Chapter Four
T.C. Callahan handed the phone back to the Lieutenant with a surprised and an okay-that-happened face. He looked at Jordan, bless her, and understood his shocked expression. "We have to be at the San Antonio Army base in two hours, kiddos in tow."
Jordan looked at her husband of eight years with the same shocked expression. "Okay," turning to the newer doctors that they had trained out in the field not three years ago. They were all competent and ready to be on their own. They had Scott and Drew. The latter just returned from being deployed, not a scant six months ago. Jordan knew they were all in good hands. "Listen up everyone Dr. Callahan and I are headed to Chicago. Your supervisors will be Dr. Scott Clemmens and Dr. Drew Allister. Remember your training and if you are unsure about a diagnosis grab them."
Scott Clemmens made a face like Jordan was kidding.
"No Scott I am not kidding. They have my permission to drag you to their patients as long as you are not in surgery." Jordan gave Dr. Clemmens a pointed look.
Drew and T.C. along with Topher, not many years ago, received the same pointed look. You knew not to argue with a determined Dr. Jordan Alexander.
"Everyone except Doctors Clemmens, Allister, and Callahan go back to work." Turning to the two who she considered friends and one being her husband said, "Drew you are in charge of the interns. If you need help straightening them out, grab Rick and Brianna." Jordan was looking forward to hearing how they fared with a young woman who had passed her CPR and EMT training. Although they all knew that they had to pull her back if there was a chemical fire. They knew her CF wouldn't be able to take the smoke from the chemicals. She stayed at the hospital while the other EMT's attended to the fire. Turning to T.C., she grasped his hand and tugged. She knew that would bring him down to earth.
Feeling the tug on his hand T.C. looked at Jordan then slightly shook his head to clear his foggy brain, "Right, we need to grab the kids from Brianna, head home to pack our suitcases, and then head to the base." Turning to the Lieutenant, "CW Deem will be alright. He is lucky that his laceration didn't get infected. Good work on the first aid and oh by the way your CO says you are flying us to Chicago, so you better get a move on."
Lieutenant Abraham Stevens' jaw dropped for a few seconds. He was flying the Captain and his family to Chicago. Wow, he never saw that coming. Well, no time to dwell on his surprise, he had a job to do and he was going to do it the best of his ability. "You are right Captain. Thank you for the update. Even though we are separate ranks, Deem is one of my best friends and a good head on his shoulders." Turning to Dr. Allister added, "If your interns need any knocks to the head, get Deem to help you. He is good, especially smart mouthed no-it-alls."
"Thank you, Lieutenant. That will be a big help." Drew acknowledged Stevens' suggestion with a slight nod.
"Let's go T.C., everyone is set here. Time to pick up our kids and head to Chicago." Jordan was looking forward to seeing Sarah again. A tour around Station Firehouse 51 will be good for the kids.
