This Night

Chapter 157

Author's Note: I hate when characters talk over one another. I know that I need to give you all attention so hush! Anyway, please review.

Summer, Joey, Lizzie, Tyreese, and Molly's POV:

Summer grimaced as they walked. "I need to stop for a bit," she said as she leaned on a tree. "Hey ladybug, what's all that fussing about huh?" she asked as Ty held her.

"She's going to attract the walkers!" Molly said.

Joey glanced at Tyreese. "We got to get under cover," he said quietly to the other man. "Summer's hurting more then she's saying, the longer that bullet stays in, the better the chance of infection. And we don't have anything to fight an infection out here. And Judith's crying is going to attract walkers," he said softly.

"We may have to take the chance to get the bullet out here, wrap it the best we can," Tyreese responded. "We may have to have the girls stand guard," he added.

"You think they can handle it? Molly's scared of her shadow and Lizzie's just plane scary," Joey told him.

"We may not have much of a choice, we don't do it, the infection may kill Summer," Tyreese pointed out.

Molly ran up to them. "Tyreese they're coming! Do you hear that?"

Joey listened. "It sounds like people. May be more from the prison," he said as Lizzie helped Summer limp over to them.

"We got to go help them," Summer said.

"You can't help them, Summer, you've been shot," Molly said.

"She's right. Tyreese and I'll go," Joey said as he took Judith from Tyreese. "Summer go back against that tree. Girls come here."

Tyreese nodded. "Molly where's your knife? I need you to put it in front of your shirt for easy access. Now the two of you are going to stay here and protect Summer and Judith. What do you do when you see a walker?"

"Run," both said.

Tyreese nodded. "Toward Joey and I," he said as he broke a thick branch and sat it beside Summer. "This will help you if you need to run."

"You alright to hold Judy?" Joey asked.

Summer nodded and took her as she took her knife in her other hand. "Girl power," she said as she adjusted Judy.

"Please don't leave us," Molly begged.

Lizzie looked at her. "We can do this, Molly."

Summer looked at Molly. "Hey Molly, look at me. You are stronger then you think and braver then you know. We're all alive right now because we are strong and brave, so we just have to watch out for each other until they get back. We are going to be fine. We work together, we protect each other. That's how it has to be these days."

"But I'm scared," Molly admitted.

"Mika got scared and she's not alive right now," Lizzie pointed out.

Summer gave her the Dixon glare. "Lizzie, stop that right now. You don't know that. You disobeyed adults by not being on that bus.. I'm not going to forget that. It was reckless and stupid and you could have gotten yourself and Molly killed. But right now, Molly is still alive and it doesn't matter if she's scared or not. Being scared means we're alive," she said as she heard more screaming. "Go," she told Tyreese and Joey. Summer kissed Judith's cheek. "Shh I know, but you're safe, and you're loved. Yes, we're going to find mommy and baby brother or sister to be, and Carl and dad. Yes we are," she told the baby.

"Even if they died, they'll come back," Lizzie said.

Summer held Judith a bit closer to her as she looked at Lizzie. "Lizzie, right now I need you to concentrate on the task at hand. You understand me?"

"Yes," Lizzie answered.

Joey and Tyreese's POV:

Tyreese looked over at Joey. "Real glad to have found someone else so soon."

Joey nodded. "Yeah me too. How did you wind up with Judith, Lizzie and Molly?"

"I was pinned down by two of the Governor's people, one of them fell, then Lizzie shot the woman, right in the head. Before I knew it they were running the opposite way from the bus, I went and followed them and they grabbed Judith out of her carrier," Tyreese explained. "Why were you outside the fences?"

"I had wanted to bury the people from Woodbury, to give them the respect that they never really got. He snuck up on me, then he took Michonne and Hershel later. Hershel didn't deserve that," Joey said.

"No one deserves that," Tyreese said as he heard more screaming.

"That sounded like it was coming from where we just left," Joey said. "Not the exact spot, but close," he said.

Tyreese turned and ran back them seeing Carol having shot a walker. "Carol," Tyreese said as he hugged her and the girls came running with Summer behind them.

"Carol…" Summer said as she looked at her.

"Are you alright?" Carol asked her.

Summer blinked. "Yeah…been shot."

"We'll have to take care of that," Carol said as she hugged her. "Joey."

"Carol," Joey greeted as he hugged her and exchanged a look with Summer.

"Girls," Carol said as both of them hugged her.

"I didn't see you get out.."Tyreese started to say.

Summer and Carol looked at each other. "Dad, Carol and I found an extra car while we were out. Carol volunteered to drive it back, look for more supplies," Summer explained.

Carol nodded. "Just took me longer then I thought," she said as she took Judith from Summer.

"Did you see it?" Tyreese asked.

"Saw the end, then I saw you running in the woods with the girls. You were far away, and I didn't see Joey and Summer," Carol said.

"But you found us, I knew you would," Lizzie said.

"Where's Mika?" Carol asked.

"We don't know, she might have gotten on the bus like she was supposed to," Joey said as he glanced at Lizzie.

"Maybe we can go back and get your car," Tyreese told her.

Carol shook her head. "Between the walkers and the fire, you can't go back to a graveyard."

"Look," Molly said as she pointed to a sign.

"Terminus. Sanctuary for all. Community for all. Those who arrive survive," Lizzie said.

Joey looked at Ty. "We heard something like that on the radio."

"Yeah some kind of broadcast," Tyreese agreed.

That night:

Carol and Summer POV:

Summer got up from where she was laying on the ground and went over to Carol. "Mind company?"

Carol shook her head as she held Judith. "No," she said as she touched her head. "You're feeling a bit warm. You feeling alright? The bandage is going to need to be changed in the morning," she told her.

"Yeah, don't think I'm going to die and turn," Summer said. "Carol, why did you help me?"

"You're family, not going to let you die if I can help it," Carol answered.

"But after what I did….what dad and I did," Summer started as she touched Judith's head.

Carol shook her head. "You did what you thought was best," she said.

"Just like you did," Summer said.

"Just like I did," Carol answered.

Summer looked over to where Tyreese was sleeping. "He doesn't know."

"Guess Rick didn't have the chance to tell him," Carol told her. "Why did you cover for me?"

Summer looked at her. "Because you're family. And you're back where you belong," she said with a smile. "Do you think this Terminus is a real thing?"

"In this day and time, something like that seems to good to be true," Carol answered.

"Yeah, but if others see the signs," Summer said.

Carol nodded. "They might be heading there. But it's going to be a couple days until you can stand on that leg without some pain. We need to get you strong before we even think about taking that hike."

"We check it out before we go in," Summer said.

Carol nodded. "Try to find more weapons. Don't go trusting people," she simply said.

"We need to find something with cover," Summer said.

"Not to mention cloth for Judith's diapers and your wound. You know your mom is going to be alright, Summer. She's strong. She raised you didn't she?" Carol told her as she squeezed her hand.

"I'm glad you're here, Carol," Summer told her.

"I'm glad I'm here too," Carol said.
