Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Chapter 123

Author's Note: Alright, Summer, please keep conversation with Father Gabriel at bay until later. One crisis at a time. Geez, you would think these characters' have a life of there own for some reason. Oh wait…they do! Can I say Season 4 episode one is a LONG one to write? Or maybe it seems like that because I really want to avoid the flu. LOL. Review please.

Big Spot Group POV:

Joey glanced around as everyone piled out of the cars. "How'd this place get left untouched?" he asked.

"The Army came and put these fences up, made it a place for people to go," Sasha told them.

"Last week we spotted this place, there was a bunch of walkers' behind the chain link fence keeping' people out, like a bunch of guard dogs," Daryl told them.

Summer glanced around. "What happened to the walkers'? They don't just leave for no reason."

Glenn grinned. "Give it a listen," he told the group.

"That's music, bad music, but music non the less," Joey responded.

Daryl glanced at him. "Sorry, didn't think to pack up on the good CD's when the world went to shit," he answered.

"Uncle Daryl," Summer warned in her best Jewel voice.

"Woah, alright, you sounded just like your mother, creepy," Glenn said. "We hooked up a boom box with two car batteries," he told them.

"Thought we'd have to come back with a bigger group tomorrow, but we got enough people now that we can grab a lot of shit," Daryl said.

"Hygiene items, soaps, first aid kits, aspirin, Tylenol," Summer instructed.

"Now you're just channeling Jewel, quit that!" Glenn told her.

Daryl shook his head. "Let's make a sweep, make sure it's safe," he told the group as they made the way through the hole in the fence.

"Spread out, keep in sight of each other," Sasha told them.

"Stay in pairs, make sure you can see someone else at all times," Summer added.

"Now she's sounding like Rick," Glenn said as he shook his head.

"Just means I'm learning from the best," Summer said as they walked up to the store.

Daryl held up his hand as Zach, Michonne, Summer and Joey walked with him. He knocked on the window and sat down. "Give it a minute."

Zach looked at Daryl. "I think I got it," he told the older man.

"Got what?" Michonne asks.

"Zach is trying to guess what Uncle Daryl did before the turn," Summer said.

"Been trying to guess for a few weeks now," Daryl told him.

"I'm pacing myself, one guess a day," Zach answered. "Summer's no help."

Summer shrugged. "Not getting in the middle of that one," she answered.

Daryl gave a smirk. "Alright shoot," he told the younger man.

"Well you're on the council, you're able to track, you're helping people, but you're still kind of being…surly," Zach told him.

"Oh this is gonna be good," Joey answered as he leaned against the building.

"Well this is a big swing, but homicide detective," Zach answered.

Michonne and Summer both started to laugh.

"What's so funny?" Daryl asked.

"Oh nothing, makes perfect sense," Michonne answered.

"Actually the man's right, undercover," Daryl answered as he winked at Summer.

Summer decided to go along with it. "He'd disappear for days, we didn't know where he was," she told Zach.

"Come on really?" Zach asked as he looked between the two.

"I don't like to talk about it, heavy shit you know?" Daryl asked.

Joey laughed. "Heavier then killing the dead?"

"Way heavier," Daryl answered.

Zach shook his head. "I guess I'll keep guessing," he told the other man.

Daryl smirked. "Yeah you keep doing that," he answered.

Michonne laughed. "We gonna do this detective?"

"Let's do it," he answered as he got everyone's attention. "Alright we go in, stay in formation for the sweep," Daryl instructed.

"After that you know what you're supposed to be looking for," Sasha said.

"Any questions?" Glenn asked.

"Was there a time you weren't the boss of me?" Ty asked Sasha.

"You had a few years before I was born," Sasha told him.

"Bossy little sisters are the worst," Daryl said with a grin.

"You better give me first choice on chocolate if you don't want mom to find out that you said that," Summer said with a grin as they went into the store.

The group did a wide formation and met back in the middle. "Clear," everyone said.

"Everyone keep there eyes open, things can go from good to bad in a blink of an eye," Summer said.

"Keep her away from any boxes," Glenn teased.

Summer glared at him. "You're never going to let me forget that are you?"

"No, probably not," Glenn said with a grin.

"Enough yakking', let's do this," Daryl said.

"You heard Mr. Detective, let's get this show on the road," Michonne told the group.

Summer and Joey's POV:

Summer went down the hygiene aisle grabbing most of the feminine products she could find as she put it in the cart. She went and grabbed razors and shaving crème. She pushed the cart to the other side and stopped when she saw Joey grabbing condoms and putting them in his cart. "Planning on some action with the Barbies back at the prison?" she asked as she continued to fill up her cart.

Joey gave a small laugh. "I'm sure that the Barbies as you call them would like nothing better then a little piece of me, but they aren't my type."

"Yet that's a whole lot of condoms," Summer pointed out.

Joey laughed. "Princess if I didn't know better, I would think that you are jealous," he said as he looked at her.

"Me jealous? Of who? Certainly not little miss oh my God my toes don't match my nails," Summer said. "Do what you want with who you want, no skin off my back."

Joey glanced around as he came in front of her, and looked at her. "Like I said, they aren't my type. To girlish for me, I kind of get attracted to the ones who hit me when I call them cute," he told her.

"You gonna call me cute again?" Summer asked as she looked up in the blue eyes of the young man.

Joey grinned as he put one finger under her chin and kissed her, softly at first then deepened it. He pulled back and grinned. "Nah, wondered what you'd do if I'd do that, guess I know."

Summer blinked as she tried to think of something to say, but before she could she heard a crash. "What was that?" she yelled to the other members of the group.

"We're over in wine and spirits," Zach exclaimed.

"What happened?" Joey asked as he joined the others.

"You alright? You cut or something?" Daryl asked.

"I'm alright, my foot is caught," Bob answered. "I was moving fast, man. Dove right into the drinks."

Summer handed Joey her bag. "You couldn't see a big display of alcohol?" she asked as she went over.

"Man you lucked out if this thing came down the wrong way," Tyreese told him.

The group looked up as they heard something from the roof, a walker dropping through the roof and got hung up on some wires.

Glenn came around the corner with Sasha as Daryl and Zach both jumped back. "Um yeah we should probably go now," Glenn told them.

Joey looked at him. "You think?" he asked.

"Bob's still stuck! We got to get him out," Summer told them. "We don't leave one of our own behind!"

"I got him, you go," Tyreese told her as Daryl moved over to help move the shelf off Bob.

"You heard them Princess, let's move," Joey said as he grabbed her arm.

Summer took a couple steps before a walker came down right on her foot. "Son of a bitch!" she screamed as she stabbed his head with an arrow.

"You hurt?" Glenn asked.

"No, bastard didn't get me," Summer told him. "Let's go!" she yelled as the walkers started to fall more.

"This way!" Michonne yelled as she took out a couple walkers' with her Katina.

Summer stopped. "Where's Glenn?"

"He'll meet us up front," Joey told her.

Summer didn't let him finish the statement as she ran around the corner. "Glenn!" she yelled as she saw him on the floor with a walker on top of him. "Not my brother you dirty bastard," she yelled as she aimed her bow and arrow and took him out. "You ready to stop playing with the walkers' now and get out of here?" she asked as she extended her hand.

Glenn took it and gave a small smile. "Thanks."

"Come on!" Sasha yelled.

"Formation, Summer to my back, Joey side of her, Sasha on the other side. Be each others eyes!" Glenn yelled.

"Stay out of the aisles! Close to merchandise!" Summer yelled as she took position.

Joey looked at her. "Done this before?" he asked.

"Had a bit of practice," Summer answered as she took out a walker with her knife.

"Where's Zach?" Tyreese asked as they came around the corner with Bob.

Joey grabbed Summer's arm. "No you don't get to go play hero a second time. Zach! Get your ass over here."

"SHH! Don't you know noise attracts them?" Summer hissed at him.

"I think that ship has sailed, Summer," Glenn told her as they all turned there attention to Zach as a walker grabbed his leg.

"No, no," Bob yelled as he went to move to help him.

"It's already to late, let's go! Now," Daryl yelled as he pushed the man in front of him. "Go go go!" he yelled as everyone ran out of the store as it came crushing down. "To the cars!"

Summer took a breath as she jumped in the car. "Whose going to tell Beth? Ridge and Ronnie?" she asked as she looked at Glenn, Daryl, and Sasha who had all jumped in the car with her.

Glenn sighed. "The three of us is on the council, it should be one of us," he said hesitantly.

Summer looked at Glenn. "No offense Glenn but if it was Maggie who didn't come back, would you want it to come from somebody who was just doing it because it was party of there duties? I know we're all friends, but I…should tell Beth. She is my best friend, and it would sound better coming from a friend."

Daryl kissed the top of her head. "My niece is growing up. I'll tell Beth, the two of you can girl talk later."

"It's never going to end is it? Us losing people?" Summer asked.

The three other members of the car just looked at each other without saying anything. Summer glanced out the side mirror and saw the other car following close behind.
