Here's chapter 16! I know I've been bad at updating recently but like I said a few chapters back, I'm having a tiny bit of writers block, and I'm also still shocked and saddened over the news about Naya. I hope you enjoy, all mistakes are mine.

He wasn't ready to see anyone other than Kurt. Kurt said everyone understood, but he still felt awful.
It was they're final day in hospital, and the two brothers sat on the edge of the hospital bed filling in the last few forms.
"Have you decided on godparents yet? There's no rush on anything, It's not even a requirement or anything." Kurt had the baby resting on his lap, his hands supporting her head as Finn scribbled in the last few details so they could head home and adjust to the new normal.
"Yeah, Rachel and I actually decided as soon as we found out she was pregnant. Santana is going to be the godmother. And we were hoping you'd be the godfather."
Kurt blinked back tears and gazed lovingly at his niece. "Well hello there goddaughter, aren't you just beautiful." She whispered to the baby. Her eyes were wide open again, however was starting to nod off.
"I'll take that as a yes." Finn said with a small laugh.
"Ok, the only thing left is her name." He looks at Kurt who was looking down at the baby. He knew this was the difficult part. Especially since he has gotten pretty attached to 'baby'.
"Did you and Rachel talk about names?" Kurt asked, trying to come up with some names in his head. Nothing he thought of seemed good enough for her. He couldn't speak for anyone else, but Kurt had secretly been preparing himself for the worst. Although the thought of neither Rachel or the baby making it had been awful to think about, he was worried it may happen. Now that the baby was here and healthy, it seemed like nothing was good enough for their little miracle.
"Not really. We talked about it a little bit at the start, but after Rachel was diagnosed that seemed to be the least of our problems." Finn sighed and took the baby from Kurt.
"What's your name?" He asked in a goofy voice as she gave a huge yawn. He laughed and lay her down in the bassinet, the only thing they had left to put in the car.
"I want Rachel to be her middle name. That's a definite. I know when we did talk about it, Rachel liked more traditional names, whereas I liked modern names."
"Remember when you wanted to call Quinn's baby 'Drizzle'? I'm with Rachel on traditional names." Kurt laughed and imagined 'Drizzle Rachel Hudson.' Just the thought of it was enough to make him cringe.
"Ok so that wasn't my best idea. Have any ideas? What will the Anderson-Hummels be called?" Finn asked. I really miss her right now. He thought. She would have taken one look at her and thought of the perfect name.
"Blaine and I have very different taste in names. Personally I like Tracie and Rosemary, Rosie for short. Blaine's a little more out there with his choices. Just think of names you like I guess."
Finn sighed. "I want it to be something Rachel would like too, you know? Maybe I could choose something traditional and make it modern. Ugh... I just wish she was here to help me with this one. This is one of those decisions that matters."
Kurt looked at Finn with hopeful eyes. "Your sure there's nothing you like? You definitely need help?"
"I'm totally lost." He replied with a shrug, as he watched Kurt pull a crumpled piece of paper out of his coat pocket.
"I don't think this counts as an official letter, but she made you a list of names she thought you'd both like. Before I give it to you, your 100% sure there's nothing that's jumping out at you?"
Finn shook his head and Kurt handed him the list. The sight of her handwriting was still so comforting.
I knew you'd need a little help, but don't base the name off something you think I'd like. I want you to adore the name and be happy about it. I'd hate to see you choose a name you don't like just because you think I'd like it. Go with your gut!
My personal favourites are:
Theodora (Teddy)
Ellen (Ella or Ellie)
Elaine (Lainey)
Alexandra (Alex)
Anna
Finn stopped reading. The last name on the list was perfect. He read it and looked down at his daughter as she blew small bubbles in her mouth while she slept, and something in him clicked. He quickly finished reading the letter before settling on the same and telling Kurt, but he knew that it was perfect.
But Finn, please promise me that you'll choose another name if you don't like any of these. These are just the names I've loved since I was little, but this is your decision. Choose wisely... But don't give her something she'll hate you for in years to come. I think we all remember the Drizzle incident!
Until the next one,
Rachel x
"I've got it!" Finn announced as he placed the letter in his shirt pocket, making a mental note to find a safe place to keep all the letters. They'd be nice for the baby to look at when she's older.
"You're really building up the suspense here, just tell me!" Kurt begged.
Finn cleared his throat, hoping Kurt liked the name.
"Gracie. Gracie Hudson." Finn smiled. The name rolled off his tongue so easily.
"Gracie Rachel Hudson. It's beautiful, I love it." Kurt beamed and stood up so he was looking over the cream bassinet.
"It's perfect. Rachel, like I said, was all about the traditional names. Gracie is like Grace, but with a modern twist." Finn said as he filled in her name on the form.
It felt as though a weight had been lifted off his chest as the completed the papers. He couldn't wait to bring Gracie home and get out of the hospital. The amount of bad memories he had here made him want to drive away from this place and never come back.
Between the two of them, Finn and Kurt managed to disassemble the bassinet and strap Gracie safely into her car seat, which she was surprisingly fine with. In fact, she barley flinched as Finn fumbled with the confusing straps.
"My dad and your mom are at your apartment. They forgot their spare key so they're just parked outside. I haven't had an update from Hiram and LeRoy in a while, so I'd say they're trying to give you space for the time being." Kurt informed Finn as he got into the drivers seat, while Finn remained in the back with Gracie.
"Can you tell Hiram and LeRoy they're free to come over whenever they're ready? I think that's the maximum amount of people I'm willing to face today." Finn sighed as he wrapped his arm around the car seat, despite there already being two seatbelts secured around the bulky chair.
"Looks like someone's already an overprotective dad." Kurt laughed into the review mirror at Finn actions.
Finn smiled, but didn't meet Kurt's gaze. He couldn't take his eyes of Gracie. Considering she was just over 24 hours old, she already had a head of thin, dark hair. He had also inherited her mothers tanned skin, along with her fathers freckles.
"Everyone's alright with holding off for a couple of days, right?" Finn asked nervously, still not taking his eyes off his dozing daughter.
"Off course, everyone completely understands. Artie, Tina, Mercedes and Sam are still in New York so there's no rush. Everyone else is also flying in for..." Kurt trailed off, unsure how to approach the topic of a funeral.
"I want it over and done with as soon as possible. Rachel didn't love the idea of funeral's, so it won't be anything epic. Maybe a short ceremony at the church and back to a hotel for a meal?"
Finn knew he had to put in the effort to give Rachel a nice send off, even if neither of them loved the idea. He knew many others wanted to pay their respects. He was still dreading it. The last 24 hours had been a nightmare, and he knew the funeral may break him.
"You'll be surprised to know Santana is sorting it all out for you. Cost and everything. She's not coping well so I think she's using it as a distraction. Albeit, a weird distraction." Kurt said as he made the turn for Finn's apartment.
"God, I'm not letting her pay for it. Tell her not to worry about it." Finn thought of Santana forking out thousands of dollars. No way. Not happening.
"Don't bother arguing. Blaine and I had a huge argument with her about it because we wanted to split the cost. She went insane. I guess it's just her way of grieving. She was also wondering about the eulogy. She thought-"
"I don't mind who does it, so long as I don't have to. I wouldn't get through it." Finn mumbled just loud enough for Kurt to hear.
"Even if you wanted to do it, nobody expects you to get through it. You owe nothing to anyone. Santana said if your not up for it she'd like to do it." Kurt hated the idea of Finn at the funeral trying to hold himself together. Nobody would judge him, he just wished Finn would believe that.
"Kurt, you're sure everyone's cool with me wanting to wait a couple of days? I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea and be offended and-"
"Finn." Kurt cut him off. "You lost your wife less than 24 hours ago, and have a newborn. Everyone completely understands. Things take time, and you haven't had it easy over the past nine months. Like I said, nobody expects anything from you. Except maybe a picture of that gorgeous girl. Everyone's desperate to see her."
Finn removed his phone from his pocket, ignoring the abundance of messages he had waiting and went straight to the camera, snapping a picture of Gracie, who remained fast asleep, blowing small bubbles as she breathed in and out.
She was wearing a pink piglet romper, and was wrapped in the baby blanket Mercedes bought when she came to say her goodbyes, with 'Baby Hudson' stitched into the corner.
"Kurt, thanks for everything. I'd be lost without you right now." Finn said in a low voice. He knew he'd need to adjust to things on his own eventually, but he was grateful to be getting the extra help from his brother.
"No need to thank me. I guess this is taking my mind off things, helping you. I should be thanking you." Kurt looked into the review mirror and saw Finn fighting tears.
Kurt parked the car and began helping transport all the things from the car to the apartment. He was holding the bassinet in one hand and Rachel's hospital bag in the other, as he watched Finn search for his keys while holding the car seat.
Finn looked up as he he door of the apartment unlock. Burt greeted him with an awkward side hug due to all the things he was holding.
"Burt, hey...I-I thought you guys forgot your keys what's-"
"Just go inside!" Kurt interrupted as a small smile formed on his face.
Finn followed Burt into the apartment, walking down the hallway to the spare bedroom. The last time he stepped into the room to ditch the large box the crib arrived in. Burt opened the door to reveal a fully decorated nursery, complete with baby pink walls, the huge white crib, play matts, bean bags, a rocking chair. Everything he could have ever imagined to be in the nursery was there.
He placed Gracie's car seat gently onto the play mat, dumping the remainder o the bags on the changing table.
Carol had been standing by the crib as Finn walked in, and quickly raced over to him as he put his head in his hands and his shoulders began to shake. She too was quietly crying as she hugged him as he continued to sob.
After a few moments he wiped his eyes and took another look around the room, before heading down and unbuckling Gracie from her seat, holding her close to his chest.
"Thank you, guys. Thank you so much." He sniffed and made his way over to a framed picture on the wall. A picture of him and Rachel on the beach, just before she began going downhill. He was carrying her bridal style, with one of his hands placed on her bump as he carried her.
"I love it so much, Rachel would too. It's just...it's incredible." He whispered.
"Welcome home Gracie."
