Author- I don't know if I can even call myself an author but here it goes.
Disclaimer!
I don't own anything, all of this is JK Rowling's. Also this is my first fic on this site so bare with me and my awful grammar and spelling. I am in no way shape or form a professional writer and this is just a hobby. I am also from America, so the only British words I know are from Harry Potter so bare with me. Also, as I said at the beginning, this fic is a combination of a bunch of head-canons and ideas that I've seen on Pinterest. So some of the points or conversations in the story are not original. I decided to put them all together.
ALSO! the story is going to be altering a bit. Every chapter will be events rather than everyday life. So for example, Christmas', birthdays, weddings, etc. Hope this is okay.
Anyway... here's chapter 10!
Chapter 10-
Harry POV-
As Harry and Ginny walked hand in hand up the steps of Andromeda's house they could hear commotion going on inside. Ginny, bursting with excitement, practically ran to the front door. As Harry walked up beside her she knocked thrice on the door. A 'Come in!' sounded. The teens stepped inside the house and were immediately greeted by a rainbow haired child with equally bright colors smeared across his face. Ginny laughed as she picked up Teddy.
"Gin Gin." Teddy said, pulling on Ginny's hair, as his own turned a similar shade.
"Hi Teddy," Ginny said with a huge smile, "It looks like you got into the markers." As if remembering, Teddy's hair turned back to rainbow. He twisted and turned in Ginny's arms until she put him down and took off down the hall. Harry and Ginny walked down the hall searching for Andromeda. Ginny called out and was answered by a clash of pots and pans in the kitchen. As the couple turned the corner they found andromeda attempting to wipe the marker off of Teddy's face and pick up the fallen pans. Ginny and Harry rushed to help her.
"Oh! Hello, Harry. Ginny. I was about to call Molly to see where you guys were."
"Yes, we got held up, but were here now," Ginny said with a forced smile. Andromeda looked at the expression and look concerned at Harry. He rolled his eyes and smiled. Andromeda would know the expression Ginny wore, Tonks had a similar temper and the expression was well known to andromeda. With a small laugh andromeda gave Teddy to Harry and started to pick up the fallen dishes.
"Oh let me help you Andromeda." Ginny bent to help pick up the dishes. Harry turned to Teddy to find a black haired, green eyed baby. Harry jumped in surprised and Teddy burst out laughing, changing his hair back to the trademarked neon blue hair.
"Hey Teddy," Teddy look at Harry with a huge smile, "Are those marker marks on your face real or fake." Teddy smiled a devious smile and the marks on his face disappeared.
"Nymphadora used to do that all the time. Scared the life out of me when she came home with fake tattoos all over her face." Andromeda said with a smile that turned sad the memory. The three were solumn for a moment.
"Andromeda, if you knew the trick why were you trying to wipe the marks off Teddy's face?" Ginny asked trying to change the mood.
With a smile she repiled, "If the trickster doesn't think the trick has worked then the trick lasts until it does." The three laughed and Teddy, joined in to laugh just to laugh which made the adults laugh more.
As the laughing died down andromeda shot up, untieing her apron, "Oh I'm late for my brunch!" She started rushing around trying to find the things she needed while Harry, Ginny, and Teddy stood still watching her. "Have fun you three!" Thump. The door closed and the three were alone.
"So Teddy, what do you want to do?" Ginny asked. With a mischievous smile Teddy grabbed her hand led her outside.
After a hour of running around with Teddy, they were all on the couch. Teddy was asleep on Ginny who was leaning on Harry playing with the boy's hair.
"I love you," was all Harry said. Ginny hummed in response. "I know you wanted to make a good impression and everything but you should've let Uncle Vernon talk to you that way."
"I know. And I know that sometimes I need to say things and sometimes you do. I really do hate them with all my heart but Dudley at least seems nice."
Harry kissed her head, "I love you," he repeated.
"I love you too." At her words they were wrapped in a comfortable silence.
After awhile Harry voiced his thoughts. "Ginny, I want this."
"Well, my mum made this sweater but if it means that much to you then-" Harry flicked her nose.
"I was talking about- I don't know how to explain it. I want this. Sitting here with you, with a-" Harry stopped talking afraid to say more, "Nevermind."
"I want that too," Ginny whispered. She was looking up at him as Harry slowly brought his mouth to hers. They shared small silent kissed until Teddy shifted positions. Harry and Ginny, as one, turned to him with terrified expressions. The thought of having to "color" again made them shudder with fear. But Teddy just went back to his slumber. A joined sigh of relief came out of the teens.
Another silenced followed until Ginny spoke this time, "What's next." Following quickly with an explanation, "I mean I know you, Ron, and 'Mione go to the ministry and I go to the Pitch but are we just going to live at the Burrow forever. I love my mum but she's a little overbearing." Harry laughed quietly at the truth of her words.
"Well I was thinking of buying a big flat in London for all of us to live in. I wouldn't want to go back to Grimauld place. Not yet anyway."
"You know Ron would never let you buy him a flat." Ginny laughed.
"That's why I'm going to bring it up on my birthday so that he can't refuse." Another laugh from Ginny.
"Mum and Dad won't let us live together."
"Ok so I know it's not a thought out plan but you don't have to hate on it." Harry laughed at himself, but the amusement faded at Ginny's serious face.
"I love this plan. If you don't think I don't want to get out of that Burrow for one second you've got another thing com-" She only stopped when Harry put his index finger over her lips. Her expression turned soft, the quiet before the storm. She licked his finger so he pulled back his hand to wipe on his jumper.
"Harry freakin' Potter if you try to shush me again I will personally mur-" Harry's panicked expression finally got her to shut up when Teddy started to stir. Harry looked at her with a if you wake up this child you have to deal with him look. Ginny responded with a certain finger held up in the air. Teddy went back to sleep. Harry felt like their luck would only go so far.
"Anyway," Harry started, albeit quieter, "I was think of buying a flat for all of us to stay in until one of us would want to move out. If your folks don't want us to stay in the same flat then I'll just get two." Ginny hummed in agreement, going back to toying with the upside down child laying next to her. Harry felt so lucky to have them in his life. A wave of sadness swept over him. He knew one day he would have to tell Teddy about his parents. One thought led to another and Harry felt numb to all the loss and resentment he felt towards himself.
Ginny POV-
Andromeda had come home to a sleeping Teddy and thanked Harry and her multiple times for taking care of him. Harry gave small smiles and forced laughs. As they returned home to the Burrow Harry excused himself to their shared room. After awhile of visiting with her parents Ginny went up to said room, deciding Harry had enough time on his own. It was selfish, but she had grown lonely without him. A stupid thing to worry about really. She could survive on her own. But it would be so dull.
Finally winning the battle she was having with herself she knocked lightly and went into their room.
He was sitting on the small window ledge looking out the window. She strode over and placed an arm around him.
"Tell me." These words always made him talk. She thought it awful but knew he needed to tell her. Or did she just want to know?
"It feels wrong." He murmured. Ginny went on alert, looking out the window for any danger.
"No I mean- being here. Being safe and happy. It feels wrong. So many deaths and tragedies have happened around me and I didn't know when I stopped mourning. I feel like all these happy moments are stolen and I'm just going to shut down. I love you all so much and I can't believe that we got out. I feel selfish that I'm happy, that I can go anywhere, do anything. I lost everyone. Everyone Ginny. And I was sitting there happy. I loved my life. I-" He paused, swallowing. "I've never wanted anything more than a normal life. And now- now I want a normal life with you. A life with a house and a dog and kids. I want to be happy and safe. I want our children to be safe in this world and see magic how I saw it the first time Hagrid took me to Diagon ally." He looked up at me with tears in his eyes, "But- do I deserve it. I've caused so many deaths. I've lied, to you. To Hermione and Ron. To everyone. " He put his head in his hands. "I lost everyone, and I felt...happy."
Ginny sat down in front of him. "Sometimes, I feel like I'm a bother. Like everything I do is making everyone's life's harder. I act all loud and confident but everyday I feel like I'm a waste of space. Sometimes I would just say 'You know what, I don't care' to myself but, it wouldn't change the fact that I felt like everyone wanted me gone. There were girls in our year that thought that and I didn't care because I was proud to be with you. I wouldn't allow people to think down on me because of you because you are more than I could ask for." I took his hands away from his face. "I always felt that no one would listen to me, that my thoughts were stupid and no one cared. I always thought it was because of this big family. But being with you," I wiped a tear, "I realized that having a family, we could make sure that our children, and dog," I said with a smile, "would never feel that way. It's okay to be happy. We'll always be sad for the ones we lost but they would want us to be happy. And you didn't loose everyone. I'm still here and I'm a goddamn miracle." A small laugh from Harry.
"A thought for a thought, I suppose." Was all he said.
"Precisely!" Ginny said, jumping up. Holding up her arm showing off her magical tattoo. "Now, get your ass up, it's perfect weather for a game." She turned and skipped out of the room yelling for Ron and her brothers still at the house to get on the field ASAP. Harry laughed, drying his tears, and followed the love of his life down the stairs.
Author- UGH I KNOW GUYS. It's been sooo long. When was the last time I updated? July? August? My soul. *me wailing in the distance* But I'm trying to update more. Starting now. In my defense I got a dog AND school, so I mean... anyway, please tell me what you want from this story because I'm writing this to incorporate all the things that were left out of the other stories that I wanted. So please please please recommend what should happen. I'm definitely not out of ideas. *nervous laughter* no really I have a lot of plans but the more ideas the longer this is. Until next time...
