of course.
Galactus.
S.H.I.E.L.D. was hoping, by successfully carrying out this plan, they would be able to gather the strongest and purest warriors together in order to defeat such a threat. Those deemed unsuitable for the job were simply left to their own destiny after the plan was fully completed. Those who proved to have ill will; however, were kept under surveillance until S.H.I.E.L.D. could truly discover their intentions. That was the plan of course, whether it was possible, remained in question. Miraculously, the plan was proceeding smoothly so far.
Author's note: Hey, longtime no write. I guess I really like UMVC3 since I recently fell back into it, which as a result, led me to play my team: Deadpool, Hsien-Ko, and a third character being one of many including wolverine, Frank West, or captain america. Chapter 4 is still in the works and hasn't been replaced, I just wanted to add a small chapter dedicated to helping explain the situation these characters are in, of course for the readers.
I also will probably publish my other Deadpool and Hsien-Ko writings. I'm a little hesitant since they are all just the different ways Deadpool and Hsien-Ko end up becoming a couple. I like exploring different ways of how the same story can be told so I often rewrite their love story in different scenarios and circumstances. They do all have distinct writing styles, so I might end up publishing them after all. One of which I wrote, keeping continuity in mind, which is hard considering each ending is or isn't a universe where that one character beat galactus. That story tries making sense of all of them and wrapping them together in one universe.
See ya!
