CHAPTER SIX - PART ONE

Hazardous Friendship Option

"Denki, good morning!"

'Mm…' Denki thought before smiling awkwardly to the boy. "Good morning, Shouto."

'It was my fault for calling him with his given name first, but that was because I wasn't supposed to know his surname. And now, on our second meeting, he's dropping the honorific?' Denki thought, wanting to crawl somewhere and forget everything.

Shouto was a nice kid, to be honest. He's not an extreme case like Izuku and Katsuki, and Shouto is actually really smart that Denki felt like he could hold a proper conversation with him. The only thing that's holding him back is the fact that he had zero wish to deal with the boy's father and the upcoming family drama that's going to happen. The boy is okay, but his father is not and Denki doesn't look forward to meeting him at all. That intense and stubborn-as-hell ogre.

Nobody in their right mind would want to meet Endeavor. Period.

"I can't believe that we're also in the same class," the boy said, fairly cheerful.

Denki decided to push aside his concerns for now. This cute and adorable Shouto didn't need to be concerned about his secret worries. He would think about it when the boy isn't around, since Shouto was also portrayed as perceptive.

"Yep. It's like fate, it's not funny," Denki mused.

It was, like fate.

"I don't care how it happened. I'm just glad I know someone…" Shouto confided quietly. "I didn't go to a kindergarten so I'm quite nervous actually."

Sigh. How can he leave a guy like this?

Now that he thought of it, it was because Shouto was a sensitive person like Izuku that he ended up becoming an emo. If it's Katsuki, he could definitely handle it. That guy always knows what he wants and has never been one to shy away.

"I see," Denki replied as he looked around for the nameplates of the classes. "Well… we didn't do much in kindergarten. Some interesting things did happen to me, but not much else happened."

"Interesting things?"

"Yeah. Hmm… the most recent one is catching a girl who climbed up a tree but couldn't go down when we were playing hide and seek. Thankfully, both of us didn't get hurt," The blonde shared.

That's one more thing to note of all through his kindergarten life, he supposed. He had absolutely no idea that he went to the same kindergarten as Kendou Itsuka until that time when they played hide and seek. There were only forty of them so why.

"That's so interesting…!"

"Maybe. But most of the time, it was just plain headaches. Crying everywhere, soiling underwears… mmh… For one, although it's a bit lonely when I'm alone at home, I'm glad I'm an only child," Denki confessed. "How about you, Shouto?"

The boy tilted his head. "Me? Umm… I have three one oneesan and two oniisan."

"Whoa, must be rough."

Shouto looked at him curiously. "Why?"

Denki paused. 'What's this? Why are we talking so casually? Is this even okay?'

Then he shrugged. "A classmate always had fights with his older brothers. The worst thing was that the brothers are twins and they're just one year older than us, so they're also in kindergarten at the same time."

"Ehh… do brothers usually fight with each other?"

"Of course not. If I have an older brother, I'd do what he wants and get out of his way. Fighting takes energy, you know." He stopped before a door. "We're here. Ready, Shouto?"

The boy stared at the class sign. Class 1-A. He gulped.

"Mm. Please take care of me, Denki."

Denki was frozen still for several seconds.

A very long long sigh escaped his lips.

The blonde realized a lost cause when he saw it. 'Damn it,' he cursed. He was cursing at his easily attached nature. If there was anything obvious he shared with 'Denki', it was this. He's weak to people he likes and once he feels attached, it's even harder to let go.

After a long moment… Denki gave a little nod.

"Yup. Whatever problems you have, I don't mind lending an ear. We're friends. Let's hang out sometime," Denki said, effectively pushing away the more convenient option to look away and pretending to stay oblivious. He found it impossible to do already even if it's the easier path.

"Friends?"

"Aren't we? If you don't want to, then it's fine. I have fun talking with you though."

"I want to, but how do you become friends?"

Golden orbs met mismatched ones.

"You don't do anything. If you're comfortable with someone enough that you can tell them things that you wouldn't usually tell because it makes you feel uncomfortable… and if being in that someone's presence makes you feel relaxed, then you're friends already."

His lips tugged up.

"Because I treat you as a friend, it doesn't mean that you should automatically feel the same way, so don't worry about it," he said in response to Shouto being surprised. "Just so you know, telling someone this much already is already a big deal for me since I prefer being alone."

Then again, by his own definition of 'friends', it meant that Izuku and Katsuki were already that.

Denki wanted to sigh again. It's still early morning and he has been wanting to sigh many times already.

"Kicchan!"

His right eyebrow twitched.

"Don't call me that, Izuku," Denki said.

Why was he calling Izuku by his given name? That's because they found out he had been calling Shouto by 'Shouto' when they came to his area to play and they won't have it!

"Yeah don't call him that. It's disgusting. Better Spiky."

Denki buried his face to his palms. "Don't call me Spiky either! Don't you have a mirror at home, Katsuki? Your hair is even spikier than mine!" He groaned, letting his forehead bump on the table.

*thud*

*chuckle chuckle*

The other ladies and older girls were giggling at them in amusement. It couldn't be helped. The sight of three boys sitting around a cafe table talking about things like this would make for good entertainment.

"Geez… Is this even okay, Mitsuki-neesama?" Denki said, propping his palm on his chin.

It felt weird to call Katsuki's mother who accompanied the two to the area Denki lives as older sister but whatever. The woman looks really young anyway. Moreover, the utterly disgusted look Katsuki was sending him for his address to his mother was hilarious.

"What do you mean, Denki?" Mitsuki asked, sipping on her americano.

"Neesama is a designer so aren't you actually busy? Yet you've accompanied these two three times in a span of Two. Months." Denki groused in irritation, pointing rudely with his index finger to the two in question. Katsuki looked away with his hands behind the back of his head while Izuku poked his index fingers together and looked at his lap.

"Ah, that? It's fine. Going out like this feels refreshing. Besides, what can I do if my cute son politely asked?" The woman asked cheerily.

Denki stared at the woman who sat next to Izuku and then to Katsuki who sat next to him. He stood up abruptly. "We're finished with the drinks right? Fine. Let's spar already!" He complained, pushing the spikier blonde with more strength than needed and making the boy fall on the floor.

"You…" Veins throbbed on Katsuki's face. "What was that for?!"

"Goodness… why can't you be more patient and wait until we're middle schoolers? Tousan already promised to let me go on my own to your place then…" Denki sighed. "If I didn't know any better I'd have thought you're a muscle brain."

"Sadly, Kacchan is smarter than me," Izuku mumbled to himself, sipping the last of his cold chocolate beverage.

"Yeah, sadly he's smarter than me too," Denki said, his gaze was chilling enough that it could freeze the interior of the cafe. "So unacceptable. Why is a guy like this smarter than me?"

Of course, Denki never studied except for history, but considering that he has learnt all of the materials and it's just elementary level, Katsuki is pretty much a genius.

"The he-

"Let me tell you that you're going to regret troubling Mitsuki-neesama," Denki said, interrupting Katsuki on purpose.

He wished he didn't see how Izuku was looking at him like he's a god. Because he couldn't unsee it, he spoke up, "Let's have a fu~n spar too, Izuku."

Izuku went from all sparkly to a look of horror. Chocolate liquid slid down from the corner of his lips and was caught by Mitsuki with a napkin. "M-M- Me too?" She looked really really amused.

"Oh I don't know. I made it my mission to see that you grow a spine. Ah, I joined a karate dojo recently. How about I share a bit of the exercises?" Denki offered, looking innocent and bright.

"N- No need!"

"What are you being all shy for?"

"I'm not!"

Denki won the six of six spars with Katsuki through experience more than anything. It's a fact that Katsuki is a beast. But strangely, even though he knew it to be the case, Denki really didn't want to lose. He doesn't want to lose against Katsuki.

And Izuku… he's actually more fit than last time he saw him. There are lean muscles on his legs and there's less baby fat. Denki really shared the physical exercises he was taught at the dojo and told Izuku what each was for just like how he was told. He was doing all this to make All Might's work easier, but he wondered what Izuku's mother would think of this since he remembered that the woman wanted him to be safe and sound from all kinds of danger.

Mitsuki looks to be very appreciative of Denki and actually treats him the same way she treats Katsuki, as if he's her son. Or maybe a nephew. It felt nice to be pampered and it felt warm and tingly inside whenever she treated him nicely. Denki just didn't know that Katsuki and Izuku noticed this. Denki didn't realize how observant his friends actually were.

Of course, Denki couldn't hide anything from Mitsuki who has a difficult-to-handle child like Katsuki. Not only that, Denki told his two friends nearly everything about himself. The blonde didn't know that Katsuki told his parents everything he knew about him, only that he knew the couple knew as much as the things he told them himself when he was invited to the dinner before he moved away. Denki didn't know that Katsuki's parents approved of their friendship and were sincerely fond of him.

And Shouto found out about his spar with the other two because it was at a public park and a few classmates had confronted him about it in class. Safe to say, Shouto was green with envy for some reason. So he begged his parents that he wanted to invite him to his house to have a spar with him and for some reasons, they gave the request the green light.

What the actual-

Okay, calm down. It's nothing big! It's nothing… hahah…

This is so sad.

"Tousan, I think I will be back before sunset," Denki said, patting Yuugo's chest.

"Uhh… what… why…?"

"Shouto wants me to spar with him at his home today. Haha… I'm going to meet Endeavor, Kami-sama, help me. I'm so scared."

"Huhh… Endeavor…? Why Endeavor…"

"Because Shouto is Endeavor's son…?"

At once, Yuugo's eyes snapped open. "What!"

Denki jumped in surprise, holding his chest. His heart was beating fast. "Gosh, you scared me. Why did you suddenly yell? I thought my heart was going to-

"How long did you know about this? Why have you never told me?!"

Denki stared at Yuugo in confusion. "I thought… you knew? You had that 'huh? Isn't that' look when Shouto and his mom introduced themselves at the supermarket."

Yuugo stared at Denki for a long while before rubbing his face. He then sat up. "Let me wash my face. I'll take you there. I'll take you home around five thirty so don't go home alone, alright?"

"Huhh? Why? You don't have to."

Yuugo's eyes narrowed as he looked outside the windows. The sun had risen a few minutes ago. "I won't let that nutcase think he can do whatever to my son. You too," he started, looking at him. Their gazes connected. Yuugo's golden orbs were sharp and deep. "Don't get pushed around. If you have to be rude to escape, do it."

The blonde was stunned.

"Why are you saying all this? Do you know him personally, tousan?"

The look on his father's face sent shivers down Denki's spine. "Bah, know him? How can I not know him? I work with him many times to know about his real self a little. Not only that, my best friend's older sister is his wife. I just made the connection just now. You remember my friend's number which I registered on your phone? That'd be Shouto's mother's younger brother."

Denki's jaw landed on the floor. "What the heck?! How can you remember that only now!"

"Aah… it happens when you know too many names to count. Now then, wait a bit. I'll clean myself a little."

Denki face-palmed. "Hurry up! I promised at eight thirty!"

"Yeah… gah… my son is his son's good friend? What kind of joke is this?"

"I can hear you, idiot!"
