Chapter 127
Author's Note: Now that I've got this going, it's a lot easier then it was in my head. Like I said before, I keep forgetting I kept Axel alive. Now that I remembered, I found a good place for him, for now. Review please it makes me happy!
Mitch and Glenn's POV:
Glenn heard Mitch coughing as he passed his cell. He had been coughing himself and was heading toward Cell Block A. He stopped at the cell. "Mitch?" Glenn asked. "Hey Mitch, you not feeling good?"
Mitch looked at Glenn. "I've got it don't I?" he asked.
Glenn nodded as he went into the cell and coughed. "Yeah, so do I. We'll go into Cell Block A and we'll fight this together. We've been together since the beginning, so we just go in there and fight this together. This is what we do right?"
Mitch nodded as coughed. "Got to stick together right?"
Glenn nodded. "That's right. Let's go, we don't want to infect anyone else."
"Are you scared?" Mitch asked him.
Glenn looked down at the boy. He had grown up in the past two years, he wasn't a scared seven year old boy. He was nine, and had grown up like most of the kids that had survived. "Yeah I'm scared, I'm not going to lie to you Mitch. This is probably worse then we've faced before. I can't tell you that we're going to survive it, but what I can tell you is that we're both fighters right?"
Mitch nodded. "Yeah," he answered.
"Plus I look like I've got it worse then you right now. So you're going to have to take care of me instead of the other way around, right," Glenn teased.
Mitch smiled. "Now you're just teasing Glenn."
"It's what I do right?" Glenn asked. "I'm the half glass full kind of guy. If I lose that, then I know this world is going to eat me up and spit me out."
"Don't you ever just feeling like giving up?" Mitch asked as he coughed.
"Yeah, all the time, but we're not that kind of people are we?" Glenn asked.
"No, we aren't that kind of people," Mitch answered. "We'll kick this in the butt, just like we do the Walkers' and the Governor," he answered as they got to A block. "Is it true that this was death row?"
Glenn took a breath. "Yeah, it was Death row."
"Why does that not make me feel very confident?" Mitch asked as Glenn knocked on the door.
"Two more sick people," Glenn said as he looked down at the boy. "It's just another part of the prison, our home."
Mar opened up the door with a handkerchief on her mouth. "Glenn…Mitch?" she asked. "Both of you?"
Glenn nodded as he coughed. "Afraid so. You doing alright?"
Mar nodded as she let them in. "Yeah. It's just getting bad now. Come on let's get the two of you nice beds," she stated as she squeezed Mitch's shoulder.
Tyreese, Daryl, Rick, Carol and Summer's POV:
Summer held up a shirt to her nose as she entered the court yard with Rick and took a breath. "Karen and Ridge…"
Rick looked at the burnt bodies. "You found them like this?"
Tyreese nodded. "I came to check on Karen, I saw the blood, then I smelled them. Someone dragged them out here and set them on fire," he told them. "They killed them and set them on fire! You are a cop, you find out who did this and you bring them to me! Do you understand? You bring them to me!"
"We'll find out…" Rick started to say as he put his hand out to move Summer back.
"I need to say it again?" Tyreese asked.
"Tyreese, please calm down!" Summer begged.
"Calm down Summer? What if this was your mother laying here? Someone did this!" Tyreese yelled at her.
Rick stepped up to the other man. "I know what you're feeling but don't yell at Summer," he warned. "She didn't do this, we didn't do this. But we are going to find out who did. You just need to give us some time."
"Karen didn't deserve this," Tyreese told them.
"No," Rick agreed.
"Ridge didn't deserve this," Tyreese added.
"Nobody does," Daryl told them. "Alright man let's…" he started to say.
"Man I'm not going nowhere til I find out who did this!" Tyreese yelled at him.
"We're on the same side!" Daryl told him as Tyreese grabbed him and pushed him against the wall.
"Uncle Daryl!" Summer yelled as Carol watched.
Daryl held out his hand to motion he was alright as Rick grabbed Tyreese's shoulder.
"You need to step the hell back!" Tyreese yelled at him.
"She wouldn't want you to be like this!" Rick yelled as Tyreese tackled him. Rick threw punches as he got him to the ground.
"Stop it!" Carol yelled at him.
"Dad!" Summer yelled.
"Rick! That's enough!" Daryl yelled at him.
Summer watched as they continued to throw blows. She reached for her gun and held up in the air and shot it. "That's enough both of you!"
Rick stumbled back and looked at her. "Summer it's alright, we're alright."
"We can't do this! We can't fight among ourselves! If we do none of us have a chance in hell to survive! Tyreese, who ever did this, we'll find it and we'll take care of it. But turning on ourselves, beating each other up that's wrong! Sasha and Lexi both depend on you! Dad, mom's going to be worried more then she is now which isn't good for her or the baby! We're all going through hell, we've been going through hell! The only way to survive it is together!" Summer yelled. "If you think we agree with this Tyreese, you're wrong, you don't know us! Give us a chance!" she yelled.
Tyreese looked at her. "Yeah, I'll give it a chance."
Summer looked at Rick. "You need to go get that hand taken care of. Come on I'll go with you to see Hershel," she said. "Uncle Daryl you got this?"
Daryl nodded. "I got this," he told his niece as he watched Summer.
"She's becoming more of her mothers' child everyday," Carol told him.
Hershel, Summer, Rick's POV:
Summer leaned against the wall as she watched Hershel take care of Rick's hand. "He gonna be alright?"
Hershel nodded. "It's going to be sprained for a at least a week," he answered as Rick winced. "The cuts don't need stitches. And he's lucky your mother isn't here, she'd be giving a lecture about how he should have controlled his temper a little better," he said giving the teen a wink.
Summer gave a small smile. "Well I can do that if needed," she said.
Rick shook his head. "No that's alright, Summer. I think I've got the point."
"Whoever killed Ridge and Karen, they thought they were stopping this didn't they? But it's already to late. Mitch, Glenn and Sasha just came down with it from what Mar said," Summer said.
"Whoever did that to Ridge and Karen, no matter the reason, it was cold blooded murder," Hershel told Summer. "How are you doing?" Hershel asked Rick.
"It hurts," Rick answered.
"I wasn't talking about the hand," Hershel told the other man. "We just went through something terrible, we are going through something terrible," he told them.
"Everything we've been trying so hard to keep out has found it's way in," Rick told them.
Summer shook her head. "We all carry this inside us dad, so when something happens like this, it just makes it ten times worse."
Hershel nodded. "That's a pretty smart kid you got there."
Rick smiled. "Got a couple of them," he told Hershel.
"We've got to tell mom what's going on. She's going to be ticked if we don't keep her posted," Summer told them. "Think she'd want to hear it from you."
Rick nodded. "I'll go talk with her tonight, through the door," he assured Hershel. "Someone needs to tell Ronnie," Rick added.
"I will," Hershel told him. "We're getting everyone together that's still healthy later tonight. Thought you should know," he told Rick.
"I think I've done enough damage for one day," Rick told him. "My daughter had to fire a gun to get me to stop beating a man for wanting to find the truth out of what happened."
Hershel looked at him. "I've fell off the wagon before. You and Jewel were there. I didn't stand around feeling bad about it, I got back up. I had responsibilities and people to keep safe," he told him as he got up. "You got him Summer?"
Summer nodded. "Yeah, go do what you need to do," she said as she watched Hershel leave. She sat down in front of him. "You alright?"
Rick sighed. "Far from it," he told her. "Summer, I'm sorry."
"For what? For being human? I have to keep being reminded that's what makes us different from the people we met," Summer said. "I thought shooting the gun was better then getting in the middle of it, which mom would have done. I really didn't want a black eye from one of you," she teased.
Rick shook his head. "Your mother would have done it, wouldn't she?"
"You know it, pregnant or not," Summer told him. "We'll get through this, we always do. Who do you think could do something like that? To Ridge and Karen?"
Rick shook his head. "I don't know. I'm afraid to think that anyone here would do something like that."
"We saw rats down by the fence, we have a suspicion that it was Lizzie. But even if she did that, she wouldn't have the strength to do that….to drag them down and burn them," Summer said. "What Tyreese said about it was being mom…if she had been sick, if Carl, if you, Uncle Daryl, Uncle Merle, or Joey…all I could see was one of us laying there."
Rick kissed her forehead. "I'm going to find out who did this Summer. You don't have to worry about your safety, not from this."
"We've got a murderer among us dad. If catching some flu or turning into a walker wasn't bad enough, we've got someone murdering us and burning us like a pile of trash. I can live with a lot of things, but this…one of us turning into something like that, I don't know if I can live with that. I mean now we have to worry about that too?" Summer asked.
Rick hugged her. "Hey, we'll be alright. I'll find this person, I promise. I know I'm not a Dixon, but I'm not going to make a promise," he said with a smile.
"You can't do it alone," Summer told him. "We'll do it together," she told him. "You know mom's going to ask."
"Yeah she is isn't she?" Rick asked. "We've got work to do," he told his oldest daughter.
