Disclaimer: I do not own the Power Rangers franchise. I take creative responsibility for the creation of Bay and the plot.

Bay couldn't help but to think that prom just meant that they were closer to going their own separate ways in life. Bay herself was headed to New York to study to be a lawyer while Connor had been undecided at the moment.

Leaving meant that she would be also leaving her dad. Bay had spent the last few months slowly getting to know the father that she had once wished to know about in her life. Sure, her father was involved in saving the world with a group of teenagers that happened to include her boyfriend. As much as Bay wanted to be sad about leaving she knew that her life had to move forward and that she couldn't dwell on the past.

Right now, Bay just wished she wasn't waiting for her mother to come back from looking after Elsa while the others went to defeat Mesagog.

"I'll see you when this is over," Connor kissed her cheek as he got ready to load in the truck with the others. "We still have prom tomorrow."

"Just make sure the world doesn't end Connie," Bay said as she leaned into her boyfriend.

"You got it," Connor smiled as he left to get into the truck with Kira and Ethan. "You just stay safe in case of the worst."

Bay looked in the direction that Connor headed off into and walked back into her own house. She probably wasn't going to get any work done for school but she could at least try to distract herself from worrying too much.

Which had worked for the first couples of hours until had decided to go next door to check on her mom and Elsa. Walking across the street she couldn't help but think that even if her mother could protect herself she was still going to worry, up until a few months ago her mother was the only family she had left.

As soon as she had entered her dad's house she could tell something was off. There was a slight smell of smoke that hit her nose once she had entered into the house. Bay moved quickly to the basement where the lab was and saw that it was in pieces.

"Mom!" the girl yelled as she walked further into the mess. "Mom!"

"What happened here?" her dad's voice came from behind her. "Bay? What are you doing here?"

"I was checking on mom and I found the lab like this."

"What's this?" Connor said picking up some kind of box.

"It's a black box. I keep a video camera in it," Haley said as she walked over to one of the non-broken monitors and plugged in the device.

A few seconds later they were all watching as Zeltrax took both Bay's mom and Elsa out of the lab as it was being destroyed.

Bay could barely listen as her father and Anton went back and forth about whose fault it was. Her mother was being held hostage by some monster and she couldn't do anything about it.

"Bay?" Conner called to her pulling her from her thoughts. "Do you want me to take you home?"

Bay shook her head just a bit. She didn't really have an interest of being in her house by herself. She would have rather been able to stay with her father and Conner. Going home meant that she would have that reminder that her mother was missing and that she couldn't do anything to help get her back.

"We'll get them back Bay," Her father walked over to the both of them. "I promise."

After a few minutes everyone had started to go their own separate ways. They had all agreed that there wasn't much that they could all do while they waited for Zeltrax to make his move.

Bay had decided against going home that night and crashed in the guest room in her father's house. The girl still had no interest in being alone that night.

Conner had come by the next morning to check on her. Bay had been grateful for the distraction before prom. She didn't want to think of getting ready for prom without her mom. The two had gone dress shopping weeks before and found the perfect dress for her.

If she was being honest a long dress wasn't more of her style. But it had been more of an empire waist dress that had only one shoulder.

"We could just stay in tonight," Conner suggested as the two of them sat on the couch. She still hadn't felt like going home just yet.

Tommy had gone to the venue where the school had decided to hold prom to uphold his duties as one of the chaperones.

"We should go. It would be a nice distraction," The teenager looked at her boyfriend. "Besides. I have faith in the Power Rangers."

Before Conner could answer a familiar sound of Conner's communicator went off.

"Duty calls."

"Be safe," Bay called after her boyfriend as he started towards the door. She was slightly terrified about the outcome of the fight.

Time had gone by really slowly. Bay had given in and went back to her own house. She still had to get ready for prom that night. Bay had gone up the bathroom to take a long shower. If anything, she needed to relax than try to have her mind occupied over her mom.

"Bay?" her mother's voice floated up the stairs.

"Mom!" Bay grabbed a towel and ran downstairs.

Her mom was there next to her father. The two of them had been standing pretty close together that she wouldn't have noticed that they had been holding hands otherwise.

"Are you okay?" the girl asked her mother as she rushed towards her and pulled her into a hug. "I've missed you."

"I'm fine. Tommy saved the day," Kimberly looked up at her ex.

"Okay. You both can be gross later. I need to get ready for tonight," Bay said as she pulled her mother towards the stairs.

Conner walked up to the door of Bay's house a bit nervous. They had managed to save the world earlier but he hadn't heard much from Bay other than they were still on for prom that night.

Part of him could still feel the void where his powers had been, and he tried not to think about it much. Tonight, was prom which meant that he was closer to ending his high school career. He still had no idea what he wanted to do after. He knew that Bay was headed off to New York to work on her law degree.

The front door opened before Conner could knock on it. Mrs. St. James had been waiting for him.

"You look nice Conner," the woman smiled as she let the teenager into the house. "I wanted to thank you again for helping to save me today."

"It's what us heroes do," the boy smiled as he looked at the woman. She had been dressed in a long dress with her pulled up into a simple ponytail. "Are you chaperoning tonight as well?"

"Someone has got to keep you kids in line," the woman smiled as she fixed a stray strand of hair. "Tommy should be over in just a minute. I'll go get Bay."

Conner watched as Kimberly walked up the stairs to retrieve her daughter. The boy looked at the pictures lining the table that stood behind the door. There had been a new picture that recently had made an appearance. It was a group picture of what he could only assume was the original ranger team.

"That's an old one," a male voice came from behind the boy. "It was before Jason, Trini and Zach went off help the world a different way."

"Bay mentioned that she still sees some of the older Power Rangers," Conner recalled an earlier conversation that he had with Bay earlier.

"I'm not surprised. Kimberly was great friends with everyone."

"They're the best group of friends one can have," Kimberly's voice cut off the two. "Bay is on her way down."

"You look beautiful," Dr. Oliver complimented as he walked over to the woman.

"Wait until you see me then," Bay's voice came from the landing above the staircase.

Conner could feel the air escape from his lungs as he looked at the girl. Bay had been dressed in a floor length dress much like her mother but her dress had one shoulder and had been a dark purple. Her hair had been pulled up into a bun so that it was out of the way for the evening. The dress had managed to bring out the purple highlights in her hair more.

"Wow," Conner breathed out as he watched her descend the stairs.

"Still having the articulating issue?" Bay laughed as she reached the bottom of the stairs.

"You look gorgeous," the boy walked over and pulled out a white corsage. "I had a feeling that there was going to be a lot of purple tonight."

"Wise choice," the girl smiled as she held out her right hand. "It is my favorite color afterall."

"Let's get some pictures and then head out," Kimberly called from behind the couple. In her hands was a small digital camera ready to take pictures.

After a few pictures the couple had been more than ready to get on with the evening. Conner was going to drive the two of them in his car while Bay's parents were going in vehicle. The two teenagers did appreciate the fact that they were going to be able to have a prom experience that wasn't going to be overlooked by the two adults.

The start of prom had been kind of slow. The couple did meet up with Ethan and his date. She had seemed to be exactly what Ethan would need in a girlfriend. Conner had been happy for his friend.

Bay laid her head on Conner's shoulder and smiled as they swayed to the music Kira and the band were playing.

"You know I think I realized why you came to Reefside," the boy looked down at his girlfriend.

"Why is that?"

"We were meant to meet and you were meant to meet your dad," Conner looked over at her parents who both were dancing with one another.

"It is true that if mom hadn't accepted the job we wouldn't be here."

"You've also made the rest of this school year a lot more interesting."

Bay paused as she looked up at the boy. She was sure that even if she hadn't met Conner that the school year for the boy was going to be an interesting one. "Says the former Power Ranger."

"You should talk. Look who your parents are," Conner nodded his head towards the older couple. The two of them had been huddled together most of the night.

"Think we could sneak out of here? I feel like a burger," the girl smiled as she looked at her parents who were distracted by Anton Mercer.

"I could eat."

And there is Chapter 8. I finally had the creative juices flowing to finish this chapter. I'm actually going to be working on finishing the last few chapters. Originally this story wasn't going to be long but real life got in the way and I couldn't update as frequently as I wanted. So enjoy!
