Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Chapter 150

Author's Note: My brain is changing a lot in the end part of season five. Sorry I kept you all hanging for the weekend. I got a new Kindle and wanted to play. I was a big kid! Yes Rick's conversation is a bit changed in the episode but well, he's not forgetting what the Governor tried with Jewel. Time to get the Governor to blow up the prison….poor Hershel. Please review.

Rick's POV:

Rick glanced backward and took a breath back to the prison. He was relieved when he saw Jewel wasn't there anymore. He hoped like hell she had gotten on the bus, and secretly wished that his children would not be at the gate either. He turned his attention back to the Governor. "You don't have to do this, we can work out a way," he told the other man.

The Governor shook his head. "Rick you're making this harder then it has to be. You got maybe an hour of sunlight left. I suggest you start packing. The longer you wait, the harder it's going to be for you to get out of here," he told him.

"We can all-all live together. There's enough room for all of us," Rick informed him.

The Governor nodded. "More then enough. But I don't think my family would sleep well knowing your under the same roof."

Rick took a breath. "We'd live in different cell blocks. We'd never see each other til we were ready. It could work, you know it could."

Hershel looked up at the Governor. "He's right."

The Governor shook his head. "It could've, but it can't. Not after Woodbury, not after Andrea," he said.

"You did that, not me," Rick said. "I know it's not going to be easy. You stay away from us, we stay away from you," he said as he glanced around to the people the Governor was with. "We fought this out once before, you remember? You were confident then but you lost. If I remember correctly, you lost a lot of good people that day. Truth is there's a lot of things that you've done that I can't forgive you, but I'm willin' to look past those things, so we all have a chance to live," he said as he looked at him. "It won't be easy for any of us, for my wife, but the truth is it's gonna be a lot harder then us standing here shooting each other. But I don't think we have much of a choice."

"We don't, you do," the Governor said.

Rick noticed as Joey glanced at him then back at Tara then back at him. He gave a slight nod. "We're not leaving, you try and force us, we'll fight back. Like you said, the gunshots will bring more of them out. They'll take down the fences. Without the fences, this place is worthless. Now, we can all live in the prison, or none of us can."

"We'll fix the damn fences," the Governor told him.

Rick looked at the girl in the ponytails that Joey had glanced at before. "You, you in the ponytails. You saw my wife, she's eight months pregnant. Do you really want to send her out there in her condition? To give birth out there? Do you think she'd survive? Do you think any of the sick children we have in there will survive? Is that what you want? Is that what any of you want?"

Joey glanced at Tara and started working on the ropes she had loosened.

The man in the tank glared at him. "What we want is what you have. Maybe you should use protection next time. Time for you to leave asshole."

"Look, I've fought him before. When he lost, and his people fled because they knew they lost, he butchered them. Joey here wouldn't have been alive if he didn't use his conscious. We took in his old friends, the ones that were lucky enough to be to old or to young to fight, and now they are part of this. They've helped us build this place up. They've become leaders. Now you put down your weapons, walk through those gates, you're one of us. We let go of all of it, and nobody dies," Rick told them. "Everyone whose alive right now, everyone whose made it this far, we've all done the worst kind of things just to survive. But we can still come back. We're not to far gone. We get to come back. I know…we all can change," Rick told them as he saw Hershel give a small smile.

The Governor held up Michonne's sword and looked like he was going to give in. "Liar," he said as he drew the sword down on Hershel splitting his neck from his body.

Michonne and Joey both looked at him and took a breath.

"NO!" Rick yelled as he pulled out gun and fired and ran backwards.

TBC: I know short chapter but perfect place to end it. POOR Hershel!
