Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Chapter 147

Author's Note: I'm back. Did you miss me? No? Did you miss the story? Yes? Alright that's good! So those of you watching season 5, there is a part of the story that I'm not adding when I get to there. And I know you all know what that is! This training killed me. I am totally exhausted. I slept 9 hours last night and going….yeah do I have to get up. My bed made me promise I'd come back. Review!

Hershel, Michonne's, Joey and Governor's POV:

Joey looked up as the door of the RV opened up and the Governor brought in Hershel and Michonne. Joey released the breath he didn't realize he was holding when he was glad that it wasn't Summer.

Michonne turned quickly and looked at the Governor. "Let him and Hershel go. This isn't about them, this is between us."

The governor shook his head. "I'm not the same man as I was before Michonne. I just want the prison, no body needs to get hurt."

Joey huffed. "He's a broken record about that."

Hershel glanced at the younger man. "I don't believe you."

The Governor looked at him. "Well I don't care," he simply answered.

"He's going to take the prison one way or another. And he knows that Jewel is pregnant, he doesn't care," Joey informed the pair.

Michonne glared at him. "I'm gonna kill you," she told the one eyed man.

"No you won't," the Governor told her.

"You're pretty confident about that," Joey told him.

Hershel looked at both of them. "Stop it. You want the prison, you say you don't want to hurt us," he told the other man.

"That's right," the Governor answered.

"Listen Governor," Hershel said.

"Don't call me that," the Governor hissed.

"He goes by Brian now," Joey said. "Surprisingly he doesn't have a split personality thing goin'," he said. "Oh wait, maybe he does."

"Joey," Hershel said in a warning voice. "Look you're people, our people, we can find a way to live together. These people you need to keep alive, do you love them?"

"You're a good man Hershel, a better man then Rick," the Governor said.

"Everything you said, the way you said it, you've changed. So has Rick," Hershel informed him.

The Governor shook his head. "The two of us would never be able to live together. Michonne and I would never be able to live together. Joey here, he'd chop my head off the first time I closed my eyes," he said.

"We'll find a way!" Hershel said as he pushed on. "I found a way!"

"I'm trying hard. There are all kind of ways I could do this. This way, you get to live and I get to be…" the Governor started to say.

"Be what? You get to be the savior again?" Joey asked. "You say we get to live, but think about Jewel, she's not going to be able to survive out there. You're signing her death warrant, the death warrant of an unborn baby."

Hershel looked at the Governor. "You said you want to take the prison peacefully as possible. That means you are willing to hurt people to get it. My daughters would be there. That's who you'd be hurting. You'd be hurting Jewel, an unborn baby, a little girl, and Summer. You understand what it's like to have a daughter, then how can you threaten to kill someone's else?"

Hershel looked at him. "Because they aren't mine," he said as he went out the door.

Joey got up and went to the door and listened for him to go away. "Hershel you have to know he means to kill us all."

Hershel looked at him. "I think he's trying to do the right thing."

"Say there's a chance in hell that Rick does agree to giving up the prison, say they all walk out, do you really think he's going to let us and them go?" Michonne asked.

"He's going to pick them off like ducks in a pond, and then if we're lucky, he'll kill us," Joey said.

Hershel looked at them. "We can hope he's telling the truth."

Joey looked at him. "We can hope that we all come out of this alive, Hershel. We can hope and pray that we can save the people we love."

Jewel, Daryl, Mar, Tyreese and Rick's POV:

Rick kissed Jewel as he ran his hand down her pregnant stomach. "You don't need to come with me, already told Summer that I could do this by myself."

"I know you can, but you don't have to. We don't have to do anything by ourselves anymore, Rick. Plus I swear, I'm never letting you out of my sight again," Jewel responded as she kissed him.

Rick laughed. "Didn't get enough this morning?" he teased as he kissed her.

"You have a couple days to make up for," Jewel teased as she kissed him again.

"Alright, enough of that, out in public like that," Daryl groused as he came up with Mar.

Mar hit his shoulder. "Hey, behave," she told him.

"I am behaving' it's them that needs to behave," Daryl teased.

Mar laughed. "How are you feeling Jewel?"

"Alright, better now that everyone is better, or getting there. How are you feeling?" Jewel asked.

"Glad to be out and about, Mitch is getting better too," Mar answered.

"Daryl I needed to talk to you," Rick said.

"What about?" Daryl asked.

"Needed to talk to Axel too, but since you're here, I can start with you," Rick said.

"Rick what is it?" Mar asked.

Rick took a breath. "Summer and I, we went out with a run with Carol. She was the one who killed Karen and Ridge. She killed two of our own, she couldn't be here. She's gonna be alright. She's got a car, supplies, weapons. She's a survivor," Rick told them.

Daryl looked at him. "Stop saying it like you don't believe it," he told him. "You let Summer be part of this? You let this be on her conscious?"

Jewel took a breath as she rubbed her stomach. "Daryl, you know Summer. Rick didn't 'let' her, there was no stopping her if she decided it's the right thing. She's a stubborn Dixon that way."

"Trust me, it would have been easier if she wasn't with me," Rick said. "But Carol did this, she said it was for us. That's how it was in her head, and she wasn't sorry."

Daryl shook his head. "Man that's not her, this aint her," Daryl insisted.

Mar took a breath. "Daryl, she's not the same woman she was when I joined the group. She lost Sophia, and a death of a child or the thought of a death of a child can make people different. We're all different. But Carol is like our den mother, so it does make a bit of sense that she thought she was protecting us. I don't agree with it, and I don't know if I agree with the way of handling this," she said as she glanced at Rick.

"What are we supposed to do with those two girls?" Daryl asked.

"Summer and I told her we'd watch out for them," Rick told him.

"You couldn't have waited until this whole thing was over?" Mar asked. "That's why we have a council…I mean I know Carol would have had to been removed?"

Jewel put her hand on Rick's shoulder. "Tyreese fought with both Rick and Daryl when he found those bodies. He felt like he couldn't have her here when he got back. Plus he didn't know how Ronnie and Tyreese were going to handle it."

Rick nodded. "I'll admit both Summer and I had selfish reasons. If this thing killed everyone but Carol and me, and the kids, and Jewel, I couldn't, I wouldn't have her around my children, around my pregnant wife. I'll take that on with the council. Ronnie knows, she figured it out before we did. But she didn't tell anyone. She says she forgave her, not sure if she's being truthful or not," Rick told them.

"There isn't a deceitful bone in Ronnie's body. I don't think she's got it in her," Jewel said. "She doesn't have a filter, much like Jane."

"If she says she's forgiven her, she's telling the truth," Mar responded. "You haven't told Tyreese yet though?" Mar asked.

"No, I didn't know how he'd take it," Rick admitted to the group.

Daryl stood straight. "Then let's go find out," he said.

"I'm going to go check on Mitch then go talk to Summer," Mar said as she squeezed Daryl's arm.

Both Daryl and Rick looked at Jewel. Jewel looked at them. "I'm pregnant, and I've been resting for the past few days, so the answer to your unasked question is yes, I'm coming with you."

Daryl shook his head as the three of them walked away.

Rick put his arm around Jewel's back as he supported her as they walked. "Tyreese are you down here?"

"Rick that you?" Tyreese asked.

"Tyreese, what are you doing down here?" Jewel asked as she looked around.

"We need to talk to you," Rick told him.

"That can wait, you have to see this," Tyreese told them as he led them to where dead rats were.

Daryl looked at them. "The hell?" he asked.

"Hells bells," Jewel said under her breath.

"I was…well just looking for answers and I found this. The same person that killed Ridge and Karen. Remember the rats at the fence? They showed up the same day that Ridge and Karen were killed. We got a psychopath living with us," Tyreese insisted.

Jewel glanced at Ridge and Daryl. "I don't think it was the same person," Jewel said.

"Why?" Tyreese questioned. "We got to find him Rick. And I'm not going to sleep until we do," he said.

"Jewel's right, Tyreese. The same person who did this, I don't think it was the same person that killed them," Rick told them.

"Why?" Tyreese asked again.

Rick was about ready to answer as an explosion rang out. "Jewel you alright?" he asked as he grabbed her arm.

"Yes, I'm fine. What was that?" Jewel asked as Daryl was already heading out the door.

Tyreese, Jewel and Rick followed him. Jewel took a breath. "The devil himself."

"Rick come on down here, we need to talk," the Governor said.
