"Does dating a Power Ranger get easier?" Bay asked her mother who was getting ready to go out for the night.
"Do you want me to lie or tell the truth?" Kimberly asked turning around to inspect her dress.
"Lie to me," the girl said laying on her mother's bed.
"It gets better once the villain is gone," the former ranger said as she kissed the top of her daughter's head. "So what is Conner doing tonight?"
"He's catching up on some sleep. Apparently Mesogog messed with the ranger's dreams a couple of weeks ago and he hasn't been able to sleep well since. We're hanging out tomorrow," the teen looked at her mother. "Are you going to be out late? I think you need a curfew mom."
"And when did I get a curfew? I'm the parent."
"I don't know this person you're going out on a date with. He could be a serial killer or worse another Power Ranger," the girl waved dramatically.
"How is a Power Ranger worse than a serial killer?" Kimberly asked shaking her head as she looked for her black heels.
"I'm being dramatic. It's part of being your daughter," Bay smiled at her mother.
"Be good. No parties and no boys," Kim said making sure that she had her purse and keys.
"Have fun mom."
"Goodnight Bay."
Kimberly walked downstairs and out to her car. She paused for a minute when she thought she saw Tommy in his living room. And for a second she felt guilty going on this date.
She hadn't been on a date since the divorce. She had to focus on Bay and keep her somewhat in line. Her personal life got put to the back burner until recently when Bay and Connor started dating. Her daughter hadn't been out late in weeks and she knew that Connor was having a good influence on her.
Shaking her head and releasing her from her thoughts she got into her car and made her way to the restaurant her and her date decided to go to for dinner.
Kimberly sat at the restaurant waiting for her date. She hadn't been out on a date since she had dated her ex-husband. She had been divorced for over a year now. She felt that it was time for her to move on.
Of course moving on with Tommy was out of the question. There was no way she was going to date him again while there was a battle against good and evil going on. Hell she didn't even know if he still had feelings for her. They hadn't really had the chance to even talk about them and their past relationship, it had always been about Bay.
"You look beautiful," a voice complimented her. She had looked up and saw Anton Mercer.
"You look pretty sharp yourself," Kimberly smiled as her date sat down.
"I want to thank you for agreeing to go on a date with me tonight," Anton smiled at her.
"I'm a little surprised that you asked me to dinner," the brunette said looking up from her menu.
"I'm not going to lie. I've found you interesting since you've moved here with your daughter," the man looked at her over his menu. He was also curious about her relationship with Tommy.
"I'm not that interesting believe me," the woman smiled at him. She could do the dating thing again. She deserved to be happy.
"I find that hard to believe," Anton grinned before waving over a waiter. "We'll take a bottle of your best wine."
"Right away Mr. Mercer," the waiter nodded and then left to retrieve said bottle.
The date was like any other date. The two talked and ate and had desert.
Anton paid for dinner after refusing Kim's offer to pay for her meal but she did convince him to let her leave the tip.
Since they arrived in two different cars Anton was a gentlemen he walked her to her car and placed a kiss on her cheek.
"Maybe we can do this again sometime?" Mercer asked looking at the woman.
"Sure. I'll let you know," Kim smiled before getting into her car.
When Kimberly got home she was greeted with a quiet house which meant that Bay was in bed already.
Kimberly made her way to her bedroom and smiled when she saw Bay asleep in her bed.
Bay hadn't fallen asleep in her bed since before she married David. She would sleep in her bed more than she slept in her own bed. Kim got ready for bed and laid in the space that was left to sleep. She had to be up early tomorrow for errands before she had to head into work in the morning.
"Where were you and Bay this morning?" Ethan asked his friend as they walked to class.
"Probably somewhere making out," Kira snidely added.
"We were talking. Her mom went on a date last night and she just wanted to talk," Conner looked at both of his friends. "She's really changing."
"Well while you and Bay were talking Devon and I got our dragon war cards taken by Randall," the blue ranger said dejectedly. "I just got the ruby dragon card."
"Isn't that game for kids?" Bay asked coming up from the side of them.
"I'm not explaining it again," Ethan said throwing his hands up and walking away.
"Hey Connie. Thanks for listening today," the girl leant into her boyfriend.
"Anytime," Conner smiled and put his arm around his girlfriend.
"Are you busy tonight? I was thinking we could have dinner with my mom and then watch a movie, maybe work on that essay of yours," Bay suggested looking up at Conner. He was about five inches taller than her.
"Sounds like fun," the red ranger looked down. "Except the essay part."
"It will be fun. I promise," the teenage girl said just as the bell rang.
"We better get to class," Kira reminded the couple as she walked past them to head to Doctor Oliver's classroom.
Bay smiled and walked with Conner to her dad's classroom. It was still weird that her teacher was her dad.
"Ok your dad just glared at me," Conner whispered to Bay as they walked by their teacher.
"It's because you're dating his daughter," Bay laughed taking her seat next to Conner.
As the class started and went on Bay found herself getting increasingly bored by the minute.
As Bay listened to Ethan and Devon try to explain their reasons for playing some kids card game she couldn't help but laugh a few times. They were really passionate about this kid's game.
As Bay gathered her things she couldn't help but think back to her mom's date last night. So when she had walked into Conner who had been talking to her dad about possibly getting Ethan and Devon's cards back she was completely out of it.
"Hey you ok?" Her dad asked her. "You seem a bit distracted."
"I'm good. I just have to get to the gym to train with mom, she's still upset with you by the way."
"I figured that out by the way she keeps glaring at me," the spiked haired man sighed as he watched the last of his students clear the room. "I just have to make it up to her somehow."
"Good luck with that," Bay yelled behind her she made her way to the door of the classroom. She was about to be late for her first practice since her ankle had healed. She actually couldn't wait to get back on to the bars.
Midway through actually getting to the gym Bay was pulled along with a crowd that was heading outside. Once she had gotten outside she was shocked to find her dad fighting with Principal Randall. What was even more shocking was that after a huge crowd appeared Principal Randall transformed herself into Elsa and disappeared into a portal.
Deciding that too many crazy things were happening all at once Bay made her way to her car and drove home. There was no way she was going to try to process everything she had just seen while trying to do gymnastics.
"Elizabeth Hart. You promised me no more skipping practice."
"Mom Ms. Randall was Elsa and the whole school saw her and dad fighting so excuse me if I didn't feel like flipping through the air while distracted."
"Don't worry about your dad. He can take care of himself."
Bay watched as her mom walked into the kitchen to start preparing dinner and wondered if her mom still had feelings for her dad. They were just teenagers and Bay was the result of some kind of love that they must have had. Pulling out her chemistry book she let her mind wonder a bit to the idea of her parents possibly getting back together.
A few days later Bay was hanging out with Conner and his friends since she had been at gymnastics practice and they themselves had been dealing with a monster that Mesagog had set free.
"Wait Mercer is Mesagog?" Bay asked getting up from her chair.
"Yeah. Bay," Conner looked stunned. He'd never seen Bay act this way. "What's wrong?"
"My mom went out with Mercer a few days ago," the brunette left the Cyber Café and walked to her car. She had to let her mother know about the guy she went out with.
"Bay!" The red ranger yelled as he tried to catch up to his girlfriend. "Your mom went out with Mercer?"
"It was her first date since the divorce," Bay reached in her bag to find her keys but they weren't anywhere at all. "Where are my keys?!"
"Let me drive you home ok?" Conner offered grabbing the keys she had on the strap of her bags.
"He could have hurt her!"
"Your mom was a Power Ranger. She could have handled it."
"I encouraged her Conner! She wasn't going to go until I told her that she needed to be happy," Bay placed her head on Conner's chest. "She could have been taken and she's been there for me my whole life."
Conner wrapped his arms around the girl and placed his head on top of hers. "You still have your dad and you have me."
"I need to tell my mom about this. She can't go out with him again."
"I know baby. I'll drive you home and you and your mom can talk about this."
Bay let herself be walked over to her car and into the passenger seat as Conner got into the driver's seat and proceeded to drive her home.
"You know my car is definitely better than yours," Conner mentioned as he started the mustang.
"Oh please. Your car has a few years on mine," Bay laughed thinking of Conner's red corvette.
"It's called classic for a reason."
"Yeah right."
"I never understood why both of parents got houses in the middle of nowhere."
"It must be a former ranger thing. My Uncle Jason lives practically in the middle of nowhere as well."
"He was on a team with your parent's right?" Conner asked recalling the video that he, Ethan and Kira had seen a while ago.
"Yep. He's married to my Aunt Trini who is one of my mom's best friends. You'll get to meet everyone when graduation rolls around. Mom invited everyone she knew."
"That's a lot of former Power Rangers."
"I didn't know they were Power Rangers until just recently," The black haired girl looked out the window and stared at the passing trees. "But it makes sense why whenever Uncle Jason babysat for me he would tell me stories about the Power Rangers and how they were an amazing team of friends. "Wait Conner I drove you to school. Who's going to take you home?"
"I'm sure if I ask Dr. O nicely he'll give me a ride or I could call Eric."
"You mean the better looking twin?"
"We look the same and I'm much more handsome then him."
"And modest."
Conner stopped the car a few minutes later in front of Bay's house and put the car into park. It looked empty for the moment, Bay's mom was probably at the school dealing with some coaching things. Bay had managed to skip again which he knew her mom was not going to be happy about.
"You know you get this serious face when you think," the girl commented as she looked at her boyfriend.
"Just thinking about prom and graduation," the teenager deflected. In all honesty he was starting to get worried about where their future was headed now that Bay had gotten into her dream school across the country.
"Don't worry about that now. We still have some time before we even have to think about any of that," Bay opened her door and got out.
"You're right. Can I hang out for a bit before I call Eric?"
"Sure."
