Chapter 164
Author's Note: So I know I still have three people to get out of the prison but some people (Jewel) are demanding attention. So the original plan for Terminus OC was to be Gareth's and Alex's sister, but she told me no I don't want to be related to them. So that made me make yet another OC. Both are dying.
Redangel2463: Trust me Jewel and Rick aren't happy being apart! They are getting there own freaking chapter or two or three when everyone reunites! You know how they get when they get together.

Jewel and Mika's POV:
Jewel sighed as she tapped the gas gage again. "You have to be kidding me," she grumbled.
Mika looked at her from the passenger seat. "Are we out of gas?" she asked as she leaned to stop the CD player.
"Think we might be, but according to the gas gage, we should have half of tank," Jewel told her. She glanced at the radio as she heard voices. "Mika did you put a new CD in?" she asked.
"No," Mika answered. "Is that voices?"
"Turn it up," Jewel told her.
"Sanctuary for all. Community for all. Those who arrive survive. Terminus," the voice from the radio said. "Terminus those who arrive survive. Follow the tracks to the point where all lines intersect. There are maps at the crossings to help guide you with your journey."
Mika looked at Jewel. "We could go there, it could be safe," she said with a smile.
Jewel took a breath then looked at Mika. "It could be, Mika. Or it could be another Woodbury or worse."
"Or it really could be a sanctuary, and everyone could be heading there," Mika told her.
Jewel nodded. "Alright, we must be close because we are getting a very clear signal. The train tracks are just up that way," she said as she nodded. But, if we do this, we are doing it smart. Doing things without thinking, without preparing, it gets people caught off guard. Always think two steps ahead, weigh the pros and cons. Pro, the others could be hearing the same thing and heading there. Now you think of a con," she told the child. This was the way Jane had taught her. Be prepared for anything.
Mika looked at her. "Maybe I should take the pros, I'm not very good at looking at the bad things."
Jewel reached over and squeezed her hand. "I know Mika, and you can still look at the bright side, but you always have to weigh both sides of a coin. Bad things happened in the world before, just like now. But my friend Jane said that if you were prepared for the worst, you'd be pleasantly surprised when the good happened, but if the worst did happen, you'd be able to keep calm and clearly cause you had prepared for it. So, if we are going to do this, we are going to think of pros and cons, both of us. Con," she told the girl.
Mika took a breath. "They could be dangerous."
Jewel nodded. "That's right, so we'll have to be prepared. Hand me the bag with the medical supplies in it," she said.
Mika did what she was told. "What are you going to do?"
"First time Merle took me out hunting, I couldn't have been more then four or five, he told me that a girl needed to be prepared for anything. And that included dating boys and everything," she said. "Pull up you pants leg. If they're smart, they're going to check for weapons, maybe even take our guns. That's a con, obviously."
"A pro can be that we hide weapons on us and be ready to fight if things go bad," Mika answered proudly.
"That's right," Jewel said as she tucked the knife down Mika's sock and taped it to her leg. "Is that to tight?"
Mika shook her head. "No," she answered.
"Good the goal is to just to be able to reach it quickly and pull it out. That's why I'm going to leave a little space between the wrapping for quick retrieval," Jewel said.
Mika got a grin on her face. "Um Jewel, you don't plan to put one in your boot do you? I mean you really can't bend that far," she asked teasingly.
Jewel laughed. "Oh you think you're smart don't you? Yeah, I'm not going to put one in my boot, I've got one sewed into my jacket, always do," she said. "Con: if things go bad, it's going to go fast."
"Pro: We'll be prepared, and we work together," Mika said.
Jewel nodded. "Con: You may be forced to do something that you think you can't do," she said.
Mika took a breath. "Pro: If it saves you and the baby, then it's worth it. I don't ever want to be like those people that showed up at the prison."
Jewel kissed the top of her head. "Mika, there is absolutely no way you'd ever be like that. You are to good to turn into anything like that. People like the Governor, they were born with something bad in them. This world, it made it possible for that bad to take over. I don't like killing, I was a nurse. But the people that I've killed, I know it was either my family or me. It doesn't make me a bad person because I had to do the things I've done to keep the people I love alive," she said. "It won't make you a bad person if you have to face it, and if you can't, then that's alright too. But if it's you or them, I'd much rather it be you to live. You got it?"
"Got it. I'll try," Mika answered.
Jewel nodded. "I know you will. Hand me your bag. We're going to hide a gun in it."
"You said that they would check us for weapons," Mika reminded her as she handed her the bag.
"I said if they were smart," Jewel told her. "But, we also have the advantage of not looking very scary. I mean a pregnant woman and ten year old girl, we're the less intimating people anyone could ever meet. They aren't really going to be scared of us, are they?" she asked with a grin.
"Pro: We use that to our advantage," Mika said.
Jewel smiled. "Hey I thought you were supposed to be thinking of cons? But yes you're right, we use that to our advantage. We don't tell to much of the true story about what happened to us, we scope this place out, keep our guard up and we stay together. No matter what, if they try to separate us, you kick and scream, you knee them," she told the girl. She saw the shocked look on her face. "What it works, on either men or women. I learned that one from Merle when I was three," she said.
"You look so sweet and innocent," Mika told her with a grin.
"I keep getting told that," Jewel answered. "Alright, so we got food, water, weapons hidden. I guess if we are going to do this, we should get to it," she told Mika.
"Should we leave the others a sign? I mean incase they are coming this way, and we want them to know that we are heading in the same direction," Mika told her.
Jewel smiled. "Good idea. Something that they know but these people won't have an idea.," she said as her fingers felt the baby blanket that Karen had made. She took a breath as she found a small pair of scissors in the bag and cut a piece of cloth off. "I really hate to do this," she said as she got out of the car and tore a piece of the blanket off and tied it to the bottom of the antenna. "Sorry baby Grimes, but this is to tell daddy, your uncles, you aunts, your brother and sister, that they are on the right track," she said as she rubbed her stomach. She took a breath as another kick happened.
"They are getting worse?" Mika asked.
Jewel smiled. "Yeah, but I'm alright. I'm not in labor yet. Let's start walking alright," she said as she put a gun over her shoulder. "You got the knife visible?" she asked.
"Yes," Mika answered as she took her hand and they started walking.
"Just listen to that little voice of yours, the one that tells you when something isn't exactly right. You know that voice right?" Jewel asked.
Mika nodded. "The one that lets you know something's not right," she said.
"That's right," Jewel answered as they walked and got to the tracks. "We aren't that far…according to this sign. I don't like being out here in the open, let's go back to the woods, stay parallel to the tracks, when we get closer we can come out hiding," she said.
"The trees give more cover," Mika told her.
"That's right," Jewel said as they walked further. About a half an hour later, she leaned against a tree, and took out a bottle of water. "I need to rest a bit, Mika. Let's share a bottle of water," she said as she handed the girl some water.
"We should be close," Mika said.
"About a half an hour or so," Jewel said as she heard noises. "Get behind me, take out your knife. Stay close I'll take them out," she said as a walker came close as she stabbed him.
"Jewel!" Mika said as more walkers came out.
"Hell's bells," Jewel said as she took the gun off her shoulder and started firing. Mika stabbed one as it got close. "Stay close," Jewel ordered as one came close and her gun jammed. "You got to be freaking kidding me," she said as she took one of her knives get him on the head. She heard a gun shot from behind them and popped up her head as she grabbed Mika to her side.
A man in a blue baseball hat looked at them. "It looked like the two of you needed some help," he said as he approached.
"Stay back," Jewel warned as she kept one hand on Mika and another on her knife.
The man stepped back. "It's alright, it's not safe out here. I just happened to be patrolling," he said. "Staying off the tracks, that's a smart idea. You heading to terminus? I'm from there. We can head back that way, doesn't look like you should be walking to much," the man told her.
Jewel looked at him. "Heard the broadcast on a radio, thought we'd check it out," Jewel told him.
The man nodded. "I'm not going to hurt you, if I was, I certainly wouldn't have taken care of that walker."
"I haven't quite decided if I trust you yet," Jewel told the man as she held Mika.
