This isn't the chapter I had planned for this week but the other one didn't seem ready yet, so I hope you enjoy this one. I said at the start of this fic that it was based off 'Ps I love you' and 'Postscript' by Cecilia Ahern, so if anyone has read the books or has seen the movie, I think it will start making a bit more sense in this chapter. If not it will definitely make more sense in chapters to come. Anyway, mistakes are mine and I hope you enjoy chapter 13!

Rachel starred at the clock on the wall, watching the handles move slightly every sixty seconds. She felt lightheaded as she awaited Kurt's arrival, knowing today was officially the end of their mini master plan they had been working tirelessly on for the past six months. A plan that Rachel made sure would last a lifetime. Even as she grew weaker, she had insisted on hand writing every single letter herself.
"A typed letter won't feel as special Kurt!" She had complained when Kurt suggested it several weeks ago.
"Just remember that this child is a mixture of your DNA and Finn's. Two people who tend to look past finer details."
Rachel simply rolled her eyes at his statement. Her daughter might not pay attention to the fact that her mother wrote hundreds of letter within a number of months, all by hand, but what if she did?
It was never Rachel's plan to let Kurt in on her secret. From the beginning she always knew she'd ask her dad Hiram, on his last visit, knowing he'd be grateful for the distraction. She had almost been caught so many times. Once by Finn, which she easily lied about telling him it was the shopping list. Three times by Santana, thankfully being able to hide her notebook before the other girl could notice, and countless times by numerous different doctors, porters and nurses. But it was Kurt who had been able to read between the lines. It didn't help that the letter she had suspiciously slipped under her blanket was addressed to him. Although it wasn't what she had planned, she was grateful that Kurt was there for the last few months helping her out whenever she was stuck on what to say, or who to send a letter to on those rare occasions she had written a letter to nobody in particular.
Rachel heard Kurt tap on the door three times, breaking her from her thoughts. He slipped in the door and made himself comfortable in the chair positioned next to her bed. Their meetings were carefully planned, always making sure Finn was nowhere near by as they discussed the letters, with help from a nurse, Kassie, who somehow managed to distract Finn each time he came back to Rachel's room.
"I'm not taking no for an answer, that damn letter better be ready." He warned.
"It is." She scolded as she reluctantly handed over the sealed envelope with tears in her eyes.
"Rach no. No tears or you'll get me started." Kurt sniffled which set Rachel off even more.
"I'm sorry. I've just... I've been holding onto these letters for the past few months, like they're the tiny piece of me that's still hanging on before the rest of me is gone. Now I've finished the letters and I'm saying bye to you, I'll go into labour in a few days and that'll be the end with Finn. I can't leave him, I love him too much but there's nothing I can do. The clock is ticking and I'm not ready." She wept and leaned into Kurt's arms as he joined her on the bed. He wasn't expecting her to be this upset, he thought she was excited about giving Finn a new adventure. But as he looked down at the sobbing girl, it dawned on him that she was putting off writing the letter because she knew the last letter meant the end of her life.
"Sorry, I'm a mess. I guess no matter how hard I try, no matter how much I fight, our story just doesn't have a happy ending."
"It's not bad to cry Rach. You have every right to feel like this. In fact, I think crying makes a person stronger. And although I can't even begin to imagine what your going through, in a way I understand." He paused. "Remember back in glee club, Mr Shue used to tell us how anything is possible if we chase our dreams? Well, here we are, looking the impossible right in its face. While it may be impossible to move on from here, and the rest of us will never move on once you're not here, we all know what you chased your dreams and made them a reality. You made it through college, made it to broadway, married your true love. You've accomplished a lot more than you think, Ms Berry. You're sensational."
At some point between glee club and broadway, Kurt had completely lost it and was weeping along with Rachel. Kassie had walked in with Rachel's lunch and also had a few tears streaming down her cheeks by the end of Kurt's speech.
"Thank you Kurt. And you'll promise to look after everybody?" Rachel asked as she tried to wipe her face, yet her eyes were still flooded with tears.
"Of course. I'll be there for them, and for you. I love you."
"I love you too. And, just... take this and put it somewhere you'll see everyday. This was a special day." She stammered as she handed him a photo. The two of them smiling into the camera the day Kurt surprised her a NYADA. There was a small note written on the back of the picture.
Some friends last a week, some a month, some a few years. You're the friend of a lifetime and I'm so lucky to have you. Thank you for making me feel special on the tough days, and well, everyday. I love you, Rachel.
"This was a really special day for me too." He whispered as she stared at the photo. The smiling faces reminding him of happier times.
"Don't forget about me. I love you." Rachel says softly as Kurt began making his way to the door.
"I couldn't if I tried. I know you'll be watching, but I promise each and every letter will be delivered to wherever it needs to go. I love you." He said before rushing over and planting a small kiss on her forehead and leaving her hospital room.
