Five months after Governor's initial attack:

Jewel's POV:

Jewel sat down next to Maggie in the cafeteria. "Glenn is out on a run without you? Something the matter?"

Maggie shook her head and gave a small smile. "Nothing is wrong. How are you doing?" she asked as she touched Jewel's stomach.

"Good," Jewel answered as the baby kicked Maggie. "Peanut is telling you not to change the subject. What's going on why aren't you on the run? Maggie…you're…are you pregnant?" she asked as she lowered her voice.

"We're not sure, it's to early to tell," Maggie answered.

"How's Glenn feeling about it? I mean….Rick's reaction wasn't the best at first, but after Lori, I understood," Jewel questioned her friend.

"I think Glenn is scared to even think about it," Maggie told her. "But, I want to live you know?"

Jewel smiled. "Yeah I know, more then just surviving. I get it, trust me," she said as she rubbed her stomach. "Peanut wasn't planned, but never regretted it for a minute. So when can you take a test?"

"A couple weeks," Maggie answered. "You won't tell anyone right? I mean until I know for sure."

"Of course not Mags," Jewel assured the woman. "If you need to talk, you know you can come to me at anytime. Even if you aren't pregnant, if you just want to talk about the possibility."

Maggie smiled. "I know. Now, besides getting bigger, how are you besides?"

Jewel smiled. "Good, real good. Summer thinks the baby is a boy, Carl hopes the baby is a boy."

Maggie laughed. "Carl is a bit outnumbered in the sisters department. I remember when Annette was pregnant with Beth, I wanted a sister, Shawn wanted a brother. It was an ongoing argument. I don't think daddy cared one way or another," she told her.

"Just as long as the baby is healthy, right?" Jewel asked.

Maggie smiled. "Is that what Rick is saying?"

"Basically," Jewel said with a laugh. "Of course, Daryl and Merle are hoping for a nephew, want to keep the Dixon balance. We're even right now," she said.

"What do you want? I mean do you feel if it's a boy or girl?" Maggie asked.

Jewel laughed. "When I was pregnant with Summer, I thought she was a he, so my instincts are a little bit off," she admitted. "I really don't care one way or another. I just hope that it keeps going as smooth as it is now, you know?"

"Yeah, I know. Kinda just waiting for what's next," Maggie said. "Alright, let's not think negative, it's going good, let's not jinx it," she told the other woman.

Jewel nodded as she squeezed the other woman's hand. "Let's keep thinking positive," she agreed with the woman.

Summer and Daryl's POV:

Summer glanced over at Daryl as he was driving. "So what was this sudden urge for Uncle and niece bonding time?"

Daryl shrugged. "You don't blame me for wantin' to spend some time with my niece do you? We don't get a whole lot of time to spend with each other anymore. Kind of miss it."

Summer smirked. "In other words you want to know if Joey has done anything I don't feel comfortable with? Or if we've snuck out to the woods? Afraid you missed something?"

Daryl raised an eyebrow. "Well since I am such a damn open book, is there anything' I did miss?"

"No, Uncle Daryl. Joey's being a perfect gentleman," Summer answered. "Trust me, Uncle Daryl, if he wasn't, he'd be limping. You and Uncle Merle taught me well," she said as she looked out the window. "Watch out!" she yelled as a man appeared out of no where. "Wholly crap, he's alive," she said as she grabbed her bow and arrow.

"Is it going to matter if I tell you to stay your ass in the car?" Daryl asked as he grabbed his own bow and arrow.

"Would just be wasting your breath, we don't do things alone," Summer said as she got out of the car. "You're alive," she told the young black man.

The man gave a small smile. "I was beginning to wonder that myself," he said.

"You alone?" Daryl asked as he held out his bow and arrow.

"Alone for a while, was with a group for a while, and a group before that. Got overran both times. Lucky to be alive," he said. "Names Bob Stookey," he said.

Summer glanced at Daryl. "Summer Dixon, this is my Uncle Daryl. You some kind of medic?" she asked by nodding toward his jacket.

"Was, Army. Don't mean a whole lot now a days," Bob answered.

"Everything means a whole lot now a days," Summer answered as she turned her attention to behind him. "We've got company. Get in the car. Now," Summer ordered as she opened the back door and shot the first of the walkers with her bow and arrow.

Bob seemed to hesitate at the order as he glanced over his shoulder.

"Get your ass in the car!" Daryl told the man as he used his bow and arrow to take down another walker. "We aint got time for you to make up your mind," Daryl warned him as the younger man ran to the car and got in.

Summer shot one more walker before she slammed the door of the car. "We're going to need to find more bow and arrows," she said as she turned and looked at the new comer. "Hope you don't make a habit of taking that much time making up your mind under normal circumstances."

"Guess you caught me off guard," Bob told them. "Don't meet a lot of people now a days whose willing to stick there necks out for people."

Daryl looked at the rearview mirror. "It's what we do," he answered. "No one can survive on our own anymore," he said.

"Where do you all call home?" Bob asked.

"The prison," Summer answered. "Uncle Daryl's part of the council that runs the place. We just ask you pull your weight. Being a medic is useful," she pointed out.

"Never thought being in the Army would benefit saving me later on," Bob answered.

"It's a useful skill," Daryl answered. "More useful then some of the people we've got around."

"Well sounds pretty good, I mean better then being myself," Bob answered hesitantly. "The two of you are useful with those bow and arrows."

Daryl shrugged. "We're Dixon's, been hunting before we could walk. If my brother, sister and I hadn't hunted growing up, we wouldn't have ate," he said. "Taught this one before she could walk," Daryl answered.

"Keeps the family fed," Summer said. "Welcome to the family, Bob," she said.
