Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Chapter 128

Author's Note: More people are finding my story! YAY! So excited. Thank you thank you and thank you again. Less than a week til Season 5 part B. The previews are giving me NO hope that Jewel's baby is not being born on the road. Grumbling to self and the writers of TWD. Don't they know that I have plans?

So this is a Michonne and Jewel centered one. Didn't start out that way, but they kept bonding and it didn't seem right to add anyone else to it. Please review.

Michonne and Jewel's POV:

Michonne sat on the bed with her back to the wall as she watched Jewel pace from one side of the room to another. "You're going to make a hole in the floor," she told the pregnant woman.

Jewel glanced over at her. "Why haven't we heard anything? They should have been keeping us posted. I'm about ready to go out there and see what the hell is going on myself."

"No you're not," Michonne told her.

Jewel glared at her. "Michonne, that's MY family out there. I just want to know what's going on. Rick needs me, Daryl and hell even Merle, my children….they all could be sick, dying and I wouldn't know. I'm stuck in this room like some grounded child."

Michonne got up and walked over and put her hands on the other woman's shoulders and sat her down on the bed. "If you haven't noticed, you've got a very important passenger with you that needs a little special attention."

Jewel looked at her. "Yeah, I've noticed," she answered.

Michonne opened up her bag. "I didn't want to bring this out just yet, don't know how long we're going to be in here. But I'm not above bribery to get you to calm down," she told the other woman.

Jewel leaned against the wall. "Michonne, I'm not going to stop worrying because you try to bribe me."

Michonne gave a small smile as she pulled out two jars of peanut butter, one crunchy and one regular, and she pulled out stale crackers and jelly. "Now I guess you don't want to this, so I can put it away."

"Don't you dare," Jewel said as she grabbed the crunchy peanut butter. "Where did you find this?"

"Elementary school a few weeks ago. Found a bunch, figured I'd keep some back for an emergency. This counts as an emergency," Michonne answered with a shrug.

Jewel looked over at her. "Can I ask you something?" she asked as she stuck her finger in the peanut butter.

Michonne gave another shrug. "If it means you'll stop making me dizzy with your pacing, sure," she said as she offered her a cracker.

Jewel took it. "Why did you offer to come in here with me?"

"Does it matter?" Michonne questioned back.

"Yeah, it does," Jewel simply replied as she ate the cracker.

"Why?" Michonne asked back as she watched the pregnant woman.

"I understand your desire to find the Governor. What he did to Andrea, what he did to everyone. You come and you leave, I don't question it. We know you are going to come back. I also get that you are a loner, trust me, I've been there. I've watched Daryl and Merle do it for years, I've done it for years," Jewel informed the other woman. "But you always come back, you're always watching out for my family. Got to wonder why."

Michonne looked at her. "You remember one of the first conversations you had with me?"

Jewel looked at her as she ate the peanut butter. "When you all got back from Woodbury? After rescuing Maggie and Glenn?"

"Yeah that's the one," Michonne answered the other woman.

"I told you that I'd do anything to protect my children. I might have threatened to send you out the gate without your sword," Jewel responded as she took another cracker.

Michonne gave a small laugh. "You did," she told her.

"So? What does that have to do with anything? Summer had talked to you before, so had Rick and Carl, and Hershel. Why was that conversation so important?" Jewel asked.

Michonne shrugged. "The way you did it. You didn't ask for anyone else, but for your children. You said it in a way that I knew you'd do anything for those kids, and that you were dead serious about sending me out that gate. I'm not sure if Rick would have done it, not then, but you would have. You wouldn't have done it for anyone else, but to protect those children, you would have. Guess I made the decision that I'd do what I could to help you protect them. Now that includes little peanut butter craving bump there," she told her.

Jewel looked at her. "You had a child didn't you? Before all this?"

"Anyone tell you that you are to observant for your own damn good?" Michonne asked.

"All the time," Jewel responded. "You don't have to tell me, it's not any of my business."

Michonne looked at her. "You not going to tell anyone?"

"Not if you don't want me too," Jewel answered.

"He was three, his name was Andre Anthony. He was my life," Michonne admitted.

"I don't have to ask what happened to him…I can pretty well figure it out," Jewel told the other woman as she squeezed her arm a little.

"When all this happened, my boyfriend Mike, his friend Terry, Andre and I went to a refugee camp. I went on a supply run, came back the camp was overrun. Mike and Terry were high on drugs, they weren't watching Andre, and because they were high they couldn't fight. They got bitten, Andre got attacked," Michonne answered as she kept her eyes straight but not removing Jewel's hand from her arm. "I was so devastated…I kept Mike and Terry as protection. Chained them up, broke the teeth out of there mouth, cut off there arms. They didn't protect my child, but they were going to spend an eternity protecting me," she answered.

"Michonne, that wasn't your fault….no way you should blame yourself," Jewel assured the woman.

"But I did, I still do," Michonne answered as she looked at Jewel. "I never told Andrea about Andrea or who the walkers I had chained were. When I broke into the Governor's apartment, saw the fish tanks with the heads, he had Terry's head in one. I thought it was better not to trust people, trusting people let you down."

"But something changed, even before you got here. You helped Andrea," Jewel pointed out.

"Did I trust her? She asked me the story about the Mike and Terry, she didn't know there names. But I didn't answer her," Michonne answered.

"You just weren't ready to talk about it. Trust me I know how that is," Jewel answered. She looked at her. "I was raped at fifteen, that's how I got Summer. I only told Daryl, didn't even tell Merle. Rick figured it out, then Maggie. Summer had heard me and Daryl talkin' one night when she was younger, I never knew she knew, not until I got back from Woodbury. Thank you for trusting me with this secret, Michonne. Carl and Summer were right, you're one of us," she told her as she gave a small smile.

Michonne laughed. "They've grown up so much since I met them."

Jewel nodded. "They shouldn't have too," she told her.

"No, they shouldn't," Michonne agreed.

Jewel smiled. "Well it's good that Rick and I have you around."

Michonne arched an eyebrow. "How do you figure?"

"Rick and I have to be the bad guys, we're there parents. Can't always be there friends, they both need someone to laugh with. Summer can't really come to us and boy talk," Jewel told her.

"Yeah I noticed her and Joey are making googley eyes at each other," Michonne admitted.

"She told me they kissed at the store, before everything happened," Jewel told her.

"Rick know?" Michonne asked.

Jewel laughed. "Joey's still alive isn't he?"

Michonne laughed. "Yeah he is," she answered. "Well, Summer's got a good head on her shoulders, just like her mother. For a first 'love' she could have done worse then Joey."

"Yeah, I know. But see that isn't going to make Rick or me feel any better," Jewel laughed.

"I guess I can listen, give that advice that you guys shouldn't be giving," Michonne said with a smile.

Jewel grinned. "And keep her and Carl in chocolate," she told her.
