You put me in such an awful spin
Sakuno considered viewing and analyzing art as one of her favorite hobbies along with baking.
She had seen a variety of paintings, sculptures, and architectural work and enjoyed how the variety of artwork shifted in creativity from artist to artist. While she wouldn't consider herself a connoisseur, she liked to think that she had a deeper perception of artwork than the average viewer. At least, someone had told her that at one point. Her artistic eye is even reflected in that of her baking, which brought her confectionaries to a different level. From her successful business to her beloved boyfriend, her appreciation for art had brought so many amazing things in her life.
Still, there were those moments where certain pieces of art had a meaning, message, or depiction that left her stumped.
Right now, was one of those same moments.
She walked around the clay sculptures.
It was one of Deidara's new pieces, and to be completely honest, she had no idea what it was supposed to be.
The sculpture was human-sized, only a few inches shorter than her. It was made out of white clay and shaped like a teardrop with wing-like spread out as if it were attempting to take flight. The face, which Sakuno found to be slightly disturbing, had black, hollow eyes, and an open, elongated mouth. Overall, it was quite a confusing piece.
Sakuno appreciated Deidara's art almost as much as she appreciated Sasori's (something Sasori resented but Deidara delighted in). His artwork was beautifully simplistic yet meticulously crafted. Every one of his pieces showcased the heart that Deidara had for sculpting. Her favorite piece of his was of a large, clay, dragon which Deidara spent almost a year on. This was, also, the piece that made him a renowned sculptor.
She slowly walked around the sculpture a second time trying to get more of a feel of the sculpture. It felt like a mystery that her mind was trying to unravel and failing.
She sipped her champagne as she concentrated trying to fathom the art piece.
It didn't last long, however, as she caught a glimpse of a familiar blonde in her peripheral vision.
"Sakuno-chan! I've missed you so much!" he brought her into a hug. Sakuno giggled while patting him on the back fondly.
"Hello, Katsu-kun. How are you doing?"
Deidara pulled back from the hug before looking her up and down in a slight surprise.
"I'm doing well, but you look like you're doing even better. I know Sasori would think so too, un," Deidara waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Sakuno blushed and smacked him lightly on the arm.
"Katsu-kun!" she admonished. Deidara rolled his eyes.
"And how many times do I have to tell you to call me 'Deidara'? You're my best friend's girlfriend., which means you're practically family. It's almost criminal that you're still calling me by my last name," Deidara stated in a fake hurt tone.
Sakuno giggled.
"You're right Deidara-san. I'll try to call you by your first name more often."
Deidara grinned slightly.
"That's a start," Deidara seemed to consider something for a moment.
"By the way, have you gotten a chance to talk to Sasori tonight?"
Sakuno shoulders slumped slightly. Deidara winced. He knew what that meant.
"No, I haven't, unfortunately. I saw him earlier, but his granduncle managed to snatch him up before I got a chance to speak to him."
Deidara gave her a look of sympathy.
"Aw, it's ok Sakuno-chan. I'm sure Sasori will come looking for you eventually. I mean," he gestured to her, "look at you. How could he not?"
A smirk grew on Deidara's face as he nudged her slightly.
"I saw the look on his face earlier. It's not very often that he's caught off guard like that, un."
Sakuno put a hand on her face and groaned slightly, but she couldn't help but blush again.
"Deidara-san, could we please change the subject?"
Deidara laughed at her exasperation.
"Fine, fine, I'll stop. It's just been so long since I had a chance to tease you Sakuno-chan. I missed you."
Sakuno rolled her eyes. He, also, means he missed her praising his art.
"I have missed you too, Deidara-san. You and Sasori-kun have both done such a good job with this exhibition. I wouldn't be surprised if most of your pieces have sold."
Deidara looked smug.
"It's interesting that you say that. Quite a bit of our artwork has been purchased, including my newest piece."
He gestured to the puzzling sculpture.
Sakuno furrowed her brows.
"They…did?"
Oblivious to her confusion, Deidara smiled proudly.
"Yes. Even some of my patrons from Iwa traveled to see my newest work. This guy, Kitsuchi is from one of the wealthiest families in Iwa and decided to make a bid for this sculpture for his daughter. Apparently, she's a huge fan of mine but was heartbroken about me moving to Konoha. Her birthday is coming up in 2 months, so he wanted to give her a birthday gift. He paid quite a pretty penny for it."
"That's amazing Deidara-san. Congratulations."
Deidara rubbed the back of his head sheepishly with a grin.
"Thanks. I'm happy it sold."
He looked at her.
"By the way, what did you think of it?"
Sakuno froze before looking at him with slight shame.
"I think it's interesting enough, but it's so terribly confusing that I don't know if I fully grasp the concept," she explained honestly.
Rather than looking angry or offended, Deidara offered her a smile.
"That's exactly what I was hoping you would say, un."
Sakuno blinked twice before replying intelligently.
"What?" Deidara chuckled as he gazed at the sculpture.
"This piece is a bit more different than my usual work. Something had happened one day, and I was so frustrated that I just started sculpting without really thinking of the end result. Next thing I know, I had created this confusing piece that was born out of complete exasperation. The point of the piece is to convey those emotions: confusion and frustration. The face is set in a permanent scream almost. I hoped to bring the viewer into my world."
Sakuno felt relief course through her system. She thought she was losing her touch.
"People have actually approached me about this piece complaining about how confusing it was, but I'm only giving you this explanation because you're one of the few people who actually appreciate my art."
Sakuno was touched.
"I'm honored to be provided with such privileged information," Sakuno bowed her head slightly.
"It's no problem at all. Plus, seeing those snooty art critics trying to rack their brains for the meaning and getting frustrated when I refused to tell them was truly satisfying," the smirk on his face was wicked.
Sakuno couldn't help the giggle that bubbled out of her throat, and it wasn't long before Deidara joined in with a chuckle of his own.
Sakuno suddenly felt a hand on her lower back,
"And what exactly are you two laughing at?" a calm voice asked.
Tensing, Sakuno immediately looked up only to meet the smoldering gaze of her boyfriend.
"Sasori-kun," she breathed, visibly relaxing. Even through her dress, the warmth from his hand seemed to spread throughout her body. His proximity allowed her to smell his cologne, her favorite scent of his. It had been too long since she was able to be this close to him.
It made her realize how much she truly missed him.
"We were talking about how amazing my new sculpture is," Deidara declared proudly.
Sasori broke eye contact with her to give Deidara a dry look.
"I somehow doubt that."
Deidara sighed.
"You're right," he smirked.
"We were actually talking about how my sculptures are way better than any measly painting you've created," Deidara winked in Sakuno's direction, earning a giggle from her. Deidara always reveled in the fact that Sakuno actually appreciated his art, and it was even better that Sasori would get agitated.
Sasori's eyes narrowed. He looked down at Sakuno with a raised brow.
"You really think these half-assed attempts at sculptures are better than my works of art?" he questioned. Sakuno blinked before chuckling nervously. She was always caught in the middle of the two best friends when they had, what she liked to call, their "art tiffs."
"I think you both are amazing artists. The world has plenty of room for both of your art styles. I know I appreciate them both for different reasons, and so will others. Art doesn't need to be one specific, superior way, and that's why there are so many variations of art," she smiled gently at the two young men.
The young men simply looked at her.
Well, how can you argue with that logic?
Deidara was the first to break the silence.
"Sakuno-chan, you always know exactly what to say," he chuckled. Sasori just scoffed softly.
"I suppose that makes sense."
He shifted his hand so his it would be fully settled on her waist, pulling her closer to him. Sakuno knew her answer had satisfied him. That or he just wanted her closer.
Both were more likely.
Deidara then snapped his fingers as if remembering something.
"By the way, Sasori, did you consider taking the offers you received about that painting? I know you've received at least 4 last time I checked, un."
Sasori stiffened and Sakuno took notice. She looked between him and Deidara.
"Which painting, Deidara-san?"
Deidara sent a sly smirk in Sasori's direction.
"Oh, you know exactly what painting I'm talking about. I'll give you a hint," he pointed at her and said nothing else.
It took her a few seconds to realize what Deidara was talking about. Her eyes widened in shock as her face turned pink. She turned to Sasori.
"They've made offers for the painting?" Sasori grimaced.
"Yes. Too many, and they won't stop asking no matter how many times I tell them the painting isn't for sale," Sasori wasn't kidding.
He had a couple of people come up to him asking to purchase "My Muse, My Love." Although, it wasn't for sale, people kept raising the price that they were willing to pay for it. As much as Sasori loved having his artwork purchased, this is one piece he refused to part ways with. What made it worse was that most of the offers were from men. He knew the painting might get some attention from the male gaze but not this much. Sasori underestimated how much intimacy and passion he instilled in the painting. He refused to have any of those potential buyers defile it in any way. Besides, he wanted it to hang in his home, not anyone else's.
The painting was of the woman he loved for crying out loud. Could he be blamed for not wanting to allow someone else to have it?
Sakuno placed a gentle hand on his chest.
"Are you sure you're ok with that, Sasori-kun? I don't want to prevent you from selling any of your paintings. I know we talked about that painting in particular, but that is part of the reason why you're having this exhibition in the first place."
Sasori smiled. She was continually worried about him and didn't want to inhibit him from doing things that were necessary for his work. He appreciated that about her, but it did frustrate him when she did it at the cost of her own comfort.
He gripped her hand that was on his chest, kissing it.
"It's ok. It's not something I want them to own anyway. It would be better if the painting remained in my possession anyway. I can hang it on one of my walls, say on the wall over my bed."
His eyes darkened. She inhaled sharply at the intensity.
"While I'm recreating that scene over and over again," there was a tone to his voice Sakuno recognized. She suppressed a shiver and resisted the urge to press her thighs together to alleviate the ache that seemed to develop. She wondered if he knew how much of an effect he had on her by just talking to her this way.
Deidara cleared his throat uncomfortably, breaking the tension that seemed to descend on the couple.
"As lovely as this is, we have to get ready to shut everything down, Sasori. The exhibition will be ending soon, and we have to make sure everything is cleared out before we leave."
Sasori glanced at him and nodded. "Go ahead and tell everyone to start taking any unpurchased pieces down and wrap up the pieces that have been purchased. We need to make sure that those who plan to go home with the pieces they bid on tonight receive them. I'll catch up so we can see what is left before we pack everything up properly."
Deidara nodded. He then winked at the blushing Sakuno and began walking towards the back of the building.
Sasori looked back down at her and wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her even closer to him. It was a more intimate position to be in, but, thankfully, there was not a lot of people around to see them.
He leaned down to whisper into her ear. "It might take a little while, but I'm going to come get you later, ok?"
His warm breath caressed the shell of her ear. Sakuno didn't trust her voice so she nodded.
He placed a light kiss on her forehead and headed in the direction that Deidara went.
Sakuno placed a hand on her chest trying to steady her heartbeat. There were dark promises within his words that she knew he intended to keep. She took a deep breath and drained her flute of champagne.
Sakuno couldn't help the feeling of excitement, but she still felt slightly nervous.
That wouldn't do.
Looking around, she noticed a server with a lone full flute of champagne on his tray. She caught his attention and switched her empty class out will the full one.
She started to sip champagne more quickly out of the glass than she usually did when receiving a fresh drink. She would definitely need to knock the edge off and develop a bit more courage before Sasori finds her later.
Sakuno could only hope he would be open to her coming home with him.
Her mind flashed back to the look in his eyes.
She felt a chill of anticipation creep up her spine.
She couldn't wait.
A headache was starting to form in Sasori's temples.
They had managed to give most of the patrons their purchased artwork. The other few patrons decided to have it delivered because they either lived far away or didn't have the means to take it with them. Overall, most of their pieces had been purchased and Deidara and himself met their respective set goals for the night.
That had been the easy part.
While packing up the unpurchased artwork, one of the clumsy movers had dropped one of Deidara's sculptures by accident. Thankfully, the sculpture didn't break, but that didn't stop Deidara from verballing accosting the poor young man.
Sasori understood why Deidara was so pissed off. After all, what artist didn't want his artwork to be handled with care? Honestly, he couldn't say that he would do the same thing himself. Still, it took so much energy to restrain Deidara back from actually putting his hands on someone. The mover was lucky the sculpture wasn't damaged. He doubted he would've been able to stop Deidara if the sculpture had actually been broken. The last thing Deidara needed was to have his reputation tarnished from beating up some random mover.
Now he was standing outside, behind the museum, with a fuming Deidara trying to make sure that his friend stays calm.
"He's lucky I didn't break his jaw, un."
Sasori pinched the bridge of his nose, his suit jacket handing over his arm. The exhibition was over, and everyone was pretty much gone so there wasn't any need to keep it on.
"Then he would've pressed assault charges and sued you. That's the quickest way to end your art career especially since you're trying to start a new one in Konoha."
Deidara scoffed from his sitting position on the stairs.
"You say that as if I don't already know that."
"You acted as if you didn't realize that, while you were trying to push past me to get to him." Deidara gave him a pointed look.
"Can you really blame me?"
"No, I can't, but you need to remember to keep your temper in check. No one wants to work with a temperamental artist that hasn't even established himself in his surroundings."
Deidara was known for his temper, but it was even worse when it came to his art. His own temper and Deidara's temper clashed from time to time, and they actually physically fought each other when they were in college. Despite what Deidara seemed to believe, Sasori knew he won that fight.
Deidara deflated leaning his elbows against his knees.
"Yeah, I know. I'll keep that in mind next someone accidentally drops one of my sculptures," he grumbled. Sasori rolled his eyes.
"Anyway," Sasori stressed the word attempting to change the subject, "let's focus more on how good this night turned out. How many pieces did you sell, Deidara?"
The sculptor's face brightened. "All of them except two, but I'm nonetheless satisfied, un. I even had someone ask for a commission. They're going to send me a few details later."
Deidara raised a curious brow in Sasori's direction. "How about you?"
Sasori smirked arrogantly.
"All of the pieces that were for sale."
Deidara openly gaped. "You're a dirty fucking liar."
Sasori huffed.
"What reason would I have to lie? To keep up with you? Oh please."
Deidara's eyes narrowed into slits. He knew Sasori was right. He wouldn't lie about his art. It was akin to blasphemy in the art world.
"Hm, fine. Were you able to get any commissions?"
Sasori had a thoughtful look for a second.
"My granduncle plans on commissioning a piece. I had two other people ask to commission as well. So that's three total I suppose."
Deidara grumbled to himself. Sasori smirked in triumph. They were still competitive even when it came to the business side art despite this being a joint venture.
Deidara sighed. "I hate to admit that I'm slightly jealous, but" he held up a finger resolutely, "I will sell the rest of my items and get more commissions before you know it."
Putting his finger down, he then mirrored Sasori's smirk.
"I gotta hand it to you, though, Sasori. This exhibition ended up being a great idea. All of the time we spent stressing ."
Deidara stood and brushed himself off. He reached out his hand to Sasori for a handshake.
"We should do this again one day. Hell, maybe an event that's even bigger than this, un."
Sasori looked down at Deidara's hand for a second. He chuckled and gripped Deidara's hand firmly.
"Sounds like a plan."
"Good. Now, how about you go head on home? I can take care of everything here."
Sasori raised an eyebrow.
"Excuse me?" Deidara clasped his shoulder fondly.
"You heard me. You were up earlier than me and have been running around all day trying to make sure the exhibition went off without a hitch. You should go home and get some rest."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Deidara made a noise of frustration.
"Of course, I am. What? You don't trust that your best friend is able to take care of things himself?"
Sasori was wary. It's not that he didn't trust Deidara. Far from it actually. Deidara was one of the very few people he did place his trust in. He just preferred to make sure things were taken care of and done properly himself before leaving. When it came to taking care of business, Sasori was always the type to be the first one to come and the last one to leave.
Deidara continued without giving Sasori a chance to reply.
"Look, there isn't much left to take care of. All of the art is placed in the truck and the display area is almost fully clean. The staff and movers have been paid. The museum curator is here to check up behind us and to take the keys."
Sasori mulled over Deidara's words. He had a point.
"Besides," Deidara drawled, "I'm pretty sure you don't want to keep Sakuno-chan waiting any longer."
Sasori glared at him as he felt his headache trying to make a comeback.
"Don't give me that look. Admit it, un. You've been crankier and more stressed than usual and it's not just because of the exhibition. It's because you haven't been able to see her. It certainly doesn't help that she's looking gorgeous tonight, respectfully," he added as Sasori's glare intensified.
"You can blame it on the exhibition, but you can't fool me. You need to get laid already so you can go back to being the normal, semi-cranky Sasori I know."
Sasori gave him the driest look possible at his uncouth statement. However, he couldn't deny anything that was said. Deidara was right in his assumptions, but Sasori wouldn't dare admit that to his face. Sasori was somewhat in a hurry to finish up and find Sakuno so he could take her home. He wanted to enjoy the rest of his night with her and show her the many ways he was happy to see her.
Sasori sighed in resignation.
"Fine. If you think you can handle making sure everything is done properly, then I trust your word. But," at, this he gave Deidara a pointed look, "if anything goes wrong, you call me as soon as possible. I don't care how late it is. Be sure to text me once everything is done and you're back at home."
Sasori paused for a moment before continuing.
"Also, please," he stressed, "leave that poor mover alone. I don't need any calls about you trying to beat him to a bloody pulp."
Deidara grinned.
"I'm already over the entire situation. The sculpture is still in good condition. No harm, no foul." He shrugged.
Sasori gaged Deidara's body language and facial expression. There didn't appear to be any signs of anger left on Deidara's visage. He wasn't sure how "over it" Deidara was, but he had no choice but to take his word for it.
He just hoped he wasn't secretly harboring a grudge.
"Good. I'm glad we're on the same page."
Sasori checked his phone. It was a quarter until 11:00.
Deidara chuckled.
"We've gone over everything that needs to be done. Now, go on. Find your girl and get out of here, un. You two crazy kids have fun." Deidara winked.
"I'm going to ignore that statement and take my leave. Good night, Deidara. Remember what I said."
Deidara waved Sasori off as the redhead started to walk back into the building.
"Yes yes. Good night. I will definitely shoot you a text once everything is finished up. Not that you'll be checking your phone anyway," Deidara muttered his last statement to himself after making sure Sasori was out of earshot.
Deidara waited for a moment before walking into the building himself, heading in the direction of the movers.
Though it was his suggestion, he would make sure Sasori still owed something in return for letting him leave on this busy night.
If he could convince Sasori to do so that is.
The Konoha night air was a bit chillier for it to be a summer evening. The city had was a bit quieter now that it was later in the night.
Sakuno could help the small shiver that went through her as a nightly breeze blew past her.
She was standing outside the front of the museum awaiting Sasori's return. She didn't want to get in the way of the movers packing everything up before they closed the museum. Plus, she had a slight buzz from the champagne she drank and needed some air. Though, she would have stayed inside if she had known there was a chill in the air.
She really should have checked the weather and brought a jacket.
Sighing, she looked at her phone checking for any messages. She noticed a message from Sayuri.
From: Ri-chan
Made it home safely with Darui. Hope you're able to do the same with Sasori. Have a good night!
She added a winking face at the end of her message. Sakuno's eyebrow twitched in agitation.
While she was happy that Sayuri was in a better mood, Sayuri's teasing could grate on her nerves at times.
She replied with a quick "goodnight" and an emoji conveying her agitation.
Locking her phone, Sakuno wrapped her arm around herself trying to maintain some sense of warmth.
She looked up at the night sky losing herself in her thoughts.
Warmth was unexpectedly felt on her shoulders and a familiar scent filled her senses.
She looked to her right seeing Sasori looked down at her.
"I'm sorry, Sakuno. Did you wait long?" The magenta haired woman shook her head as she wrapped his suit jacket that he placed on her shoulders further around her.
She shook her head.
"No, not at all. I'm surprised you that you're done so quickly."
"Actually, Deidara told me to go home. He said he could take care of everything on his own."
Sakuno looked surprised.
"Oh? That's unlike him. Do you know why he would do that?"
Sasori took a minute before answering. It's not like he could just tell her the true reason.
"I suppose he knew how much I needed a break after today." Sakuno nodded.
"I agree. I know you've been up all day making sure everything was in place, so you definitely deserve a break, Sasori-kun."
Bringing her closer to him, he wrapped both of his arms around her waist and buried his nose in her hair. The smell of lavender filled his nostrils.
"You do have a point. I'm just happy everything is finally over. Now, I can take a breather."
Sakuno leaned her forehead against his chest, a touch of pink dusting her cheeks. She opened her mouth to reply but was interrupted.
"Oh, there's our car."
The car that previously picked up Sakuno came to a stop in front of the building. Kabuto slid smoothly from the driver's seat and walked around to open the door.
"I trust your event went well, Sasori-sama?"
"Very much so, Kabuto."
"Where will we be heading, sir?"
Sasori looked down at Sakuno.
"Where will we be heading, Sakuno?" Sakuno blinked twice at him before replying.
"Huh?" Sasori chuckled at her smart reply.
"I'm asking you: Am I dropping you off at your place first or are you coming home with me?" He gazed deep into her eyes awaiting her reply.
Sakuno gawked at him. She had been unprepared for the question.
Gathering her wits, she took a minute to answer.
"I wanna go…" she mumbled. He tilted his head to hear her better.
"Hm?"
She flushed.
"I wanna go home with you," she blurted out. Her blush grew.
Sasori smirked in triumph.
"Very well then." He looked to Kabuto, who was waiting patiently for their chosen destination.
"To my condo, Kabuto."
"Very good, sir."
Sasori stopped for a minute as a thought came to his head.
"Before we head there, are you hungry for anything? We can stop and get something if you are."
Sakuno shook her head.
"Very well then."
Sasori gently pushed her forward to get into the backseat first, and he followed after her. Kabuto closed the door behind him and rushed to the driver's seat. As they pulled, Sasori pulled Sakuno closer to lean his head on her shoulder. Sakuno smiled. It felt so good to finally have him close.
"Tired?"
She felt him nod.
"Yes, it's been such a long day, but it was all worth it."
"Was the exhibition everything you planned it to be?"
"Very much so. Though, my granduncle showing up was a bit unexpected."
"I saw him pull you away earlier. Did he enjoy looking at your artwork?"
"With all of the extensive critiques he gave me about my pieces, especially where my puppets are concerned, I'm certain that he did."
Sakuno's face became sympathetic at how exasperated he sounded. She understood that moments with his family tended to take a lot out of him. She then shifted her body, so he was resting on her chest as she leaned against the car door. She began running her fingers through his crimson locks to help him relax a little more. He sighed in contentment while she felt his arms wrap loosely around her waist.
"I'm sure he's proud despite the criticism."
Sasori heaved a sigh.
"Possibly, but it can be difficult to differentiate between compliments and criticism. Both he and my grandmother don't mince their words when it comes to the arts, and it's even worse when it comes to me. God forbid how this would have gone if she came," he groaned slightly at the thought.
"I understand that Sasori-kun, but, despite that, how did you feel about the exhibition? I want to know how you felt about it personally, Sasori-kun."
Sasori was silent for a moment.
"Overall, I think it went very well. I managed to sell all of my pieces I put up for a bid."
Sakuno grinned.
"See? That was something you wanted to accomplish, and you did. Give yourself a little more credit. Your clientele in Konoha should grow in no time."
He should have known Sakuno would be encouraging him. Sakuno may not be the pinnacle of self-confidence, but she refused to let him focus on the only off-putting part of his night (minus Deidara attempting to murder one of the movers). Sakuno wanted him to acknowledge that he accomplished the goals he set for tonight. As much as he hated to admit it, she did have a point. The success of this night more than likely boosted his standing amongst Konoha's art scene.
"You're right. A few patrons even made some commissions including my granduncle."
Sakuno stopped rubbing her fingers through his scalp.
Sasori noticed.
He adjusted his head to get a better look at her.
"Sakuno?"
The look on her face seemed a bit disappointed for a split second before she plastered a fake smile on her face. Her hands started back rubbing his scalp halfheartedly.
"I'm so happy to hear that, Sasori-kun!"
Sasori's eyes narrowed.
"What's wrong?"
Sakuno was taken aback.
"Nothing! I'm just happy that you're going to be able to start some new projects and-"
"Sakuno," he said sternly.
The young woman flinched. She wasn't fooling him for a second.
"What's wrong?" he asked again.
She bit her lip.
"I…I am really happy for you. Truly. I know you've been worried about not having as many commissions after you moved here. But," she hesitated, "I know that, while this is a good thing, you're going to be even busier. That means we'll be spending even less time together. I know that sounds selfish. I'm sorry. I didn't want to bother you with my thoughts, so just forget I said anything."
She turned her head away from him.
He frowned and gently gripped her chin to turn her face back towards his.
Sasori looked her straight in the eye.
"It's not selfish at all. While it's true I will be busier, I promise it won't take away from my time with you. In fact, catching up on all the time I missed with you is my number one priority before I even start those commissions."
Sakuno's eyes were wide.
"Are you sure? I don't want to take away any time from your projects."
Sasori rolled his eyes.
"You aren't taking away from anything. The commissions can wait. Besides, how can I work without inspiration from my muse?"
His voice was teasing. Sakuno blushed. She still wasn't used to him calling her that.
"Ok, I'll take your word for it, but make sure you don't slack on your work."
Sasori shook his head chuckling a little.
"One moment you're worried about missing out on more time with me, now you're trying to make sure I don't slack on my work."
Sakuno glared.
"I can't be worried about both?"
Sasori smirked at her, laying his head back on her chest.
"Of course, you can. I just found it to be funny."
It was Sakuno's turn to roll her eyes despite the smile that grew on her face.
"Oh, Sasori-kun by the way, in case I didn't already tell you..."
She placed both her hands on the sides of his face gaining his full attention. She leaned in to give him a soft, lingering kiss on his forehead and pulled back. Sasori's eyes widened at how gentle the look on her face was. Her gaze, illuminated by the city lights, was warm as she looked into his eyes making his heart skip a beat.
Time seemed to stop at that very moment.
"I'm so very proud of you."
Sasori couldn't muster a reply. Her gaze, her show of affection, and her words seemed to warm him from the inside out. It was just a simple statement, but it carried so much weight for him. If there was anyone Sasori can depend on to give him words of affirmation, it was Sakuno. She was just so…
Beautiful.
Precious.
'Mine.' He thought to himself.
Gripping her wrists, he lifted himself off of her chest to sit up fully. Sakuno's face fell slightly at his lack of response and warmth.
His face was unreadable as brown eyes pierced into her. She couldn't help but squirm slightly.
"Sasori-kun?"
Sasori didn't respond. Not letting go of her wrists, he leaned in slowly as if attempting not to scare her away. His eyes were low.
Sakuno opened her mouth to call his name again but nothing came out. It was like she was frozen. Unable to push him away or stop him from doing whatever he was about to do.
He kept leaning in until finally – finally – his lips met hers. The kiss was slow but sensual. Sasori let go of her wrists to grip the back of her head and deepen the kiss. Sakuno let out a whimper but returned his kiss. She opened her mouth to grant his tongue access into her mouth. His tongue wrapped around hers in a soft caress while her hands gripped his arms unsure of how to handle the onslaught of feelings she was experiencing. She felt the hand not gripping the back of her head drift down to her lower back pulling her more into him. Most of the time, Sasori was gentle with Sakuno when he was kissing her.
Now was not one of those times.
He was more aggressive with the way he was moving his mouth over hers. Normally, Sakuno would be intimidated by such a sudden display of aggression. However, the combination of the small buzz she had from the amount of champagne she consumed and how much she missed his touch made her feel differently.
She wasn't intimidated at all.
It was almost as if part of her relished in it. She felt heat throughout her body that was almost suffocating in its intensity. She whimpered slightly as Sasori separated his lips from hers only for him to latch on to her neck. His hand at her lower back moved slowly to her knees to pull her more into his lap. She felt his hand move to the hem of her dress, rubbing her knee lightly. She gripped his wrist when she felt it start to move up her thigh.
"Sasori-kun, we have to stop," she whispered breathlessly. As much as she didn't want to stop, she didn't want it to be awkward if Kabuto were to figure out what they were doing.
Sasori smirked against her skin.
"Why is that?"
He gently licked up the column of her neck, pressing a kiss to her jawline.
"K-kabuto-san is in the front seat, and he might hear us,"
Sasori halted his working on marking her neck to look her in the eye.
"Well, I guess we will have to make sure that we're quiet then, won't we?" he whispered.
Sakuno blushed.
"But Sasori-kun we-"
"I missed you," he interrupted.
Her eyes widened slightly. He sighed and started to rub her cheek with his thumb tracing her bottom lip. His eyes were soft.
"It's been far too long since I've been able to see you and touch you like this. All I want to do is take you home…"
He leaned in closer to her with his lips right next to her ear.
"and make love you to as many times as I possibly can."
Sakuno felt a shiver run up her spine and a blush bloom on her face.
Sasori pulled back with a small smile to look at her.
"But only if you allow me to do so, Sakuno. I'm not going to push you into doing it just because we've already done it previously. I'm just as fine with holding you for the rest of the night."
Sakuno did not reply right away.
Sasori was mentally kicking himself. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything. The last thing he wanted to do was to make her feel like he was pressuring her into having sex. He probably made her feel more nervous than comfortable with his words.
He felt hands grip his face. He was pleasantly surprised when Sakuno shyly pressed her lips to his.
Face red, she pulled back from him and looked down nervously fidgeting with her hands.
"Sasori-kun, I…I really enjoyed our first time, and I want to do it again. I just wasn't sure how to ask or tell you. It felt kind of weird to just come out and say it. You know I'm not so good at speaking my mind at times," she giggled nervously.
She continued to fidget until he held her hands to stop her.
He leaned his forehead into hers.
She was terribly adorable when she was nervous.
Sasori knew that was an area where Sakuno differed from himself. While he wasn't the most talkative person, he had no problem speaking his mind by giving his full, unfiltered opinion on something (whether it was asked for or not). Sakuno, on the other hand, was more reserved with her views until someone (normally he or her best friend, Sayuri) brought it out of her.
Some incidents in her past caused her to become less outspoken about things that she may want or be uncomfortable with. Sasori would always curse the people who caused her to feel that way. It was somewhat difficult at the beginning of their relationship to get her to speak her mind when trouble arose. Despite this hurdle, she grew to be more comfortable with speaking her mind to him.
In this instance, he was glad she felt comfortable enough to clearly discuss her feelings about such a sensitive topic.
"It's ok. I heard you loud and clear this time. To be quite honest, what you said wasn't weird at all. There's nothing wrong with wanting to have sex again with your significant other, Sakuno. I value you being honest with me. Even if you feel like it's weird, I'm always going to listen when you have something to say, okay?"
Sakuno smiled.
"Thank you, Sasori-kun."
"Now then…"
His hand started to creep up the hem of her dress again, attempting to reach her inner thigh.
"Where were we?"
She gasped softly. Her blue eyes shifted nervously to the front seat.
"But Kabuto-"
"-is focused on the road right now. He's concerned with nothing but getting us to our destination safely," Sasori interrupted quietly.
He gripped her chin and kissed her forehead.
"Do you want me to stop, Sakuno?"
She paused for a moment, cheeks red.
"N-no, not really," she replied shyly. She pressed and rubbed her thighs together. Even with just the kissing and small touches, the heat was still spreading throughout her body especially in between her legs.
Sasori smirked inwardly as he took notice.
She was turned on too, huh? The thought made his shaft twitch slightly. Sakuno wasn't the only one feeling the effects of their actions.
"Just relax," he began rubbing her leg again and placed a kiss on her neck.
"Let me take care of everything."
He went back to attacking her neck with kisses and licks.
Sakuno was sure he would be leaving marks in his wake. She allowed herself to relax a little more into his embrace. Focusing on his hands and mouth rather than their driver, her legs opening wider to grant the redhead more access.
His hands crept higher and higher until they found their destination.
Sasori froze.
Where Sasori expected to feel underwear of some sort, he only felt bare, soft skin and slight hair right at the apex of her thighs.
"No underwear, Sakuno? You've become very bold I see."
"N-no I just….If I wore u-underwear it would have been seen through the dress and- "
Sasori interrupted her by pressing his thumb against her clit.
"Ah!" Sakuno let out a soft moan, hands reaching to grip his shoulders. She glanced at the front seat once again to see if Kabuto was paying attention to what they were doing. Either he didn't take notice, or he was just ignoring them to preserve their privacy.
Sasori began to leisurely rub circles on her clit.
"Hm, are you sure that's the only reason, Sakuno?"
She tried to clamp her thighs together to stop his teasing but to no avail. She tightened her grip on his shoulders.
"Ye-Ah! Yes, I'm sure-mm," she whined.
Sasori bit her earlobe softly. He started to tease the opening of her core.
"I don't think you're telling me the truth, my love."
Sakuno choked on a moan when his finger sunk into her. His other arm was wrapped around her waist while his hand was gripping her thigh to keep her from moving away from his fingers. Her back arched up into him as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Her legs seemed to open unconsciously as if wanting more of his touch. The sensations from his mouth combined with those of his fingers were not something she was ready for.
A hiss escaped Sasori as her walls clamped down on his finger. She was so wet and tight.
"Are you going to tell me the truth now?"
"Ah! Wait, I-mmmm."
The redhead watched Sakuno struggle to reply as he continued to move his thumb across her clit while moving his finger inside of her.
"Well?" Intense brown eyes met lust-filled, blue ones. Sakuno bit her lip.
"I…I w-wanted to-ah!-t-try and seduce you for once-hngh!" she managed to explain despite his fingers doing their best to distract her.
Eyes darkening, Sasori felt heat settle further into his stomach as his pants suddenly felt even tighter. The idea that Sakuno, as innocent as she is, was trying to seduce him for once turned him on so much more than it should.
It was taking everything in him to keep his impulse to take her in this back seat under control.
"See now was that so hard, Sakuno? The truth shall set you free."
He suddenly increased the pressure on her clit.
Sakuno gasped.
"However, I do believe I should show you my appreciation for your effort in seducing me. It's only right after all."
He then entered another finger inside of her.
Sasori slanted his lips over hers to swallow the moan that was about to rise out of her throat. He may not have cared that Kabuto could potentially figure out what they're doing, but that doesn't mean he was going to let Sakuno just scream her lungs out. He had to preserve some semblance of privacy.
Sakuno felt a slight twinge of uncomfortable stretching from the addition of another finger. She then felt herself quickly adjust as Sasori kissed her deeply. She felt his fingers moving around slowly causing her womb to throb, coating his fingers with more of her juices. For some reason, doing this with Sasori in the backseat of the car while their driver seemed unaware was exciting.
That excitement shot straight down to her core.
It was so…
Thrilling.
Sakuno couldn't help herself. She needed more. Of what? She wasn't exactly sure yet, but what she did know was that Sasori could help her figure out exactly what she needed. She pulled away from his kiss and buried her face in his neck.
"Sasori-kuuuun," she whimpered softly.
"Hm?" He was listening despite his focus on his apparent mission to make her cum with his fingers.
"M-more pleeeease," she started nibbling on his earlobe, one of Sasori's sensitive spots. Sasori inhaled through his teeth at the sensation.
"More what, my love?" He was able to keep his composure so far, but, with Sakuno's soft lips on his ear and the sounds she was making, it was getting harder to do so.
Sakuno whimpered.
"I d-don't know but please-mm! I c-can't. It's too much." Sakuno didn't know how to describe what she needed. It felt like she needed something to take this pressure away.
Sasori let out a dark chuckle.
"It's ok. I know exactly what you need."
His fingers began to move faster, shifting inside of her. He then curled them to hit a spot she didn't know existed.
"Hngh!" Sakuno bit her lip to keep herself from shouting too loudly.
"Sakuno, look at me," he whispered. She hesitated. She wasn't sure if she could handle Sasori looking at her face right now.
"Sakuno," he stated more firmly. The young woman removed her face from his neck into her lover's eyes.
Sasori's breath hitched.
Sakuno was the very picture of a woman lost amid pleasure. Her blue eyes were darkened and hazy with lust. Her lipstick was slightly smeared pouty from his kisses and her biting them. Markings lined her neck because of his actions.
She looked absolutely beautiful.
He was pleased to see her looking like this. He felt a sense of pride at the fact that he was the cause of her making this expression. He really wanted to see what face she made when he finally brought her to her climax.
He twisted his fingers inside of her with slightly more force. Sakuno closed her eyes again, biting back a sob.
"Ss-sasori-kun, I c-can't. I d-don't know what's h-happening. It's too mm-much!" her hips had begun moving in tandem with his fingers as if they were trying to help soothe the ache that had built up in her womb.
He kissed her on her cheek.
"Just let go, Sakuno. I got you, ok?" he cooed sweetly. He started moving his fingers even faster and made sure to hit the right spots inside her that would bring her to completion.
Sakuno felt the pressure in her abdomen grow more and more as his fingers continue to move.
"Sa-sori-kun," her voice hitched.
"That's it. Let go, Sakuno," he rasped into her ear. He could feel her walls clench around his fingers. He knew she was getting close.
Suddenly, Sakuno felt something within her snap as a shiver rocked her to her core. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and lights danced across her vision. The sudden surge of feelings and release of pressure was too much for her to even try to keep her voice quiet (Kabuto probably already knew what they were doing at this point.)
Sasori pressed his mouth against hers to swallow her scream once again. He pulled back from her to allow her to breathe. He chuckled softly at her lax body leaning over his with her face buried in his neck. He planted a small kiss on her shoulder as he rubbed her back.
"That's my girl. Are you ok?"
Sakuno whimpered slightly at the feeling of his fingers leaving her folds. Her thighs felt wet and sticky. She was afraid she might have a wet spot on her dress from her juices when she got out of the car.
"I don't know actually."
She looked up and froze the sight of Sasori observing his fingers that were glistening from her essence. She gasped as he placed him in his mouth to suck on them.
"What are you doing?!" she hissed, face red. Sasori smirked at her.
"Savoring the flavor of course."
Sakuno sputtered before covering her face with her hands.
"Don't say things like that."
Sasori laughed and took her hands from her face.
"Why are you so embarrassed? I'm just being honest. Really, how are you feeling? Did it feel good?"
Sakuno's blush grew even more. Too mortified to respond with words, she nodded reluctantly.
Sasori pressed a kiss to her cheek.
"Good."
Sasori's smirk bordered on sinister.
"Because there's plenty more where that came from."
Sakuno's eyes widened.
It was going to be a long night.
To be continued…
Author's Note: That concludes Part 2. This was honestly a beast to write. It ended up being over 13,000 words before I actually reached the conclusion of this chapter. Therefore, I decided to split it up to decrease the volume of the chapter, so a Part 3 will be coming soon as well. Nevertheless, I hope you all enjoyed Part 2.
The lyrics at the beginning of the chapter are from the song Love to Love You Baby by Donna Summer, who is an absolute icon. Rest in Peace to her. I, also, do not own this song.
Please favorite, follow, and leave a review! Love y'all!
