"Then you can go to hell for all I care with your fight against Zodiark on this Light and Darkness balance, Hydaelyn! No one, not you, Zodiark, the Paragons, the Scions or anyone will decide my fate. I, myself, will choose my own destiny and forge my own path from my own two hands!"

Phanes (Warrior of Light)

Alias: Kouki Kagami (Alias for spying), Phany, Phan, Phanny (Tataru), Azem the 14th (former title), Traitor (by the Paragons), Geezer (Alpoix, at times), Old man (Thorbjorn), Gramps (Fhrurael & Rhinrav, when they are particularly annoyed with him), Boss (Xehe'dir), Ancient One (Slyphs), my love, my dear (Aymeric at times)
Race: Amaurotine (actual), Midlander Hyur (possessing host)
Class: White Mage, Astrologian, Miner, Fisher (only when he brings Euros along to use his senses to fish up), Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Culinarian
Age: 26 (physical by his host), late 20s to early 30s (emotional), 20~30 eons/thousands (actual)
Height: 167cm/5ft. 6inch. (his physical host)

Formely a young Amaurotine who was starting out his work in the Akademia and collapsed by a vision of Amaurot destroyed by a calamity, then awakening in Evyind's body. It was revealed to his horror by Lahabrea and affirmed by Elidibus, the calamity did happen which destroyed their home and people, sundering it into thirteen shards and the source which was Hydaelyn.

Also, later learned a huge memory gap vanished from his soul of his life and his eventual death, learning he was not only married to his deceased spouse also being his childhood friend. But at some point, he had become the last 14th member Azem, and now traitor of the previous Convocation of Fourteen now known as Paragons. As such of his current status, he requested Scions to keep his true identity within the group to prevent driving the world into another conflict of mistrust due to his existence. Only the Scions, Warriors of Twilight, Haurchefant and his lover Aymeric, are the ones whom Phanes revealed his true self and name as a sign of deep trust to them.

"While I hate formal introductions, I believed this is necessary as no more lies to you, Scions of the Seventh Dawn, and Evyind's friends…. The one who you knew all this while as 'Evyind Windstorm' were nothing but lies. I am the former member of the Convocation of Fourteen now known to you as the Paragons. The 14th member, or defector to them called Azem. However, as a sign trust to show I'm on your side, I will reveal my true name to you all alone. My name is Phanes, an Amaurotine who resided from a place that existed in far eons back once known as Amaurot. But please call me 'Phan' or 'Phany', everyone."

— Phanes, removing his mask and formally introducing himself with his mask sigil to Scions of the Seventh Dawn and the seven adventurers during "The Black Wolf's Ultimatum".

An energetic, mischievous and carefree attitude who possess intelligence and inventive mind. A heart with strong sense of justice to protect his friends, that can be ruthless to borderline sadistic in killing his enemies. And a forgiving heart, like with Urianger whom he held no ill will for meeting with Elidibus behind their back, and Thancred when his body was possessed by Lahabrea. While acting as 'Evyind Windstorm' persona, Phanes's personality transformed to a reserved, humble and polite to people he meets. But when provoked, he shows between hot-blooded anger caved into his bloodlust to kill, or his previous aloof and merciless at times position as the Fourteenth in severe situation to bluntly call out on their faults.

"Are you a man, you bastard? Even, I, scorned as a monster by people in my orphanage and everywhere from my face live better than you lot! You dare to counsel me?!"

"What… What do you know about me?! I… I'm a Garlean by half in my blood from birth. My fate has been determined, that's why Dehja and Kah should be—!"

"So what?! So, what if you're born half-Garlean? So, what if you happened to be fucking larger than most Miqo'te by that blood? Other people's opinion does not matter, only you alone will determine who you are! That's what my Headmistress taught me!"

— Phanes to Xehde'ir after rescuing his adoptive siblings Dehja'tan and Kah'ne from his employers, in using them as leverage when he failed to rob the deed to an Adventurer's L-sized house.

Beneath his cheerful façade, Phanes held a great grief of sorrow of losing his home Amaurot in the Final Days, often showing a wistful at anything that reminds him of his homeland. This includes friends and people he loves, along his journey, such as mainly Haurchefant, Ysayle, Minfilla, Moenbryda, Papalymo and especially his former allies from the Paragons.

"I don't deserve your praise, Aymeric…. I may have saved that woman's daughter from her death…. It was still my fault. I led Lord Haurchefant to his death, Aymeric. I am the Warrior of Light, I was supposed to protect the people who I love and save everyone! Yet… It was always too late for the ones who are important to me. Her Majesty Queen Namamo poisoned by that bastard Teledji, my friends in the Waking Sands when the Garleans massacred them while I was away training to be a White Mage… Even though Lord Haurchefant was so important and dear to me, I let him down, Aymeric! I let down the person who was there for us when we were exiled by the Syndicate! I even let that Archbishop escape after what he done to the both of you! I disappointed the most important person of my life who bore his heart to me openly… Even the smile on my face was even a lie till his death! I'm no hero, Aymeric… I'm nothing but a phony to what a real Hero does!"

— Phanes finally breaking down before Aymeric after weeks of no rests in healing every ill people over Eorzea and undertaking dungeons run with different Adventurers during "The Sins of Antiquity".

He also has an outspoken, and a radiant personality attracts enemies and friends alike. In regards to feelings, he's very perceptive thanks to Echo as such noticing those who harbors feelings for him. Initially, Phanes rejects and denies harboring affection for anyone particularly Haurchefant and Aymeric, reminding he was a married man and now widowed. But, after Haurchefant's death, Phanes realized how dear he was to him leading his heart closed to everyone. This then led him to deny of his own growing feelings to Aymeric harder, even going as far as proclaiming that it was Evyind that was in love with him rather than himself. Something which Thancred points out how Phanes's expression was not only more easily readable, but sharing "the same feelings of love" when Aymeric pleaded him to join the "Grand Melee".

"Then, I'm fine like this just being able to fight for him, Lord Thancred. I think it's even fine if Aymeric becomes the Archbishop or remained as the Lord Commander after everything is over. As long as he remained as himself. The noble heart who cares for everyone in the nation he grows up and loves, he doesn't realize it… But he himself has people drawn, devoted to him and even falling in love with him, including—Thancred, you bastard…!"

— Phanes to Thancred, realizing he was tricked to reveal his innermost feelings when asked what does he think of Aymeric as the Lord Commander implying the difference between their statuses, race and gender even, after "Choices".

Once the dragonsong war was over, Phanes finally comes to terms his feelings of harboring affection to both Haurchefant and Aymeric, which the latter reciprocated after his confession of his identity and his feelings.

Along caring heart towards children that gets along with them, and becoming a somewhat-surrogate-uncle figure to the young Unukalhai. Especially towards the latter even as he's grateful for taking care against the Primals, Phanes wishes and encourages Unukalhai to enjoy the experience living his life more than fighting and worrying about the Source; not wanting his childhood innocence to be destroyed by his and Elidibus's conflict.

Phanes doesn't hesitate or rather welcomes challenges regardless how life-threatening and absurd it sounds, believing it as a chance to improve himself. A habit often in going for Hunt Marks in his free time or sacrificing his sleep and meal time to do it. This part of personality often put in clash with his friends for how easily he throws his life away for the sake of thrill and things believing for the greater good. Even when most of his memories has recovered and still recovering, he's often attempting to reach for the mysterious robed figure believing to be his deceased husband in these visions to remember his name.

Initially, Phanes held respect while holding doubts towards Hydaelyn to aid her tasks of protecting the world from Darkness. But as the journey went on from killing his former Amaurotine friends, Minfilia's sacrifice, Warrior of Darkness's reason to save his home and eventually more of his memories recovered…

"Then, tell me the truth if you believe it was a greater good, Hydaelyn. Does the means of sealing Zodiark including killing innocent civilians who had nothing to with the conflict? People who are neither tempered to Zodiark… Or anyone's Will was necessary to be destroyed? Innocent children who only live their lives a few eons are an essential sacrifice, sundering their soul, so that Zodiark will never be formed…? Well…? ANSWER ME, HYDAELYN! WHAT WAS THE TRUE REASON MY HOME AND MY PEOPLE CEASED TO EXIST BY YOUR DAMN LIGHT?!"

— Phanes in rage demanding Word of the Mother, Minfillia, the reason for the death of his home and people in "One Life for One World".

Phanes shows a great deal of distrust towards Hydaelyn, once his Echo glimpsed into Lahabrea's soul at his final moments in watching Hydaelyn destroying his home in her fight with Zodiark. While he makes it clear to Elidibus he has no intention to join Zodiark and will destroy him if push comes to shove. He also outright declares to Warrior of Darkness and company, the Scions & his friends, and Hydaelyn herself that he intends to destroy her along with Zodiark should she brought any harm to his friends. Going as far as to declare that She's still hiding something from him despite claiming it was for the better good, including the destruction of Amaurot along with ones who aren't tempered to Zodiark's Will.

"You understood better than anyone if my Will bounded to serve as a mindless minion to any of the Primals, Hydaelyn. My memories may have been sundered, but it doesn't stop my soul from restoring them all. My will is my own, my words are my oath, I vow the day you turned your back on my friends, I will destroy you the same way you did to Zodiark! Right now, I dare you to do the same as Zodiark if you fear I'm now a minion to the Darkness. But… You know it, Hydaelyn, no tempering like those delusional Gods or anything of your light will bind me to your Will no longer!"

— Phanes declared to Hydaelyn he will destroy her before Warrior of Darkness, Scions of the Seventh Dawn and Warriors of Twilight in "One Life for One World".

Though he did tell Minfilia that he wished it won't come to this between them, despite saying what he meant was all of his Will knowing he's tempered to no Primals. For now, Phanes remains aiding Hydaelyn for all his own sole reason to protect the ones he loves.

Due to his declaration, Phanes and the Scions's relationship grown strained especially with Thancred whom he considered close as a brother figure. However, the two currently put their differences aside upon Ilbred's plan to wage war against Garlemald. Now, he also seeks mainly to remember the real truth behind the destruction of his home, believing Hydaelyn is hiding something about the true reason for her appearance that leads destruction to his home.

Currently, Phanes and his Free Company waits for Alphinaud to receive news of the Alliance in regards of Balesar's Wall. While continuing acting as 'Evyind Windstorm' the Warrior of Light to the world, himself personally to his friends and now long-distance relationship with Aymeric de Borel… Phanes's dreams are now plagued believing to be another memory back in his life at Amaurot… A young boy whom he promised to find him beyond the distant time, worlds and status, their dance of bloodshed will continue forever on.

Race: Midlander Hyur
Class: White Mage (1.0), Desiring to be white mage (ARR)
Age: 23 (deceased)
Height: 167cm/5ft. 6inch.

— Evyind's final thoughts before his passing.

A timid and shy Midlander Hyur who shared the exact same appearance as Phanes by coincidence. Orphaned at a young age with a terrible childhood and abused until his death. Phanes currently possessed his body by Hydaelyn's Will after his cold-blooded murder by Lahabrea. Before his death, Evyind made a promise to both Thorbjorn and Herbes respectively in their childhood.

"Then… Allow me to protect you, Thor. I can't fight unlike you do. B-But I have learned how to heal by the books in the lounge! I… I promised I won't get in your way. I don't want you to fight the Garleans alone, so…. Will you please promise me that…?"

— Evyind making a promise to Thorbjorn in their childhood.

One to protect whom was weak and frightened at losing his home to the Garleans, the other to go on a journey together as adventurers after the other was adopted into another family. However in truth, he was the forgotten hero who fought Bahamut, saving Eorzea and being transported to the future by Archon Louisoix.

Due to transporting into the future, everyone including himself loses the memories of his journey and his heroic act of saving Eorzea. Before Phanes's arrival, Evyind was working in a bar at Hyrstmill, saving his hard-earned gil to become a White Mage. He, then forced to travel to near Ixals's lair was to retrieve a bucket of water for his boss.

While doing so, Evyind overheard their plans to summon Garuda and attempted to flee upon being discovered. But, before he could search for a Wailer, Lahabrea appeared before him and fatally wounded him on recognizing he's the vaunted Warrior of Light who foiled their plans.

As the Ixals left and Lahabrea vanished, Evyind heard Hydaelyn's voice by his Echo while apologizing for being unable to save his life, She still needed his help to stop Ascian's plans from coming to fruition.

Eventually, Evyind offered himself to remain asleep in his body in allowing the 14th Ascian/Amaurotine Phanes, Hydaelyn's next chosen champion and the true source of their Sundered soul, to take his place as the Warrior of Light.

While his body was being possessed by Phanes, the latter built a makeshit grave located in North Shroud's Hedgetree, which often visited by Phanes and his childhood friends from the Warriors of Twilight.

"Here lies the White Mage whose bravery illuminated greatly, first exposing the darkness lurking within the shadows to the world."

— Evyind's tombstone description from saving enough gils to purchase one by the Warriors of Twilight, after the events of "The Ultimate Weapon".

Yugiri also noted how Evyind's appearance was similar greatly resembled of a Doman Midlander Hyur, wondering if Evyind was someone born from Doma.

Alpoix de Juraire

Alias: Young Master (Xehde'ir & Phanes, while as Evyind façade usually with sarcasm), Spoilt Brat (Phanes), Heir to House of Juraire, Alpon (Yensunemur)
Race: Duskwight Elezen
Class: Summoner, Alchemist, Botanist
Age: 27
Height: 194cm/6ft. 4inch.

"For fury's sake, if you don't want in, get lost! Hide and pray till your damn servant showed up to clean your mess, pampered geezer. I'll pay your damn money for the robe once I'm done!"

"Old man…? Pampered…? Retarded…?! Geezer?! I'll have you learn that my name is Alpoix de Juraire, an arcanist. The successor to the House of Juraire! And I'm 'not' old, I'm only 24, old man!"

— Phanes and Alpoix's exchange at their first meeting, which was also the start of their long-bickering friendship

A haughty and proud Duskwight Elezen, formely exiled and now heir to the House of Juraire, specializing in medical treatment and healers to Ishgard. He's often at each other throats with Phanes, yet many noted despite their harsh insult to each other... He's one of the many who showed strong friendship towards Phanes after what they have been through, and the one who usually keeps him grounded from his blood-thirsty desire for a challenge. Despite his stuck-up attitude, Alpoix knows when to give gratitude and acknowledge deeds and efforts. Also, beneath his harsh exterior, he also possesses a sweet and kind personality to his lover when they are alone, Yensunemur.

"Pride, you say…? I no longer have that from the very day I was banished by my mother. I still never understood her philosophy to save everyone regardless friend or foe. Father's teachings, she says… A foolish idealism that Holy See yet to strike for our medical care still showed worth in their eyes. But if there's one thing I learn… Pride has no involvement when it comes to saving a person's live. From the moment you swung your blade to Yensu, your life is over, Lord of the Hive Ravana!"

— Alpoix to Ravana, from taking a fatal blow for Yensunemur resulting his hair chopped off and earning a scar in "Lord of the Hive".

His selfish pride raised in Ishgard led him to often mock and in conflict with many of his temporary allies. Alpoix's pride eventually provoked by Estinien on his achievement which would make him remain exile regardless what he does. Eventually during Ravana's fight, Alpoix discarded his pride in order to protect a fatal blow on his wanted lover, Yensunemur, earning both a scar and his long hair cut off tied into a short ponytail.

"No one here wants your stupid mask that says everything is alright, old man! We all knew after you scream your heart in grief from Greystone's passing at the Vault, you're not fine at all! No one wants you to behave like Garlond's machinery weapons. No one wants the Warrior of Light…! Are you just so blind by your own light to not see all we wanted is our brainless thrill seeker to scream nothing is alright and curse the Twelve for taking away Greystone's life, Phan!"

—Alpoix to Phanes after Aymeric brought the latter back to the Forgotten Knight when he collasped from his breakdown, during "The Sins of Antiquity".

After Haurchefant's death, Alpoix sworn to Phanes that everyone will be accompanying his journey filled with blood to carry his pain and burden in believing his existence cause nothing but pain whether he likes it or not…. Much to the latter's chagrin and gratefulness of everyone's friendship, a thought Phanes refused to see Alpoix as a friend.

"No, how about you lot listen to us for a change, impudent brat! You called yourself a friend and family to this doofus? I've seen families treating outsider far better than you self-proclaimed diplomats and scholars! Was there a time before we were exiled, you ask him if he was alright? His thoughts? His life? Or, a simple day of what he likes and hates aside from throwing him to Thal's footstep to take his glory after fighting a Primal people like yourselves brought forth.

This idiot again, is no hero. If anything goes, he doesn't even fit to be a hero at all! A bloody self-centered moron who only thinks about fighting monsters gazillion times his own size! Selfish bastard who think his own sundered powers could protect the world alone from those Paragons. Lastly, this man here is our leader who isn't one to sit by and agree everything in silence, he's a mortal like us!

I had once revered you all in respect at the authority you did. However, none of you deserve any of that. Your own sin with the Crystal Braves is not he to shoulder them, or the creation of the Primals led by your own mistake. You lot are no better than the Syndicate themselves, that's what I'm saying!"

— Alpoix to Alphinaud when he was about to proceed with the plans in searching for Thordan VII right after Phanes brought back to the Forgotten Knight infirmary, during "The Sins of Antiquity".

And, he also called out from his frustration and anger to the Scions over-reliant nature on Phanes treating him like a beastman reveling to their perfect and invincible Primal instead of treating and seeing him as a normal "nit-wit" person, from doing menial task to life-endangering risk to fight Primals. Thinking that treatment is what driven Phanes's self-sacrifical nature and guilt to the extreme, outright declaring the respect he once had for the Scions vanished.

"Don't mistaken us, Scions. We're only with you people from the start because this moron's Echo caught your attention. Just as you see him as a weapon to your fit, he's our leader through and through. It's only natural we follow him alone because he is not a tool for using. Rather a bratty old man who need to stop picking fights for a challenge to everyone he meets."

— Alpoix to the Scions after Phanes declared to destroy Hydaelyn if she turned her back on them in "One Life for One World".

However, after the events of Dragonsong War, Alpoix makes it clear that unlike Phanes who is loyal to Scions for his role and duty. The Warriors of Twilight are solely loyal to Phanes alone, and follows him in their journey to keep him in check.

He deserved not to say that comment, when he took it away with him in death. Don't worry, you love him, don't you? I've known a while, or rather felt the guess between the Lord Commander and Lord Fortemps's illegitimate son.

Your mouth tells the truth of your loyal love to your dead husband, yet your gaze is always looking at him. I only discovered this because in my eyes, there's only you… You, being the first person to see and accept who I was. I hope you continue to smile; sadness doesn't fit who you are. Your regular cheerful self is like a light radiating warmth to my heart. I only wished you stayed that way, if his death hurts you more than necessary… If you're like this… Am I not good enough? Can I really not take Haurchefant Greystone's place? I… Can't I be the one who's been by your side to support you, Phanes…?"

— Xehde'ir embracing Phanes after finding him finished a dungeon run with a group of adventurers, professing his love indirectly during "The Sins of Antiquity".

Race: Dunesfolk Lalafell
Class: Paladin, Armorer, Goldsmith, Miner
Age: 28
Height: 97cm/3ft. 2inch.

"Can it be…? E-Evy, is that you…? I knew it! That mask on your face is you after all, Evy! It's me, don't you remember? Huh? Oh, right…! Agh! Here we go, do you remember, Evy? It's me, Herb! Long summers it has been since I left hasn't it?"

— Herbes's long awaited reunion with "Evyind" aka Phanes while the latter delivers Kan-E-Senna's missive to General Raubahn during "The Gridanian Envoy".

A notable freelance Flame Captain of Immortal Flames working under Pipin. Also, the sole helpful childhood friend and earnest older brother figure to the deceased Evyind. A friendly, kind and considerate Lalafell to everyone he meets, particularly to Evyind. His kindness to Phanes who was possessing his body led Xehde'ir teasing the latter if he harbored feelings for him aka Evyind, much to his chagrin.

"As the three of you said, my decision to take up the Paladin's sword was all for Evy. Evy is my light after I lost my family in an accident. He was selfless to be there for me and I couldn't the same for him much when I have to leave with my new family after two moons. That's why now, by the oath of a Paladin, I vowed my life to ensure you three will not get pass me to him!"

— Herbes to Thorbjorn, Rhinrav and Fhruhrael in their fight at Tam-Tara Deepcroft to see which team reached to the boss in clearing the dungeon during "Fire in the Gloom".

Initially, he holds an antagonistic relationship with Evyind's three bullies, particularly Thorbjorn for tormenting him every single day in the orphanage. Before leaving his newly adopted family, Herbes swore an oath to Evyind they would venture in the World of Eorzea together. To be his only knight to protect him from any harm.

"Honestly speaking, when Thorbjorn revealed to all of us of who you are… I was the same as him. A pain that I can't describe how much I felt when learning Evy was already dead. Anger in believing you deceived us all, mostly to me, in using his memories of our promise and feelings to trick us.

I wanted to hate you as you planned from the moment you disbanded our party. I wanted to think you're a villain in league with the man who killed Evy! Yet, the more I think about our time together, the more it didn't make sense to me. Everything you did, your confrontations with those Ascians were all true feelings from your heart.

It could've been an act to trick us thinking you're playing nice until your tolerance was gone to deal with us once and for all. Until… I found the grave you made for Evy. When the lady first told me after arriving there, I thought it could be one of the wailers who thought Evy died without realizing you walked around in his body, visiting and cleaning his grave. Then… I saw you and learned you were the one who did all of this. Including putting the bracelet Evy made for both of us to uphold our promise…

You wept for Evy wishing he lives instead, wishing you never took his body and his life was saved by the miracle. You even told him about me, Thorbjorn and everyone who wanted him alive in this journey. And, you confessed you didn't belong to this world and even apologize for causing his death when you done nothing. That's where I decided you're not who you attempted to be, Ascian. You really are like Evy in many ways! Your kindness, your sincere noble heart all of it was the truth. That's why I accepted Xehde'ir's offer with Master Juraire to aid you from behind against the Primal Titan until we felt you're willing to hear us this time."

— Herbes to Phanes, after he, Xehde'ir and Alpoix reuniting with him in the aftermath of Livia's massacre in the Waking Sands, after "Eyes on Me" and before "He Who Waited Behind".

However, after being distraught and betrayed upon learning the truth of "Evyind" he's been with and the real Evyind's eventual cold-blooded death… Herbes accepted Phanes upon seeing his true good-hearted personality, becoming an older brother figure to him especially after Haurchefant's death. His relationship with Thorbjorn, Rhinrav and Fhrurael patched up and now are on good terms with each other.

Thorbjorn often mocks at "Evyind" initial attempts to be a white mage to venture out on his own, believing a weak little monster like him should remain in the closet for someone to protect him.

"Give it up! There's no way a coward like you will ever be able to protect and heal someone, let alone the egg in our hands! What you need is a cage and a protector. Luckily for you, I, leader of Hellfire Vigor, offer you the chance to be your protector with a suitable cage for you, Evyind!"

In truth under his tough exterior, he harbors a huge trauma at the loss of his family to the Garlemald, often plague by nightmares of their cries to have him flee every now and then. A vulnerable side he often hides and denies, yet only allows Evyind's kindness in their childhood to see them.

"You'll regret making a fool out of me, Ascian! You think it's funny to act as that monster pretending to know us all by that memories?! I heard it from 'him'! You're the same as that shadowy bastard, aren't you?! It was weird to think that monster finally grown strong to face me after all this time… But you, you're the one who killed him in cold-blood…! Who the fucking hell are you?!"

— Thorbjorn to Phanes, demanding in anger on the latter's true identity upon learning from "Thancred" aka Lahabrea visiting them during the Feast Championship, intent on breaking the group apart, before "Wrath of the Titan".

In the past, Evyind swore to be by his side to protect him while he thirsts for vengeance on the Garleans. Yet this all changes the moment Herbes entered the orphanage and his growing closeness with Evyind, leading a jealousy broke their friendship. Upon the truth Phanes's existence and the real Evyind's death, Thorbjorn initially refused to accept Phanes as his ally and even believes he's the one who murdered Evyind.

"Why the fuck won't you fight me, bastard?! Show me the great Ascian's power your kind enjoys flaunting so much in my face! Why…?! How did I end up being protected by the asshole using that monster's body?! Even with that pathetic body, you are still stronger like him… I trained my ass all day all night, those nightmares… My mom and old man screaming for me to run, while those Garlean scums slaughter them all! Then you… By some fucking accident, your damn comrade killed him and you took his place… Even till the end…. So why…? WHY THE HELL AM I STILL SO WEAK EVEN NOW THAT I'M UNABLE TO PROTECT YOU AT ALL, EVYIND WINDSTORM?!

If I had been stronger, if I had learned earlier the Headmaster kicked you out of the orphanage and took you in, then none of that would have ever happened! Yet… Why… Why until the very end you didn't come to me for help, you moron!"

— Thorbjorn to Phanes, broke down in the middle of the fight he demanded of refusing to accept working with the latter or Evyind's death, after "The Black Wolf's Ultimatum" & before "Operation Archon".

Eventually, Thorbjorn comes to terms with Evyind's death and now vowed for vengeance while honoring his promise to Evyind to take back his homeland. While both Phanes and Thorbjorn are allies, the two tend to get very competitive and challenged each other in almost anything to outmatch the other.

"You are the one who doesn't get it! Why the fuck are you smiling for?! Lord Haurchefant died, didn't he?! It hurts doesn't it?! We all saw that bloody coward Zephirin strike him while you two weren't looking! Just because he says your smile suits you, doesn't mean you are to wear it all the time! By the bloody Fury, if he's here now, he would've yelled at you for faking it to make him happy! You think you're ready to take him down like this?! Are you that desperate to see your own demise for vengeance?! DO YOU THINK YOUR PATHETIC HEROIC DEATH WILL BRING JOY TO HIM IN THE AFTERLIFE, PHANES?!"

— Thorbjorn to Phanes after Aymeric brought the latter back to the Forgotten Knight's infirmary when he collapsed from his breakdown, during "The Sins of Antiquity".

And like Alpoix, one of the few willing to call out on Phanes's brave façade when he, like everyone, suffered a great grief from Haurchefant's death.

Rhinrav Muscadet

Alias: Rhin (Thorbjorn, Yensunemur), Airheaded bunny (Estinien), Little Miss Rabbit (Xehde'ir, mainly as an insult), Baby, Bae (Fhruhrael)
Race: Rava Viera
Class: Black Mage, Alchemist, Carpenter, Botanist
Age: 24
Height: 178cm/5ft. 10inch.

"Hehe… Ahahaha! What are you going to do now, little beast? Hide yourself inside Tam-Tara till those zombies kill you, or burn yourself alive by running through my flames!"

— Rhinrav to "Evyind" aka Phanes, when she cornered him in a 4 vs 1 battle to retrieve Leia's egg in "Leia's Legacy".

A sly Black Mage with a malicious personality under her cute façade and voice, and one of the three bullies who tormented Evyind in their childhood. She constantly judges other and patronizes them with rude insults and prefers to stay in the back for combat to unleash surprise attacks.

Her cute façade is eventually called out by Estinien, mocking all of them but particularly Rhinrav and Alpoix as seeing unworthy to protect Ishgard during the dragonsong war. He also called out on her tactics of fights to be cowards of cowards, even her tactics never once intended to send her friends as a sacrificial lamb to protect herself.

This made Rhinrav questioned of her own actions of how Fhrurael always protected on the front while she watched from her back. An act that brought pain to her heart especially to her childhood friend, Sljd Fyth, who shielded from other Vieras from bullying her on her desire to explore the world while lacking physical strength.

And a sad smile also shown on her face when Phanes trying to appease for Warriors of Twilight, Estinien, Ysyale and Alphinaud at their journey to meet Hraesvelgr. She revealed to the Amaurotine additionally at how ironic her wish came true to explore the world at the price of losing her family and tribe by the Garlean invasion.

"Don't mess with me four-armed bastard… The power of Black Magic is more destructive than your flailing dull swords! You think making fun of me like those asses in my clan all because I lacked physical prowess? Well, congratulations pea-brained God, your luck ran out the moment you swung your blade to my girlfriend! You've earned yourself the taste why this power I withheld for all because of my dear sweetheart, Fhrurael!""

— Rhinrav to Ravana, from taking a fatal blow for Fhrurael resulting her hair chopped off in "Lord of the Hive".

After successfully fighting Ravana involving having her long hair cut by his blades, Rhinrav completely drops her cutesy façade to show her true direct yet nicer personality to her friends, latter is more particular shown after Haurchefant's death.

"Thorbjorn is right! Do you have any idea how worried we were?! You just disappeared after announcing Count Edmont to grieve, then next sun you show up to discuss on our next move, you're already half-dead! Then again, you vanished before us on your rotten duty as the Warrior of Light to aid everyone in the world. Is this what Haurchefant wanted?! To go around saving others without a concern for yourself! You… D…. *hic* Do you have any idea how scared I was when the Lord Commander brought you back to us unconscious and possibly near death from overworking, Phanes!

*hic* *sniff* I have already enough regrets on not apologizing to my family for being selfish before the imperial scums invaded our homeland. And Evyind, when he saved us all from Bahamut… Not even once holding a grudge against us of how horrible we treated him. So, please… *hic* I don't wish to lose anymore people dear to me, the 14th Ascian—No, my friend, Phanes….!"

— Rhinrav to Phanes after Aymeric brought the latter back to the Forgotten Knight when he collapsed from his breakdown, during "The Sins of Antiquity".

Her combat decided to take on a more direct frontal confrontation while still skillful in manipulating her enemies into her trap.

Fhruhrael Sykurwyn

Alias: Rael (everyone except Rhinrav), Sweetheart, Honey (Rhinrav)
Race: Sea Wolf Roegadyn
Class: Monk, Leatherworker, Weaver, Goldsmith
Age: 26
Height: 192cm/6ft. 4inch.

A monk with a fiery personality and previously one of the trios of Evyind's bullies in his childhood. She was orphaned when Garlemald conquered Ala Mhigo, with her parents killed while fleeing into Gridania. Like Thorbjorn, she's also considered more of the brawns than the brains in combat, usually prefer leaving the strategy to either Rhinrav, Yensunemur, Alpoix or Phanes. And like Phanes, she is eager to challenge someone for a fight which usually she becomes Yda/Lyse's or Phanes sparring partner. And also, a mentor in teaching Phanes on Physical Combat.

"Leave him. He needs time to sort out his thought, but he'll be back to face the Empire. What's with that face? Aah, you're wondering how I seemed chill compared to my Rhinrav and Thor. I'll admit, I'm still pissed at your acting. I had believed that Windstorm finally gained a spine after all these Summers, for example, that scar on your eye… He got it when Thor aimed that rock at the small-fry(Herbes) and he took it by standing right in front of him.

Or maybe he already did… If by the Ixals' squawking, Evyind ran for his life to tell the Wailers even knowing he won't make it with his stamina. That's why you two are very similar, aren't you? The same bullshit ideal thinking pushing away your friends to protect them from your former comrades. My forgiveness doesn't come easily. All I asked in return… Teach us. Teach us the way to deal with your kind so that all of us can avenge Evyind. Echo or whatever that we don't have, we don't care. Evyind's courage inspired us to spit them in the face. All of us won't let his death be in vain… Phan."

— Fhrurael to Phanes, about Thorbjorn leaving after his fight with the latter to visit Evyind's grave. And also, her acknowledging Phanes as one of them to fight both Garlean Empire and Ascians, after "The Black Wolf's Ultimatum".

When learned of the real Evyind's death and Phanes's existence, Fhrurael was enraged at being tricked thinking Evyind she knew finally got a backbone to stand up for himself when it was Phanes impersonating him all the time. She's the first to forgive and accept Phanes, seeing how much Phanes's inner strength was the exact same as Evyind, and understanding his need to lie to protect them from the Paragons.

"Hey, Phan. Tell me, what do you think is right? Walking to Thal's gate hoping your death brings freedom to your home or remained doing nothing while watching your own people dying for that freedom? It's not as if ever it never came into my head or anything. My master Widargelt taught me initially and we shared the same purpose to get back at the Garlean Empire. Losing our family, friends and homeland left nothing for us to be bind down… Or that was what I'm blinded to.

You've guessed it. My bae gave me the harshest scolding of through my life. Furious at how stupid I'm becoming to throw my life away when I have her, Thor, Yensu and you guys now. See this scar on my arm here? I got this medal of honor after managing to beat the hell out of my Master when he attempted to use me for vengeance!

I want to save my home like Lyse, or more than anyone in the world. I want the souls of my Pops and Mom to return and rest in peace. So, I've decided… I'll fight. I'll fight to stop that bastard Ilbred and then find my own way here to free Ala Mhigo once and for all. A path so that no senseless sacrifice like Haurchefant Greystone's death will happened!"

— Fhrurael to Phanes before splitting up into respective group to stop the Griffin's assault on the Baelsar's Wall during "Griffin, Griffin on the Wall".

Born and raised in Ala Mhigo, unlike her fellow Ala Mhigans and Lyse, she doesn't seem to be interested in taking her hometown back from Garlean Empire. This notion led many believe she's heartless, uncaring and submissive to the Empire. In truth, Fhruhrael desired very much for her homeland free from Garlean Empire. But rebellions led by extremist people like Ilberd Feare, have her reminded by her path as a Monk to opt for a different path instead of charging ahead. A view that mellowed her fiery nature after witnessing both Phanes and Haurchefant attempting to stop the Archbishop which led to the latter's death.

Yensunemur Qalli

Alias: Yen (Alpoix, when alone with him), Yensu (everyone except Alpoix), that Airheaded Moron (Alpoix)
Race: Xaela Au Ra
Class: Scholar, Alchemist, Botanist, Fisher, Weaver, Culinarian
Age: 24
Height: 216cm/7ft. 1inch.

"Not yet… It's not enough, Thor. He's right there before me, to hold him into my arms… But… I'm still lacking so much to protect him. I need to be stronger, stronger than the Warrior of Light to fulfill my promise to "her"."

— Yensunemur to Thor, after leaving Alpoix and "Evyind" aka Phanes with Leia's egg back into the latter's hold as he talked about Alpoix and his promise towards Alpoix's mother in "Leia's Legacy".

The tallest among the eight of them. A Xaela Au Ra whom initially hides his appearance mainly to avoid being hunted by Temple Knights as a wanted Dravanian. Though it's believed he vanished the next day to escape from the House of Juraire's wrath, in truth, Alpoix's mother Prashene, planned for his escape after accepting his determination and himself to be her son's lifelong partner as a family and support to the House of Juraire to protect his life. In which, he promised her to be a man worthy to walk by his lover's side till the day he could returned back to them.

After the dragonsong war and his efforts contributed in aiding the Ishgard Churigeons, he's able to walk freely in Ishgard as part of the Warrior of Light team with a few scorns from time to time. And also, Alpoix's would-be fiancée after kissing him openly when Nihogg was defeated before the Ishigardian people.

Yensunemur is a laid-back and kind person, whom is usually quiet and calm unless spoken to. He also tends to be very direct, blunt and often says things on his mind that's not meant to be said; showing an airheaded side of his personality. A silent observer in battle in mentally planning strategy against his foe. Like Minfilia, Krile, Unukalhai, Phanes, Ysayle and Arenvald, Yensunemur also possessed the Echo ever since his childhood, mentioning something similar to seeing Dalamud and hearing Hydaelyn's voice.

"There's nothing good of this power. Even if it's a blessing from the mothercrystal claimed to be by the people, it'll always be a curse to me. Envy, hatred, fear, jealousy, wanting and greed all of it… The moment it happens when I hear Her voice, misfortune will follow after. I'm sorry, Thor, Rhin, Rael… If I hadn't told the Ascian of what I saw about Phan, you would've been happy in that lies your 'Evyind' is still alive."

— Yensunemur revealing to Phanes and everyone he possessed the Echo, which was the cause of "Thancred" aka Lahabrea to expose Phanes's existence to the group in the Feast, after "The Black Wolf's Ultimatum".

His Echo granted him a Clairvoyance allowing him to see a person's past much further and at ease. However, unlike the known Echo user, Yensunemur dislike or outright shows complete hatred in using the Echo. Even just an accidental trigger will make the Au Ra shows a complete revolting face, easily guised that his 'prone' to Aether sickness is kicking in.

"It's rare for him to be talkative. Yen… Mistwalker's presence lighten his homesickness for a long time. Tch, before you spout nonsense of jealousy from your nit-wit head, Windstorm. I'm glad he's happier than he was back home.

It's mystery to that woman and I, when I brought him back to my home from the Brume. He mentioned he's from Doma, and had that gloomy look about it. That woman didn't ask much since something pretty bad must have happened to his home. Though anytime we got herbs lying around our houses from Doma, Yen had nostalgic face of missing his home. Mention on and off his family cultivating plants used both for medical and combat purpose.

But any further, he doesn't want to talk about it… So, I'm glad… He smiled like this to have a little of his home here in Eorzea."

— Alpoix to Phanes, Warriors of Twilight and Scions about Yensunemur during "The Mother of Exiles".

Despite knowing how much Scions needed searching for Echo user against the Primals, Yensunemur remained indignant and even personally requested no one is to say a word to the Scion of his hidden true power. The reason of his hatred to his own Echo seems to stem from his childhood, but Yensunemur refuse to talk about his past due to his own choice.

Euros

"Euros! Your name will be Euros from now on! Nice to meet you, my best friend!"

"Kweh kweh!"

— Phanes's first meeting with Euros back in Amaurot whom was hatched as a baby chick during his Creation Magic class by his orphanage headmistress during his childhood.

Phanes's ever loyal Chocobo Companion he earned from Immortal Flames Grand Company. More than a love at first sight, it seems Euros has reunited with his beloved Master from Amaurot and now going together on his adventure and hunting. Something seemingly to confirm by Phanes's intuition, Euros even remembers and recognizes Phanes despite possessing Evyind's body.

"Do forgive him if he tends to be rowdy and wild than other Chocobo, Flame Private Third Class Windstorm. Unlike the average chocobo, this fellow made many attempts leaving stable joining the crowd, even as far as joining a group of adventurers to monster-infested lairs I say! A brave little one he is, I suppose all his vigor behavior must have been waiting for you all this time."

— Mimigun to "Evyind" aka Phanes, when he first gets-slash-reunites with his long-lost friend after joining the Immortal Flames during "My Little Chocobo".

Unlike many Chocobo, Mimigun notes Euros is a peculiar eccentric Chocobo showing huge interest in mingling with large crowds. He's also extremely eager in going into dungeons with Phanes to go against monsters larger than his own, a fearless personality that he shares greatly with his owner. Also, a protective side like his Master to enemies who attempted to harm Phanes and his friends. Despite seemingly smaller than average Chocobo size partnered with a Hyuran, he makes up notably with his speed which helps mainly to drive with the Free Company's carriage in their travels.

"I think why Euros is so happy is because of your hair color, Phan. He eyes at it and back at his body for a while. By how chirpy and excited he behaves, it's safe to say he wants it to match with you!"

— Herbes to Phanes, deducing Euros's reason of happiness despite the extreme concern of how sickly he looks in the snowy white color.

Initially, his feather color was desert yellow like every other Chocobo. However, due to the excitement from the celebration as Frontline Champion for their Free Company, Xehde'ir fed him high quality snacks earned from their winning gils changed his color into snow white. Despite how horrified Phanes was thinking he was terminally ill, he eventually accepted seeing how happy he was with a change of look. Though, Herbes deduced his happiness radiated from how his feather's color is now like his Master's hair color.

"Hadey"/Zagreus

"We're not keeping that thing with us! Have you not learned every time it shows up, at least a Primal will be summoned by the bloody Twelve knows where?"

"That's an overexaggerating dramatic words coming from you, Young Master. If anything, this little guy always brings us to the source of every problem to fix it! If you guys aren't taking care of him, obviously I will! Welcome to the Warriors of Twilight Free Company, little guy."

— Phanes and Alpoix's exchange of the shoebill arriving by their Free Company's house fence after few days later of Emperor Solus's death and Varis becoming the Emperor after winning in war of succession, taken place after "Tendrils of Intrigue".

A mysterious shoebill whom appears before Phanes at times since his first arrival in Eorzea, and joining him on his journey few days after the news of Emperor Solus's death and Varis's succession. His team members considered the foreign bird to Eorzea an ill omen, due to how his unexpected presence brought life-threatening dangers. However, Phanes begged to differ and often welcomes him despite getting annoyed at his haughty behavior.

An arrogant and eccentric bird who often wears an expectant and waiting look to Phanes for some reason. His behavior reminds Phanes greatly of a particular person whom he can't recall, even noticing how much of the similar traits they share. One trait namely was Hadey preferred sleeping on Phanes's lap, and would sleep for hours, making the latter unable to move from his spot.

"Let me go, Yen! I'm going to cook this bloody bird, and serve them to the peasant myself!"

— Alpoix to the shoebill, being restrained by Yensunemur when the shoebill shot him a look to his cooking which described: "I've-seen-a-blabbering-brainless-idiot-cooked-way-better-than-you, Peasant."

Hadey often prefers food with ingredients made and cooked by the highest quality and retaliate if it doesn't suit his taste, much to everyone's chagrin. Yet for some reason, he doesn't mind if Phanes did the cooking and will finish them all with no complaints. He's often found notably perching on Phanes's shoulder or Euros's head, which the former often note at his laziness in using his wings to fly.

"All right, all right, I'll stop, —. He does have a name, right?"

"Of course, he does. His name is Zagreus—!"

"Then I'll call him 'Hadey'! Nice to meet you, Hadey!"

"Do not call him by such an insolent name, Hero. I have not conjured this creature, insisted by Hythlodaeus, to be called by such a lowly name."

"Excuse you! It's my birthday gift from you, so I call whatever I want with it! At least my nickname sounds more cuter than that overly stiff and complicated naming of yours!"

"Oh, the wonders why Lahabrea refused you to ever named the creature in the Akademia. His name is Zagreus, and that's final."

"Nuh-uh, his name will be Hadey to me! The least I could call him since unlike some stuck-up Chief-to-be Architect, he's more adorable and friendly despite sharing the same grumpy looking face. Pfft, can't wait to see the face Arey will make if I show this to him. Even he'll think the same thing as Hyth for making a replica of you."

"Now I truly regret of my magic to create a gift wasted on you—!"

"Nope, Hadey's mine now, —! Any gifts given on a birthday will not be returned!"

"It's Zagreus, you fool."

"Hadey!"

"Zagreus!"

"Hadey!"

— Phanes and the mysterious person, whom would also be his husband later, bickering back and forth on the former's birthday gift naming as one of his returned memories.

As more memories recovered, Phanes finally remembered the shoebill as "Hadey" aka Zagreus. One who he considered greatly like his own child, a gift he received during one of his namesday celebration from someone who's an extremely dear and important no longer in this world. Yet, the name of his beloved remained unknown to him.

Despite remembering his real name, Hadey doesn't acknowledge his real name when being called but at the given nickname, he'll pecked angrily at the said person usually being Phanes. Even as Phanes and Hadey often bickers, he's the companion aside from his lover Aymeric to confide his inner feelings to. But, mainly the recovering memories in Amaurot while attempting to remember the name of his deceased beloved's name.
