Flug took 505 and Mascara with him throughout the mansion. Not only were his defense systems enough to repel a good majority of the enemy, but the mansion itself was an extension of Lord Black Hat. Should his systems fail, the mansion, with a mind of its own, could always do something to keep them safe. Whether it was to keep intruders in trapped rooms of torture, or twisting the hallways and rooms in a maze-like manner, Flug was pretty sure they'd be safe. He just needed to figure out who was attacking them.
It had to be the person posing as a client on the other end of the line. Whatever was happening, it was not good. He could hear his systems failing outside. The bombardment of explosive shells, the impact of debris hitting by standing buildings in the neighborhood. It was too much. As the three of them made their way down a hallway, he heard the floors above him break. One by one, it sounded like whatever, or whoever, was getting closer and closer towards them. He quickly ran the other direction with 505 and Mascara, just as the floor above them gave way and someone kept going down to the level beneath. They miscalculated, or must have not seen them.
Then. He heard a roar.
Demencia was taking a beating. When she was not getting uppercut by the boxer, she was electrocuted by the electric one. Who seemed to be wizard themed with a staff. If she dodged the sniper, she would be forced back into the center by the speedster. The rabbit no doubt ready to drag her back down. She quickly calculated her circumstance.
Three were armed. The Samurai, the Wizard, and the Sniper. The rest relied on their physicality alone. One from beneath her, two directly attacking her, one keeping her in check, one at medium range from her, and the last one in the treeline. She began to think of ways to counter them all. She was calculating all their strengths and weaknesses.
Rule 58 of the Villain manual. "When surrounded by multiple heroes, use their morals and strengths against each other." So she knew she had to keep moving in a way that she had someone in the line of sight of the sniper to second guess their location. Once she calculated where the intervals of the shots were, she guess where they were and try some thing. The rabbit, because they were under the earth, oh, she would save them for last.
Flug put himself between the two innocents and the white Lightning Tiger that appeared that jumped down from the floor above. And from the hole beneath flew out a some brute of a hero. All muscle, no brain. But it likely knew its objective already. "Stay back!" Flug said, as he aimed a plasma rifle at the brute. The tiger pounced on 505, as the brute lunged at the doctor. Flug shot a round into the eyes of the brute, staggering him and letting him dodge. There was nothing he could do for 505. But he knew the bear could hold its own. He was cuddly, cute, and VERY enduring. He switched his rifle to a grappling hook feature and zipped himself and Mascara to the floor above, running away from the muscled behemoth. Failing to notice a dark figure watching them the hallway opposite. A stealth hero.
505 was a pacifist, doing his very best to not attack the tiger. But whereas blunt force attacks did no harm to him, elemental and sharp ones did. And he found himself struggling to get out of the grasp of the electric feline. The desperation of failing, combined with the pain, forced the fight his inner violent instincts to protect himself. Eyes glowing read, 505 was getting closer and closer to losing control. Before ultimately snapping.
The heroes were very satisfied with ganging up on the Alebrije. Many of them had a personal vendetta against Black Hat Organization, but it was purely against her, the deadliest agent of the agency. The boxer had it out for Demencia the most. For she was Heavy Punch's sidekick. When an organization came upon them individually to offer them vengeance, they all took it.
Demencia was allowing herself to be taken out so easily. She was testing them all. She needed to see the extent of their abilities. The speedster was as fast as sound. She could calculate it, nowhere near as fast as lightning, or better yet, a bullet. The Boxer could likely break through concrete, but what hero couldn't? The Samurai was the most skilled, but not by any enhanced means, just peak human physicality. The rabbit was stronger than them.
Demencia let herself be punched, but she feigned the force of it, allowing herself to fly away from the circle, hoping the speedster would try to force her back. Which he did. With her quick reflexes, she stood up and enveloped the runner in her hair. Because they were moving so fast, it was unlikely the sniper even saw their movements. All they saw was Demencia wrapping herself up in her large green hair. The sniper unloaded a full magazine into her.
Demencia was tough, she could handle the shots, but it seemed the speedster didn't have a healing factor and when the bullets pierced her, they pierced him as well. Only it proved to be fatal to him. She dropped to the floor, still wrapped up in her hair, appearing like a cocoon. The other heroes fast approaching to help out the speedster. It was then that Demencia spat out her tongue at the wizard, the adhesive organ sticking to him and dragging him towards her in a surprise attack. Just as she caught him, she unwrapped herself, letting the dead body of the runner fall beneath as she dug her index and middle fingers into the wizards eyes, then disarming him and using the lightning staff to shoot at the tree line. Her aim was true and the bolt of lightning struck the sniper, instantly killing them as well.
She threw the now blind wizard down on the floor, their voice screaming, their body writhing in agony, unable to make sense of his surroundings. Three down. Three to go.
Flug was running through the hallways, with Mascara in his arms. The house unable to protect him from the brute breaking through every single room it tried to trap it in. It was as if it were an unstoppable force of nature that ignored the irregular laws of the house itself. The doctor's rifle had all sorts of features on it to help him. Whether it was to create a a solid mass behind him, a freeze function, a napalm ray, or a pulse blast, nothing seemed to work.
Hiding was impossible. The commotion, destruction, and rush of movements caused poor Mascara to cry in fear and shock from everything around her, so finding them would be easy. Turning a corner, Flug got into the living room with the green fireplace. He looked back, to see the shadow of the brute rounding the corner of the hallway. The mad scientist reached into his pocket to pull out the personal smart device that worked all of the Hat Sentinels within the mansion. "Sentinels, protect Mascara. Lethal mode." He said urgently. There was little to do in the way except wait for them to show up. He switched his rifle to pulse blast and just as the brute showed around the corner, he set it to full power and pulled the trigger.
It forced the brute back against the wall in the hallway. But it was undeterred. The recoil from the pulse on max setting strained his entire arm. But he had to hold his ground. He pulled it again, and again, and again. Every time, the brute pushing the brute back, but it steadied and braced its body for every consecutive impact, to the point where the pulse no longer pushed it back. The behemoth stood at arms length from Flug in no time.
Flug's arm was totally numb, yet in extreme pain. Yet he held his ground. He dropped the rifle, holding Mascara close to him as tightly as he could, the creature wound up its arm and delivered a punch against the poor doctor, who turned as much of his body as he could towards the punch that would shield the child from the shockwave. The fist was about the same size as Flug, and when it connect, a searing hot pain shot throughout his body as he was sent flying through the living room and up into the airplane hanger. Then, the brute was attacked by the arriving Sentinels. All of them on lethal mode, which had just what they needed to put this kind of hero down.
Without the need to worry about getting shot by bullets, lighting, or punches at Mach speed, Demencia was doing much better. She could now fight back effectively against the boxer, and easily dodge the seemingly slower Samurai. The only real issue was the damn rabbit who kept kicking her by jumping out of the ground, or dragging her into it. Rather than punching at the boxer, she went for the eyes and swiped her claws at them. Cutting them open, causing her to scream in pain.
At that moment, the katana pierced from Demencia's back and out her chest. She grunted, and pulled her head back so that the back of her skull broke the nose of the Samurai. Creating distance between them both. The boxer was swinging punches blindly, trying to decipher the sounds of Demencia. In turn, Demencia charged at the boxer, slamming her body and the blade into her opponent. Both of them falling to the ground, connected by the katana. The rabbit hero jumped out to lunge at Demencia, only for her to swing her fist and temporarily stunning the rabbit.
She then got up, only to be tackled by the Samurai from behind, both of them fighting for control of the blade. Demencia holding it by its sharp length, and the Samurai pulling the handle from behind her. Demencia snapped the blade in her hands, cutting through her palms, the pulling Samurai suddenly falling back as there was less resistance to pull. Only finding herself with a snapped katana blade. Before she could react, Demencia turned around and sliced open her throat, before being kicked back.
Demencia was hurt, even with her wounds healing. Having taken so much damage from multiple angles was a bitch. Her eyes then turned to rabbit who was trying to dig its way into the earth, likely to escape.
"Oh no you don't!" She snarled and walked over to the weakened rabbit themed hero. "Regresa aqui, maldita!" She said and pulled her back on the plain ground. Stepping on her back where her spine connected to her hips. Breaking her spine right then and there. Causing her to scream in pain. "Not so easy to escape with broken legs, huh, bitch?!" She shouted, grabbing one leg by the ankle, and stepping on the opposing leg and pulling. Hard.
"Aaagh!" The rabbit screamed, as bit by bit, tendon by tendon, her leg was being ripped out of its socket. She tried to dig right then and there when suddenly her leg was completely pulled out. Demencia laughing maniacally.
"Oh, we're not done." She raised the leg over her head. "I knew from the moment I saw your outfit, I wasn't going to stand you!" She joked cruelly and began to beat the rabbit with her own leg. "But then again, it seems none of you could stand to see me either!" She laughed, still hearing the groans from the wizard and the Samurai choking on her own blood.
The rabbit could only hope for a quick death it seemed. Though it became ever so unlikely as her head was being smashed by her own thigh. Demencia wouldn't finish her up just yet though. Throwing the leg to the side, she picked her head up by the elongated ears. Demencia was smart enough to know that heroes on their own would ever join forces unless they knew who they were after. And she had been very low key about her hits on heroes. So she knew that something was up about this whole ambush.
"Who sent you?" She asked, in a calm tone. She had to get that information before heading back. Before becoming a mother, she would have forgotten this part of the procedure in this case. Ask questions when you have an enemy alive. Motherhood had made her more responsible it seemed. Seeing an opportunity to still get out of this, the rabbit themed hero began to explain.
"We were promised revenge against you. All we had to do was kill you or keep you distracted..." She said weakly.
"Distracted from what?" She went right to point, pulling on her ears harder, causing a squeal from the hero.
"Something about an assault on a mansion...that's all I know..." She revealed. Demencia's eyes widened as she realized that without her and Black Hat, it was just the doctor, the bear and her daughter alone. And if this ambush was this planned out, who knew how well an assault on the island itself would be. She had to make her way back. She quickly yanked on the ears of the rabbit. Permanently crippling and deafening her. Demencia saw it fit as she rushed to the ship to quickly make her way back home.
Flug was panting hard from both pain and exhaustion. He could hear the brute being ganged up on from the Sentinels. He encrypted them to have all manners of methods to do away to brute force heroes. Mascara was fine. Still crying, but no physical damage on her. He tried to relax. 505 likely went into a blind rage and tore the tiger to shreds. Whatever else may happen now, he was sure he was safe. Until a cloaked hooded figured arose from the hole he was punched up from. He began to panic, but his body failed to react. He couldn't move. Only his arm holding Mascara was locked in place to keep her safe and close, but it could be pried easily at any moment.
And it was. The figure picked up the baby, and made its way out the hanger door of the plane.
"Stop..!" Shouted Flug weakly. But it was futile. They were already gone.
Black Hat had spent the entire afternoon surviving the client to no avail. The seemingly godlike person kept blasting him with the power of the sun, and he kept absorbing it into the dark void in his palm. He began to claw and strike at the client like an animal. Trying his best do away with then. This was the first time anyone had gotten the better of him in such a manner, but it hardly mattered as it was insufficient to kill him, as it seemed to be their motive.
Suddenly, the fighting ceased and the client paused, looking at the distance in the direction of the Island. It then turned to Black Hat and smiled.
"I'll be seeing you." It said before disappearing for good, Leaving Black Hat both confused and enraged. All of a sudden, as if it were delayed until now. Alarms in his watch began to sound off and pain from the house was being felt in his own being. Something wasn't right, and he quickly teleported back to the mansion.
What he found was a sobbing and bloodied Demencia and a traumatized and worried 505 tending to a broken and passed out Dr. Flug.
"Que paso aqui?" Black Hat seethed. Not at them. But in anger of what he suspected had to do with the client.
"Se la llevaron..." Demencia covered her mouth. The words too painful to even say. "They took her..." She cried.
Black Hat lowered his head and conceded to the reality. They may have all survived a terrible ordeal. But they well and truly lost.
I'm fine, thank goodness. But inspiration comes and goes every now and then. I will finish this fic, but I don't have a schedule for it. No worries as I do still have love for this show that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Don't know when I'll update, but hopefully not as long as this wait took.
