This Night

Chapter 173

Author's Note: First of all, I have to give a shout out to Elliewellybear who pm'd me with the following: I really really really can't wait to see them all back together again and see Jicks reunion (that's my totally creative ship name for Jewel and Rick...it's totally fabulous) And she's right it's absolutely fabulous and I bequeath (cause I'm the author and I can) that the ship name for my babies is Jicks! It is the best!

Second of all, thank you all for reading and favoriting and pmming me with ideas and suggestions. It all means so much. Now review please! I didn't see any reviews for the last chapter. Thank you!

Sasha and Ronnie's POV:

Ronnie glanced over her shoulder when she heard Sasha coming up to take over guard shift. "I've got it Sasha, I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway."

"We all agreed to three hours, we all need to get what rest we can," Sasha told the other woman. "Why do you think anyone else is alive?"

Ronnie glanced at her. "Why do you think no one else is?"

"You saw the bus, you saw everything that happened. It's just best not to think anyone survived, it's not good for Maggie to think there's a chance Glenn's alive," Sasha said.

"Or for you to think that Lexi or Tyreese are alive some where out there?" Ronnie asked.

"This isn't about me," Sasha insisted.

Ronnie looked at her. "You think if you can convince Maggie that there's no way that Glenn is out there, if she accepts that he's dead, that then it's easier for you to accept that Tyreese and Lexi may be too. But, not knowing, that's worse then knowing. So both you and Maggie need to know one way or another."

"Maybe you have it backwards Ronnie? Maybe it's easier for me to have some sliver of hope that they are alive, and finding them dead or one of those things would be worse," Sasha told her.

"I've been on both sides of the coin, Sasha. You think it may be like that, but the not knowing, it'll tear you apart, because you'll have so many what if scenario's playing around in your head," Ronnie told her. "Yeah it'll tear you up if you find them dead, I'm not saying it won't. But it'll give you some sort of closure," she said.

"How are you not angry with what happened with Ridge? What happened to all of us?" Sasha asked.

Ronnie gave a small smile. "Buddha said that holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one that gets burned. I could be angry at the person who did this, but it's not going to bring Ridge back. And the man with the tank? Yes, he's a despicable person who had deadly intentions. But anger and jealously is what made him do what he did. And, well if we let ourselves become like that, we are no better then him. I respect myself more then to let me become that. I think you do too," she said.

"How were you in the military with that calm attitude?" Sasha asked.

"Don't mistake my being able to let things go, as a sign of weakness. Just because I don't like to kill, doesn't mean I'm not going to for my family. Just because I don't hold on to anger, it doesn't mean I'm feeling any less pain then any of you. But right now, my thought is on Jewel and each moment that she is out there, it's more dangerous for her to be alone, for any of us to be alone. So, you with us on this Sasha?"

Sasha gave a small smile. "Don't have much of a choice do I? The three of you are determined to look," she said.

"Peer pressure at the finest," Ronnie said with a smile. "Goodnight Sasha," she told the other woman.

The next morning:

Sasha, Bob, Ronnie and Maggie's POV:

Ronnie glanced back at Bob and Sasha. "I tried talking to her last night, about not giving up. I don't know if it worked or not."

"We're all together, that's all that matters," Maggie said.

Ronnie glanced around. "Do you hear that?"

"Walkers'," Bob said as he stopped.

"I knew it was to good to last," Sasha said.

"Formation, don't use your guns unless you have to, we're low on bullets," Maggie instructed as they got into formation and started fighting them off. One of them grabbing Bob.

"NO!" Sasha yelled at it and stabbed it. "Did it…"

"Bob?" Ronnie asked as she took down the last walker.

Bob looked and laughed. "It got my on the bandage."

Sasha laughed and hugged him.

"Ow, ow, ow," Bob said.

"Sorry," Sasha told him as she released the hug.

"I said ow, not to stop," he told her as Maggie and Ronnie laughed.

"We're down to six bullets, and that was close," Sasha said. "That was a warning, a warning that we should stop. A warning that we need to find a nice tall building in the next town and stay put," she said. "The next warning is on us."

"I'm not stopping," Maggie said. "Ronnie?" she asked as she turned around and saw the other woman looking at a sign.

"Guys, come look at this," Ronnie told them.

"Terminus," Bob said like he remembered something.

"You've heard of it before?" Ronnie asked.

"Out on the run to the veterinary clinic, we heard a broadcast, couldn't make out what it said. The only reason I'm rememberin' now, is because of that sign," Bob said.

"Those who arrive survive," Sasha read.

"We should go there," Maggie said.

"I thought we were looking for Glenn? For Jewel?" Sasha asked.

"If they saw these signs, they would be heading there," Maggie insisted.

"Jewel's going to want to be inside not out here in the open, she's going to be thinking like a mother cub wanting to protect her young," Ronnie told them.

"Look at the map, all these tracks from different directions leading to the same place," Maggie said.

"It's far," Sasha pointed out. "And we don't know if there are anymore," she insisted.

"You don't think that's the only one, do you?" Maggie asked.

"That's the best lead so far, and if we're thinking that way, I'm sure the others are too. Ty, Lexi," Bob told her.

"It says sanctuary, that's another reason to try," Maggie insisted.

"If it sounds to good to be true," Sasha tried again. "If Glenn saw one of these maybe he would think the same way."

"No he wouldn't, he'd believe, I know," Maggie insisted.

"Well it's better to do it in a group then alone, and four is better then three," Ronnie stated. "I'm in the leave no man behind camp," she said.

"Got to go with the other military person here," Bob said.

Sasha sighed. "So it would do absolutely no good to repeat that we should stop?"

"No," the three of them said.

"Come on Sasha, you know the old saying, if you can't beat them join them," Bob said.

"Fine," Sasha said as she rolled her eyes at them. "You've been smiling since the prison," she told him.

"Yeah I've noticed that too," Ronnie said as she watched Maggie write a note to Glenn on the rock.

"Do you even know why you are smiling?" Sasha asked.

"Oh yeah, I'm not alone. That's what happened when I lost my first group and my second group. I broke that streak, you'd be smiling too. Self awareness is a beautiful thing, you should try it sometimes," Bob said.

Maggie smiled as she finished. "We ready?"

Sasha sighed. "I still think this is a really bad idea."

"Yet majority rules," Ronnie said as she hugged her.

"You're stubborn. I thought you were the toughest person I've ever met, which is odd because you're also the sweetest. But you wanting to give up, that's not the Sasha I know," Bob told her.

"We're in this together," Maggie told her.

"Yeah," Sasha said. "Come on before I change my mind."
