Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This
Chapter 121
Author's Note: Reviews make me happy. I am looking forward to the second part of doing season 4, but the whole pig flu skipped my mind. But I'm dealing with it! When I first saw the scene where Lizzie was naming the walkers' Summer screamed idiot stupid person in my head. She's now happy that she gets to confront her! Now onto our somewhat regularly scripted program.
Grimes Family POV:
Jewel rubbed her stomach as she looked at the pigs in the pen. "That one isn't doing to well is it?" she asked Rick.
Summer glanced over her shoulder as Carl joined them. "Hello sleepy head," she teased. "Do you think something's wrong with the pig?"
"You didn't wake me up," Carl told Rick as he joined them.
Jewel shook her head as Rick grinned. "Because I knew you were up late reading comic books with a flashlight," he told his son.
"What's up with Violet?" Carl asked.
Summer turned and looked at him. "You named my future bacon?" she asked with a shocked look on her face.
Jewel buried her face in Rick's shirt and burst out laughing. "I really wish we had a camera, the look on your face Summer."
Summer sighed. "How am I supposed to eat something you named Violet, Carl? I really hope that name isn't on the baby list name."
Rick laughed as he kissed the top of Jewel's head. "It's not," he assured his oldest daughter. "Carl didn't I tell you not to name them, they aren't piglets anymore, they're food."
Summer glanced at the pig. "You can't eat something you named. Now I'm not going to be able to eat bacon without wondering if it was Violet. Thanks," she said as she shook her head.
"I just thought until, well," Carl started.
"Until what? We butcher her and we eat her? You never name your food, that makes it to personal," Summer said with a glance at Violet. "She's not doing to well, is she? Maybe we should get Hershel out here to look at her. Could be something more then just a sick pig."
Jewel glanced at Rick. "We'll just need to keep an eye on," she paused then looked at Carl, "Violet, and if it passes to the piglets, we'll have to be careful."
Rick nodded. "I think you're sister is never going to be able to eat bacon again," he teased Carl.
"Oh I'll be able to eat bacon, I'm just making sure he doesn't name the food," Summer said with a roll of her eyes. "I'm going on the run with Uncle Daryl and the group to Big Spot later."
"Summer, you don't have too, there's other people that can do it," Rick pointed out.
Summer shrugged. "I know I don't have to do it, but I want to do it."
Jewel kissed Rick's shoulder. "It should be an easy run," she assured her husband.
Rick nodded. "Just be careful," he told Summer.
"I always am," Summer responded. "Don't go naming anymore of my breakfast food," she warned Carl.
Rick laughed as he looked at the pig. "Feel better Violet," he said.
Jewel laughed. "Don't encourage him," she told Rick as she kissed him.
Rick laughed. "Let's get to it Carl," he told him. "What are you up to today?" he asked Jewel as he kissed her.
"Spending some time in the infirmary, hanging out with Judy, taking a nap. Maybe bringing out some food to the two of you later on," Jewel answered.
Carl looked up. "Michonne's back," he said as Michonne led the horse through the gate.
Summer stopped and smiled. "Hey Michonne, welcome home."
Michonne smiled. "Glad to be home," she said as she held up a chocolate bar. "Don't be telling Carl that I gave you first pick of the chocolate," she teased.
Summer laughed. "He'll get over it when you give him the comic books, you know you found some," she said as she petted the horse. "Did you find him?"
Michonne shook her head. "Not yet," she answered as Rick, Carl and Jewel joined them. "Look at you," Michonne said as she nodded toward Jewel's stomach.
"Kind of hard not to look at me," Jewel said with a smile. "Welcome back," she said.
Rick smiled. "It's good to see you."
"Glad to see you too," Michonne answered as she went over to her bag.
"Can we catch up later Michonne? I'm going out on a run with Uncle Daryl, and he's going to want to be going soon," Summer said.
Michonne nodded. "Be careful," she said as Summer went off.
"Someone hit the jackpot," Carl said as Michonne took out comic books from her bag.
"No way! Thank you!" Carl said as he took them out of her hand.
"I get to read them when you're done," Michonne told him. "Found some peanut butter too," she said with a grin as she took it out of her bag.
Rick laughed. "You just became her best friend."
Michonne gave a small grin as she took out a razor. "If I wasn't then, maybe I am now," she said. "You're face is losing the war," she told Rick.
"I love you Michonne," Jewel said with a grin. "You staying around a while?"
"Just for a little while," Michonne answered. "This run Summer and Daryl going on, they need help?"
"You just got back," Carl told the other woman.
"And I'll be back again. I'm here, I should pull my weight, plus need to make sure Jewel's stocked up on peanut butter," Michonne said with a smile.
"I'll walk up with you," Jewel said as she went with Michonne. "Take care of the horse for Michonne Carl," she instructed as they walked up.
Mar and Jes POV:
Mar stood away from the gates as she watched the walkers' come toward it. "They're becoming more of a pain."
Jes looked at the other woman. "They're dead and they want to eat us, I'm thinking that's pretty much of a pain enough."
Mar shook her head. "I mean the way they are piling up overnight, it's taking a lot of man power to keep them under control. I haven't seen a build up like this, ever."
Jes shrugged. "We've got a lot more people around, plus not to mention the live stock, it attracts them."
Mar nodded as she went up to the make shift kitchen. "Hey you guys seen the build up on the fences?" she asked Daryl and Carol.
"I was just going to show him," Carol answered.
Mar laughed. "Not used to being some kind of hero and all the attention," she told Daryl as she wiped his mouth with her finger. "Had some deer."
"Watch it woman, I'm not Mitch," he teased as they looked at the fence.
"It's getting as bad as last month, and they don't spread out anymore," Carol told them.
"We're going to have to reinforce the fences, just not that one," Jes told them.
"But what's bringing them all up like that? I mean usually they spread out?" Mar said.
"Like I said we've got more people and live stock, attracting them," Jes reminded the other woman.
Daryl nodded. "We're like sitting ducks to them."
"They usually spread out though," Mar reminded him.
"I have to agree with her, this is unusual," Carol informed them. "We don't have a lot of people to spare for the run, it's taking all we can to hold them back."
"I can get Merle, Ridge, some of the boys and we can start reinforcing the fences," Jes responded. "You're taking Zach right?" she asked Daryl.
"You're becoming as bad as Jewel knowing where everyone is or where they are going to be," Daryl answered. "Yeah Zach's coming."
"I have a shift in the infirmary, but it's slow, I can do the wall," Mar offered.
Carol shook her head. "No need for that yet. Never know what's going to happen that you may be needed."
"Got to agree with her, Mar, we're good for now," Daryl told her.
Jewel smiled as she walked up. "Look who I found bearing peanut butter and a razor," she teased Michonne.
Carol and Mar laughed. "You just became her hero," Mar told her.
"Find anything?" Jes asked the other woman.
"No, no sign of him," Michonne answered.
"Can we not talk about you know who? I mean can we keep our focus on everything being alright for now?" Jewel asked as she rubbed her stomach.
"You've been reading to much Harry Potter," Daryl told her.
"So heard you are going on a run, I'll go," Michonne answered.
"You just got back," Carol reminded her.
Michonne nodded. "Now that I'm here, I'm going to pull my weight."
Daryl nodded. "Just waiting for everyone to meet up," he said as he nodded.
Summer, Carl, Joey's and kids POV:
Summer turned as she heard one of the girls from Woodbury as she was calling out to the walkers'. "What the hell?" she mumbled to herself.
"You still going on the run?" Joey asked as he joined her.
"Yeah, you?" Summer asked as she kept her eyes on the gate.
"Yeah, what's going on Princess?" Joey asked as Carl and Patrick joined them.
"Lizzie's naming the walkers'," Summer told them as she stalked toward them.
"That's the Dixon 'you're doing something stupid walk,' Carl said.
"We should go back her up," Joey pointed out.
"Summer can handle herself," Patrick told them.
"It's not Summer we're worried about," Carl answered as they followed her.
"Lizzie Samuels what the hell are you doing? Did I just hear you call that walker Nick?" she asked as she pulled her away from the gate. "All of you away from there now," she ordered.
"We weren't doing anything wrong," Lizzie told her.
"Not doing anything wrong? Lizzie, you're naming walkers!" Summer yelled at her.
"They had names when they were alive, they're just dead now. They're just different but they still deserve names," Lizzie insisted. "If you were to die tomorrow and we buried you, you'd still be Summer."
"Lizzie, if we died tomorrow, and we were buried we'd be buried by people we loved," Carl told her.
"Look, little psycho, they want to eat you, they are not just different, they are DEAD," Joey told her.
Summer glanced at Joey. "Cool it," she hissed as she bent down. "Lizzie, have you seen anyone die from a walker?"
"Yes," Lizzie answered.
Summer took a breath. "You're taunting them, Lizzie. You're not only putting yourself in danger, but you're putting Mika in danger, and the other children. Those walkers don't care if you name them, they DON'T think. The only thing that they know is that they want to eat you. I know it's harsh Lizzie, but it's the truth. You are putting everyone in danger when you do that. What happens if there's a breech? You aren't armed, you, Mika, David, they take you down, then they come and take everyone else down. You calling 'hey Nick,' isn't going to stop them, Lizzie. I know you don't want your dad in danger, I don't want my family in danger. Don't name them, Lizzie."
"They aren't pets either Lizzie," Carl told them.
"I don't want to see any of you down here again," Summer told them.
"Are you going to tell?" Mika asked.
Summer gave the girl a small smile. She liked Mika, who was totally different then her sister. "I'm going to tell not to get you in trouble, but so we can know what's going on. You didn't do anything wrong Mika. Lizzie is the oldest out here, and as the oldest, she has to take some responsibility for what she did, and what could have happened. You all need to go get ready for story time," Summer told them.
"Are you going to be there?" Mika asked Patrick.
"Yeah, maybe," Patrick answered.
"Go on, all of you," Summer instructed as she gave them the glare.
Joey watched them go. "That girl is a psycho in the making."
"But you don't have to tell her that to her face," Carl pointed out.
"Why not? She is walking a very short line between being normal and off the reservation," Joey pointed out. "I don't think we get the luxury of saying 'oh she's just a kid' in this case. Not when that kid was putting everyone's life in danger."
Summer took a breath. "We took care of it, I'll talk to Daryl and Carol, maybe talk to her dad," she said. "I have to admit, she gives me the creepolas. But if all she is doing is naming them, then we've done all we can."
"Let's hope that's all she's doing," Carl said as they started to walk away.
"We better go, you know Uncle Daryl isn't known for his patience level," Summer told Joey.
"Be careful," Carl yelled. "Don't open boxes or get shot!"
"Very funny," Summer said as she walked away with Joey.
