Author- I don't know if I can even call myself an author but here it goes.
Disclaimer!
I don't own anything, all of this is JK Rowling's. Also this is my first fic on this site so bare with me and my awful grammar and spelling. I am in no way shape or form a professional writer and this is just a hobby. I am also from America, so the only British words I know are from Harry Potter so bare with me. Anyway... here's the next chapter.
Chapter 2-
As Harry and Ginny walked hand in hand to the great hall, dread and guilt started to seep into him. Each step was harder as they approached the massive doorway into the great hall. Ginny must have noticed this and squeezed in reassurance. You're okay. It'll all be over soon. It seemed to say. As they reached the opening Harry braced for the food-throwing, or the Boo! or the familiar Potter Stinks! But all that came was applauds and cheers. It couldn't be for him. It wasn't for him, he reminded himself. It was the name, the "cause" as Ginny said. Shyly, Harry smiled and walked over to the table where familiar family of red-heads stood with the addition of bushy brown and silky blonde. Attempting to prevent teases, Harry assumed, Ginny tried and failed to let go of Harry's hand. He only held tighter. Ginny smiled to herself. Everyone in the great hall trailed Harry with their eyes, itching to stand and walk over to him.
"Hello." Harry said simply to the Weasleys as he sat down. The faces staring back at him give him weak smiles or sad looks.
It was Mrs. Weasley who spoke first, "No rush Harry, but we would like to know what happen."
Charlie leaned forward and stage whispered, "She wants you to tell us how you're alive" Weak laughs and smiles went around the table.
"Of course, I was planning to get you guys and the minister together and explain everything. I've already told Ron, 'Mione, and Ginny," Harry said with his eyes now on his full plate, courtesy to Ginny. When he looked up all eyes were on him and Ginny, save for Fleur and Hermione. Harry's cheeks had a pink tint to them, but Ginny took pride in their relationship and kept piling food on his plate. She only stopped when Harry squeezed her hand under the table.
Fred, who hasn't talked yet, leaned over to Bill and said, "Told you, pay up." This earned a few chuckles. Harry looked at Fred with an apologetic look, and Fred in return gave him a sad smile.
It was around two, when Harry managed to get everyone in the Headmistress' office. The Weasleys (Hermione and Fleur and Angelina included), Minister Shacklebot, Neville and Luna. Professor Mcgonagall offered the head seat but Harry politely declined. He sat and explained everything, as he had this morning. Throughout the story, many asked questions that Harry could not bring himself to answer but his friends and family understood. When he was done all of the gathered filed out to do other tasks. But before they left everyone gave the trio hugs. Harry thought to himself that, he loved this part the most. If he had to go back to the life he had in the cupboard under the stairs, he would miss these hugs the most. A feeling of belonging. Being loved. As the trio started to leave following the others. The minister called them back.
"Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny I need to discuss a few matters with you." The 4 looked at each other and sat down in chairs in from of the minister of magic. Harry kept his hand on his wand, it was a reflex at this point. Not a threat.
"First off, I heard that you two would like to become Aurors." Shacklebot said with a twinge of pride in his eyes while looking at Harry and Ron.
"I cannot speak for Ron, Minister, but yes, I would like to become a Auror." Harry said, sitting straighter. The minister nodded and faced Ron.
"Well, I'm-I'm not that skilled when it co-" Ron started before Harry interrupted.
"Oh, yes you are. You know, if I've learned anything from Ginny yelling at me all day is to not be too hard on yourself. Ron, you sacrificed yourself for the greater good when you were ELEVEN. Eleven! You are more than skilled to be an Auror." Harry ranted. The girls sat back in their chairs since Harry got to lecture Ron first.
"Well, I guess. But my grades aren't that good, I guess 'Mione could help me with that." A nod from Hermione.
'Well that brings us to my offer. If returning 7th years or upcoming 7th years want to become Aurors and have fought in this war they will automatically have an Outstanding in Defense Against the Dark Arts N.E.W.T.S. But along with that they must have 4 other passing N.E.W.T.S." The minister continues, "Both of you have the requirements, so instead of going back to Hogwarts this September you will go to Auror training, if you would choose to do so."
Harry and Ron looked back at their significant other and with a nod from both girls the boys turned back and repeated the nod to the minister.
"Great! You will get the information mid-June. Now, Ms. Granger, you have an exceeding amount of N.E.W.T.S to go into any profession. That being said, I have seen your work with the rights of House Elfs and would like for you to join us next year at the ministry in the Magical Creature Rights department. With Umbridge and Voldemort occupying the ministry for some time, we will need extra hands restoring and improving the department." the minister finished with a smile.
"I-I mean that would be great, but I still have so much to learn." Hermione stuttered.
"Oh, hush up Hermione, you're smarter than those two by a whole lot and THEY got into Auror training. You can definitely go into this position and be the best. Plus it's experience." Ginny said.
"I'm offended a little, but she's right" Ron said with a mock shock. Hermione smiled looking at all of them.
"Ok, I'll do it!" Hermione said happily.
"And last but certainly not least, Ms. Weasley, Mrs. Hans would like a word with you." Harry just noticed the woman standing behind the minister.
"Oh, please call me Renia." The woman said with a cheery voice. She had an American accent, more southern, Harry assumed, "Anyway, I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Ginny you are an amazing Quittich player, and the Holyhead Harpies would be honored for you to join us next season as a reserve chaser. I know its just reserve bu-" Renia couldn't finish as Ginny ran and hugged her.
"YES! Yes!" Ginny said with glee. The Holyhead Harpies had always been her favorite team.
"Well, alright then." Renia said with a smile. "I will get everything together and you can join us at our summer training camp the week of Independence day" Ginny's face scrunched in confusion. "Oh, I forgot you don't have that here. It's an American holiday, the week of July 4th" Renia explained. Her and Ginny walked out of the room chatting away about the team.
"Also, Hermione, from what I have heard, your parents are in Australia." A blush from Hermione. "The week after next everything will be ready for you three to go and bring them home. And a ministry worker will get with you and teach you the reversal spell to bring back their memories."
"Oh, that's wonderful! Thank you minister" Hermione said with glee. Harry would bet his cloak that Hermione already knew the spell very well.
'Now that all of that is taken care of I need to speak with Ron and Harry privately" The minister said. Hermione nodded and walked out of the room and shutting the door behind her.
"This has to do with a few wills." The minister said, face going solemn. "I take that both of you know Dobby the House Elf?"
"The free elf" Harry said quietly.
"Yes, well, Dobby being an elf with possessions of his own, he deemed it fit to write a will." The minister handed a small piece of paper across the desk. Harry opened it up and him and Ron read:
To Master Harry and his Weezy
The minister pointed his wand under the desk and levitated a trunk in front of Harry and Ron. Harry stood and opened it. Inside was piles and piles of socks and hats. Harry and Ron laughed. One tear slid down Harry's cheek. Not sure if to laugh or cry, Ron put his arm around Harry and they stood there looking at the trunk.
"Hey, mate, I know you loved him a whole lot. You can have my half." Ron said with his arm around him. Harry barked out a laugh.
"Definitely not because you don't want a thousand socks and hats."
"I would never" Ron said putting a hand over his heart in mock shock.
"Thanks Ron"
"Anytime, mate"
"I need to speak with Harry about a couple of things...privately." The minister said.
"Alright, alright, I get the hint." Ron said, levitating the trunk. "I'll put this in the dormitory."
After Ron was gone, Harry turned to the minister and wiped away his tear.
"As you know Remus and Tonks didn't make it," Sadness rushed into the minister's face as it probably did Harry's. "They left everything to Teddy and Andromeda. And Teddy will go to Andromeda but Remus and Tonks wanted you to be the father figure in his life." Another tear slid down Harry's cheek as he nodded in determination. The minister handed two pieces of paper to Harry. he opened the first:
Harry,
If Tonks and I do not survive this battle, I would like you to be there for Teddy unlike how me and Sirius were there for you. Do not blame yourself for our deaths, we were fighting for a better world for Teddy as well as for you.
With love,
Remus
Harry folded the letter and slipped it into his pocket and opened the second.
Dear Harry,
If you put Nymphadora on my tombstone I will haunt you and kick your ass in the afterlife.
Sincerely,
Tonks
Harry let out a sad laugh. "Thank you minister." A sad nod from him as Harry turned and left, wiping his single tear away. As he descended the staircase he turned the corner and bumped into George.
"Hey, Harry I was wanting to bump into you." George said nervously. "You've died..."
Harry didn't know what he was getting at, "I have" He said calmly.
"...does it- Do you think Freddie was in pain? Does...Does dying hurt?" asked George. Harry gave him a sad smile.
"It's quicker and easier than falling asleep." Harry said reassuringly. George looked relieved. He smiled weakly and walked away.
Harry walked back to the common room and as he walked in Luna was sitting on the floor with kids from all houses around her, and a stick and poke in her hand. Currently tattooing Ginny, Harry sighed and sat next to Ginny waiting for his turn.
